- Fully Custom 400ex, with a CBR600RR engine, converted to 4x4 with Polaris Scrambler chain drive. Skimming across water that is anywhere from 2-4 feet deep... if you doubt the water depth, look at the guy standing beside where I went in the first video... it's up to his waist! Sorry for the Mud on the Helmet camera lens... stuff like that happens when you are going across the top of muddy water at 40 mph!! Check out www.williamdavidsmith.com or www.gorilla-axle.com More videos to follow.... check back!
lol how is tha helmet cam that dirty before the the run?...lol.....not the first run I take it.

i dont know what to say ...you got the coolest quad on earth ..good job !
Haha, I was going to put that as the title but it wasn't enough room.. thank you for your keen observation that I was slowly rolling out of the throttle as I approached the bank on the other side. You are correct on the paddle pushing the vehicle along before it has time to sink..... that's the point Einstein... anybody can get enough speed with a Bayou 220 to hydroplane across some water... but I am able to sustain it...
check out my latest testing video if you doubt me...
check out my website at the end of the video to get some pics of the build and a description of where everything came from! Thanks!
Now iv seen some bad ass hybrids BUT NOTHING like that. AWESOME
that was awesome bro still drooling
You should build a quick and easy cover for the front wheel chain drive.
that is one sick! racing atv. it sounds like a 1600 cc jet ski with a cam in it.
All those chains and sprockets.... reminds me of a factory POS Polaris Scrambler
You are a legend. Keep it up
Looks like a blast!
Dream quad right there.
Well executed and looks like you did a great job. So jealous... lol
That is an awesome quad.
@codguy400 Oh yes, You have to roll in the throttle or it'll stand straight up, even with the 12" frame stretch.. It did in the testing video when it broke the chain!
That thing is a beast
I remember watching this when i was like 13 lol bout a year after it was posted
damn that thing is bad ass man great job!! :D
dude your moter is so fkn crispy sounding !!
Great video!
you take the 4X4 system out of a 97 scrambler? That crazy. I have one and the chain system sucks, its always comin loose. I couldn't imagine it under the power of that engine.
you should put some foot nets or cadges to keep your foot from falling of the peg
Wow that sounds healthy
Haha, who needs a boat with that thing??
:DD
build a chainguard something bad could happen . just some safety for your leg if something like a chain or sprocket gives. sick quad tho 4x4 setup is sick
No, Citroen has developed a engine that doesnt use cams. Instead it have electronic lifters that is much more precise.
you was a bobble head for a sec lol
What a machine!!!!
@pope350 Skat Trak tires with Hooker paddles!
Theres one thing thats faster than this beast and thats me getting off watching it go!!! ;-P
@69mxkid haha, yea man, I ran some snorkels up under the dash to keep the water out!!
That is awsome but I wouldn't think a street bike would like mud haha
łał daje czadu i ten dzwiek masakra wery nice
Throw some normall tires on it and that would make one fun ass trail machine! And a 4x4 disconnect.
Wow! That's sick
@BuscoBiker1 18 stag rippers and will tear up any busa around.... bottom line some bikes like more tire some like less, 600s like less paddle cause they like to spin and spinning can be a good thing especially on those bikes.
that quad is a beast yea?????
now thats a sport 4X4
I suggest a chain guard for that 4x4 chain before you lose a leg good sir lol
that is sick!
Well yeah. Ill give it to him, That thing is mean!
Great vid! I was wondering if putting boards underneath to act almost like skis would help????
you can skip more than water in that beast bro!
Dude, yes it is you can see the chain in the walkaround...
Did you shorten the stroke on the engine because it sounds like a monster
you need to have sum tipe of muffler or ananother way to keep some back pressure or youl burn a valve with strait pipes on a small engine
1:36 best part!
i bet travis Pastrana could show you up on a dirt bike.
@SuperDeadapple1 hahaha... 20,000 and maybe we can work something out LOL
This atv is Jesus!
ok its sweet but where are the breaks? i didnt see any during the walk around.
now swap it to a turbo hayabusa motor, and a longer run at the water! :) haha
video starts at 1:38
Because he can.
wish mine looked like that
It's not a 4x4? Thats interesting all that work I did running chains to the front... for nothing.. :/
i may be stupid for asking this but why dose your quad keep jumping rpm up and down in the idle?
