Super Mario 3D world? It wouldn't stop Odyssey sales. It's PERFECT because of the 4 player co-op. Just go somewhere and you can hop in with 4 joy-cons. Besides, Captain Toad Treasure Tracker is on the Switch, so it's only normal to have 3D world to it too.
@Gamebomb123s Biggest Fan Wrong. Treasure Tracker is based on the levels in 3D world. It has the 3D world interface, looks and sounds. The Wii U version had 3D world levels. Logically, Nintendo removed those and made them Odyssey levels. But, that doesn't mean it's a spin-off of Odyssey.
I feel like a brand new game would preform better and not be super expensive to develop. I can see Nintendo squeezing a “Super Mario 3D Universe” onto the system during a dry spell where not many games would be coming out for it.
@@DapperIndividual I think they will go for an Odyssey sequel, or a third Galaxy game or something. It would be stupid to not port 3D world. They don't have to change things, like they did with Treasure Tracker with the Odyssey levels. The Switch lacks a good platformer with GOOD co-op.
My favorite standard pizza topping is chicken, but I have also had good experiences with macaroni and cheese pizza, turkey/cranberries/butternut squash pizza, and the kind with whole basil leaves and sun-dried tomatoes on.
My favorite pizza topping is ranch. What’s that? Ranch doesn’t count and you wanna know my actual favorite pizza topping? It’s hard to tell, the whole thing is covered in ranch
I wouldn't call it a topping. Ranch is a dip, or part of a specialty pizza, like chicken, bacon and ranch. If you're just putting ranch on a pizza, y u no dip? You can control the ratio if you dip.
I still think Mario strikers would be very fitting, even with these conditions. Especially if they plan to make more Mario sports games. Pizza topping: pepperoni!
That's not the worst one. The absolute worst one is the fucking shrine with the torches and water. Good fucking luck doing THAT without fire arrows. What were they thinking!?
Yeah but Cuphead is an Xbox/PC exclusive and I don’t think they’ll change that. I also heard somewhere that because of some contract the devs signed with Microsoft it can’t come to switch, I dunno if that’s true or not. But hey, if it’s ported that’d be awesome
Eric Benevides They have been talking about it for a while, then it came out that the A Hat In Time devs got their hands on a Nintendo Switch Development Kit, and now here we are with A Hat In Time coming to Switch very soon.
There are some awesome workshop levels you'll only have on PC though. Then again, they are adding a lot of mods into the game officially at this point so it might not matter that much. They need to port over the dabbing mod though.
Repetitive, grindy games work really well on handheld for me. I could get Graveyard Keeper on Xbox right now, but if I play it on my tv, I have to give it all my attention. But if they bring it to Switch, I can play it in handheld while listening to podcasts on RUclips. Like I did for Stardew Valley.
Don't get me wrong cheese is one of my favorite things ever so i'm not topping shaming, but cheese is just one of the 3 things you need to even make it a pizza, crust, sauce and cheese. It's delicious and amazing, but i don't consider cheese a topping on it's own. Would you call the cheese on a cheeseburger a topping? no! it's a CHEESEBURGER, the pickles and the ketchup are the toppings!
Aside from classic genres like RPG, FPS, RTS and Platformer; the switch is a prime place for party games. Stuff where you either have several joycons in the hands of yourself end friends or one joycon that's passed around after each turn. Things where you work together or against one another to achieve a goal. Another is the classic beat 'em up style games. Just you or maybe you and friends teaming up to kick butt and take names. Either through local couch co-op or online co-op. Fight to see who gets the higher score or just enjoy the story and gameplay from beginning to end. As far as pizza I'm a meat guy myself. Pepperoni is my main choice. And a bit of ranch on the side to dip my pepperoni pizza into before each bite.
This was one of my favorite videos from you in a while. Really liking vids about specific topics like this. I understand the need for broader content though.
I know it’s already on the switch, but Captain toad is the perfect example of a game that was originally for one console and got ported to the switch and is now a “perfect fit”. The game has bite sized levels, each only taking a couple of minutes to complete, allowing for the player to play a level or two on the go. However, the game also has a wealth of content in terms of challenges and collecting gems in order to satisfy the more long term players. I don’t think this has been mentioned much, but the switches portability also super increases replay value. If I’ve beaten a game, or I’m playing something grindy, it’s easy for me to sit down on the couch and watch tv while playing any of these games.
I think cuphead is perfect for the switch, 3 reasons 1 you have the quick play you mentioned 2 the graphics are amazing but not heavy so it could run well without losing eyecandy 3local coöp
Daan de dodo To be fair, that’s an Xbox/PC exclusive,. It wasn’t published by them, so it _could_ come to the Switch later on, but that’s pretty unlikely all things consideref.
You might think this is a joke, but I once had a pizza with shredded turkey, dried cranberries, butternut squash, and white sauce at a weird hipster pizza place. It was amazing.
What makes a game perfect for switch? Hmmm games that don't require Wi-Fi for on the go play so mainly single player or games with online and offline multiplayer

