Traffic is really only bad on Tamiami Trail (41) and I-75 although 17 can be bad at times. The regular city streets aren't that bad and if you live here you can learn the ways around those three locally. Traveling out of town, well then you have to deal with them. Humidity is really only bad here from late May to the end of October and generally only after the PM thunderstorms. It is worse on the east coast unless you are right on the ocean so that is an improvement to me. The heat though can be harsh during those months, takes time to acclimate. Took me a couple of years.

As far as sports, there's Hertz Arena in Estero, ~hour minutes away, who hosts the Florida Everblades hockey team, then there's the new ball park in North Port, ~30 minutes, spring training for Atlanta Braves, and finally Charlotte Sports Park, ~20-30 minutes, spring training for the Tampa Bay Rays and then the Charlotte Stone Crabs grapefruit league league the rest of the season. If you're really into spring training, it's only ~45 min to Ft Myers, Red Sox and Twins. For me, PG is all about cold drinks, good food, and gorgeous sunsets.
