I like video's like this that are straight forward in the beginning! NOT a bunch of talking! Especially when its the most basic! I'll be sitting there trying to learn the song and some guy would keep stopping, and talking! I'll be like, JUST PLAY THE F'n SONG ALREADY! Anyway, Good Video!
Thank so much!😊 I appreciate you commenting a ton. Yes - I totally agree in regards on how to teach the songs - very glad you liked it! Have a great week rocking out!🎸🎶
At 6:36 and 6:50, I think you should be striking the A string as well as D and G strings, with your index finger making a bar across both E and D strings throughout. So that when your pinky hits the high F (10th fret of G), you're also playing the F an octave below (8th fret of A) - and ditto for 7th fret of G & 5th fret of A later on in the riff, creating two simultaneous D notes an octave apart. At least that's what I think I can hear in Metallica's version.
Hey, Ian!😊 Thanks for supplying additional notes to get this song even more correct! Yes, one would probably play that note too, in a more “punk-style” fashion. My interpretation might be too defined in lack of a better word. This was as close I got from watching James and Kirk playing the song in the tuning room video. Have a great weekend!🎸🎶
@@VemundOsland I haven't watched them perform it, I was just going off what I think I can hear on the studio version, where it sounds like when they switch finger positions, you hear a pattern of notes descending and then reascending in pitch. (G-F-F-G, G-F-F-G... and then later on E-D-D-E, E-D-D-E)
@@VemundOsland Although having just watched the tuning room video, I can see that Kirk moves his index finger down from 8th fret of E to 8th fret of A when he makes the transitions, as well as moving his other fingers on the 10th fret.
@@irushforth yes, I recall they play the riff differently from another. My intention is to get James’ style of playing, but sometimes it goes awry. Have a great time rocking!🎸🎶
@@VemundOsland Check out my latest video, where I deconstruct the verse riff to Frayed Ends of Sanity and find a surprisingly familiar tune... ruclips.net/video/ZgOZNshsh9c/видео.html
I fancied playing some faster heavier music and decided this song would be good to learn proper down stroking. Turns out that judgement was right. Simple song but damn, that tempo really destroys the wrist lol. At .95, will get there one day. Great video. :D
Thank you so much for that, Steven!😊🙏 Yeah, this song is beast, at least when it comes to palm mute stamina. I had to work on it a lot, too. The recorded version ebbs and flows a bit giving you time to recover some. But as the old advice goes; starting slow and going up in increments does the trick! The video speed function may be helpful, too. Have a great weekend!🎸🎶
Thank you for your comment, Arda!😊 I had to watch a lot clips of the song played live before I finally got it down, as the tabs around weren’t that accurate. I hope you can figure it out by watching or slowing the tutorial down. Have a great weekend!😊🎸🎶
Hey LaloReyez, thank you so much for that! :) This was a profile from the ADA MP bundle from www.bighairyprofiles.com. I have no connection with them, but this was the ADA MP XBBE2 profile. A profile with a type of exciter combined with the ADA MP and allegedly used as part of the Black album-tone. Have a great week, man!
Excellent cover but you listed it off the wrong album it is on that album but it’s originally from Kill ‘Em All and was a bonus track on Ride the lightning
Hey, Broski85!😊 Hehe, yeah, I wanted to make sure you have the opportunity to go through the song piece by piece too. I hope it helps! Have a great time rocking!🎸🎶
Hey, Beth! I’m happy to inform you (or sad!?😅) that the whole verse is downpicked...Thank the rock gods for a little relief in the pre chorus!? I based the playing on Hetfield’s performance in the “Blitzkrieg in the tuning room”, where you can see how James plays the song up close. Here’s the link if you wanted to check it out: ruclips.net/video/fdW8j6udwHA/видео.html Have a great weekend!😊🎸🎶
Hey, zipto1439! There is - sorry to say and disclaimer - always a chance the tabs or my playing, or both(!), contain errors. I am by no means fool proof. This particular riff might seem to miss a shorter note value. I played it as I heard it in the song. You play it like this: 4/5-5-4-4…cont 2/3-3-2-2…cont I hope this helps! Have a great day rocking! 🎸🎶
This type of lesson is the best for learning in my opinion. Great video!

That was neat Mate, but what guitar effect do you use? It sounds so close to the record!
Hey, Stan! Thank you so much! 😊 It was done on the Kemper, an ADA MP1 profile called XBBE from Big Hairy Profiles. It sounds really close!

forgot the solo
Focusing mainly on James’ rhythms for now. I may add later! 😊🎸🎶
