Hey everyone! Thanks for watching the video! Here are some notes I wish I could go back and add/change: - the OEM 5-spoke 16" wheels (non-TRD 16" wheels) are actually 16x7", not 16x7.5 like the TRD wheels - Shoot for around -12 mm offset when fitting 305 or 315 tires (12 - 12.5" wide) on aftermarket wheels without wheel spacers to clear the UCA (you will probably still need a BMC though)
Finally, the one link that can be sent to answer the never-ending question of "what's the biggest wheels / tires I can fit with no/some/all the lift". Thanks Hayden :)
Just in case anyone is interested: I have the 34x10.5x17 BFG KO2s on the stock FJ wheel and 3”-ish lift. BMC needed. I am re-geared which is why I moved to this size in an attempt to save some fuel. MPG did go up 2+ over the previous MTs but the availability and cost of this size is such that I would not do it again. Already looking forward to my new set of tires! Most likely going back to a 285/70/17
Incredible video. Knowledge oozing everywhere in this thing. I am also on my second FJ but just getting around to modding a bit. Incredible to learn from folks like you. Thank you!!!
The setup I went with on my FJ is 285/70/17 KO2s on TRD Sema wheels, SPC upper control arms, OME springs and Bilstein 5100 up from and 5160 in the rear. 1.25 Spidertrax spacers to regain width and stability after the 3 inch lift. 🙂 really happy with the setup works great for my needs.
Hey dude, another awesome video. Your info is on point! As an off-road driving instructor and member of the I4WDTA, people are always asking me to help explain tire sizes and gear ratios… etc. I often refer them to your channel. Now from one “expert” to another, I need some of your wisdom. I’m about to re-do suspension and tires on my FJC. As of now, I don’t plan on doing a re gear (maybe). I’m planning on the obligatory 285/70R17, either in the BFG KM3 or a Firestone Destination MT2 as I can get a decent deal on either of these. I like the idea of the 255/85R17 like you’ve done but alas, the two aforementioned tire companies don’t offer that size ( that I’ve seen). I currently run 295/70R17 on my taco and it’s re-geared to 4.56:1. It also has about 800+ extra pounds on it. With this gear ratio I’m close to original shift points and crawl / highway speeds relative to RPM. To the point… do you think I can get away with 295/70R17 on my FJC with out a re-gear? I don’t plan on going crazy with accessories or a big overland build. I know It’ll feel a little less peppy and braking distance will increase, CVs will be more vulnerable… etc. Thanks for your time. I know it’s a ton of work producing those amazing videos. That’s why I don’t do it. I’m just too lazy. Oh yeah, I suppose I could just swap out my taco wheels/tires on my FJC for a week and get some data but again, I’m lazy.
Thanks a ton! Yeah as I mention in this video lots of folks love the 295s on their FJs and most people don’t regear until you get to 35s, so I would recommend just sticking with factory gearing with the 33s! Swapping tires sounds like a fun idea though 👌
Did you end up with the MT2's? I have a set on my 2500HD in 295/70-17 and they currently have 64k miles on them. The snow is flying here in Iowa and they still have enough tread to use safely. I'm thinking of using the this same size MT2 on my newly (today!) purchased FJ.
Awesome video thanks so much making this. Hugely helpful. I have a 2014 FJ here in Australia with the following: 2.5 inch lift, Method Double Standard 17 x 8.5 inches zero offset, Maxxi MT772 285/70/17. Stock control arms. No BMC but my wheels were moved forward. No scrub or rub issues.
I'm running 295/75R16 Nittio Ridge Grapplers on my stock TRD wheels. I have a stage 3 icon lift and had a BMC done at the same time since they were under there. I'm supper happy with these wheels. I still think I'm going to regear to 4:56 because I use this as my daily to work which is 55miles one way. I've definitely noticed alot more down shifting on the hills and don't want to beat my transmission up.
@@FJX2000_Productions I wanted to get the Demello evil eye bumper and rear swing out but I know that extra weight will bog down the FJ even more soy next major mod will be a regear first.
@@markmitzlaff8672 demello does make steel and aluminum versions of their bumpers, so if you’re willing to spend a bit more for the aluminum ones you’ll save on weight which is a plus!
@@FJX2000_Productions oh I know I live in Corona where Demello is. They are the ones who did my lift. I am an aerospace welder so I understand metal very well. The repairability of steel is easier and cheaper than aluminum. So I'd never go with Al bumpers even for the weight benefits. That's just my opinion of course.
I loved your video, I use 35x12.5 r17 in my FJ and you give me another better options to resolve the little issue I been having when I turn the wheel. Thanks bro
running 285/ 75/ r16 cooper discovery sst pro mud tires, on the Toyota stock rims. They actually fit on my 2010 FJ without a lift or body chop. I later had the FJ lifted 3 inches. They are a 33.5 inch tire new.
oh, one more thing: gas milage. If you are going to be overlanding mostly, more than a 33 is going to kill your gas mileage/ km. so as cool as bigger tires are, they do not add that much more capability relative to range. I overland in the Patagonia mostly, and gas stations can sometimes be a long way in between (if they have gas).
As im sucking all this info from your videos. Hopefully later this year I'll be in a FJ. This the video that i was waiting for. Thanks for sharing your experience and expertise.
Would you consider creating content on Load Range or Load index choices for tires on the FJ? For example: I currently have stock wheels and stock tire size BFG KO2 in Load Range E (265/70/R17). There is limited AT and MT tire availability in my country. Currently I have access to KO2s in 285/65R17s but in Load Range C. Here in the West Coast of Saudi Arabia we overland through lava fields with lots of sharp rocks. Hence the preference for thicker side walls. My alternatives are to stay with the stock size for the higher load ranges, but with different AT manufacturers like Cooper, Hankook, Nexen or Kenda. Thanks for all the great content.
