20mph Wales 3 Week Update

Three weeks on since the road speed in Wales changed from 30mph to 20, my thoughts and looking closer at the pros and cons....

I live in a 20 mph zone in Cheshire that has been designated this way because it is a residential housing estate. As soon as you reach a through route the limit reverts to 30 mph (or higher). This is a far more sensible approach than the Welsh blanket arrangement. My wife was in favour of the speed limit change in Wales until she made a trip to Mostyn yesterday. When she got back her comment was "that is just ridiculous"!

Good thoughts on the subject… haven’t seen the other videos and being a tad older, I realized that we live in a microwave society where people want everything “now”. While the situation has no affect on myself, i find that as I get older, I want to slow down my lifestyle enjoying the journey. 5-10 years from now nobody will really care. It doesn’t truly limit anyone’s freedom so why protest what appears to be good for the various communities… in no way would it hinder my visitation…

I have to admit.. if i had to drive 20mph everywhere there is a 30mph where I live it would drive me mad.. and I certainly would NOT be going on holiday anywhere there is a whole region employing that. There's also no reason for blanket 20mph.. 30mph normally is fine ; 20mph outside school and buildup areas.
Part of the not going to wales thing is we want to make it as tough to implement as possible. A reduction in trade may convince regions its a bad idea.. which may make it less likely to come to england. We think the policy is bonkers... and consider it a voting with our feet.. before our feet get reduced to 20mph.

Vote Labour out I was a Labour supporter not now nobody will come to Wales because of that stupid law and road works

A few months in and roads and businesses are all still busy, we will have to wait and see how the summer goes
