- Опубликовано: 13 сен 2022
- George Wagner, IV is standing trial for the April 2016 murders of eight members of the Rhoden and Gilley families. Wagner IV faces 22 counts including eight counts of aggravated murder with death penalty specifications, aggravated burglary, conspiracy, tampering with evidence and forgery.
Wagner’s brother, Edward “Jake” Wagner, and his mother, Angela Wagner, have already pleaded guilty to taking part in the conspiracy to murder the eight Rhoden and Gilley family members over their desire to obtain full custody of the then two-year-old daughter Jake shared with victim Hanna May Rhoden. Angela and Jake Wagner have agreed to testify against their family members.
George “Billy” Wagner, the father of Jake and George, faces the same 22 counts.
On the morning of April 22, 2016, family members found Chris Rhoden, Sr., 40, and his cousin, Gary Rhoden, 38, dead in Chris’ mobile home on Union Hill Rd. Chris Sr.’s ex-wife, Dana Manley Rhoden, 37, and their children, Hanna May Rhoden, 19, and Chris Rhoden Jr., 16, were found shot in the head in their sleep in their mobile home down the road. Hanna May had given birth days earlier to a baby girl who was not harmed. Clarence "Frankie" Rhoden, 20 and his fiancee, Hannah "Hazel" Gilley, 20, were also found shot to death in their sleep. Their six-month-old son was in between them covered in blood but unharmed. Frankie’s four-year-old son was unharmed in the home as well.
Kenneth Rhoden, 44, was found shot once in the eye in his camper on Left Fork Rd. more than seven miles away.
Angela Wagner’s mother, Rita Newcomb, pleaded guilty in 2019 to a misdemeanor count of obstruction. She had been charged with forgery and obstruction of justice for lying about signing and notarizing custody documents related to Hanna May, Jake and George’s children. Newcomb has agreed to testify against her family members.
Billy Wagner’s mother, Fredericka Wagner, was initially charged with obstruction of justice and forgery for allegedly lying about purchasing a bullet-resistant vest for Billy. The charges were dropped after it was discovered a plate in the vest was manufactured after the homicides. Prosecutors have said they may refile the charges at a later date. Fredericka has been subpoenaed to testify.
The victims:
Christopher Rhoden Sr., 40
his ex-wife Dana Manley Rhoden, 38,
their children Christopher Rhoden Jr., 16, Hanna May Rhoden, 19, and Clarence “Frankie” Rhoden, 20,
Christopher Sr.’s cousin Gary Rhoden, 38,
Sr.’s brother Kenneth Rhoden, 44,
and Frankie’s fiancée Hannah “Hazel” Gilley, 20
The Wagners did it so they could get custody of the young daughter Jake had with his ex Hanna Rhoden, prosecutors said. Jake indeed won sole custody of the child, now 8, after the murders. The Wagners moved to Alaska. That all changed after authorities arrested them in November 2018, sparking a legal battle lasting almost four years.

I’ve seen many trials where witnesses aren’t shown on camera, but never where audio is hidden wth
I was just going to write what's happening. This isn't how American system meant to work. Sure, we don't need pictures. However, no sound? Unless it's a minor testifying then there's no reason to hide it from public. Hope they rethink this.
Right
yeah this is a dope stream of mostly silence.
@@twodeadsticks2882 may as well not be streamed at all. There's no point.
It doesn't seem right.
Please 🙏🙏 law and crime give us more analysis on what is happening in the courtroom since the online public is only seeing less than 50% of the testimony
Watching this trial, is like being at school and the teacher gives you a test on a "film" that you watched , but during the film the TV messed up but still the teacher expects you to take this test even tho half of the film didn't play. What's the point in live streaming? I can't follow along, because I'm missing so much testimony. We get bits and pieces and then it goes blank...I was so looking forward to watching this case on TV....but now , I have 0% interest.
If that isn't the truth I don't know why they even film any of it if you can't see it all it's like watching half a movie.
@@caroldeaton619 Yep, the Judge ,makes no sense, he allowed cameras in the courtroom, but before a witness takes the stand, they get to decide if they want to be filmed or heard. Law and crime is making money off of the adds....they don't care if we get to see or hear the testimonies. They should just cut the live stream.
I agree so disappointing...
Right? I’m over here thinking my TV is broken.
