catrific i am always interested in whales and dolphins and so are you. However, i've never realised that i can do research on them for my life. I love them so much but actually I haven't done anything yet until they classified endanger species. When i watch your videos i think you're a successful youtuber but also you were quitting your dream secretly. You're so inspiring and you enlightened me!! I hope you will follow your original dream and challenge it. I leave this comment sincerely. Thanks Cat :))

Wow everything in this video was so well said. At one point it's like you were speaking directly to me! I'm studying biology at university but photography is something I am super passionate about. I've come to realize being at university and focusing all my energy on purely academic things was not good for my physical and mental health. Before my biology degree I tried engineering which also didn't work out because I have such a hard time finding balance. I recently decided to apply to photography school and got accepted and am now 'quitting' biology. As much as I struggle with the thought that "oh I'm just giving up when I should just continue with what I'm comfortable with", what you said at the end of the video about taking an opportunity to pursue a bigger dream really reassured me about my decision. So thank you! Your words will definitely help many people, including me 😊❤️

I heart something on The Minimalists podcasts recently that has totally changed my perspective. When asked about cultivating passions, they say that we can have as many as 10 passions cultivated across our lifetime. The thing is, you choose one at a time and work on it for 7-10 years and then you move on to the next one. You and I are in the privileged position of being so young that we can have so many passions in our lifetimes! The other important thing to remember is that you are not going to feel excited about your passion all the time. Writing, for example, is a huge passion for some people, but it is HARD AS FUCK even for the most prolific writers. You have to drudge through the drudgery, sometimes.

It's so interesting hearing you talk about a topic that is constantly relevant. I am about to complete my first semester of college, and this time in my life is so full of self-evaluation and goal-setting. I wanted to be a veterinarian for a majority of my life up until high school, where life was like "here's a bunch of roadblocks, now find a way through it." Somehow my passions went towards theatre, creating, being better and happy by myself and for myself. Right now, my goal is to become an educator. This path and goal is what is challenging and making me happy right now. If that has to change or I need to start making changes, so be it! Aspiring to be your best self is a constant effort and I love that. Thanks for the video :)

heyyy! I am only a sophomore in high school, but I've started thinking about what I want to do with my life and I'm leaning a lot towards veterinary or criminology. I used to have no clue what I was into, but after watching Grey's Anatomy, Dexter, Vet Ranch (on youtube), etc.. I think I'm definitely leaning towards a more humane, helping life/society, kind of job lol

i completely agree with you (as usual) since something i was stuck with a lot was where i was heading and what my passions were and how should i pursue my life after being told so many times by people that if im good at this than i should stick to it. you remind me so much of myself in so many aspects and i think we have a lot of things like this in common. something ive kind of always realised with you and your channel is that, even that youve grown and educated yourself and really spoken from your heart about certain matters that you think need to be voiced, you dont have a direction on where youre heading or a theme in common. i understand you want to try new things and you are a very big dreamer (like me) but i think you need to figure out what you want to do and dabble in it for a while. for me i was very stuck on where my life was heading, especially after moving into higher education and realising that what i thought i was good at, isnt going to stay that way and soon i started failing in those subjects. art and film is what ive started realising i love the most and although im not fully passionate on it all, its not going to stop me from trying to do my best to get as far as i can with it. also honestly, you start that modelling career girl because literally without you to look up to i would still have no body confidence at all!! ( i pretty much also have your exact body shape and i would always feel so insecure because ive never seen anyone else with similar body types to us so youve taught me to really love my body more and make me feel like i can look sexy aha)

thank you for this video, cat. i currently don't have a job (i'm only 15 haha), but i have this constant fear of unsatisfaction which holds me back from believing i can achieve all of the things i want in life. i have an ultimate dream of course, yet sometimes it seems completely out of reach. the problem is, i have so many things i want to do with my life, yet always seem to forget that i do have time & that in the future it is possible to do more than just a job. i kind of ended up rambling, but i just wanted to say thank you because it was really reassuring to hear you talking about being able to pursue all of your dreams no matter how small, & how anything is possible. i really needed to hear it. i hope you have a good night, love you!

Yes! What you said is exactly how I feel! I'm a sophomore in high school right now and I've started to think about what field of studying and career I want to join. (I have NO idea what college I want to go to! I have straight A's and I do Honors classes and get all A's but still I have no clue what field I'm interested in). I'm not really sure yet, but atm I've been thinking about either veterinary or some sort of criminology. I might lean towards criminology because they do get paid a lot more than veterinarians and I find the work really interesting, and I could always volunteer at shelters in my free time. But also, I would be very interested in becoming an animal surgeon/veterinarian. I've watched sooo many youtube videos (especially Vet Ranch, amazing channel!) and I find it soooo interesting and just amazing when they save animals from high-kill shelters. I would LOVE my job if I got to care for animals all day, and I feel like I'm prepared for the heartbreak if some don't survive. Wow. Both of these jobs revolve around people/animals dying. gr8 willow, gr8. But anyways, I'm torn between the two fields!

being kinda nosy here but i would suggest thinking more about what you are most likely to feel more passionate about because you have to remember that there will always be times when its hard and you have to pull through. dont just pick something that earns you more money(although that sometimes does work in some cases). maybe start finding work experience and see in person (f possible) and decide from there because i think just watching videos of subjects you have an interest in isnt showing the full experience and it tends to sugarcoat the situation whether you realise it or not.

Hey, thanks for this video. This gave me some encouragement to train harder and work harder to reach my goal I just started a new job to save up money to go to college this spring and I really need the extra push to really go for it and try all the sports and clubs I let fly by in high school thank you keep up the good work. Thank you again.

