@@rileygally2967 They do it all the time. Especially if they’ve been on traffic duty five or more years. I don’t remember what they ended up charging the kid, but speeding would be difficult to prove since he was entering a parking lot. They could go with careless driving.

In Sweden it’s a 2.5 year university level education (6 months as an intern).
In Finland basic police training requires three years of study and is considered a Bachelor's degree.
Norway has a three-year basic education and a possible expansion with a Master's degree.
Romania offers three levels of training for officers, (Bachelor's Degree (3 years), Master's Degree, (2 years) and Dr (3+1 years)).
In Serbia the training lasts for 1 year and is followed by a 6-month probation period at a Regional Police Department.
In Slovenia candidates spend eighteen months in basic training in order to become a police officer, followed by a six-month evaluation period.
In Spain basic training ranges from 5 months for an entry-level policía Nacional or Guardia civil to 9 months for a mosso, but realistically takes 18 months to two years including practicums and additional training.
In the England and Wales all candidates serve two years as probationary constables, which will be spent training in both academic and practical situations.

BUT these Cops had NO Jurisdiction in this Apartment Complex !! Here's why !!. The Apartments are PRIVATE PROPERTY ! Same as a Shopping Center !. It's Outside of the Public Domain !. All they should have done was warned him ! That's why they didn't write a ticket for "No registration" !! . The most they can do is "Trespass" this kid IF he didn't live there. I'm in Florida, And owned a Security Company for years. Called the cops MANY times for kids Speeding in Apartment Complexes, And nothing was ever done !. And this kid can drive this car all over the Complex, As long as he doesn't leave the complex ! A tag isn't required on "Private Property" !! All these tickets will be Dismissed !

@Bad Cattitude For local departments some states only require a high school degree or equivalent. Other states require 60 college credits or an associates’ degree. A four-year degree is required by most state police agencies I believe, and although local departments cannot lower the state's minimum for local police they can have higher requirements so cities are more likely to require higher education then smaller jurisdictions.

It is easy to get into the Academy. If you got the money or sponsorship and fitness....anyone has the opportunity. Wether you pass or not, is another story.
Um with all the over weight cops around i think you only have to be fit to get in. State police will put you through more checks and training. Not so for city or rural cops.
My brother is a Sargent in West Palm Beach FL,he started out as a security guard at meijers n went to college took law classes..he even swam for the police academy..but not before winning several medals for swimming on the swim team in Riverview, Mich..he made state championship for breast stroke.. hardest one to achieve..he made championship in the state of Michigan.
But in michigan i believe the only "law enforcement" that requires college is, funny enough, prison workers. Even state police only require a ged.

Although I don't know the current requirements, back when I was younger (a thousand years ago), police officers were required to have a college education before entering the academy.
A few years back I was driving home in California on the toll roads after a trip to Arizona. It was the final 45 min. stretch before I was home and I had never seen any cops on the toll roads before, so in my infinite wisdom I figured speeding wouldn’t hurt. I was going up a hill and as I reached the top I saw a cop on the right side of the road and immediately applied my brakes to slow down. It was already too late. Once I drove by I saw him pull off the shoulder into my lane. He followed me for a mile before he pulled me over. Once he approached the car he asked if I knew how fast I was going and I replied “pretty fast.” He told me the radar clocked me at 98 in a 65 and that it was felony speeding and I could lose my license. I sincerely apologized and admitted I was in the wrong. He put 85 on the ticket and let me go. I went to traffic school and paid the fine and haven’t sped on the tolls since. Sometimes it pays to admit you’re wrong and eat some humble pie.
