The TRX is a whole different beast and will never get the real world 20 mpg I get or even close to the 24mpg it could get if I kept my foot out of it. For a real world, daily use truck that’s around 20k cheaper than the TRX the F150 powerboost is a fantastic truck with a 0-60 of just over 6 seconds.
Nice try but totally unfair to the GMC due to the altitude. At sea level it looks like the GMC will beat the Toyota. All in all though, a couple of seconds in a pick up truck isn't much when you figure in the cost of the faster ones. Also, its fair to consider what gear ratios are in the axles and tire diameters, both which have an effect on performance.
Nice test, all trucks are cool! Of course racing and have more power is so cool, but at the end everyone end up on a gas station and with today gas price it does hurt you wallet a lot. May be you guys should do another race - with all 4 trucks hauling a trailer, with "maximum tow load" what each truck rated (like for tundra its 12000lb), without 1/4 mile race - just normal daily driving and see who does better on mpg and fastest destination time, that would be really interesting to see!!! (Those reviews on up hill and braking application on the way back - they are cool, but most of us driving in cities or crawling in morning traffic, or aria without steep hills) Also it would be a great review for people who looking to get a truck for work and see what truck can do and how much it would cost at the end! Any way thank you for hard working and you guys doing a great job!
GM needs to make a performance version of their engines. Whether hybrid, turbos or superchargers. I think a single dual volute turbo 5.3 v8 would be an amazing performance engine. If they can make a 2.7t 4 with 430 lb-ft of torque. They can make a 5.3t v8 making at least 500 hp and 500 lb-ft or that would be my preference. But a hybrid would be the more likely combo. A 5.3 v8 with the Ultium battery pack making 500 hp and 500 lb-ft of tq would suffice.
@@ES44AC-2 That would be a nice middle grown between the Raptor and the TRX. But now Ford came out with a Raptor R. GM is the only manufacturer that seems to be missing the point of spicing things up with the brand. At least for combustion engines. Sure they have the Hummer EV and Silverado EV. But both of those for similar on-road performance is going to cost thousands more than a TRX or Raptor R. If you are looking to do high speed off-roading both of them are going to be too heavy. The TRX when jumping and landing is already pushing the limits of what the suspension is capable of. Imagine an 8000 to 9000 lbs monster would do to the suspension when landing.

Experts say 10-20% of your monthly income should be vehicle. Insurance, fuel and payment/repairs.
Which is why nobody can afford to pay rent
Joe a lot of people have different financial situations, some have generational wealth and have homes willed to them along with money so many have no mortgage payments so they can save more and have more expensive cars ,
@@luke9020
That sounds right. No way you should be spending half your income on vehicles. That's crazy!
In the property management business a tenant is required to make 3 times (1/3) their rent per month. So how can one justify a vehicle payment higher then your home, rent or mortgage?

The truck guys in my world like v8’s we can put exhausts on and tow trailers without needing repairs for 100k miles. The Chevy LS and LT and Ford 5.0 gave us those things. I’m not saying that change is bad, but closer to sea level we’re getting the same mpg out of our v8’s as that ecoboost. Al these people getting rich off of their “efficient” or “environmentally friendly” ideas are just robbing Peter to pay Paul and then bragging about how much better off Paul is with their policies. EV’s still wreck the environment, just in a way that isn’t commonly known to everyone yet because we’re being taught to ignore it by profit seekers. Bottom line is: let us drive what we want to drive. The political shell game that polarizes this country is shameful.
"Let us drive what we want" What most people want is fuel guzzling obnoxiously loud engines that serve no purpose other than being loud. And I'd love to hear your mental gymnastics about how EVs wreck the environment that cannot be said about a normal car. What unique way do EVs wreck environments that a normal car is better? Genuinely curious.
The point is to reduce carbon emissions. Eliminating it will take thousands of years even. You can drive what you want, you just gotta face the consequences of those actions.
@@Xyler94 No there is no point to reducing emissions, increasing fuel efficiencies other than political. EV production only happens because of cheap fossil fuels to mine, ship, refine, manufacture, ship again, assemble and ship again. The US should never loose our energy independence. Even if we meet our goals for net zero nothing stops China, India, or Russia from not while being in control of our supply chain for these unreliable energy sources. So enjoy while you can.
@@johnhyde7407 my expectations for you were very low... But wow,
@Xyler you're just exchanging the carbon emissions for ground pollution. I haven't heard any news about children mining cobalt and lithium to make ICE automobiles. Oil, natural gas, and coal are all used in the manufacturing and consumer use of EV'S.
Millions of batteries are going to be unusable in the coming years. Where is the waste going to go?
As of right now, an ICE vehicle is 100% recyclable. Aside from carbon fiber.
More and more drawbacks are emerging about EV'S
Kind of a funny story I read. There was a guy that tried to end it all by running his car in his 2 car garage overnight. Garage doors and windows closed car windows down. He fell asleep then woke up 10 hrs later pissed off that it didn't work. 2012 Ford with v6..
@@WheresHerb In Xylers world all when all vehicles are EV they will also let big brother control their vehicles. They think the Gov will let them keep ludicrous speeds. Want to take a trip somewhere? Not without permission. If you haven’t been a good boy and your ESG score is low the government will not authorize your excessive energy use. Don’t think that is coming? I give you the insanity of the Covid response.