My choice for tire is LT235/80R 17. This tire on the stock rim maintains the speedometer accuracy and, due to its narrow width gives me 1 to 2 gain on the mpg. I have traversed many rock crawling trails with no impairment.
Late to the party here. I'm about to purchase Falken Wildpeak255/80/17's, from my understanding they typically fit on stock FJ's. BTW this is an incredible informational video!
@@delmardennee2024 Well my FJ has a 2" lift and there is absolutely no issues. There is a good chance they will fit stock because of how narrow they are. If you need to cut a little, its a pretty easy process.
@@SmitrockDesignz I just got them installed the tire rack had the falken A/T3W on clearance I grabbed 5 of them they are amazing and only weigh 51.6 lbs compared to 58 lbs of the A/T4W occasionally the driver's side kisses the body mount I will be doing the BMC this weekend to have peace of mind while I save money for my lift kit.
found a 2007 FJ with around 200,000km on it for $15,000 Canadian... I feel as though its a fair price but i'm just worried about any problems it may have. Looking for your opinion you're the man when it comes to this!
I bought a 2007 fj in an auction back in 2020 with 220,000 miles for 7500usd. I bought it with the purpose of resale to make a quick buck. I felt in love with it; it now has 301000 miles. I've never had a more reliable vehicle. If anything ever brakes in the feature (transmission or engine wise) i will replace it, i know is worth it.
Awesome video. Everything rubs when you’ve got long travel 😂 I’m running 285/70/17’s with some Rocktrix RT111’s (-12). 3.5” Camburg long travel, 2” rear wheel spacers to try to even the track width out, and I rub all the time!
I think 275/80R17 also pretty good choice for 34" tire size, but it's extremely rare, "Goodyear Wrangler MT/R" and "Milestar Patagonia XT" available 275/80R17 size As for the 35" pizza cutter (narrow) tires, I like the "Mickey Thompson Baja Boss AT" 255/85R17 (the current tire you're running), and the "Kenda KR601 RT" 35x10.50R17
Thanks for posting this info it's awesome.Going with Pizza Cutters for certain. Just want a wheel with enough negative offset to push them out to the edge of my FJ.
You my friend is the reference when it comes to FJ info, One question: Can I fit 275/70/17 or 285/70/17 with 0 offset, without a lift or triming? Thanks 👍
That would only move the tires outwards about 1/2” so maybe! I would say you’d probably be good with the 275s but but the 285s without a lift would be pushing it.
@@FJX2000_Productions another question, I have 2 inch lift on my FJ, 17 inch wheels 8.5 with 0 offset Will the 285/75/17 tires fit? Or I have to do some trimming? Thanks 🙏
@@magician4444able hard to say, it might be getting close. I would check out peoples similar setups on the FJCrusierForums and see what their experience has been
I'm running 37s with a 5 1/2" lift, 4.88 regeared and speedometer calibration. I get a little bit rubbing when off camber. I think a body lift would help with this. As it stands, my gal cusses me every time she has to get into my FJ so lifting the body another inch would really set her off.
What tires would you get if this was your set up and needs…base FJ, no lift, no mods, stock 17 wheel, new Bilstein 5100s on front and back (not lifted), no snow here, plenty of rain, don’t want loud tires, AND Mainly neeeeed SMOOTHEST riding!!. I don’t off road or tow. What would you get if you were me?? I’ve considered 285/70r17 in a P-metric like Cooper Disc at34s and Falken WP at3w. Also the BFG ko2 in a C load range. And even considered 😬 stock size SL. Thanks in advance! Awesome awesome video!!!
Hey there! I mostly know off-road tires so honestly for your purposes I wouldn’t get an off-road tire, and maybe just a good all season tire. The more tame your tire the smoother the ride will be. And 285s May work as I talk about in the video but if you want you could even just get like a 275 or something. But yeah, thanks for watching and good luck!
I recommend a D load or an E load generally. But I ran 315/70R17s that were C once, so it depends on what qualities your desiring from your tires. E will have a stronger and stiffer sidewall, more durable for off-roading and better handling for additional weight on your rig.
I really love FJ's I wish I bought a 2011 in 2011 hehe. Buying one today is expensive. I'm just waiting for my good deal I already know how I want my FJ to look.
I apologize! Right now I’m in dental school and want so badly to put time into making more FJ videos but haven’t had the chance to this semester. 😔 but I will at some point!
The dude, big fan, you are a true FJ legend. Since we both use the same TRD pro wheels, but your FJ is lifted I want to see if you would have any idea if stock height With TRD pro wheel, would it fit 285/70/17 without rubbing, since the offset (+4) is smaller comparing to the stock wheels. Much appreciated 🙏🏼
It should work, especially if you don’t Offroad hard, but there is always it chance it does rub in certain situations like turning to full lock and reversing or something unique like that. But for most driving I imagine you would be good to go!
Outstanding video. I'm intrigued by the 255 pizza cutters. Living in the midwest, my dad always said tall and skinny is best for cutting through snow, and I've found that to be true. Did you find they affect fuel mileage less than a wider tire of equal height?
Surprisingly no they haven't changed my fuel mileage much at all. No noticeable difference going from one to the other and I have tracked my fuel economy since I bought the FJ.
@HaydenCookFJX2000 what are you currently getting for highway/interstate mileage? I'm about to do lift and tires and thinking two sets. 295/70r17 on aftermarket wheels for summer, and 255/85r16 possibly studded on my OEM off road package wheels for winter. I don't want to kill my mileage though. Thank you
