Moved to Port Charlotte in 97 spent my whole childhood there. Live in Fort Myers area now. Spent so much time out in the woods I still love port charlotte. But it has changed alot. Has gotten alot bigger.
I don't know about what Port Charlotte are you talking , but in the summer the temperature is very often over 90 degrees and it's not only hot, it's f ... hot. And the real estate market became insane expensive compared with years ago, like the rest of the US.
Missed Pro: Real Estate is dirt cheap. Vacant land is incredibly inexpensive (takes money though to develop so it will add up eventually, but still on cheaper end) and finished homes are usually on the cheaper end when compared to other places in Florida. Missed Cons: A lot of the properties are in flood zones. So not only will it flood with a heavy rain, but insurance costs will be higher. Also when discussing wildlife he forgot to mention Bobcats, Wild Boars, Water Moccasins and rattlesnakes. Seen all 4 in my travels and stays in Port Charolette.
My grandparents have lived in port charlotte for a little over 15 years now and it’s built up so much, but I always thought the area was endearing. And lol you are right about all the critters; I’m from northern Illinois, so seeing wild bobcats, snakes, lizards, turtles and all the aquatic life was amazing as it’s so diverse! I really do appreciate that about the golf coast area :,)
3 local hospitals and it will take great luck to find a surgeon in some specialties.....like gastroenterology or color rectal, heart, ( with the exception of 1 heart surgeon ). Put it this way, my cardiologists assistant called me prior to open heart surgery in punta gorda and IMPLORED me to NOT do it! Go top sarasota she said, go anywhere but don't do that here! Can you imagine? So factor that into your budget
I live in Englewood right on the border of Port Charlotte and there is no nightlife here or anywhere near. You would have to drive at least an hour to either Sarasota or Ft Myers.
What are you looking for? You have the beach bars across from Englewood beach who offer live bands and dancing, at least 3 or 4 more over the bridge in Punta Gorda, restaurants and music on Dearborn, Englewood Events Center has shows and events, Class A baseball at Charlotte Sports Park.
Oh there's night life but it's mosly dirty old men trying to pick up drunk road queens in seedy bars around last call, poor poor road queens who will come to their rescue.
a pro is the mall we have, but its so dead, but a lot of stores though, mainly clothing, BUT their is a food store with different things. Their is also a gameing area of the mall with arcade but i dont rlly go their, their is also a gamestop.
Thanks for the vid !!! Just decided that this area is where this Wisconsin postal worker is relocating to. Pretty nervous since this is such a big move !!! This vid helped me !! Anyone with more input would be appreciated!!!! Thanks ❤️👍🙏🌞 ps it it 2 degrees today here in GB ☹️
No need to worry, PC has so many out of staters you’ll feel right at home lol. On my street alone, most are from NY, PA and NJ! Plus it is super easy to get around.
Thanks for the good info! It would be more appealing to the audience if there was not so much repetition. Not trying to offend at all, just give constructive criticism. Not gonna lie, I almost turned it off several times.
Lies about the heat!!! Temps might be in the eighties but feels like 114! Don't go to Port Charlotte Beach unless you want a disease. Housing prices are expensive compared to how much you make. You must have a double income. Mall is closing down and stores suck. Traffic is getting worse and the more people we have moving here doesn't help. There is no public transportation unless you are a senior. No night life. Nothing for the young people. The animals are bigger here than anywhere!!!! Mosquitos are disgusting bad and mosquito control is non existent. I've only heard of one bad hurricane here and that was Charley.
We will be relocating to South Gulf Cove in about 10 months for so, I have two boys age 21 / 19 that are hesitant to moving due to it is mostly a retirement community, Is there much to do for a young adult in port charlotte, as well as work for a young adult.
Typical boys, there worried about meeting new people, getting part time work as well as schooling, there are both in college so transferring everything and starting a new life can be challenging. One is going to school to be an electrician and one is going to school for fire science. Looking for any advice as to relocating and and social activities for young adults that you know of, I seen on line a social group called Team Douggie, that has corn hole and volley ball tournaments, making a move and not knowing a soul can be challenging.
@@markcaissie6852 I've lived here 2 1/2 years. Building in here is going crazy. My advice is know the canals if you buy on the water. the canals closer to the main water ways will get you out to the lagoon and out to the charlotte harbor faster. if we would have moved on the other side of the circle we would have saved 15 minutes off our commute by water to charlotte harbor.
My parents immigrated here a while ago I am 15 and they both got good jobs my mom works at a hotel and my dad is a construction worker and this place is a little lame not much to do but it’s also good in my opinion
_Yes my father owns 2 dealership, the only problem is for white americans, doesn't offer much of the medicines they love 💊💉❄️, but they can find some in Miami tho._
Just got back from Port Charlotte a few weeks ago. We went out for seafood twice. Both times were told that they get their crab and lobster from the upper east coast and that the prices were too high right now for local business to acquires this food. So the suggestion that they are getting their seafood locally, is not accurate.
Gotta say I was so distracted from you talking with your hands too much. It is a sign of being uncomfortable in front of the camera and it makes the audience uncomfortable too. It is like you are conducting an Orchestra up there. But thanks for the tips haha

Tracy, CA to Port Charlotte 12/2020. Congrats!
The Port Charlotte Cons we put in the Charlotte county lockup.
I was born and raised in Port Charlotte Florida for 32 years
I still prefer Hallandale Beach Florida more it’s a beautiful city with a growing communities and businesses and a good nightlife.🇺🇸

Snow birds make all other animals look really friendly
It was dirt cheap but it’s picking up
the prices are going up for real estate
No longer dirt cheap. :(

I would love to know if Port Charlotte is African American Friendly. I'd hate to visit and have a horrible experience.
Makes me sad that this is even a question
Well, the town is GOP conservative and 91% white.. Charlotte county overwhelmingly voted Trump. I think youll find Fort Myers better to your liking.
North Port and Port Charlotte are beautiful!

Hi Yes we have chosen Port Charlotte and Punta Gorda.?
It’s always a nice feeling when you figure out where you want to focus your home search in.
I’m more concerned about high property insurance premiums rather than hurricanes.
No. Summer is high 90's
Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
How are the schools?
They suck. Florida is for older retired people who don’t care about crappy schools.
Where's the seafood market? We went to PC a couple of times, didn't see any?
Traffic is a con? It's nothing here compared to a big city like Orlando or Tampa
I agree that the traffic in Orlando and Tampa is heavier.
We also don’t have a lot of major highways like bigger cities. The traffic on 41 is bad during season.
@@michellekulas282 I agree.

Are there movie theaters, bowling alleys, or any arcades and nice resturants?
No movie theater. 2 bowling alleys. No arcade. And a couple good restaurants

Moving from Miami to Port Charlotte I beleive the traffic there would be just a piece of cake.
Miami has heavier traffic.
Stay in Miami..

Why do you say that Arianna?
Agreed. Lived here for 15 years now. THE most boring town ever lol
