Excellent explanation of valve body and components.

Why this is so complicated (I think about the construction not about disassembling) What a labyrinth.
You have to be a genius to design such complicated devices.

@windhammer357 - The 700R4 is a non electrically shifted 4 speed GM trans.
The 4L60E is basically the same transmission, but with Electronic shifting.
The 4L60E is a move descriptive model number than the previous GM names such as; TH350, TH400 and 700R4
For the '4L60E' the "4" stands for four speeds, the "L" is for a longitudinally mounted position (as opposed to the laterally mounted 4 cyl engines), the "60" is for the 60,000 gross vehicle weight limit and the "E" is electronic shifting.

Great video ! Question - how 4T-45E valve body is different from 4L-60E in terms of applying this video to 4T45 or these two more different and your video cannot be used on 4T-45 ?

@hondaman0000 All I can advise is...installing the 1-2 acumulator valve SLEEVE(in the valve body) upside down(easy to do) will cause HARSH 1-2 shift. looking up from the bottom of the v body, you should see the VALVE. If you just see the sleeve, it's upside down.

With the spacer or without the spacer confused me into thinking it popped out and could not find it back. Turns out after hours of looking there was no spacer in my tranny. M ust be a difference between the 4l65 and the 4l60 . Maybe it is the year that makes this difference.

@chris532008, yes I am. I installed a programmer and changed the shift firmness and point and it has not done it in over 3 months. Would you consider that electrical issue or mechanical? Either way, not much else I'm going to do to it

Yes, I have a 04 f150 5.4 with 4r75w trans 4x4. when my trans gets to operating temp say 20 to 30 min drive time when it shifts from 1st to 2nd there is a clunking/shudder noise I hear/ slightly feel. Every other gear shifts perfectly and 1st to 2nd shift perfect “cold. no codes, fluid and filter changed, shift solenoid replaced, reflashed the pcm, had the valve body removed and all the valves springs checked(just dropping the pan)… any idea of what my problem could be?? thanks

Im looking to replace this valve body on a Ford ZX2. It has a bad shift solenoid. Has anyone ever had to do this? I have been told by someone online that you can actually remove it without even pulling the transmission out. Simply by removing the transmission filter and there it is. Could this be true?

Awesome video! If the 1-2 hard shift continues after replacing the two solenoids, I'm at the point the Valve Body needs a rebuild or is there another easy replacement? Thanks for the comments!

you actually dont even have to remove the force motor, the wire is plugged to the back of it, just unclip it. but yea you can remove the harness without removing the valve body.

Don't use Paint Thinner for any cleaning of auto parts.
    It leaves a residue behind.
Lacquer Thinner is much better for the job, but beware, it strips paint off of anything. You should protect your skin from it as well with plenty of latex or better yet, nitrile gloves.

Be careful what you use to clean internal transmission components. Certain chemicals will ruin the rubber fabric seals on pistons and hydraulic sealed components.