I use 295x70xR17 nitto trail grappler Slight mod on the inner fender well 2 .5 spacer lift Just fits on the back tire rack 2012 FJ CRUISER 6 speed manual Cheers 🍻
Hey! Setting the caster that far forward can pretty drastically change steering performance. Be careful with that one, I would much rather start with the body mount chop and only address caster if absolutely necessary. Alignment shouldn’t really be used as a tool to correct tire fitment.
Would a 6 inch lift fit a 35 without any modifications? Body mount chop and what not ? I really don't wanna do that to my car , it has 35k miles on it 😅
Where did the bashplate @10:12 in the video come from? I busted my stock plate in my '08 FJ (rough landing) and need a higher quality replacement. I've ordered two, and apparently they changed the fit for later era FJ, and can't find a good one (this could be a later era).
Hi I'm a big fan and watched all your videos, just a question, I needed to buy new wheels for my 08 cruiser coz they are messed up, i am currently running 285/70r17 hankook AT2 tires, can I use a 17 x 8 rims with +5 offset? Coz I like these wheels but concerned if i have the 285's installed on them that they may rub? Because of the +5 offset? Hope you can help me , thanks anf more power to your channel!
I got 265/70-r17 tires on my fj, I’m thinking about adding a lift kit, would a 6” lift be too much for those tires? Would they look out of place? Would I have to get bigger tires? Or should I just go with a modest 3”? Glad I found your channel love the videos
Thanks! Be sure to check out my other videos about the FJX2000 List of where to begin with mods and perhaps even my videos about lifting FJ Cruisers. I dive into all the details, but yes a 6” lift with the factory sized tires would look out of place, you would want to upgrade. But I recommend sticking with the classic 3” lift and going with 33” tires like 285/70R17
@@FJX2000_Productions thanks! I hope fuel consumption isn't impacted too much if I change from my current tires (265/70R/17) which is ~31" to the 285 at ~33"? In any case I think it will look much better :D
Thanks! And yep you shouldn’t have an issue unless you have really wide 33s, like 12”+ wide tires as is discussed in the 33” tires section of the video.
@@aaronheard5282 yeah if you go with a classic 33” tire like a 285/70R17, then a 17x8 or 17x9 will work great. Just make sure the backspacing and offset aren’t too extreme
Wonder if 16 inch wheels would fit on my 07 4th gen sport v8 4runner since the platform is the same as the fj cruisers up to 2014 Edit JUST CHECKED 16IN wheels fit on rear perfectly fine but ON front don't fit at all for factory 3rd gen 4runner wheels the calipers hit if used on a 4th gen 4runner
As far as I know it is a completely custom one with a little bit of the OEM bumper left over. They cut most of the bumper away and made it more low profile by adding a bash plate to make it like a pre-runner style bumper.
Great video! Whats everyones thoughts on a 3" lift fj running 305 65r18 tires with 18x9 -12mm offset? Body mount chop possibly? They are on order and im getting nervous...
I’m looking at going with some white wheels to create that old FJ LC vibe My question is regarding a 17x9 -38mm 3.5” BS vs 17x8.5 -10mm 4.3” BS My favorite is the Blaze10 from SCS but only comes in the -38mm option then they have the F5 in the -10mm option Since the wheel width and backspacing is different, I’m having a hard time figuring out the poke between these two options. I can’t find any examples of what the -38mm offset with 3.5” of BS looks like, I don’t want them to stick too far out I’m probably doing a 2.5-3” lift. Leaning towards the toytec ultimate with SPC UCAs
My o7 yota fj sitting on Mickey Thompson mtz 35x12.50x18 no body mount chop no rubbing, but i do have a 6in pro comp lift kit and with the add on i need to regear my axle to 488 my fuel mileage sucks for a Toyota i can barely get 200 miles on full tank, i do have a Magnuson supercharger installed and i don't drive like i stole it my yota is very heavy, i also installed jba high caster upper control arms with grease zerks on ball joints ,
I would be sure to check the frame for rusting as that is an issue some FJs suffer from, you want that frame to be nice and solid. Other then that I would just make sure it has all the features you like and that it looks clean and solid overall. Especially the engine bay for possible fender bulges.
@@fidelbuitron4000 I would personally go for something less, 300k is pretty high and you don’t see many FJs being bought or sold with that much mileage so I assume there’s a reason for that
Interior fender bulge. 300,000 miles on an FJ is actually not that much. lots of guys on the FJ forum are 600,000+; but, it all depends on the maintenance history. price of course is deciding factor. still, I would shop for a 2010+. they fixed the fender bulge, and increased the horse power. they fixed a bunch of other odds and ends too from the first generation.
Hello need your opinion , my plan to install 305/70/16 on my FJ ( base module 4x4 )vehicle will be used only for high way and city , do I need to perform BMC or any lifting ( the vehicle still has factory lift ) ....kindly advise . regards.
Are you taking about the big spacer above the front OEM coilover struts? I recommend looking into the full length coilover shocks designed for the 6” lift like those from Icon or ProComp or something like that
I don’t know the details of that specific FJ but on the FJCruiserForums you can find an FJ Cruiser Roof Rack Guide that can help! www.fjcruiserforums.com/threads/new-complete-roof-rack-comparison.633673/#post-8344433
When adjusting caster to avoid the body mounts, how does that compare to oem/ stock settings, and how does that work in conjunction with a lift? Lifts cause a loss in caster and a resultant loss of steering stability. Just wondering if the caster forward adjustment negatively impact the on road steering stability.