Well, the Switch is at least going to be home to the mainline Shin Megami Tensei series soon. So it seems Atlus will be going under the philosophy of Persona for Playstation, and SMT for Nintendo (which is kinda fitting anyways since the NES is one of the systems where the Megami Tensei series started).
@@CaptainMarvel4Ever there's no exclusivity deals between those two ETRIAN Odyssey on 3ds was why Persona Q series is on 3ds and power issues As for persona 5 Crimson I hope it comes to switch to shut people up about a secret philosophical bullshit that never existed but was implied by console warring shitposters on 4chan.
Screw Persona 5, I want a Persona 2 remake on the switch with revamped gameplay (simplified like Persona 5) and both innocent sin and eternal punishment fused into one solid game. Persona 2 has the best story of all persona games imho and I think it's a shame how people don't seem to even know about it.
Persona definitely is a good idea for switch. Golden was good for many reasons, but the portability was half of them. Now that the vita is getting old I would say there's a good chance of P5 on Switch. Playstation could still bribe Atlus not to though.
The main persona games are PlayStation exclusives and will NEVER see the light of day on any system that is not a PlayStation system Like Insomniac, Atlus has a loyal and close partnership with Sony and has a preference for developing PlayStation games. Maybe their new project, called Project Re fantasy will be multi platform and be on switch or Catharine Remaster, but not a persona game
Having an expansive adventure that involves collecting and catching roaming quirky creatures and creations inside small spherical vessels both of varying features and attributes helps A LOT
Crypt of the NecroDancer works really well on Switch. The game was originally designed for the four arrow keys on a keyboard, so the Switch's four separate direction buttons works extremely well. For example, there are some actions you can assign to pressing opposite directions simutaneously, which just doesn't work on any other console's D-pad. And the fact that you can play the game with just the left joycon allows you to swap hands wenever you want, which is just not something you can do with a standard controller. After all, a game about constant, rhythmic button presses can tire your thumb out, especially in the faster zones, so being able to swap hands at any time is pretty great.
Pepperoni and pineapple? Together? That doesn't sound like it would work well together. Pepperoni has a certain kind of spice and savory that is very unlike ham, and it doesn't sound like that would mesh with pinapple. i do like pineapple on pizza though
Any fighting game. Give me Tekken, Marvel Vs. Capcom, Soulcaliber, Mortal Kombat. It's all short fights and it's local multiplayer. It can't be better than that!
I thought this was a wonderful analysis Arlo, and I especially found it interesting as a developer who's hoping to release his game on Switch next year. Love this type of content from you! =D
We need more traditional 2D fighting games. Yes, we have Street Fighter 2 37th Edition and the Anniversary too. And it's good we're getting FighterZ. But what about Marvel Vs Capcom? Injustice 2? Mortal Kombat x? There is no better genre to give someone a joycon on the go than 2D fighters.
Jaime Fresnedo well we have also gotten blazblue cross tag battle. Mortal Kombat 11 is coming to the switch. Injustice 2 is something I hoped would come to the switch but it didn’t sadly. I’m sure the next Marvel vs Capcom game will come to the switch because Capcom and Nintendo have a decent relationship.
I'm going to say no... not that I have any facts to back that up. Now that I think about it, I've never seen Arlo & Elfo in the same room at the same time either though...
The answer is no. Nat Faxon is the voice of Elfo, while Arlo is actually a blue muppet and is not voiced by a human. But if he was, it wouldn't be Nat Faxon.
Didn't they eventually release it on the Wii U? Like a few months after the Switch came out? It was also on the Wii too, but unless you've been saving up your Wii Points, that's a closed door now.
I mean a NEW snap. The TV would have been used as 3rd person perspective to see a wide range, third person view of the environment. The gamepad would literally be the camera in a first person angle. You see the Pokemon on screen, then point the gamepad in that direction then... SNAP! It's sadly a concept that would have only worked so well on the Wii U. Missed opportunity imo.
