Hey great video. One problem I had with my 3020 was upgrading cpu from i3 4130 to i5 4590 is that it introduced a restart freeze issue. Everything else worked fine but any process which needed a restart would require a manual power off/on. Solution was to drop the i3 back in and upgrade the bios from version A02 to A03. Put i5 back in...all is well.
50 USD ? I'm buying a Dell Optiplex 3020 PC for 230 € instead of 800 € on Saturday because it's over 5 years old! My last PC is twice as old! Honestly they're super easy to work with because everyone has done it at some point or another. I really like them and they're super solid for a gaming PC on the low. I would say having a PC like is can sometimes be nicer because parts are so cheap in comparison to newer parts and for the most part do the same thing.

I've got this same PC with i5-4590 and am looking at upgrading for 'low settings VR' (I do realise it's probably not an ideal pc to make VR ready ), I was hoping you or someone could elaborate on the 'bottlenecking' thing. I haven't got a proper GPU yet and seeing as i'd like to use it for VR I was thinking of getting something like GTX 1070 or slightly better. I'm not really PC component savvy but it sounds as if it may be a problem if I upgrade the graphics card too much without upgrading the CPU? I was also wondering what I would do about that HD/SSD cage if my GPU is too big? the area measures almost exactly 250mm and most gpu's i've been looking at are 240 - 280mm. Should I not worry too much about size and try to house the HD/SSD somewhere else or should I be picking only the GPU's small enough to fit? Sorry for not being very clued up but any help would be much appreciated!
This a website I use for rough estimates of parts being a good fit for each other or not. pc-builds.com/calculator/Core_i5-4590/GeForce_GTX_1070/0A20UNlu/ Normally bottlenecks are exactly as you said the CPU being to weak. Since the CPU is doing a decent amount of the work you need something beefy. I’d say try finding an I7 4th gen and that should remove the bottleneck. If you upgrade and get the GTX 1070+ you’ll be limiting your FPS by around 20-30%.
I've done a couple of videos of my 3020 with a GTX 1070, it is a stellar rig for the cost of the build. The Pcie x16 2.0 port might be bottlenecking the card though, I have another Haswell ROG board with Pcie x16 3.0 to test it on at some point.
As long as you add a GPU, yes you don't really have to do any upgrading. I changed the power supply because I had a GPU that needed more power. You can just pop in a 1650 or something along those lines that just receives power off of the motherboard.
It doesn't mean it comes with an I5, I also comes with an I3, I wish I could find a guide for the I3 for I have one and I just need to know what gpu I can use that's cheap but decent.
Nowadays, these optiplex are last resort and I wouldn't spend over 100$ for an i5/i7 model, simply because longevity and ryzen APUs are getting cheaper like the 2200g and other processors along the line. For like 300$ you can get a good future proof build !

@@KryptonicHD forgot to mention the 80 dollar GTX 960 I got yesterday for it haha. But thank you! I worked super hard on it! It's a gift for my brothers birthday :)
That’s a tough one because the PSU is already so small. Try getting your hands on a low profile GT 1030 or 1050, that uses the motherboard and no external PSU cable.
It’s actually really easy and the performance for price on these things are more than great, I got on now with an i5 4590, 16gb ram, and a 1650 and I mainly play rainbow 6 siege but call of duty war zone can run at 60-80 frames consistently with normal settings applied. If you can find one of these systems used for cheap and just throw a decent gpu in it makes for a great starting pc
Yes! This PC performs super well with daily tasks because of the SSD. The only limitation using an older PC like this has is that for working on some programs like adobe photoshop, premiere, etc. can be CPU intensive, so using a ryzen processor you get way better results. But for gaming and daily usage it works super great! Buy one of these and wait for the 30 series launch and you can get yourself a super powerful GPU for cheap :D
It's good for the mean time while everything else is sold out, but Ryzen will eventually get cheaper to the point where these will either get super cheap or just not be as competitive.
I’ve ran 1050Ti, 1650, 1650 Super, 1060 (6GB and 3GB), and a 1660Ti all on the stock 290w PSU and measured the wattage at the wall, all of those cards are well within safe limits. Obviously some models of the cards listed above will vary in power draw depending on overclocking. You will also need a SATA to 6-pin adapter. After testing them all I settled on the 1650 Super, it’s hard to beat the price to performance and power draw, only downside is it only has 4GB of VRAM. I’m running them in three machines, and a 1060 6GB in another, all 9020 Optiplex with i7 4770, 16GB RAM.
Im broke do you have a diy 20 dollar gaming pc from things like walmart or amazon not "CRAZY THRIFT STORE FINDS'' Im a really broke gamer I don't have "THE SUPER LOW BUGDET OF 200$" or anything like that.
Broke is 200$. You just have to save and wait. That Dell computer in the video took a few weeks of constant searching to appear. Just save as much as possible until you have enough money to go on the used market around you and you try find something for cheap. You definitely wouldn't want a 20$ computer long term.
There are different models and sizes, some are SFF, small form factors, and some are the regular beefy ones. Usually the beefier ones are easier to work with, but ultimately they have the same parts.
The GPU is solemnly up to you. You could buy a 1050 low profile and still be able to game, I just put in a powerful GPU so that I wouldn't have to touch it again for a while!
I love sharing this concept because it's super well known, but this is a real case scenario where my brother is using this PC daily and it's a gaming beast for dirt cheap!