Please help me out on this one before I make the purchase. Would these two fit together? "Yokohama GEOLANDAR M/T G003 All-Terrain Radial Tire - 285/75R16 126Q" on the "Method Race Wheels 305 NV Matte Black 16x8" 6x5.5", 0mm offset 4.5" Backspace, MR30568060500" ????
Anything up to a 35 just a body mount chop and hammer the pinch welds flat and that is really all you need Anything 37 and larger I highly you learn recommend you tub and cut the wheel wells for clearance.
Hi - bought a used 2007 low milage FJ. It has a 3 inch lift, Falken Wildpeaks 285/70/17 on Pro Comp Prodigy 17/9/-6 wheels. I replaced the aftermarket UCAs with Light Racing SPCs. All 5 of the Prodigy wheels are peeling paint and I need a replacement. I really liked the look of the Prodigy’s wheel width with the Wild Peaks but need to move on - paint peeling is a common problem with them. I’ve tried TRD Rims in the past and they look ok but the +5mm offset and 7.5 inch with make the FJ look benign. I don’t believe 17" TRD Rims come any wider with offset less than +5. Is this correct? Is there an off-road wheel similar to the prodigy's dimensions that you could recommend - something that can accommodate the TRD wheel cap would be a plus. Would adding Spidertrax spacers to a set of TRD wheels be a viable option? Excellent site - really appreciate your help!
Would you guys recommended installing 3" lift from Dobinsons MRR? Please let me know if you have those installed or if you would recommend something better with the same adjustability and price range
Maybe I missed it but you don't comment on C vs E load. MT website shows mostly all BB-AT in E. Only a few D's. No C's. I've read E's are overkill. True?
Great question. I’ve run anywhere from C to E load ranges and haven’t noticed too much of a difference. I’ve heard that the D is perfect for the FJ but C and E work fine from my experience. Maybe that would be different depending on if you tow or not though
@@FJX2000_Productions what i understand is that running E-rated tires at FJ (Inside door) recommended pressures (approx 32lbs) will damage them over time. I don't know if that's true. But E-rated tires are supposed to be run at higher pressures.
A little off topic but I want to know what your opinion of the spare tire cover is. Mine got dinged up and I have it patched with duct tape I'm tempted to just remove it entirely but will this damage my camera?
I think your camera will be fine without the cover. The cover mostly protects the tire and wheel itself from weathering in the sun and elements. But I rotate my spare in so I've never had a cover and haven't worried, but I don't have a camera myself.
Could you run a 285/70/17 with a 265/70/17 as a spare? I have one of those full tyre covers that wrap around the 265 size bit wouldn't fit a 285. I'd only use the spare to get me out of trouble before I got a another 285 to replace it with.
As the video says, that would me a MAYBE. I fit that size tire on no lift and had no issues but you'll want to make sure your alignment is as positive as you can get it for the castor.
Hayden, do you have a way I can contact you directly? I have specific questions about lift/tire combos. Would be simpler to talk if you have availability? Thanks.
21:47 Though you don't "have" to regear with 35s, it is still recommended, regardless of if you have an auto or manual transmission. The autos have a 3.73 ratio while manuals have a 3.91, so I slight improvement with manuals yes. But an upgrade to 4.56 or 4.88 will certainly make a noticeable difference with either type of FJ.
@@FJX2000_Productions The overdrive is the biggest difference, 0.716 in auto, 0.799 in manual. 0.716x3.727=2.67, 0.799x3.909=3.12, means 17% difference. If you regear auto to 4.56 = 0.716x4.56=3.26, then we are within 5% with stock manual gearing.
I do not recommend with manual transmission. Otherwise too high rpms = more consumption. I even tow 4500 lbs caravan trailer on 6th gear, stock ratio and 315/70R17 tires.
4.30 gears are the best bet but you cannot get them for the 8.2. And I do think you need to regear if you load up the truck at all. You must be in 2nd gear on the redline to tow a 4500lb trailer. I need 4.5k RPM to climb a hill with 4 people and cooler on 35s MT. Regear tomorrow.
Also 2100RPM or 2400 RPM in 6th is negligible for fuel economy and if you are lugging at 2100RPM you are using more fuel than 85% load at 2400. The only fuel saving you can do in the FJ is to drive slower and reduce your air resistance - which will also lower your RPM.
Putting bigger tires on a vehicle is all good but Don't do it correctly very rarely does anyone do it correctly If you'd going to do it do it right And that is changing the gear ratio to compensate for the taller tires People always brag about putting bigger tires on there but they don't say I'm too lazy to change the gear ratio
Very good video and explanations, I do have in mine 285/70/17 with original wheels and I am willing to add a body lift of 1 1/2 to 2 inch only to get at least more space just for 295/70/17 or maybe 305/70/17 with same shocks which already have for an extra extension of 2", after seen your full 5 star training, my question are: Due to the fact I dont want to get in modifying shocks and original springs trying to keep same soft ride, I will like to use the following option ruclips.net/video/i4-bdjn5JFc/видео.htmlsi=bf1Y3dP39DQqahFh . Is it a bad option? My FJ, I usually use it in the city and some mud for the farm, nothing of rock c...... Please feedbacks of using those lift spacers for fitting my new tires.
Hey everyone! Thanks for watching the video! Here are some notes I wish I could go back and add/change:
- the OEM 5-spoke 16" wheels (non-TRD 16" wheels) are actually 16x7", not 16x7.5 like the TRD wheels
- Shoot for around -12 mm offset when fitting 305 or 315 tires (12 - 12.5" wide) on aftermarket wheels without wheel spacers to clear the UCA (you will probably still need a BMC though)