@@stacyhenry5578 Really where have you been? We heard from these people 6 years ago it's no secret who they are. And this isn't about their privacy this is about getting Justice for their family members, maybe they should have put their big girl panties on like thousands of families who have had their faces plastered all over the news and still testified when cameras were present. Maybe"" Law and Crime ""should turn their cameras OFF!!! Since the witnesses and Judge has made this a clown show!!! Besides I'm not the one making money from 8 dead family members with all these adds posted on this video. And I haven't watched this case since day one. So stick your sarcasm where the sun don't shine!!!!
Given up on this trial completely. Trying to fast forward through hours of blank screen is a PITA.
Me too it’s a shame I’ve been waiting 6 years for justice and not being able to get the whole story is frustrating,
Change the title of this channel to, " You might catch a few minutes of the Wagner Trial".
What's the point of broadcasting this if we can't see or hear anything for 90% of the time?
Has anyone ever heard of the audio being blocked? I’ve seen where the witness is not shown but never where the audio was turned off
I've never watched a trial with the audio off. The judge who made the decision to allow witnesses to block video and audio should have just simply said no camera's in the courtroom. What we are seeing from Law and Crime makes this trial look like a kangaroo court. I stopped watching after the first day!
ok so half of this is unwatchable. Why are they cutting out or just filming a blank picture of a painting?
Jeez, if you don't want cameras in the courtroom just say NO LIVE FOOTAGE
I’m with you! But there are some witnesses who did not want to be recorded.
How can he can sit there and hear about this baby crying, knowing it was covered in blood and not shed even a tear not even show any emotion!
I’m sure he is numb not only because he is stuck in the middle of this horrific crime his family commented but also by himself being dragged into it. He had no motive and his family admit he was not involved in the planning or shooting! He is alone in this world with a heavy weight on his shoulders! Judge not lest you be judged…..🙏
@@J-ellO the family said he helped to plan the murder and to cover it up. He did not pull the trigger but he helped with the car, shoes and disposed of evidence. That right there he is guilty of murder, at anytime he could have warned the family or told the police. He chose to assist in the murders therefore he is a murderer. And court systems are exactly for judging thank you. If god gave a crap it would not have happened.
Because they have had 6 years to prepare. Also as an ER RN we become immune. Also, when we do cry it’s usually privately or when we debrief
I thought you Meant the medical personal
@@J-ellO no one said he wasn’t involved in planning….. or being there…..they said he didn’t pull the trigger. They have him on surveillance as well. In Ohio the law is clear if you participate at all you can be found guilty of the crime as well.
Everything should be seen and heard by the public
I mean at this point why even Broadcast this trial? We would like to hear it all! I understand if a witness don’t want to show their face but the audio.. I mean seriously this is crazy at this point!!!!
How many times is the jury going to be shown the bodies through different witnesses? After once it seems would be cumulative.
Not being pictured during a videoed trial should be an option. Not being heard? Why not if you're telling the truth? We understand if you are emotional
What's the point of only showing parts of trial of the people who agree to be on camera and some of the police don't want to be seen either !! What a joke no transparency here ! We can't even make our opinion as to guilty or not makes me wonder shame on you ohio
I don't get the point of most of this video since so many opted out. Why not only air what has sound?
They can also opt out of audio.
❤️🙏🏽🕊I am so sorry for the loss of your loved ones. May God keep you and comfort you. 😔
Why even televise trial?
What is the point of broadcasting this if they are blocking out the majority? Who the heck knows what happened! If they don’t want to be recorded then just do audio! In other trials that is how it is done.
Exactly. Even in the Derek Chauvin trial, audio was still broadcast when a child testified, even though she was not seen on camera. There is no reason why they can’t do that here. Transparency is important.
What if the witnesses are scared of retaliation? They have a right not to be identified the press amd social media already have enough details.
Why on earth bother showing this when the majority of it is not shown or not even any sound on, it's pointless!
The original part of the courthouse was built in 1866 and the 3 floor add on was added in 1909. The ceilings are high so the sound is very hollow... echoes. You can see the old bead board panels and the cracked plaster walls. I wonder if it's horse hair plaster?
6:15:00 auto testimony
Thank you sir
No transparency in trail
Why broadcast if so much is being muted or redacted. Hope they all rot in prison. Can't watch since we can't get the entire story.
Courts are paid by the public every trial should be publicly recorded in it's entirety for anyone to watch or see
Is there a podcast that I'd covering this and reading the transcripts so we know what testimony we missed?
DID you find a podcast yet...I'm about to look as well..