It was the expectation of games like what you just described that had me in line at midnight to pick up my Wii U on launch night. Unfortunately that dream fell short and the Wii U's potential was squandered. Sure there were a lot of really great games on it, but very few actually made use of the hardware & it's unique features. My personal favorite missed Wii U game is Pac Man Vs. That was one of the most fun party experiences on the Gamecube, and it's downright criminal that the Wii U never received a version. Sure there are a few Nintendo Land games that emulate part of that gameplay, but the ability to totally flip who was in control with a Power-Pellet was what really made Pac Man Vs. the experience it is.
PORTAL 2 with LOCAL CO-OP! Idk how well it would work, nor do I care. I just want it. Any my favorite topping is strawberries Just kidding its pepperoni
Swampy Swamperton probably wouldn’t work. The game has a split screen feature so maybe it’d work for the tv, but the switch’s screen is so small that I don’t think it’d work personally.
@@YummyYusko wireless coop would be the best option I feel they should have brought back download play so playing a game with 2 switches doesn't require 2 games most of the time
Yo, Konami. You allowed Castlevania people and elements into Smash, and we’re already indebted to you for that. However, I must beseech thee once more on behalf of the series. Can we get Symphony of the Night on Switch? Please? It doesn’t have to be a remake, just a port’s fine. Metroidvania-style games are great for switch. They’re big areas, relative to 2D gameplay, lots of exploration, yet there are enough save rooms to play in short bursts, and you can always pop off and pop back on again. I do this often with my Vita, but I feel like, especially with Castlevania now in Smash, your sales would shoot up. So please? Also the only topping or other form of condiment anything needs is salt. Ignore that I can’t have pizza in the first place.
What makes you think Konami has _any_ interest in video games any more? Unless they can make a pachinko slot machine out of Symphony of the Night, that puppy's stuck in old-game limbo for good. Also, salt pizza? That's so gross I'm amazed it _hasn't_ become a food fad yet.
My boss at work regularly adds salt to his pizza. It also may be a contributing factor towards his various health problems. That said, if you love extra salt on your Pizza, try Anchovies!
I'd guess a lactose intolerance. It's very common and a hard one to get around, especially since fake cheeses don't melt right. At that point you might as well just eat flat bread.
This War of Mine. One of my all time favorite indie games that I could easily play for as short or as long as I want to. The latter is tricky, given its strict survival sim gameplay. Which is all the more reason for me to want it on Switch. I love a rewarding and thoughtful experience.
I usually play on PC so the best switch games for me are either stuff that's nintendo only, or stuff that would look basically just as good if i were to play it elsewhere (2D games and re-released older games). I love the switch and it's portability, but if i were to play Doom or Wolfenstein on switch, I wouldn't be able to stop thinking "man, this would look nicer if I were playing on pc..."
I think Kingdom Hearts would be great. The different worlds act as a mission structure. I can pick it up play through one world (Wonderland, Agrabah, Holloweentown Ect....) and then put it down. I also really want to play the main games 1+2 on the go.
I feel like you hit the mark with this video. I always have been in a spot where I like the more meatier games on my handheld devices, but haven't had very many that allowed me to progress at my own pace or play in short bursts. Rougelikes and open world games feel very well at home on the Switch.
I just want to say I love your content Arlo! I think you are awesome and I want to thank you for being such a good and wholesome content creator and my daughter and mom and I of course love you and your channel! I want to meet you someday. And I also agree with sausage on your pizza! That’s one of my favs lol.
I haven't finished the video yet, but to be fair: Consoles generally have some form of target audience in mind. A good example, the N64's target audience was largely pre-teens and the PS1's was going for a bit older demographic (with exceptions, of course). By carving out slightly different niches, they can avoid other companies sucking away their consumers as much as possible. For example, the Wii was so successful not just because of its motion controls and such, but also because it was marketed to often-ignored demographics. This basically left the console with no competition from Sony or Microsoft. As such, a game can be 'perfect' for the main demographic a specific system is targetting.