@@Sean-zb1nt still working for me to this day!
I have a optiplex with a i3 instead of an i5 what gpu should i put with it?
1030 or some other GOU that only takes power from the motherboard.
And always with this "had one laying around". Removing bottle necks.
I picked this pc up at goodwill for only 20 bucks. But it didn’t come with a hard drive
That’s a steal! 20$ for a SSD
There ya go
:P
I too am building a pc for my elder brother
Hi from the UK picked up a dell 790 i5 2400 for £70
Good find!
I have the pc but its not as chunky mines way slimmer and has 8gbs of ram, intel core i5 and it wasn't 60$ it was actually 200$
Different models, some are small form factors, but I try to stay away from those because they're too tight for some GPU's
Is this good for everyday gaming?
Can i put a rx570 and i7 3770 in 3020
Yes that all seems super doable, just make sure to get an adequate power supply to power everything!
Thx dude love your vidz keep it up and one more thing is 350 or 450 w enough
@@Mr_JackV1 I’d say minimum a 450 and 500 watt if possible in case you ever upgrade the GPU! More videos coming out this week!
It is useful to have an AMD RX 570 4G graphics card installed on it
your a nice brother
I try my best 🤔
@@KryptonicHD I have this pc but can't afford graphic cards and stuff
Did it have a hdmi?
HDMI for motherboard since intel CPU's have integrated graphics (thank goodness)
I5 4590 is still very competitive processor its does more than just games
It's good for the mean time while everything else is sold out, but Ryzen will eventually get cheaper to the point where these will either get super cheap or just not be as competitive.
@@KryptonicHD isnt all of that happening because of corona ?
@@officialnoob8410 yes. There is a huge production problem
@@KryptonicHD well as long as cheap is providing good performance we middle class love hitch hiking from amazon ebay i even use ali baba
Fps ?
Can i use gtx750ti or rx560??
I got 290watt psu
I’d say to stick with 350 and above for safety.
@@aaronzahorski9809 woah 🙌🙌🙌
How much is the gtx 1660?
I have the exact same pc and I want to convert it into a budget gaming pc
Right now GPUs are sort of expensive so they’ll probably go for 200-250$ USD. If you can put any decent GPU in there it’ll game just fine
KryptonicHD which one would u recommend for warzone
@@rambo7488 2060 or 1660ti since it's a triple A game that is demanding!
Link to but it please
What the type off the dell monitor sorry for bad english beacause i m from indonesia
It's an older dell model IPS 24inch.
I'm trying to get a pc for this price do u think u can help me
It'll really come down to the used market around you or finding one on ebay!
Its literally $100+ everywhere....
I bought this one off of the used marketplace around me, so prices can vary. Usually they go for around 100-150$
brother i use same computer and its 4gb ram but it works like 8gb ram
It’s a fast computer for the money!
Bro how do u get a PC that so cheap
Deal alerts! Always looking for the same things!
i miss the GTA intro
xD
What gta 5 intro ?
Does it run on csgo?
It runs everything, my brother mainly uses it for Overwatch and Fall Guys hahah! Will make an updated video soon!
I got my dell optiplex the same way
Great machines to pair with a budget GPU
@@KryptonicHD ikr
Can you play minecraft on it?
Very easily! I could even play warzone! It just depends on the GPU you pair with it.
@@KryptonicHD okay
what if i want to buy in india
Nice
Thanks I had a ton of fun working on it!
How many fps
What game
@@KryptonicHD csgo?
0:13 Are there different models? Mine has a DVD drive!
www.notebooksbilliger.de/dell+optiplex+3020+640751
There are different models and sizes, some are SFF, small form factors, and some are the regular beefy ones. Usually the beefier ones are easier to work with, but ultimately they have the same parts.
man i didnt even mod it lol i just used stock parts and i could play valorant and fortnite at 100 fps
These PC’s never disappoint!
Bro u put a gtx for 260 dollars in the desc :I
The GPU is solemnly up to you. You could buy a 1050 low profile and still be able to game, I just put in a powerful GPU so that I wouldn't have to touch it again for a while!
I have an asus 3gb 1060 that I paid 30 bucks for.
30$ for a 1060 is always a good deal!
I can only find 4570

Dude this Video is Booming
I love sharing this concept because it's super well known, but this is a real case scenario where my brother is using this PC daily and it's a gaming beast for dirt cheap!
