      Sony a7iii/a7C/a7iv

@@twiggystardust4636 question, I currently use an a6400 for videos and pictures. I take all of my photos and videos at the motocross track, my a6400 takes decent pictures but it’s nothing to write home about. I was looking to upgrade to a better camera for shooting photos and keep my a6400 for videos. However, I’m not sure which direction to go. I would still use both for video but mainly the a6400 for video, and my next purchase for pictures. Any suggestions?

@@bakerproductions9241 honestly I used to own the a6400 & regret not keeping bcus it honestly took the same pics & vids as my a7iii/a7iv! The autofocus was insane & the stills looked like super good! I always used my Sigma 16mm f1.4 lens DC DN lens & the 56mm f1.4 dc dn those two r the holy grail of lenses in the Sony APSC world. If u don’t own those yet, get those two lenses first then see if u still want to get a full frame, no joke that camera with good lenses will do full frame work. But if u still want to save up for a full frame mainly for the picture res/quality def save up & get the a7riii-a7rV those r the beasts for still/photography. If u wanna go a lil cheaper go for the a7ii-a7iii they do great video & stills! Just remember once u move up to full frame tho the camera body & lenses are even more expensive all of my lenses i own are all $1,200-3k & with a full frame u gotta save up for both. That’s why u should stick with the a6400 for now bcus it does identical work once u have the perfect lenses!

I’ve taken impressing photos with the Rii however at events it’s let me down multiple times, skin tones in post is a hassle, white balance underwater isn’t accurate, battery life absolutely sucks, noticeable amount of noise due to higher mp, the ergonomics are trash, one card slot and buffering is also not good. The rii was my introduction to mirrorless and now I’m now considering the riii or will give my money to another maker ..after years of using d750(s) and NEVER having a single problem at weddings to say I’m disappointed in Sonys reliability is an understatement, this is just my experience.

Question for Peter: I'm leaning towards buying the a7RIII, but the specs show that the view finder is higher resolution, 3.6M vs. 2.3M (a7III). Can you notice a difference when using the two of them? But more importantly, can you distinguish a difference in the view from the display monitors : a7RIII @ 1.4M vs a7III @ 900k? Wouldn't the a7RIII's display be better for determining if you missed the focus on a shot? And also: Do you feel that the a7III's 693 vs 399 phase detection helped it acquire focus quicker, like it seemed to do in your demo during this video?

Great comparison. I own the A7III, A7RIII, and A7RIV. The A7III is my workhorse for one important reason that I didn't hear you address...workflow. The R3, and especially R4 uncompressed raw files can bring even a pretty fast computer to it's knees. Of course this depends on how intense your editing is. I do a lot of composites and use a fair amount of radial and gradient filters. Those 61MP files are no joke.

A7III: Low Light Photography, Sports, and Video
      A7RIII: Landscapes, Portraits, and Weddings
The A7III is more of a entry level full Fame camera, but it doesn't mean that it's weaksause. The A7III has crazy low light performance due to having less megapixels than the A7RII. On the other hand, the A7RIII is more for professionals becuase it has that 42 megapixel count for Landscapes, Croping, and Large Prints.
If your looking to start off with a mirrorless camera, I would go for the A7III just because you get alot of features for a great price. But if you have money, then just go for the A7RIII becuase of the high megapixel count, which is 42.2 megapixels. But it's your choice tho, both are good cameras.

I opted for the a7riii. It was my first Sony body, and coming from a d850, I thought it would be tough to give the resolution I had become used too. Another concern for me was the EVF quality. I'm completely torn between the two. I do about video and photo, so couldn't decide on either because of that. I am worried about the editing of the A7Riii images. At 42MP is it very demanding on your pc to edit (say in Lightroom)? My PC is good enough but my travel lap top I'm worried won't cope with the bigger files. For wedding photography I'd love the 42MP quality but worried it takes years editing 1000 images. Your thought's? I'm currently in China and the price difference isn't that much to be honest. Thanks in advance and congrats on hitting 1k subs, your channel will keep growing with the great content buddy.

The RIII will give your images a completely different "oumph" to them, so if your main focus is to take great images I'd go for the RIII!
And it works fantastically in Videomode too so you got a great camera either way.
I have no issues editing the image on my macbook but it depends on what computer you have I guess.
Thank you so much, I hope you guys enjoy the content!

I mainly shoot wildlife, and I just shot an air show. So i need something with good AF, which would be better? I will be coming from a Canon 6D and 1D Mark IV. I will likely be using mostly Canon mount lenses such as the Sigma 150-600. Which would be better for me? I don’t shoot much video at all. I’ve looked at the A9 but that’s just too much for me to spend as I do photography as a hobby. Thanks!

I would absolutely go for the A7RIII due to the high resolution sensor. But I would also try to invest in to some native glass since it will be heaps better than any adapted.

Sony a7iii has 51200 ISO and a7riii has 32000...Is it really matter for low light photography since we are not using more than 6400 ISO...? Also a7iii ' s 12800 iso can beat by sony a7riii by its 42 MP by post edit ? I got only confusion on low light capability with these cameras ..Can you please give me a reply on this ?

    • @PeterLindgren1
      @PeterLindgren1  5 лет назад +1

Yeah, the thing is that the Sony A7III has bigger pixels in the cameras sensor which in turn lets in more light to each pixel. That means that you don't have to increase your ISO as high as the RIII to get the same quality in low light. The A7RIII however has a bigger sensor and when you compress the image the noise will be less apparent in images because of the higher resolution that is being compressed.
Hope that helped you to get more clarification!

Wow! So another camera pro I follow, Manny Ortiz just published a video saying that he’d choose the a7r3 if he was starting today which made me decide to come and do some research here with you, another camera pro I admire and follow.
I have a Sony FX3 and I use it to shoot video but I don’t feel like it is a photography camera even though I know I can get good photos out of it. I want to learn more photography and was looking for a starter camera and because at this point the price is about $1500 used, I think getting the a7r3 would be a great option for me to get started. Right now present time 12-11-19 they are the same price dang near in the used market. The 3 is like $1600 and the R3 is $1750. Just today I say a used R3 sale for $1625. That is crazy. But now eBay wants their taxes which cuts down on deals these days.

Hello. I am extremely torn between these two cameras right now. I am a freelancer who shoots a lot of different genres - events, real estate, interiors, portraits, sports, weddings, depending on the projects I get. But, my favourite style of photography is wildlife, always has been. I have recently got into video as well, for my commercial projects only. The reason I'm torn is because I know that the A7III is more than enough for any 'work' that I'll be doing in the near future. However, I still love wildlife photography and birds, and feel like the extra resolution or effective reach from the A7RIII could be crucial in situations. I don't normally print very large though, do make some prints here and there. The first lens I'll be buying for my Sony camera is the Tamron 28-75, since that'll get me started with most of my work. I will buy a telephoto lens later for wildlife. The difference between the two cameras is about $700 in my country. I could spend that money on a gimbal or some other lens or accessory. I would consider myself a semi-professional right now and am coming from APS-C. So, as a multi-genre photographer and videographer who's also into wildlife, which camera would be the right one for me? Sorry if I have jumped between several points, its just I really can't decide which one to get.

Hi! Well, the A7III will be more than enough for you to shoot with for sure. There is a slight decrease in the images of course but then again, it is not gonna be noticable unless you are doing prints or similar things that require a high resolution!