Loving the new 1/4 mile track testing!
I want to see the race to the first one with engine problems. Then line them up again at 200,000 miles. At least two probably won't show.
It’s funny how the GMC is the lightest but it’s the one that looks the heaviest lol
I was thinking the same thing. It just looks puffy and fat lol.
Once the wheel wells rust out it will even be lighter. It gets better and better.

Crazy. Back in high school (1990), me and my buddies rebuilt engines and one of my friend had a 1966 olds delta 88 with a 455. He put $3000 into the engine and we were doing 13 second 107 mph 1/4 miles in that giant boat. Lots of techy flash today but nothing on the market impresses me when put to the test. All hype and pipe.
It’s crazy to me how we live in a time when a man says an a 80k truck is relatively affordable.
6.2 was destined to fail, especially at elevation, but what a great engine. I am surprised the Toyota lagged back.
They likely could've got a 5.7 Ram pretty easily for a better rounded video. Doesn't a least one of their crew own one?
Yes he has a rebel but the 5.7 isn't supercharged or turbocharged and already lacks power numbers out of all three

I would still go the gmc. After all, even in america (like here in New Zealand (nz)), ya still have speed limits. The gmc is naturally aspirated. No turbo or super chargers to go wrong. And the gmc has low end torque works better when being loaded, not reving hard to get weight going. It might be the heaviest. When ya have over 5000kg/9500lbs of weight behind it pushing it down hill or stopping, the trailer won't be as much of problem as what it would be on the lighter vehicles (hope ya know what i mean there)

That TRX is just a beast. I'd rather that GMC for a daily driver though .
This was awesome! I would love to see some more 93 5 star tuned 3.5 f150’s against other trucks on here.
Nice. There’s no replacement for displacement. Boosted V8 all day over the Eco twin turbo V6s lol.
I have a F150 PowerBoost and it’s pretty amazing. 2nd fastest production truck and it’s a ton of fun to drive.
It's a real-life test for those of us that live at elevation. I live at 7,000' not everyone lives at sea level.
As much as I hate seeing the TRX race yet again, that was admittedly really fun!
Shame they didn’t bring a 5.7 Ram, would have been interesting in this field.
it likely would have finished behind the F150. The 5.7 is no match for the powerboost. I say this as a Ram owner
Very professional and well done...!
(Those reviews on up hill and braking application on the way back - they are cool, but most of us driving in cities or crawling in morning traffic, or aria without steep hills)
Also it would be a great review for people who looking to get a truck for work and see what truck can do and how much it would cost at the end!
Any way thank you for hard working and you guys doing a great job!

Should do it without using the launch mode on the Ram! Plus you should have told your audience how the Ram probably used 1/4 tank of gas in that run.
An LT4 in the ZR2 would have been nice. Or an option in the Trail boss.

That would be a nice middle grown between the Raptor and the TRX.