@@Misc- No I haven't found one yet
After removing the redacted parts, and the muted parts, this video is really just ... 5 minutes long!
Are we expected to look at a picture with no sound 90% of the time? Why bother making a hours long video when you can make it 15 min tops? When I finally found some testimony they immediately went on break. W. T. F.
What's going on the 5 hours of the video with nothing, why start the video 5 hours before the trial start, glad I'm watching all these after the trial so I can fast-forward everything
I’m out, absolutely ridiculous, why live stream at all!
This is such a tragic event for Pike County and all those involved
40:52 Sound on then witness not recorded
6:15:03 Sound only for this witness
7:08:02 New witness sound & picture on
7:33:09 Jury dismissed for day
Just finishing up the last section after their break. Thank you to L&C for always streaming trials and MORE!!! Mods are AMAZING and chat family are kind, diverse, 🌶 spicy@feisty!! Y’all ROCK!!!
So is it less crucial what county responded?
He never moves his head just evil looking eyes.
Can't do this trial anymore, it's been 3 days, and I've heard only openings; which were awful.
thank goodness for the opening, without it we'd have no idea what evidence is being presented in the dark
L&C should've been able to record audio or completely cut out the ones who didnt wanna be recorded its ridiculous
George’s angry face really undermines his defense that he is just a simple guy who couldn’t have possibly pulled the trigger
Not to say this indicates actual guilt or innocence but it will impact how the jury views him
I’m not sure his face is angry? He looks awkward and unsure of what to do! Even nervous 😟
@@J-ellO I think so too, I don’t even think he is actually angry but the choice he is making to furrow his brows is more what I am referring to
Who has these precious babies now?
What did I miss? (How do you know?)
I don’t know. I’m so confused.
All these years, time & $ put into this case of such a tragic event & to have no audio at least UGHHH
Why videoing the trial when is like only a few minutes of audio! Waste of viewers time!
Why does a deputy get to hide his testimony? I don't understand.
Moving on to a different trial. Not much point watching when half the content is not there. Not even audio? Defeats the purpose of streaming it doesn't it,.
Isn’t the sheriff elected by the people? Why would he not want to be on camera? Odd.
Apparently there is or was some scandal involving the Sheriff - I don’t know the details - so it kind of makes sense.
The defendant looks like a waiter. Hopefully his attorneys will shake up his wardrobe soon!
We need more witnesses not walking dead its a murder trail not a movie trail
Waste of time I was looking forward to watching this trial but only allowed to see bits of it here and there what's the point they need to make their mind up all live feed or nothing...
That's not how it works in Ohio... the witness gets to decide to opt out of video/audio or not.
It will be interesting to see if his brother's and mothers testimony is allowed to be viewed.
They are the main witnesses who can put him at the crime scene and what his involvement was.
That's going to be tough for both sides.
i suspect they will not be able to opt out! especially after making generous plea deals it is in the publics interest to be able to see that they hold up their end! not to mention the limited rights they have at this point anyways!
No. It won't be interesting. Jake was the first witness. Feel free to go watch 5 hours of a blank and silent screen. As for me, I'm done with this trial and have lost all interest.
@@petem.3719 well you are either spreading lies or trying to show how you are not very bright!
@@stacyhenry5578 I'm guessing this is just one of those old school judges who's not very amenable to having cameras in his courtroom in the first place. I've seen equally gruesome cases tried and they just censor particularly sensitive bits of audio or video. Never both at once, and there's no excuse for not even identifying a witness. This trial is not open to the general public or reporters either. This tells me the judge is hostile to any coverage at all and is allowing the bare minimum of transparency required by law.
@@DrunkenGuitarGuy Local12 did an article where the judge has given the mother and youngest son the opportunity to opt out.
He’s getting the death penalty simply because of how heinous the crimes are and everyone else got off.
No one got off Jake and Angela pleaded guilty .Jake got over 100 years Angela 30nyears .only dad left for trial.
There was really no need to offer the mother and Jake a deal. The state had a strong case against them.
I believe Jake's deal took the death penalty off the table for all
Death penalty was removed for all…that was part of the plea deal Jake made.
💯 I agree. Ohio made a deal with the devil (Jake) just so they could get his disciples. The trigger man gets a deal and the non trigger man is facing the death penalty. How is that Justice? Never ever would the Prosecutor in my state make a deal like that. Ohio complained and complained about the millions of dollars it would cost to try the Wagoner's and that's exactly why Jake and Angela got a deal...with them pleading guilty they won't be tried, money problem solved!