I still think I'm going to regear to 4:56 because I use this as my daily to work which is 55miles one way. I've definitely noticed alot more down shifting on the hills and don't want to beat my transmission up.
Yeah I’ve thought of regearing with my 34s but haven’t ever pulled the trigger
That's just my opinion of course.

oh, one more thing: gas milage. If you are going to be overlanding mostly, more than a 33 is going to kill your gas mileage/ km. so as cool as bigger tires are, they do not add that much more capability relative to range. I overland in the Patagonia mostly, and gas stations can sometimes be a long way in between (if they have gas).
That was very educational and a help for me to figure out how I want to build up my FJ. Thank you!
Glad I could help!!
As im sucking all this info from your videos. Hopefully later this year I'll be in a FJ. This the video that i was waiting for. Thanks for sharing your experience and expertise.
Super glad I could help!
This is very informative for me I appreciate the content❤
Great video plans on build an overlanding rig and pizza cutters look really smart for me
Glad to hear it! My pizza cutters have been great so far!
Excellent video!!! thank you for taking the time to explain all this.
Would you consider creating content on Load Range or Load index choices for tires on the FJ? For example:
I currently have stock wheels and stock tire size BFG KO2 in Load Range E (265/70/R17).
Awesome. Super clear and to the point. Thank you
Very useful video. I’m looking at lifting the FJ and upgrading the tires soon. Thanks!