Is that hard? I mean do you just need a strong engine, and gun it, or does it take skill?
@TeamGorilla18 ahhh i did not read the title and yes 4x4 4wd
Polaris chain drive front end!
I remember seeing this years ago ! Wonder if she still alive lol
Hey that's my name !!☺!!
@dmt52996 In the works...!
I'm guessing the intricate gearing that was showed in the beginning of the video didn't mean much to you.
a bit over kill with the pattels there buddy
That shits crazy! But nice!!
sounds like a diesel when idols
those wheels!
Imagine getting your foot caught up in that chain running wide open. . . =|
Does anyone know what the front diff is from?
Polaris Scrambler!
@@TeamGorilla18 cheers 😁
market um. You'd make millions
@hunterkidd94ltz440 Skat Trak Diggers, they custom make them and are the same paddles i run in sand on my drag bike
15k and its a deal?!??
@bisket2003 Highly re- engineered!!
Nice!!
jesus favourite toy
How deep was that? There was another guy on RUclips that claims he crossed a lake on a raptor 660 and come to find out it was only 2 feet deep. This quad looks like it could cross an ocean the way it was built. The other guy was bullshit fake
it says 2-4 feet deep in the description...
How can it be called a 400ex when it has a CBR600RR engine in it and converted to 4x4 with Polaris Scrambler chain drive?
It probably goes on sand good as well
yes
What is sand good?
I want to see that thing on the dunes
hows it feel to have the quad jesus once owned? LOOOL
i thought this was an awesome build!
LOL not yet man, but I build a guard for it!
Please do us all a favor and take this bad boy into some snow?
Brandon Steinbuch
Or the dunes
nice bike! maybe not for the trails but that thing would rock the sand dunes! sounds awesome too!
What that shit would be dialed for the trails dude 900% traction
@MegaEhughes I custom made the arms from some old 300 honda 4x4 lower a arms, the uppers are stock Can am 800 outlander a arms, I'd highly recommend trying to adapt some that will work, they'll most likely be stronger and lighter than the ones you can build!
yes.. BUT much less available!! (I already had the EX just sitting there taking up space...)
One of my buddies tried that.. had one tuned to about 150 hp.. but the power was way too erratic. the powerband was about 500 rpm wide... He never could get it to work right and gave up. He had over 5k in it, and thats when I got the idea of the streetbike engine! only $500 bucks!!!!!!
What's a stoke crf450? is that a water skimming edition? I've seen people do it on dirtbikes, but not without a 1/2 mile running start, and they can only go short distances... Please post a video of you skimming with the amount of running start that I start with!!! I love fail videos!!
all motors have came? I assume you meant camshafts? There are plenty of engines that don't have cams! Now.. most 4 strokes have cams, this one just happens to have one with a little more lift and duration :)
@TheJacob2332 I have some ordered now, just came out, 27" tall with about a half inch paddle, I hope they work as good as I think they will!
@416honda Yea man, chain guard in the works... with 4x4 CBR600EX Laser cut in the side!!
water is about 2-4 feet deep, and I did opt for some front tires with less paddle, check out my other latest videos for some footage!
@DJ4BAMA1 Man I lost track a long time ago and I'd probably be sick if i figured it up, but it was worth every penny!
@bowhuntr311 Actual construction I would say 300-400 man hours, planning and parts gathering..... 3 years
@ANONYMOUS1747 haha.... thanks! looks like everyone else agrees also, I'll keep that in mind on my next project! :)
@Ls7colorado I've got a small set of some stock tires that i play around with, it's ridiculously fun!!!
@ANONYMOUS1747 I would just delete this comment but it's funnier watching everyone else bash him!! LOL
Um, I didn't build it for a trail... I'd like to see you ride your trail bike over the water!!!
@conyymann What do you mean by so deep? it will go across any depth water!
@kc88kc LOL, did you even READ the title??? or know what 4x4 means?????
