Linkin Park has returned with their new song, "The Emptiness Machine," marking the beginning of their latest album preparations, titled *From Zero*, set for release on November 15, 2024.
The band has undergone significant changes, with Emily Armstrong stepping in as the new vocalist following Chester Bennington's passing, and Colin Brittain taking over the drummer's role from Rob Bourdon. Bourdon's departure was largely attributed to his struggle to move past Bennington's death.
Mike Shinoda, the band's vocalist and rapper, shared insights into Bourdon's reluctance to return. He confirmed that the primary reason for Bourdon's decision was indeed Bennington's death. Shinoda also highlighted Bourdon’s noticeable absence from key events, including the re-release of Hybrid Theory and the launch of "Papercuts."
Shinoda reflected on Bourdon’s earlier desire to distance himself from the band, expressing understanding while respecting his friend's choice. Despite the sadness of the situation, Shinoda emphasized his wish for Bourdon’s happiness and well-being.
Regarding Brittain’s involvement, Shinoda noted that Brittain was the first choice for the drumming position due to his extensive musical skills, including drumming, guitar, bass, keyboards, and production. Shinoda and Brittain share a similar musical vision, which has fostered a productive collaboration as they continue to develop new material.
