  • I take you along with me to see the quilts of the 2019 Mid Atlantic Quilt Show! What a wonderful experience I had - 5 days of classes, lectures, an appraisal, and the exhibits! This was filmed on my last tired happy day right before driving home for 5+ hours. Enjoy!
    If you'd like to join our Yahoo group where we keep up the fun with free quilt patterns, sharing our quilt progress and photos, and supporting each other's work, drop me an email to: ourtimetoquilt@twc.com and I'll send you an invitation! Hugs, Deb Johnson

    Thank you, so much. I do love a good quilt show, especially when it’s free and someone else is walking for me. It means a lot.

    Thank you so much for sharing your time showing all those amazing quilts. I get a laugh when the ladies step in front of you while doing your video. The reason is quilts make you forget all around you that you just focus in the quilts. Than they remembered that there are others around. Just so fun. When I go to a quilt show and taking pictures I have ladies in most of my photos. (I'm ready to take a picture and boop a lady jumps in ) lol I never get angry at this because It's about the love of the quilts. Again thank you for sharing .

      You are so right......I don't think we remember others are around because we are drawn to these quilts like moths to a fire!! You are very welcome and I'll film them when I am not so tired next year!! Hugs, Deb

    Thank you very much for recording these quilts and explaining a little about them. I learned a lot - double wedding ring, courthouse steps, flying geese, etc. The color sense these artist demonstrate is incredible! I know i enjoyed watching because the 33 minutes felt like 5! So I'll watch twice! Hah! Thanks again.

      I realized looking at those quilts that I'll never be able to make a show quilt! It's a little depressing but there is so much I still want to do with quilting that I'll be happily busy the rest of my life. They are very inspiring though!! Hugs, Deb

    So many beautiful quilts. What skilled artists!
    In the future, can you please slow down your video process. Trying to stop the video, to look at the workmanship was almost impossible because the picture turned out blurred because you were going so fast. I realize there are only so many hours in the day... just a suggestion. Watch the video and try to freeze it for a closer look. You'll see what i mean... Thanks so much

      That is great advice and thank you for suggesting it so kindly! I was worn out after days at the show plus I had a long drive home but I will try very hard to slow down the next time! Thanks again, Deb

      I would second this motion...or lack of it. The camera didn't have time to focus, and so it all came out blurred or dizzying. Many cameras don't function well indoors, even with the proper settings, because of the light. I desperately wanted to see this, as I'm now too disabled to enjoy walking, and I am always grateful to those who record their own visits and share with us. Let's hope we are soon back up and running. With all this time at home, there should be some spectacular quilts ready for a new show.

    I have a question. Where is the line between quilting and embroidery? Many of these pieces seem to me like they belong in other genres than quilting.

    • @ourtimetoquilt8495
      @ourtimetoquilt8495  4 года назад +1

      What a great question! There are many different categories in quilting now, such as 'Inovative'. As an art quilter myself, I am thrilled with the inclusion of all forms of fiber art. To be a quilt, you just need three layers sewn together and whatever you do on the surface is your choice. As in all forms of art, to each his/her own! It's a great beautiful world of creativity!

      @@ourtimetoquilt8495 thanks for the quick reply and clarification. I'm sure my question exposed me as a non quilter. I'm glad to know that someone making a traditional style quilt (top, bottom and batting) won't be judged against a multimedia event sewn to a top, bottom and batting! I guess I should have figured there would be categories to keep a more level playing field like at a car show.
      Thanks again and for posting that video. I had no idea this show was a thing! I'll look to see if there is one up here in the Northeast.
      All the best!

    It would take you too long to mention the names of the artist? No wonder quilting is not taken seriously! Sad

    • @ourtimetoquilt8495
      @ourtimetoquilt8495  3 года назад

      Actually, Quilting is thriving and shows are held everywhere now even though with the Pandemic they are virtual. You can go to the official site and see if there is a booklet or video of the quilts listed. Quilting is a multi billion dollar industry and it just keeps growing! It's never to late to join in on the fun !

      @@ourtimetoquilt8495 I know that! I just think not taking the time to mention the person who made the quilt is sad. like the 16oos we are still expected to make art anonymously.