N64 was for Pre-teens? I'm sorry, you and I must have had very different N64 collections. Perfect Dark, Golden Eye, and Conker's Bad Fur Day were not for the pre-teen audience. There are a large number of other titles that skewed toward the older demographic in their design intention. Majora's Mask is straight up dark when you pay any attention to the story. On top of that (with the exception of Kirby & Yoshi,) nearly every Nintendo series is designed to be enjoyable to everyone of all ages and skill levels. They're like the Pixar of video games (but since they've been around doing this longer, wouldn't that make Pixar the Nintendo of movies?) It's the mindset that something that doesn't exclude children from enjoying it, therefor can not be enjoyed by adults. It's shallow thinking that causes those people to miss out on some of the greatest movies, books & games ever created. Finally, going back and dusting off my old N64 has a ton of fantastic games I enjoy playing to this day. The PS1...not so many. Oddworld is probably the one that still holds up best, but those gems are far fewer and further in between on the PS1.
+Matthem Campbell No no no no. You are extremely ignorant. For an example, the Wii's massive success was *LITERALLY* because of the motion controls. The audience only bought Wii just for that with Wii sports. Also, just as the above commenter said. N64 was absolutely not targeted at "pre-teens" as you state. The highest demographic was mostly adults. In fact, all consoles and handhelds have always been owned and used BY ADULTS no matter how much Nintendo advertised their past systems to kids. If you sent your comment to people on ResetEra, you would be bombarded with facts and data on how wrong your thought process is.
I think a generalization of the concept in both odyssey and zelda that could be taken and applied to other games is this "choice." I assert that by adding more choices in play style could taken any game and elevate it to "Switch" perfectness. For me I want a new console experience, the handheld ability is more or less just an interesting add-on, rather than something that attracts me to the system, I say that BUT, I think more choice and particularly that choice of being able to jump in and out of games is something that my new adult-life-schedule would really love in console play. Here's an interesting idea to add choice into some previously longer playing experience: Optional recap, what if your game could generate a 30 second recap of the highlights of the game thus far, that way you could be brought up to speed and wouldn't feel like you've lost when you pick up in the middle of a battle. Or what if in longer narrative games you had the option to pick up exactly where you left off OR spawn back at a spawn point where you could choose to take a different story path? In short I think whether you are playing handheld or console, adding choice whether to play in a long immersive play session, or in short bursts would help any game, and even when it's not a choice, when your work calls because it's your night to be on call and you happen to be in the middle of something it would be nice to change mid playing field from something long, to something short and fun.
Keep in mind with things like certification requirements, there may have been tines when companies were required to use the "gimmicks" of the hardware to be allowed on it. Note that these requirements could change later on, but it could be a reason why early on publishers would say "forget it".
A proper civilization game for the switch would fit well due to it being turn based, you can save whenever and the touch screen / motion controls could mimic a mouse.
Hey Arlo, I have an idea about a video you could tackle: What do you think is the future of third party games on Switch? Yeah, Doom Eternal is gonna be awesome, but with the Xbox [insert name here] and Playstation 5 rumored to come in a year or two, the Switch will soon be two generations behind, so what do you think will become of third parties on the Switch?
Ok, I have an idea, what if, just stay with me now, what if they make a switch that has oh I don’t know MORE POWER THAN THE ONE WE ALREADY HAVE! Crazy idea right? Nintendo has never released a more powerful version of a console they already released, oh wait
Hugh Quinn But people may be outraged if a good majority of the games would only work on the more powerful one, especially when the OG Switch would hypothetically only be two or three years old
yeah this list is pretty much what i consider perfect for a beefy portable: easy to drop-in & drop out; lots of content that can be either 5 minutes or 5 weeks, an art style that can still look nice even at lower resolutions & local co-op if possible

