100%. My 11yr old batted at the bottom of the line up in 10U last year. In 12U he bats 3rd and is the only kid on his team to homer this season (2x). Coaches are amazed that he is never late. All he has done is watch teacherman's videos, and he drills them constantly.
Richard..congrats on your successes I remeber talking with you and Tom at high school baseball web when our kids were young..always challenging the PCR guys from texas..
Long time follower ! Off topic, but I don’t think I’ve ever heard you talk about bat weight. I’m a slow pitch softball player and use your techniques. Just wondering your thoughts on bat weight
We tried this drill out 1 time and our daughter instantly started making more contact with the ball. She was late a lot, leaning forward a lot. Once we implemented this she’s been hitting well and hitting harder the last two weeks. Thank you for this!
That's usually considered a long swing, right? For example Elly De La Cruz stopped using the leg lift so he'd be shorter to the ball and not strike out as much.
Eloy on the White Sox does this too and have always felt he will be a very good hitter. If he can just go 500 ab's in a season you would see 40 hr's etc
What he means is that your weight should be on the back leg as you swing. You don’t shift so much as fall forward because you’re already loaded. Do the one legged drill until you can do it balanced every time. The feeling you get in the rib cage/hip area is what you want to feel in your regular swing. SN: you will be amazed at how hard you hit.
At contact, your weight should be on your FRONT leg. Your back leg should have zero to very little weight on it. Often it will actually be off the ground. This is a transfer of energy. You can not hit with your full power off your back leg. This guy is a crook that fools children and well meaning parents. This charlatan “teaches” one thing then does something completely different when he actually swings at a moving ball. Batting and pitching have a lot in common. You work against a firm front side while balanced and under control. Do yourself a a favor and look elsewhere for instruction.
@AZbone Before the swing, their weight is on the back foot. Sometimes the back foot comes up temporarily from the force of the swing, the front foot holds their weight back. Ohtani never puts any weight on his front leg before he swings.
@@thefirstkingridge before the swing it doesn’t matter where the weights at. Before the swing you could do jumping jacks. But when you swing, the weight will go from the back foot to the front foot. Just before contact 95 to 99% of the weight will be on the front foot. None of this horseshit this fraud teaches.
@@evanjarman2773 read my comment again. The weight is ON the front foot. This is true for every good big league hitter. None of the bracing against and hitting through nonsense.
as a S&C instructor, the position you are describing is called "Contrapposto", it's not limited to hitters, there are quite a few sports that utilize this body position. it is incredibly powerful if you can keep your rib cage over your rear hip socket.

Idk man, I'm not a big fan of the way this guy teaches people to swing. I think it works well for players that are at a very high level already, which might be his goal, but I think it's not great advice for the average player trying to improve. The swing mechanics he teaches will only inhibit guys to drop under the ball and pop everything up creating easy outs consistently. Most guys don't have the strength or bat speed to be able to pull this kinda swing off. I'm not saying his teachings are bad, I just think they are better suited for only high caliber players. I would never teach my young son to swing like that. The shoulder and barrel drop is a death sentence to most hitters.
I can appreciate your argument as I was in the same mind set a year ago…. I have 8 year old twins and a 14 year old that I work with when they are willing. I took it upon myself to give this a real try because if I can do it, I feel I can teach it! After about a month of doing all the drills and learning the in and outs of this it clicked. As in I felt the control and instant explosion I could create. My suggestion would be to give it a REAL try yourself and you’ll never go back! I feel I’m way ahead of the curve when I hear all these old heads saying the same stuff you’re saying.
I taught my buddies who loved baseball but never played how to swing with 4 of these videos. Both of em agree one lesson incorporating these teachings did them better off than anything theyd ever been told about a swing
I appreciate your perspective, as well as the fellow's who responded to you. I'm a base/soft ball lover who hasn't played in a few decades. Now Im trying to coach my daughter's team and I'm going to try this, but also keep in your thoughts in mind, as well.
In the early 90’s, LSU’s hitting coach Beatle Baily taught me this. Back then, we called it “thin ice.” Awesome stuff Mr Richard!!

Hey, I was wondering if you could help me with my sons timing. I am trying to teach him this stuff, but I have never played, and he is in 10u.
Did his average go up?
I learn more in 5 minutes of this guys training, than I did in 8 years of playing baseball. Phenomenal tips
Do you not know anything about hitting? This guy is a fraud
thank you.....GONNA START TOMORROW...awesome lesson!!!!
Great video instruction on keeping the weight on the back leg.
I freaking love your instructions man. They help so much. They’re also grounded in beautiful physics

Ted williams wanted a light bat. Go read his book.
Great advice
TM literally GIVING AWAY GOLD!!!!! He and Bauer have bulldozed the gatekeeper and are changing baseball forever
I’ve got visions of George Brett in my head watching this.
This reminds of Japans all time HR leader Sadaharu OH. He was great at holding the front leg.

If only I knew this back in little league and high school. But, not RUclips back then......
Nobody better

Does this type of swing training help in slo-pitch softball as well? Im trying to improve my batting power
Only if you want to hit more dingers
Love it!
I’m about to start lifting as soon as the pitcher comes set from the stretch. It was easy to do from the windup but more difficult from the stretch.
Hey teach, can you find some footage of people who look like they are trying this method, but not doing it with effectiveness?
Hopefully, Ronald Acuna sees this video 🙂
Wow is he ever shitting the bed this season.
Perfect lesson for my son
Where were you when I played?😢
Can someone tell me if you are supposed to be on one leg AS you are swinging or does the weight kinda not matter??

It’s simple, head over foot for balance.
But if it’s off speed you’re damn sure to be early…💨💨💨
Not if you don’t swing too early. I mean, there’s two separate things going on here.
Shohei Ohtani perfects this. Watch how light his front foot touches the ground
His front foot is firm on the ground at contact and his back leg is often off the ground. Even judge hit off his front foot.
