Hi, Craig here with Refined Cycle & Off-Road. Just wanted to say fantastic job on this review and video production! And great point about the added benefit of not being able to steal the locked version! Just thought I'd let you know, we are in the process of making the 4 can mount. The only part that is different is the actual mount plate for the cans. Contact me and we'll work something out on getting you a test piece. I was never crazy about the idea of putting that much weight back there but we did a prototype years ago for a customer and so many people have seen his and asked for one, we finally decided to go forward with it.
@@OutboundIntent Well to be completely honest I was never a fan of the idea but we made a prototype for a customer years ago and he has been very happy. So happy he has people asking us all the time to make one, so we finally broke down and have one in production now. Contact me through the website and we'll talk more. Thanks.
We ship to Australia all the time. If you get a few people together to do a group buy shipped to one place it really helps with the shipping cost. Thanks!
Sweet! Was looking into this but ultimately decided on a steel Jerry can and hopefully I can get the mount for it as well! Also, you should probably invest on the Ultragauge EM Plus so you can keep track of the gas and stuff!
Do you guys in the states not have Long range tanks/Aux tanks? Here in South Africa, the 2013+ models came standard with an additional 21Gallon(80L) tank mounted in that rear cavity. My 2012 only had the standard 19Gallon tank, so I fitted a Frontrunner 100L (26 Gallon) aux tank which basically more than doubled my range without having to carry those heavy rotopax/jerry cans on the doors. So now I have 172L (45 Gallons) and then for longer trips, I'd travel with 2x or 4x 20L jerry cans.
@@OutboundIntent check on FrontrunnerOutfitters site. They still sell these tanks in South Africa, I bet they'd be able to get one over to the states. It literally just installs in that huge cavity under the tailed. It doesn't influence your clearance, and does come with a protective plate for the odd cases.
Great question, that is something I haven't used until recently and I can confidently say that the rear window opens perfectly with the mount installed.
Just put mine on tonight. Thanks for the video. What I am concerned about is how exposed the two bolts are for the rotopax lock. Just need a 12mm or 1/2 wrench and you have my lock and gas cans 😳
Very cool addition, very interested in seeing if you can indeed get 4 packs on there... I want to mount my Wavian Jerry can in the same spot, but I am not happy with the current products on the market. I was thinking of fabricating something myself.
Yeah me too 😬 we will see how it goes. I agree, there isn’t a whole lot on the market at the moment as far as mounting goes. If you make one id love to check it out
Hi just wanted to let you know, due to very popular request, we are currently making a 4 can holder. Anyone that currently has the 2 can, it will just be a matter of changing the one plate out. Thanks!!
Wondering if a single 3 Gallon install will fit with this configuration? I am trying to reduce weight on their rear door, as I will also install a Gas mount on the pother side.
4 rotopax might put too much stress on your rear door along with those 33's. Just based on what I read. I have the same set up. I thought about it too. just saying. Good luck
For the rattles when close the doors while the cans are empty and hitting bumps, I cut out a rectangular thin piece of yoga mat and placed it in between the cans. Works wonders.
Dude you cant trust anyone anymore because everyone is living paycheck to paycheck, groceries are 500 a month for one person. Just take the 10 seconds to take your rotopacks off when you're off trail. Someone at some point will attempt to take them. I guarentee it.

Hey man, thank you! I have been loving the mount so far. I would definitely be interested in discussing. Any issues with all that weight in the back?

Add an antenna mount near the hinge portion so it won’t take away the typical place for antennas on an FJ.
@@Dennis_is_Outside Great minds think alike. We've always had that option. In fact we have 2 sizes available right around ten bucks. Thanks!
@@craigwheat4362Hi Craig can I use a single 3-gallon Jerrycan instead of two 2-gallon Jerry cans?
Awesome video. Can’t wait for the four pack version.
Really cool camping setup
Thank you 👊🏼
Wish we had this in Australia. Thanks for the video.
Absolutely 👊

That’s a great idea, I am definitely going to look into that!
Chitown4x4 has a mount that can hold up to 8 Gal. It’s very study and doesn’t rattle.
Great video. Can you tell me where you got that "Toyota" spare tire bolts cover?
Honestly I am not sure... that was from the previous owner.

To my knowledge... we do not have any. But your comment has made me interested in finding a bigger tank...

Thank you for that! I will have to check it out!
do you lose the function of opening and closing the rear window?
Great question, that is something I haven't used until recently and I can confidently say that the rear window opens perfectly with the mount installed.
That’s so awesome. I was on the fence about buying it. But now I think I’ll go with it! Appreciate all the help.
Do you have a video of the taillight covers?
Solid question, I actually painted those! I simply taped it off, scuffed it and painted it black
@@OutboundIntent nice

Are you still able to open the rear window?
Yup! Rear window opens just fine.

Awesome, glad you like them!!
@@craigwheat4362that’s probably the best explanation of how we use that word down here in Australia!
The tailgate is able to open all the way?
Yup! It works perfectly
Question, what size bolts did you get? It’s giving two different options.
The 2 options you are seeing is not mounting bolts. It's the size Antenna you have, for the optional antenna mount. Thanks!
@@craigwheat4362 hi, do 2x rotopax hit the tailgate light if i open the door all the way? also will i be able to open the rear door window?

Yup I definitely can agree with you on that, which is why I am going to empty the top two cans ASAP once it is low enough to fit them.

very smart idea, I may use that!

Kinda looks like u lose function on the rear window tho.. hmm not sure if that’s worth it
Thankfully you don't, even with the packs on!
time for a roof rack upgrade
Facts haha... getting one this year hopefully
