    Hi ! do we need the speed booster to plug the sigma lens into the M50??

    Cool video! Unfortunately this lens gets some pretty bad vignetting when used with the speed booster.

      If you using apsc or efs lenses yes like 10-24 or 18-400 tamron vnetting but adjust focal length or ff camera change mode...crop mode. Rp or r automatically crops apsc efs lenses . M50 Speedbooster for ef lenses to gain focal length equivalent to ff and gain fstop. Newer lenses like 16-35 f4 ii you might run into problems...some lenses wont work...usually newer model ef lenses. Should be fine with 16-35f4 is.

      @@cjonwickham1933 Dude, he is using the ASP-C type lens (Sigma art 18-35mm) + Viltrox Speed Booster, and he gets the vignetting. So u suggest to go into menus and change to the crop mode?

    • @fondfarewell2
      @fondfarewell2 2 года назад +1

      @@axmadka honestly looks like it might just be the lens hood, the way it is shaking. With the speed booster it is actually at a true 16mm rather than the standard ×1.6 crop which the hood is designed to handle.

    The sigma 18-35mm 1.8 is an ef-s mount, you shouldn't be mounting it on a speed booster, it won't physically fit, no wonder there is a play and the vignetting...I wouldn't recommend to anyone to try it you can damage your gears. If you want to use the lens with the m50 though just get the regular adapter (not the speed booster). I recommend the viltrox m1 version for about 40$

      Before you spread misinformation, please at least do some research. This lens is indeed designed for APS-C camera, but the lens mount is still EF mount, not EF-S mount, so it will fit perfectly with the speedbooster without any issue.

    • @rodriguetoglo
      @rodriguetoglo 7 месяцев назад

      @Duckstalker1340 It definitely didn't "fit perfectly without any issue" in the video. Plus it's made for APS-C , you'll just get vignetting in the corners up until 30mm I believe so what'sthe point. I still definitely do not recommend it.... whit the money just get a few prime lenses or ditch the speed booster. I did do some research ( I got pissed when you said I didn't) but you're right man (or woman or whatever 😅) it's EF mount not EF-S my sources where probably wrong, so thanks you for that.

    • @Duckstalker1340
      @Duckstalker1340 7 месяцев назад

      @@rodriguetoglo Again, you have not yet FULLY researched before speaking your pieces. In video mode, especially in 4k, there're extra crop factor, so there was not any vignetting even with 0.71x speedboosted. There are so many actual professionals who use this combo for actual professional works, and here you are declaring it wasn't working, smh.

    • @ethosveritas
      @ethosveritas 4 месяца назад

      @@Duckstalker1340 forget about the mount for a minute. What is relevant is the image circle being projected by the lens. EFM speedbooster will squeeze a full-frame image circle into the APSC sensor size. The sigma 18-35 projects an APSC image circle, so it makes no sense to do this combination of M50+speedbooster+18-35. HOWEVER if this lense and suitable speedbooster was being used on a micro 4/3's sensor which is smaller than the M50 APS-C then it makes sense to squeeze the APSC image circle into m4/3. In the m4/3's world lots of people use that combination including professionally. Speedbooster on M50 should only be used with full frame lenses unless you like throwing away money 😂

    • @Duckstalker1340
      @Duckstalker1340 4 месяца назад

      @@ethosveritas Your point actually proved my point even further, you said it would fit the m43 sensor when its crop factor is 2x, and the M50 crop factor when recording 4k video is 2.5x which is even smaller than the m43 sensor, so there'd be no vignetting when using this combo.

      Thats why I bought both fodtiox efm adapter ef/efs and ef viltriox speedbooster...adapter for efs apsc lenses and speedbooster turn ef lenses to close equivalent ff lenses and gain fstop low light. Speedbooster ef ff only lenses or vnet on efs apsc lenses. Not many M mount no rf lenses for m50. Example ef mount canon tamron 10-24 fits adapter and works but speedbooster vnett unless zoom in at least 14mm.
