8 more days till we can say it's been 5 whole months since the last one. If that's not a sufficiently long enough time to crave another one and not draw ire for asking for it like has been happening more and more lately, I don't know what is.

And that's my problem with switch/Nintendo right now.
Things are not perfect they are in need of tweaking and refinement and I don't trust Nintendo not to release a new iteration of the switch no matter how much they deny it.
I will wait until I can get a switch for $199, I don't care if it's refurbished used as long as it's in good physical condition and more or less complete I'll buy it for that.

I'm 26 and I never plan on quitting gaming. A lot of people quit gaming cuz they have shallow taste and don't branch out, only playing trash like cod and gta, which gets boring very quickly, ie "growing out of it", but if you play the good games and branch out, you might as well be gaming as a 100,000 year old vampire.

Hey the Wii u is an amazing but underrated counsel. I loved it, but I was also 9, now that I'm older, I'm more of an rpg person now, and the switch has that pro over wii u. But that dosent mean the Wii u isn't worthless now, there are still a good ton of Wii u games the switch dosent have yet, for example Xenoblade Chronicles X, mario 3d world, Tokyo Mirage Sessions, you see what I mean.

For me, personally, Switch is everything I could ever ask for. I'm a student, I rent a small room and don't have access to TV most of the time (also, tbh, if I ever was to buy one, it would be with game console in mind) so no Xbox or PS could ever work for me (even if it had those awsome Nintendo games). So, beforehand, my main console was 3DS, on which, granted, I played mostly Pokemon. But now? Switch may not be the most powerful console of the generation but I don't care! It can be a handheld! And has third party games to which I didn't have access because of crappy PC! It's awesome, take my money please!

i love playing handheld, im terrible when games are on the tube or flatscreen, and I have some motion sickness so playing on large screens makes gaming awkward for me. Switch has a nice big screen for a handheld but not too large either.
Pokemon on DS was def fun, I miss what they've done on the older DS games before Sun/Moon, mostly because I'm a D-Pad player, I can't stand using joystick for movement, its unreliable. As proof, kirby doesn't use the move I want him to because the system decides wherever the stick is but my thumb/brain doesn't know the timing , if that makes sense.
@@drakke125Channel I guess accuracy of the stick is way less important for Pokemon than something like Kirby. At least I didn't experience any issues.
That is, until I grabbed Ocarina of Time and apparently I was playing it so aggresively that this grey piece of rubber fell off and I had to glue it back on the stick xD If normal stick is awkward for you, imagine plaing on half smaller, bare one!

I have a similar circumstance. Also a student, I have an Xbox but it’s big and clunky so it barely sees use when I’m at school. The Switch is perfect for my desk space.

I actually love the switch ... no seriously, love. It feels like Nintendo is back in their prime - such wholesome, good quality, yet light hearted games on one of the most charming consoles in a long time. It feels like I’m a kid again playing gameboy or Nintendo 64 - I’m excited to bring my switch to friends places and experiencing Nintendo goodness together. I just don’t like playing it, it fills me with joy to share this fun with my friends. Am I crazy? Or am I just having a quarter life crisis? I’d like to think a bit from column a, a bit from column b.

Definitely brings those N64 feels heavy. Found myself feeling the exact same way I felt as a kid playing Perfect Dark and Conkers for hours on end with Warframe & Smash Ultimate on the Switch, shit puts you in another world lol Can't wait for Saints Row and MK11.

I just bought my switch 2 days ago. And my exact thoughts were "it's been years since I've felt excited to go home and play a game". My fiancee and I bought New Super Mario Bros with our Switch and all I can think about during my day at work is going home and playing. It's a great feeling that I have missed.

That's what totally debunked anyone who was speculative of the consoles success. The fact that it can switch is honestly revolutionary for Nintendo and like you said, it just works. That Michael Patcher doesn't seem to know much about Nintendos business strategy either. Nintendo never was about having the most powerful dog in the fight. Looking way back, the original Game Boy was technologically weaker than all of its competitors (Sega Game Gear and Atari Lynx) but it still blew them out the water. The original Game Boy had a massive game library, was far more durable and had a considerably better battery life than the competitors. I think the Game Boy was lighter too. The weaker hardware was a non issue to the Game Boys success

