I've said it before, on many of the Lesson Videos fro Transmission Bench, but here it is again ! This guy is a GREAT INSTRUCTOR !! SECOND TO NONE, in my opinion! Yes some areas of transmission are more difficult that for this Instructor shows, but he's done this a long time! Use his series on 4L60E, you won't be sorry. Grind a Flat spot on your Snap Ring Pliers, on there outside, it help snap ring from popping off pliers !
You are truly a great instructor much better than the ones i had in transmission class.just completely disassembled my first 4l60e with only watching your video one time, outstanding
I just rebuilt my 2007 Chevrolet 4L60E following Jimmy's tutorials and it works again! Fantastic video series and presentation. Never thought I'd attempt this procedure but he made it easy as well as ordering the parts I needed. Highly recommended, thanks Jimmy!
You Sir amaze me! Your demeanor and your caring explanations are that philosophical genius! I looked at your videos over and over but I still do not have the courage to do what you have. I WISH YOU WERE MY NEIGHBOR!!! I'd have BBQ's daily just for you--so long as you help me fix my stuff!!
You are the man!!!! I so want to rebuild a transmission now. for now though I'm just in the middle of replacing a master solenoid kit. came here to check the location of the check balls that fell out. Now i am super confident i have everything right. Thanks to you!!!!
He’s right. I read 3 books, watched every video on RUclips and even read transmission forums. You have watch the people on them forums. A lot of them are just repeating bs someone else told them. I also bought a bad transmission and took it apart several times. I even went to pull apart and took a bad transmission apart there. I studied more than 2 years before I rebuilt my unit. The tranny did work on the first try.
Very thorough (but a little on the slow side). One thing about using a magnet to remove the check balls though. The steel balls become magnetized and will attract metal particles in the oil decreasing their efficiency in closing off the oil passage. Worked on Honda cars for over 15 years during the 80's and 90's. I overhauled well over 200 transmissions and found a few trans (that were worked on by others) with magnetized balls and metal crud stuck to them. Also, Honda auto trans instructors stressed the importance of not using a magnet in removing check balls. I kept a supply of 316 stainless balls to replace the steel ones and never had a problem.
Is there any more check balls besides the 7 and the one on the bottom the plate? I have an 4l60-E and there is one more check ball at another location and some kind of O-ring retainer is holding it in place in the Valve Body, looks like does not come out. that would be the number 9 check ball. Is this normal on my transmission? This is the tag on the case of my tansmission 3SDD. it is for a 2003 Chevrolet trail blazer LT. please help
Sir i must tell you. I really love your videos and cant wait until new ones. You are the one who encourage me to rebuild my 4L60e of a 2004 Trailblazer. But im worried. Why you lost so much weight since the last list of episodes?
Question...1997 Silverado Z71 5.7L 4L60E... ONLY when trans is warmed up (driving for 20-30 minutes at around 55mph) trans has real hard shift from 1st to 2nd and a somewhat hard shift from 2nd to 3rd, can turn engine off wait 30secs and start engine and trans shifts normally again. 3-4 is good and shifting through PRND321 is good. This only happened after towing a trailer down the highway while in D (forgot to shift into 3 while towing) was told torque converter was toasted.
I rebuilt mine with help of your vids! I get a p0742 if I drive without warming up. When hot, runs fine... Wondering if it might be partially clogged cooling coils in radiator because previous owner had the trans replaced but I am suspecting not radiator ... So was going to add external cooler to see if that solves. Does this make sense to anyone?
lol ,,wish I would have found this series before I shot that valve retaining clip across the room last night. Never occured to me that it might be under pressure..oopsie
You're a great teacher! I feel like I can fix my truck now. Everytime I feel like quitting, I come back here & feel motivated again!💪🏻💜
The Mr. Rogers of transmission repair. I feel like I could fix anything listening to him
don't forget he can SEE YOU!
I was thinking the Bob Ross of tranmission.
Without this video, I don't think I could have tackled the 4l60e rebuild on my z28. Thanks to you, I'm shredding tires again! Excellent video!

very good detailed especially about where smaller or longer bolt goes ... what a waste you cannot ship parts to Iran
My trans is already broke and my extra is already apart on the bench I can't stop now

Hello plz why 4l60e no pressure line change results all time 65 psi just on reverse 95psi
Great videos thanks
Can you do this with the transmission still installed or do you need to pull it
Dont let my friends know about this learning.
thank god its not complicated. yeah right
Can this be removed without pulling the transmission out of the Vehicle?
No way I would put all those bolts in one box! 50 zip locks for me
That’s what I’m saying!😂 I laughed my ass off when I saw him toss them in there. He surely knows what he’s doing, and could probably do it blindfolded
