@@raegatan2110 Historically almost everything was a one-shot and very difficult to dodge so they were very usefull, blocking and attacking simultaneously, but they were never popular and they still had limitations.
Edit: A mistake has been pointed out, it's one-shots without armor or with infections.

@@pegasusrr3156 Armour can be an exception though even then once one was hit it would still often be fatal, unless it's a sword or similar which struggles against armor. however yes, you are right, I made a mistake.
The rabbit flailing at 2:05 got me wheezing. Okay I was not expecting that sequence to be reused a couple of times with modulated audio on the third instance. I'm not even mad it gets funnier every time I see it.

I be thrusting into the DLC final boss to kill him. Worked like a charm, but was tiring with unoptimised stamina management lol
I also thrusted Rellana to death, was amazing experience 10/10

About to do the same. Been fighting him for five hours and keep almost killing him but I am summoning for the gear so it is harder with thr health scaling
@PaulSmith-nb6md you don't need to summon ansbach or thiollier to get their gear at the end

same lmao. i took it in as a joke just to test it out and i ended up killing it first try. Normally id be upset from trivializing a boss like that but it was just too funny

The shield has a psuedo-riposte you block and then get a hit.....makes sense

It was the whole game, but base game is so easy you can use literally whatever build to beat it

@@Shoderra The joke is that people say it both ways to excuse when someone focuses too much on one or the other, but the original adage is indeed “Best offense is a good defense”, which I believe was originally a football originated philosophy.
The Carian Thrusting Shield also does insane status buildup. I run blood lost on mine but i imagine frostbite or poison could also be quite useful. It legit only takes 1 or 2 of the blocking light attack to proc

Miyazaki heard people wanted an easy mode so he added thrusting shields.
I love it when video games let you combine attack and defense in the same action because I think it's pretty cool the only problem is it's hard to do that without making the player completely overpowered.
They are balanced if blocking while attacking drained more stamina, because then you can brake their guard if they’re not careful

Adds a whole new meaning to "Shield Poking"
Enjoy it before its nerfed in the next patch so that getting hit while shield poking actually costs an appropriate amount of stamina
Please note that the standard shield poke with another weapon functions normally as with standard shields. The infinite stamina for blocking only applies when two-handing the Thrusting Shield weapon class.
There's little point in using them as just a shield though since they lack 100 gaurd

With how many enemies and pvp weapons multiattack, the lack of 100% defense and high stability make it great for Law of Causality.

The idea of their normal attacks having guardpoints was really cool cause it rewards good timing. But then they also gave it a shieldpoke which is better than everything else in the kit. It really feels sometimes like FROM just lucks their ways into making good games with some of their decisions.

At the very least, the guard points should drain the same amount of stamina as blocking. Would keep this thing viable, while not being completely broken like it is right now.

But it's really actually a very accurate historical weapon. The design of the standard dueling shield is ripped straight from some medieval instruction books.

Guys there Is another glitch Its with a smithscript Blade or cursebladen cirque (if you have in another hand elipse shotel with deathblight already the ash of war of these two weapon can inflict also deathblight even you dodge it)

You need to check out the "claws of night". Insane weapons. you throw daggers with your heavy attack that in contrast to the thorwing daggers weapon type actually have decent range. bleed build up along with quite the powerfull weapon art and high dex scaling make these really good. In PvP spamming jumping heavy attacks, running heavy attacks or just regular heavy attacks is a nightmare to play against. While i didn't meat a thrusting shield player yet, backhand abusers stood no chance in PVP

Well. I just beaten the game with it. Granted I did not use the R1 spam but tried it with the Sekiro flask. Still very VERY strong (also fun).
That's what I've been doing. The guard counter on it is rather good, and it's fun being able to stand my ground instead of rolling all the time. I hope the inevitable nerf doesn't ruin the weapon completely.

My fear is that From Software will do the same thing they did with Dark Souls 2 and 3 and apply a series of patches nerfing everything (faith build is a joke in DS2, for example), just for the game to be just another fighting game than an adventure/rpg game.
Relax. A few weapons may get axed but they have been doing pvp exclusive patches for awhile now
Dark magic spammers deserve the nerf in DS2!
But faith builds were overpowered in Ds2 initial lifecycle, now they’re alright.
Pvp exclusive patching makes this not a problem if you are in it for adventure and pve coop

I've found that the Blind Spot and Raging Beast AoW is amazing at getting past thrusting shields to the point of almost making them useless.
This reminds me of Charge Blade in Monster Hunter series with the guard-points.

One thing I love about these shields is that if you delay your attacks they have block frames at the end even if you don’t block before hand
They probably just swapped a minus sign somewhere. Would make sense.
Could infuse an ash of war with bleed or frostbite and apply a grease to apply more ailments like rot, bleed (if using frostbite), or frostbite (if using bleed. Making trading hits against you very risky (and against if the opponent is using the same thing).
I find is silly (but fun) to dual weild both thrusting shields with frost on the carian and bleed on the dualing ad you’ll pretty much have van option to either bleed someone or frostbite bite them depending on what procs first.
Man, i was enjoying this shield and didn't even realize it had a spammable move, i use the shield poke very rarely, though, so maybe that's why.

I find that when dealing eith any sort of shield, a nice bout of high arcane Unendurable Frenzy will do just fine.
Does the greatshield talisman (the one that boosts guarding), affect the moveset of the thrusting shield? Or does that only apply to actively guarding with it?
Can it be parried? Or do the parry frames ignore the guarding frames of the thrusting shield’s attack?

There's also the lightning perfume bottle with rolling sparks ash of war which can oneshot bosses (aiming at the ground resulting in the concentration of each spark).
Frost grease and a couple hefy rot pots and the carian dueling shield is a nice cheese on final boss.

Since it wasn't shown, I don't know if you can parry them or not, but if you can I feel like there's at least a bit more options than only trying to perfectly manage spacing with spears to counter them.

Dont forget. You can also apply shield buffs to the thrusting shields.
The lack of stamina damage on the guard poke explains why I've felt so dirty using this thing against other players. Even the guard frames on the normal attacks take way too little stamina damage.

I used a +25 bleed dueling shield to nut shot Consort to death. It was hilarious because it blocks all damage while spamming attack. Even ground rupture.
