  • Hey, y'all. I'm Jan. For those of you who could not hear my June 5, 2023 Bread Pudding video, this is the remake of that video.
    Recipe:
You'll need a 9x13 bake pan or dish, greased.
Stale bread- equal to a loaf of bread or 5 cups. You can use buns, French bread, brioche bread or sandwich bread. Your choice. *If you do not have stale bread, you can set your oven to 200F, put your bread in for 10-15 minutes until it's dried out.
    3 eggs, beaten
1/3 cup packed brown sugar (73g) or granulated sugar
    1.5 cups (355mL) milk
1- 14oz. (300mL) can of Sweetened Condensed Milk
1/2 stick (57g) melted butter, room temp
    1 tbs (15mL) Vanilla
    1 tsp Cinnamon
    Pinch of salt
Whisk your eggs, sugar, milk(s), butter, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt together. In your 9x13 bake dish, put your bread in. *And raisins, or any dried fruit or chopped nut of your liking. You can use up to a cup of fruit, or 1/2 cup nuts.
Pour your batter over your bread.
Take a spoon and press the bread down into the batter to ensure every piece of bread gets to absorb some of it. Let it sit on your counter 15-30 minutes.
    Bake 30-35 minutes at 350F (180C)
    *Optional glaze
    1 cup powdered sugar
    2 tbs milk
Mix with a spoon until glaze is no longer lumpy. Drizzle over your hot bread pudding.
I'm really sorry about my first video. I'm learning as I go. I thank you all for being here, and bearing with me.
    -Jan :)

Sir, Your recipe was delicious and well explained. The critics seem to need something to moan about ….any decent baker can follow this recipe and adjust where they want to…raisins, no raisins etc. Thank you so much for taking the time to provide us with such a great dessert.

To me, I like this video better only because you added the cups and teaspoons and tablespoons in on this video. Had no trouble with the other video on hearing, I just turned up the volume. Another great video and cannot wait to make this. Next week!! Thank you again for sharing your recipe.

I changed the recipe some where I used more bread. I pack the 9X13 pan full to the top (level) with the bread and needed more to soak into the bread. I use 2 cups whole milk, 4 eggs, 1 can sweetened condensed milk, 3 heaping table spoons of brown sugar, 2 tablespoons of vanilla, 1/2 stick of butter. I cook a can of sweetened condensed milk in boiling water for the same duration of 40 to 45 minutes that it takes to bake the bread pudding. After I let the bread pudding cool down, I pour the Carmelized sweetened condensed milk over the bread pudding as the topping. I don't use the cinnamon or the raisins in the bread pudding I fix. I am allergic to cinnamon. Your video is a excellent recipe and your content is a great source. 👍

Oh, I bet that caramelized sweetened condensed milk over the top is delicious! And, thank you, John. I really appreciate it, and you being here.

@SouthernGardening50 You're welcome. I fought in Desert Storm on the front line. I was a M60E3 machine gunner back then. Cooking is a passion of mine and it helps with my PTSD.

@@johnd4408 Cooking absolutely helps with PTS and anxiety! Severe depression stopped me from wanting to cook/bake for over a decade (because I was never hungry).
But, once I started gardening, that passion led me back to my love for the kitchen. I love cooking more this last decade, than ever before. Though I try not to act too giddy about it on video. lol

New to site. How do you save the recipe? I've never seen a recipe using sweetened condensed milk. I might switch out to dates for the raisins, i can't do tsisins

I went to the link for the quantities if each ingredient but there are none. So how can I find out how much of each ingredient to use!
EDITED: I found them. Thank you!!!

In the description underneath the video, I have all of the quantities typed out in all of my videos. Click the *more* button underneath the video.
It's in bold letters underneath all videos. Sometimes it's on the left side under the date the video was uploaded, and sometimes it's on the right side.
I wish they would put it in a set place on all videos, to make the descriptions easier to find.
Please let me know if you can't find it.

Yeah, I watched the video. Like your recipe but you talked about the bread four times. Just say whatever bread you use make sure its dry, period. Good work ma'am.