  • @AsiasAnimations
    @AsiasAnimations 7 лет назад

This video has definitely helped me really think about what things I think I should try to figure out what I wanna do. Almost a year ago I started making animation videos, they're not perfect at all but I still find it pretty fun to make. It's just a little hobby for now though, I don't plan on going into anything that has to do with it but it's up in the air.
I also recently kinda rediscovered my (very small) interest in maybe learning how to play piano because of watching someone play here on RUclips. I've always had an interest in the piano instrument for no particular reason other than it sounds pretty? Idk, but I'm gonna try to see if there's a way I can take piano lessons soon just to try and see if I actually like it. If not, I won't regret at least trying. :)

When you were holding your dog towards the end, where it appears like he's a baby... well when he wasn't moving, I assumed he had died because I thought dogs had to keep moving in order to breath.
It didn't occur to me that he wasn't a shark.

I had or have my passion in working with animals. Since I was a child, and as i got older it turned more and more in to "I want to be a horse trainer" not a regular one but that's beside the point. But this year reality has really crashed down on me and I realise I can't. I have to let go of my dream, I'm simply to sick. There is no chance I can physically do it. And at the moment I'm home sick barely able to do anything. It sucks, and I'm so sad that at this point my goal is just to find a work I'm able to do and I'm scared to death that I won't have the strength to keep up with my pets in my spare time. I try to not think to much about it and just pray that things gets better.

i actually feel kinda stuck rn too. for ages ive jumped around - i wanted to be a music psychologist, a neuroscientist, a music therapist, a general psychologist, a geneticist, a performing musician... for ages i said i would study a dual degree for music and science but now that its only a year away, i have to think fast. do i really have the commitment for a dual degree? even if i do, what comes next? what will be the point of studying science if i don't pursue it? if i do want to pursue science, it would be much better to study specifically what i want to do, rather than chemistry, physics, and biology all in one, but i would have to say goodbye to music. i would never go up any more levels in my oboe playing, i would never get my amusa. ugh :( i need to remind myself that i can pursue one thing after i've established the other.

What you are saying deeply rings a bell in my heart. (How convinient for the holiday season). Fear of the unknown, fear of vulnerability, fear of failure, fear of etc. ... Sometimes it takes just a playful "Fuck it" to unlock a situation. Most of the times it takes a lot of "Fuck it"s to unlock a life. So we gotta keep fighting our fears with the joy of being alive and the realisation that we won't be living forever anywaaayz! \o/ Thank you for this video, I'm pumped hehehe

You can totally be a model. I would definitely buy you magazines. Everybody should do what they love in live. No matter what! I am trying to do what I love. Its going to be hard at the start, but if you don't give up it will be worth it in the end. Never rule out any dream the you have at all. Be happy everyone. That is the most important thing in live!!

I feel like I'm in the same situation right now. I love my job working in schools with kids who have disabilities but there is also a lot of other things I want to do and there could be bigger ways to help people with disabilities such as working with charities and building a platform to build awareness which also fits with other more creative things I want to do such as vlogging/blogging, running a business, writing books. I just feel stuck because I'm working all the time with a 2nd job so that I can move to England and it just feels like there's no time! aggghhhh! Maybe i'm just being too impatient

I have a temporary job that can potentially lead to something permanent. The problem is I have no interest in it. I went for it because I'm relatively good at it and it helps my family financially. My real passion has almost always been art. I would need to start slowly and be patient but I hope I can make that dream a reality.

Awww, your dog is cute! But on a serious note, I agree. I've been wanting to do so much lately because I don't feel challenged. I've been trying to make more videos and I've been busy at school, there has been issues with a 'friend' of mine and I don't have any free time. I feel like I love doing it but it is putting me under so much stress. I got a really bad migraine for 3 days because of it where I could not move and the ambulance was called. I still love doing everything though but I get so tired.

Cute dog. I understand what are you saying. Some things do not stay with oneself. I agree some of it. Base oneself from others who have more of it is not good. It's best to keep it away from you and think about what make oneself happy. Also accepting events happen around oneself. Cat thank you for the video. I like to it. Have a nice day.

So much has been said in this video that I don't know where to start. RUclips got everybody fucked up. They have RUclipsrs thinking they can live off it meanwhile it's constantly changing. Anyone doing or thinking of doing RUclips to get paid needs to not quit school and major in something that can guarantee to keep them surviving should RUclips one day become nonexistent. It's a good platform to get your talent out there and set goals but it's not a proper career unless you have good management skills like most of the RUclips channels that became rich off of it. Cat- you can do anything that you set your mind to if you really wanted it. The Marine biology sounds like a great career as long as you stay away from the captivity part and focus on protecting the wild like a rescue or something. I would of loved being out in the ocean looking out for troubled orcas.

i have been telling myself I need to be a teacher since before I can remember, so now I'm in college getting my teaching degree. I just feel like sometimes I do not even know if that is what i want to do with my life... but I don't know what else I would do to make me happy........ does that make sense?

Wow okay..I'm almost 17 and ever since I was a toddler I've been interested in marine life but mainly dolphins and I always thought I would do something with marine mammals but I also have a great love for music and kind of want to pursue that also and I just don't know what I want to do with my life because I'm also an incredibly lazy and indecisive person and I don't know what I should focus on

It's hard when you're told by teachers and parents you need to pick a career to work towards when you haven't really tried that career out yet, so right now it all feels stationary like life hasn't started yet so I can't really change anything

In my life, first and foremost what I want to do is help people. I just want to help people cause I grew very fortunate and had pretty much any and everything I wanted and some people don't have that, some people are struggling and sick and can't afford medical care some people can't even afford food or clothes. And that's why I want to do some form of humanitarian work .
I want to be a doctor which is also helping people but I want to do more than just that.
I don't know, I'll see in the future when I finish high school
    ....and college..
I still have a long way to go.
