What hit and run, a**hole?

- If your idea of law enforcement work comes from television shows and Hollywood, chances are that you don't appreciate the mundanity, monotony, paper-pushing, and endless-waiting-around-for-something-or-someone that describes most of your average police officer's workday. In this video we take a brief step back from the celebrity arrests, pursuits, tasings, and Metro State videos to cover a more relatable - and far more common - law enforcement investigation: a hit and run.
This footage of police mundanity comes your way out of Lewiston, Idaho, as a Lewiston police officer attempts to investigate an alleged hit and run, only to find himself up against an uncooperative family.

Hit and Run accidents that did not result in any serious injuries or fatalities can be charged as Class 5 felonies. Drivers license can be revoked for three years, ranging in penalties from probation to one year in jail.
Vandalism that results in serious damage to valuable property is a felony. Defendants charged with a felony can face more than a year in state prison and significant fines. Most states categorize damage to property worth less than $500 as a misdemeanor, while anything worth $500 or more is a felony.
So go ahead and hit someone's car in a parking lot and flee the scene. Go ahead and rip someone's mirror off in a parking lot and flee the scene. You just better hope there are no cameras to catch your crime because you will end up with fines and possibly jail time.

Did my guy really just say the cop has no jurisdiction because it's a parking lot?? 😂😂

In some jurisdictions Police are not required to take a report on accidents on private property. A hit and run is probably a totally different story and overrides that...
Depends on the state. In my state, a parking lot is considered private property. Often, the cops won’t even do accident reports on private property. But I think if one person leaves, it becomes a criminal matter, and then they can get involved.

@@blurrylights6344 He was feeling safe and free until the cop told him he could use other cameras, that's when the guy took off quick inside to fix his story with his family. The cop shouldn't have stood back because he couldn't hear them over the noise.
Peace
I would have thought if the kid was innocent, as the dad is implying, that the dad would love to have video cameras checked. 🤷♂️
Ya be funny if place across the street caught it all tho double charges
Uncooperative because they didn't want to lose their designated driver. Look at all those Mic-Ultras on the table. 😅😅😅🤣🤣🤣
Cathy Edwards no doubt!
theres a baby too and a very young boy who cant drive...they were all drunk and they were probably pretending they weren't
In his defense you can drink 700 Mic ultras and still be sober that shit is more like water than water is lmao. But you're right they def had too much and handled the situation like clowns in front of children.
@@swedishpenispump If they had too much wouldn't there be 2,100 bottles on the table? 😂
Watching the guy think about how he was going to change his story after hearing that there were no video cameras in the parking lot was quite entertaining.
I liked how Lanyard tried to appear bored by it all by scrolling through the game icons on his phone in front of the policeman.
"Ladies and Gentlemen we present to you The Dirtbag Family!"
What did the kids do?
@@gensaikawakami341 It's normal for kids to mimick the behavior their parents model for them.
Their not dirtbags. The dad just has no skills in how to handle this. Maybe he's had to much to drink I dont know, but they are obviously a decent family despite the dad's asshole behavior.
@@rileylong8000 What's so "obviously decent" about them?
@@1nhonho Well "Daki_000" in order to see it, unfortunately, you have to have it in you so the words to explain it would be lost on you.
Nothing shows your innocence like saying the cop's out of his jurisdiction, juse because it's a parking lot. lmao
And the "you can wait outside" is also really funny... he's almost like a male karen, at that point. hahaha
I thought that too. It was like the guy tried to keep his stories straight, could not do it, got scared, and played the jurisdiction card to cover up his actions.
He's not wrong though. Which is why the cop responded with "I'm just investigating". Ultimately, it would be up to the property owner as to whether or not the police could get the video (if there were any). However, the cop also mentioned there are camera's other places (probably on the street). Regardless the guy was clearly changing his story and that makes his kid look guilty. Great example of how not to act toward cops.
The kid hit the mirror and would wither under a little bit of pressure.... daddy teaching d bag 101
He is defo a darren, he will eventually come unstuck
@gl0ck10mm Yep he has the aura of a bully.
The officer shouldn't have asked about cameras in front of the father. As soon as the employee said there were no parking lot cameras the father thought "Why am I being honest when I can try to weasel my way out of this?"
The number of beer bottles on that table explains a lot about the attitude this officer was given. SMH.
That pause when the manager said there were no cameras 😂😂
“Ma’am, your husband is a ‘grown man’ wearing a hoodie, faded jeans, and Nike air max shoes. Your family was an embarrassment long before I showed up.”
Ouch
The guy seems douchy but what is the issue with his clothes? Seems pretty standard
@@onesixfive my thoughts exactly
It's cause he's fat. Fat people aren't stylish
What’s wrong with Nike Air Max?
"Unless you have a warrant for my spicy enchilada, you can wait outside."
How hard do you think Gordon Ramsay would have went on the interior decoration of this place?
Karen: "I feel embarrassed because my son probably did this". Also Karen: "Why are you embarrassing us"
Already can tell she's one of those toxic types of moms who only care about "being embarrassed in front of strangers in public" rather than the actually dignity of the family, seeing as how she threw the son under the bus.
"Lawyer told me to tell you to STFU, MOM!"
Lol. The guy's attitude changed real quick once the cop told him it would be his jurisdiction since it was a hit and run.
Right? And who in their right mind has the balls to tell an officer his jurisdiction when he was literally in it.
Questioning an officer’s jurisdiction is one of those things that if you’re not 100% right then you look like a complete tool.
He actually has no jurisdiction there. Idaho statute on hit and run on private property is only with injury.
lynn crews well done then.
@@LCREWSS yup he has no jurisdiction on private property that's like he can't give you a ticket for speeding on private property
Being a decent person goes a long way. Love how everyone has an attorney. Amazing how people think it’s fine to just start out treating officers like crap without provocation
If that were me I would interrupt everything he said with SIR I NEED YOU TO COMPLY loud as hell in that crowded restaurant. If you want to make a scene then let's go lmao
Nothing screams "I'm gulty" like arguing with a cop and telling him how to do his job
The cop was actually being so nice. And they guy says he's being an asshole? I thi k it was the other way around. Also if they REALLY didn't hit the mirror why were they trying to say he doesn't have a right to see the cameras. Why is he trying to not let him see the cameras? If he didn't hit the car then that's better in his favor of he sees the camera footage. Sounds like he was trying to hide something.

This was more of a yelp review on the decor of this restaurant than a police video.
Those chairs! To die for!! (say it in a high screechy voice)
Wasn't that restaurant "On The Border"?
Yeah this channel is going downhill fast
The decor!!! lol! I agree! That's the real crime here

They also didn't want him to notice all the empty beer bottles on their table. Lol

The worst crime in this video was the hostess sticking her finger into her mouth, then touching all of the clean silverware and napkins. GROSS!