he's half right. As of now, we still have less 3rd party games. Where's my Red Dead Redemption 2, Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Spyro Reignited Trilogy, Call of Duty or Battlefield(I don't really care for these shooters but most people actually do care and want to play them), so on and so forth?
In terms of backwards technology such as cartridges may give 3rd party devs a hard time with porting their games into it since most of these cartridges are 32gb or less.
as for Pachter's other statement such as "missing the point of games getting away from consoles", nah console gaming is still going very strong. It's cheap and very efficient in terms of saving time such as instant access plug and play. No need to build a gaming pc or buy an expensive gaming PC for good quality gaming experiences. Which most gaming PCs are around the 700 to 1000 price range for minimum good quality gaming.
Not to mention more options to play great exclusive games, the Switch isn't missing the point. More so gives more options to play how ever we want. Such as making the Switch a secondary or primary platform for everyone. The switch is so cheap to the point that you can even own 2 platforms. Me? I own pretty much every platform. I have tons of options, library of high quality games to play from. I want to play Spider-Man, I go to my PS4, I want to play Okami HD on the go or while laying down on my bed before going to sleep, I have that.
To sum up everything I said, The Switch isn't a bad or amazing device. It's a great secondary console to complement with your primary console or vice versa, it compliments your secondary console. More easy access to even more library of games you normally don't get. It doesn't have to be a plug and play system causing most people to unplug their primary console and plug in their secondary, so much time wasted, but with the switch. Nah, you can play both the Switch and PS4 simultaneously if you wanted to, which in my books a superb idea in the books.

A while ago, I was the only kid in my school with a Switch. Now, many people have the console and are becoming Nintendo fans. Many people with PS4s and Xboxes are being sold in turn for a Switch. I hope they can continue making great games!

It's a lot of work to make a new IP when nintendo already has so many they've been forced to abandon many already. But if we do see one it'll likely be a multiplayer focused game. Something to help sell online, and multiplayer focused games tend to sell themselves with Twitch and content creators.

@Certified Normie I havne't played mario maker 2, I'm kind of more put off nintendo now, it's even more dry than before and a lot of it's 3rd party exclusives end up on steam (where for the most part I'd prefer to play them there)

Caleb Mendoza I love Super Paper Mario too. The story is by far the best in any of the PM games, it’s just the aesthetics and mechanics that hold it back. But I still thought it was very quirky and fun, just like a Paper Mario game should be.
I disagree with the statement of the gameplay and looks are holding the game back but I can see why some people would not like it for it is not the traditional paper mario gameplay. And while some could say I’m nastulga blind since it was my first paper mario I just really love this game .

I want the next model to be a “Ruggedized” water-resistant, drop-proof model. I think that would really sell with parents and college-age kids who do a lot of public transit. Awesome if it were more powerful, had more memory, etc, but the main thing is adding toughness to the Switch.
I would love that. Especially with joy con drift. And also as a college kid I’d love to bring it on the bus. That is a great idea sir.
I wish they will never make a “new” console. I just want them to make Switch 2, 3 and so on. Just make it more powerful, more stable joycon, make everything better. And everything is backwards compatible, so Switch 2 can play Switch 1 games, but not the other way around. And both uses the same eshop that keeps getting updated. That way we won’t need constant remakes of games, everything is just playable as it is on the newest machine.
Most likely what Nintendo plans to do. NSO seems like it's designed to be easily transferred to the next Switch console. Now they just need to release an improved Switch every 5-6 years and things will be golden. Not to mention continue adding older platforms to NSO.
Instead of trying something new you will be stuck with the same experience, over and over, every day, forever, until you DIE... Of boredom

I'd be REALLY happy to hear that the Switch goes on for WAY longer than the normal console life cycle. It's SUCH a good system! I got it two days after it came out, and yet it STILL feels so NEW to me! It's just SUCH a great console which I couldn't love more!
Depending on how tech progresses that may just happen, though if there is big shakeups in tech I wouldn't be too surprised if they put out a followup with some nice power bumps.

My wild theory: If the Switch wasn't selling like hotcakes over the holidays, Metroid Prime 4 wouldn't have been restarted and would be sold as a last ditch effort to get good sales in the short term, causing Metroid Prime 4 to be considered the worst Metroid game ever. Good thing the switch sold well so Metroid Prime 4 can be a great game and not rushed.

@@colorbar.s Honestly they aren't... I had fun with SWSH but... It was honestly a pretty ugly game, especially the wild area which looked drab and honestly was so laggy it was crazy. I bought the DLC still because I hope the new areas are better looking but. I feel doubts. I gave SWSH a chance and the best I can say about it is... It wasn't as depressing as a game trying to be depressing and I didn't absolutely hate it.