HEY! i didn't see any pictures of my FJ! :D .. good video. ~NyNomad
Really clear and full of information!!

My choice for tire is LT235/80R 17. This tire on the stock rim maintains the speedometer accuracy and, due to its narrow width gives me 1 to 2 gain on the mpg. I have traversed many rock crawling trails with no impairment.
Nice choice!! Pizza cutters for the win!

I might go with Mickey Thompson 255/85r17 on my 4runner. Just haven't found anybody running them yet
Awesome video. Everything rubs when you’ve got long travel 😂
I’m running 285/70/17’s with some Rocktrix RT111’s (-12).
3.5” Camburg long travel, 2” rear wheel spacers to try to even the track width out, and I rub all the time!
Yep it is inevitable, especially if you wheel it hard 😂
Extremely valuable video! Thanks for doing this !!! 👏👍
Thanks for watching! Glad it’s valuable!
I think 275/80R17 also pretty good choice for 34" tire size, but it's extremely rare, "Goodyear Wrangler MT/R" and "Milestar Patagonia XT" available 275/80R17 size
As for the 35" pizza cutter (narrow) tires, I like the "Mickey Thompson Baja Boss AT" 255/85R17 (the current tire you're running), and the "Kenda KR601 RT" 35x10.50R17
Yeah I really wanted those MT/R 275/80R17s but then the Baja Boss AT came out and I had to have it. Skinny tires for the win!