I can't help but be disappointed, but I understand that the rules are different there. Witnesses always have the right to choose if they want video or audio displayed. I was definitely looking forward to understanding the case better though.
a war of objections during cross, now it’s getting lively
The sound sucks.
Really??
I understand not being seen but why not heard?
Every time I come on there’s nothing
I could watch from 6 hrs 15 minutes
6:15:01
Cause some of them don't won't to be recorded or on video
Theres a police officer around 5h:12m that talks about find'n the baby alive
The audio is terrible.
Per the Ohio State Supreme Court's rules of superintendence for the courts of Ohio, section 12, all victims and witnesses participating in a trial have a right to object to being filmed, videotaped, recorded or photographed.
I feel like something dodgy is going on with these people nor being filmed
What a waste of time - why bother recording when hardly anything can be seen or heard!
Who knows why the prosecutor is having this law enforcement officer describe securing this house in all this detail? I DO KNOW WHY. I also know that the prosecution is not going to accomplish what they’re trying to do by going through all this unnecessary detail.
WHYYYYYYY say this is a “public” trial and then not have anything available to the public?!? If they wanted it to be a closed trial it should have been. I have watched SO MANY trials where witnesses have the right not to be pictured. NEVER in a PUBLIC trial have I seen them be able to cancel out audio as well. It’s ridiculous and pointless and this never should have been published as a public, open trial.
Ozark cartel have nothing on this familly
Am I the only one that thinks there isn't much of a case against this guy? I've been fast forwarding through because there is so much nothingness, so I could have missed something.
Did our first witness opt out? Just joining for the day.
Lame coverage and/or court orders with this video and audio.
Man this trial is offputtingly fishy
Another day of hours of video of nothing. It's ridiculous. Five hours and 12 minutes is a witness we can see and hear.
how can we judge credibility if we can't see them speaking? and what are the cops hiding?
Here we go with the um um um again
She sure is special all right
MURDERS??? 22??? WHY???
Do you know what REALLY Bothers me??? NO one treats the defendant like a human being at all. No One On the Defenses side is treated with ANY Respect as even human.
5 HOURS OF DEAD AIR TIME !!! WOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
「上記のギフトのいずれかを選択できます」、
What a disappointment. nothing to watch.
Something tells me this defendant is not guilty
Me too I have the same gut feeling he is being railroaded by his disgusting family for the plea deal to remove the death penalty off their sentences
Why did his own mother and brother say that he participated?
@@Elizabethvaughan1 actually law and crime reported that both his mother and brother ( during their plea deals )said he shot no one and was not in on the planning
@@J-ellO I was asking because I have not followed this trial much . Thank you . Are they being compelled to testify ?
@@Elizabethvaughan1 Yes but I don’t know if the public will hear that testimony
What's the point of law and crime even posting these videos when more than half of it is redacted?
This doesn't make sense. Jake wants custody but his brother does the job, mostly. If I was jury I would throw this case out because his family aren't credible
The entire family worked together on many crimes not just the murders. He was involved in every bit of it and considering the family's testimony was corroborated by evidence, they are credible.
@@awright119021 sorry, I must have missed his DNA being found at the scene or elsewhere
Up until 5:15 app nothing
So far no evidence they’re pulling at straws it took them two years to get to this point I really don’t believe this family is involved it was pressure from the family to bring these people to trial if you pressure someone long enough they will omit things that they did not do which is a bad choice on their end
Who watch the whole 7 hours 😱lol
I've about given up to many blackouts 😱
The motive makes no sense.
It was a crazy family that worked together on everything they did. It isn't going to make sense to any rational person. It also doesn't make sense that he would go after the mother of his baby and his mother would join in by throwing a 2x4 at her, but it happened 🤷♀️
Has anyone ever heard of the audio being blocked? I’ve seen where the witness is not shown but never where the audio was turned off
Something just doesn’t feel right in this case
No. There's no excuse for totally blanking out a witness before you even know what they're going to say. This is one of those cranky old judges who would prefer this trial be conducted in a sealed off room in a secret location.
@@stacyhenry5578 Minors testify on media all the time. They just hide their faces. Law enforcement is never hidden like this. If there's a need to protect them, they'll testify via deposition, not on a witness stand. This is all on the judge. Some judges just hate cameras in "their" courtrooms. They consider it their private domain not to be defiled by the media.
Apparently it's a rule there that witnesses in every case have the right to choose.