Super Mario 3D world? It wouldn't stop Odyssey sales. It's PERFECT because of the 4 player co-op. Just go somewhere and you can hop in with 4 joy-cons. Besides, Captain Toad Treasure Tracker is on the Switch, so it's only normal to have 3D world to it too.
ziggy schroder or at least something similar to Splatoon 2 where it’s somewhere between a new game and enhanced port

Dirty sinner
Same, I'm not even joking. If there's no ranch on my pizza, I don't even want it.
Ranch is good for the pizza crusts but to put it on the pizza itself? That's a bit too chaotic evil for me 😂
I wouldn't call it a topping. Ranch is a dip, or part of a specialty pizza, like chicken, bacon and ranch. If you're just putting ranch on a pizza, y u no dip? You can control the ratio if you dip.
The majority of my family prefers pineapple. Me? Pizza with no toppings.

Cuphead
Nintendo and Microsoft are friends more then ever now. Make it happen!
And btw I’m a plain cheese guy
YES!!! I freaking want Cuphead so much!!
CartmanBrah EXACTLY
Probably not gonna happen, unfortunately. Microsoft needs more exclusives for the Xbox.
Yeah but Cuphead is an Xbox/PC exclusive and I don’t think they’ll change that. I also heard somewhere that because of some contract the devs signed with Microsoft it can’t come to switch, I dunno if that’s true or not. But hey, if it’s ported that’d be awesome
Super Gaming Crew i actually would love this. That and sea of thieves.
A hat in time is perfect for switch tho
Good thing it's coming to it
I believe your wish came true. A Hat in Time is coming soon to Switch.
Eric Benevides They have been talking about it for a while, then it came out that the A Hat In Time devs got their hands on a Nintendo Switch Development Kit, and now here we are with A Hat In Time coming to Switch very soon.
I knew about the anoucment but for real Nintendo fans will eat that game up it's cute and fun
There are some awesome workshop levels you'll only have on PC though. Then again, they are adding a lot of mods into the game officially at this point so it might not matter that much.
They need to port over the dabbing mod though.
Bacon is clearly the best topping. It's bacon, it makes everything better. (Sausage is the second best choice).
biollante879 BACON DOMINOES FOR LIFE!!!
Repetitive, grindy games work really well on handheld for me. I could get Graveyard Keeper on Xbox right now, but if I play it on my tv, I have to give it all my attention. But if they bring it to Switch, I can play it in handheld while listening to podcasts on RUclips. Like I did for Stardew Valley.
another game that would fit this criteria really well would be an animal crossing game
Fallout Shelter

I fricking love the little animated people you put in the video, they were a nice touch.

I used to be like that, then I expanded out to a few extra toppings.

Shoutout to cheese. It's not the topping we deserve, but the one we need.
Cheese may just be one of mankind's greatest culinary inventions.
Putting cheese on pizza? Gross.
Executer 66 the only one I need!!!

"It exists"
You mean including RPGs
Long grinds are perfect for handhelds because it's player focused
I think cuphead is perfect for the switch, 3 reasons
1 you have the quick play you mentioned
2 the graphics are amazing but not heavy so it could run well without losing eyecandy

As unlikely as it is to happen, my one big wish is for the Persona series to get some Switch ports. Portability is such a turn-on for JRPGs.
@@CaptainMarvel4Ever there's no exclusivity deals between those two
ETRIAN Odyssey on 3ds was why Persona Q series is on 3ds and power issues
As for persona 5 Crimson I hope it comes to switch to shut people up about a secret philosophical bullshit that never existed but was implied by console warring shitposters on 4chan.
The main persona games are PlayStation exclusives and will NEVER see the light of day on any system that is not a PlayStation system
Like Insomniac, Atlus has a loyal and close partnership with Sony and has a preference for developing PlayStation games.
Jist: There are good games on the Switch, and there are good games For the Switch.

I seriously thought this was an older video being recommended to me, but it came out yesterday.
Must be a popular topic.
Is Arlo the voice of Elfo in Disenchantment?
I'm going to say no... not that I have any facts to back that up.
Now that I think about it, I've never seen Arlo & Elfo in the same room at the same time either though...
The answer is no. Nat Faxon is the voice of Elfo, while Arlo is actually a blue muppet and is not voiced by a human.
But if he was, it wouldn't be Nat Faxon.
That show is absolutely awful so I hope Arlo didn't waste his time on it
Just saying, Pokemon Snap would have been PERFECT on the Wii U.
Pokemon Snap isn't perfect anywhere.

Why can’t you have pizza?

Yellow Triangle it makes me happy that it’s been almost a year I think and people are still doing this.
They're like the Pixar of video games (but since they've been around doing this longer, wouldn't that make Pixar the Nintendo of movies?)
It's the mindset that something that doesn't exclude children from enjoying it, therefor can not be enjoyed by adults.
Personally, i really want slime rancher on the switch.