Arlo, a pro controller costs as much as an Xbox One wireless Controller with the Play and Charge kit. When you buy a Pro controller, you not only get a great controller, but also a charge/sync cable that you can use with the Pro Controller. With Valve's support of the open controller standard that Nintendo used for their controller you can use that same controller on the PC while playing steam games.
Also it's not $80 everywhere. For example here the manufacturer's suggested retail price is 80€, but it gets sold for 60€ at some places. I got mine for 55€. UVP (MSRP) 80€, price on the website of the shop was 70€, price tag in the store was 60€ and at the checkout it was just 55€. Yes, the original one from Nintendo. The controllers from Sony and Microsoft aren't much cheaper.
John Quigley III not everyone wants the things it comes with though, some people just want a controller that wont have a high chance of breaking and not everyone buys that xbox one controller, you also dont mention that isnt the only xbone controller avaliable and how nintendo doesnt have any other first party option
@@sangan3202 There are a bunch of 3rd Party Controllers that also are designed for the Switch. I don't have any issues with including all that comes with the Pro controller, since I can use that USB cable to charge my Switch with.

40-50 is what you get a ps4 controller for, including cord.
Also PlayStation and xbox's controllers are more supported on pc than the switch controller.

I wonder if this was a small shot fired at michael patcher who always makes outlandish predictions. Like that the vita would overtake the 3DS and sell like hotcakes. For the Switch he predicted it would utterly fair this year, and wouldn't be able to hit 10 mill. But what arlo doesn't realize is Patcher is probably contrarian for the sake of attention.

The memory cards are also a huge issue since you have to buy psn specific memory cards which will break very easily and what not, allong with being expensive.
Two of my memory cards are corrupted, one completely un-repairable.
@@nottelling9444 I sorta doubt it even despite those glaring issues. Sony was focusing it's resources mainly on the PS4 at the time, they weren't really putting anything into the Vita. And in the end games are the true deciding factor. There was just no reason to commit to buying a PS vita, even in the early days of the PS4 we only had Bloodborne, there's no way Sony could have given 2 separate platforms enough attention. The Vita had lots of Jrpgs were be developed for it by third parties, but this means nothing for it outside of a japanese audience.
@@benmidnightflame I think they were focusing on ps4 because they new ps vita was a flop; but maybe true.
I mean I personally used to use the vita allot to play allot of psp games with dual sticks but that was till I started having the aforementioned issues.
I personally tell everyone to stay away from the vita because of how unreliable and unstable it is, I actually just got reminded that I should hack my vita and try and salvage my data off my memory card.
Also kinda considering hacking my switch due to the no saving data to memory card thing which is a huge issue.

With smash DLC and a lot of great looking games coming up this year. I think the Switch will consistently stay up in sells
Yeah, Smash, Pokemon, Fire Emblem, and Animal Crossing (plus the smaller games and whatever surprises Nintendo has in store) are definitely going to push sells this year.
For sure then you have 1000s of people like me who said "man that looks cool but I'll wait until enough games I want are on it to make it worth it" I finally decided it was worth it several months ago and I barely touch my ps4 now. Just imagine all the new buyers when the game library expands even more

That would’ve been what the 3DS would’ve done, but instead we got the literal ultimate Smash Bros game and we’ll most likely be getting one of the biggest newest and most full Pokèmon games to date.
The Nintendo switch is up to about $145 million sales so considering the Christmas stuff hasn't come in yet and we won't know until March they might have actually beaten the PS2
They are currently around 141 million or so.
I'll miss dual screen gaming. Unlike motion controls or (I would argue) VR, dual screens are something that benefited a wide variety of video game genres. Granted, a lot of the time, it was something minor like being able to see your character stats or position without pausing the game or something relatively minor, but it was still great.
I disagree that motion controls don't benefit games. Have you not played any of the 3d Zelda games on 3DS and Switch? The way they help with aiming is extraordinary for a Console game. I would also argue that they add a new layer of fun.
I think the issue is that Nintendo is the only company that really takes advantage of them, with third party support being done in half-measured at best, and most often completely unsupported at worst.
I do miss dual screens though. While I absolutely hated being forced to use the second screen to play games, I do absolutely love it as a secondary screen for basic necessities like maps and inventory. People complained that Wii-U games didn't do enough with the pad, but honestly that's how I like it best. Just as an menu management screen, with puzzles and minigames being a great idea to throw on there (like lockpicking/hacking minigames).

The past year I've studied in a foreign land, having to share my kitchen, living room and tv with 20+ people, of which I knew basically no one. In those conditions, it would have been dangerous to leave a console behind in the living room, since it could be stolen quite easily. But having to hook up a console every single time I want to play would have been too much of a chore. For these conditions the Switch was perfect: Hook up when the tv was available, bring it with you if it wasn't. It has quickly become my favorite console ever because of its gimmicks
Another reason why I love the switch! Just make sure somebody doesn’t steal the switch from your living space!