You my friend is the reference when it comes to FJ info,
One question: Can I fit 275/70/17 or 285/70/17 with 0 offset, without a lift or triming?

That would only move the tires outwards about 1/2” so maybe! I would say you’d probably be good with the 275s but but the 285s without a lift would be pushing it.

2011, 3” OME lift, stock rims, 285/70/17 Duratrac. For the algorithm…
Thanks or letting us know! What a classic setup!
Hi just curious on what load range you recommend?
I recommend a D load or an E load generally. But I ran 315/70R17s that were C once, so it depends on what qualities your desiring from your tires. E will have a stronger and stiffer sidewall, more durable for off-roading and better handling for additional weight on your rig.
Great video thanks!!
I really love FJ's I wish I bought a 2011 in 2011 hehe. Buying one today is expensive. I'm just waiting for my good deal I already know how I want my FJ to look.

It should work, especially if you don’t Offroad hard, but there is always it chance it does rub in certain situations like turning to full lock and reversing or something unique like that. But for most driving I imagine you would be good to go!

Have you looked at portal axel mods for your FJ?
@@FJX2000_Productions does that recommended size also work on a 2” lift or is 3” required? I have 2” and want to avoid BMC

I’m looking at going with some white wheels to create that old FJ LC vibe
My question is regarding a 17x9 -38mm 3.5” BS vs 17x8.5 -10mm 4.3” BS
My favorite is the Blaze10 from SCS but only comes in the -38mm option then they have the F5 in the -10mm option
Since the wheel width and backspacing is different, I’m having a hard time figuring out the poke between these two options. I can’t find any examples of what the -38mm offset with 3.5” of BS looks like, I don’t want them to stick too far out

I am looking into possibly purchasing an 07 FJ with 294k on it . What are your thoughts on it or what should I look for or consider before buying it ?
I would be sure to check the frame for rusting as that is an issue some FJs suffer from, you want that frame to be nice and solid. Other then that I would just make sure it has all the features you like and that it looks clean and solid overall. Especially the engine bay for possible fender bulges.
And as far as the high mileage ? You think I can still get good life out of it or should I go for something with a bit less ?
@@fidelbuitron4000 I would personally go for something less, 300k is pretty high and you don’t see many FJs being bought or sold with that much mileage so I assume there’s a reason for that
@@FJX2000_Productions ok maybe I’ll reconsider. Thanks a bunch for your info and knowledge

Those 37s are nuts!! Lol

There is no need to regear with 35”s if 6M/T. The overall gear ratio is still higher than A/T with stock 32” tires.
I wish I had one❤😰
