I'm interested in seeing the review from you, I think this would probably make Yaahn pretty happy as a LPX user. 😅 I wonder what the motivation was behind subscription, I want to think because Apple sales actually decreased (there's news about M2 Macs not selling as expected, iPhones not selling as expected) they made this subscription, but Apple has more money than I practically count, so what is their game plan here?
I’ve been talking with Yaahn all morning about this…he’s ecstatic…I’m Zaire his take will be coming pretty soon as well…and yea I don’t think it’s a money thing…I think they are just following suite with all the others in the industry…just about every daw and plug-in is gonna be subscription before it’s over…
I can only speculate but it is difficult to get people to pay what they would pay for something that they can buy for their desktop computer. From what I have seen, plugins that you can buy on the Mac and iOS are cheaper on iOS. I don't the iOS community would pay $200 for an app. It isn't what they are used to. They could sell it for less but that may canablize desktop sales. So like many other iOS applications before it, a subscription model is used. A lot of plugin in manufactures have resisted making iOS version of their products. I think they are waiting to see how all of this pans out before they make a decision on whether to make the financial investment.
You will still be able to use your logic x on all MACOS products. like you currently do but logic for iPad is different software with the same name. Also, if I buy logic for the iPad, I am not going to be able to use it on my MacBook, so I don't know why people are making such a big fuss about it.
I can see it...maybe even higher./..like $199 a year on desktop...like basically buying the daw again every year...Pro-tools and Studio One have been doing that for years
Their explanation will be just like all of the other 3rd party developers which is they're doing it to offer dedicated customer support. We all know that's a big lie. Apple support is gradually becoming garbage.
Man I’ve been an iPad user for 13 years. I have every right to be excited. I’ve been on Logic since 2009. I don’t care about the sub. I care about the platform this is the future always has been. I can sale a cheap beat at $200 and pay for 4 years of Logic lol. Come on 50/yr that’s only 2 months of pro tools. I’ve invested plenty of time and money into this platform and this is a win for us iOS producers.
Apple gave us all love for over a decade with LPX it’s been pay 200.00 once and free the rest of the time. That’s more than fair. The sub is cheaper than almost any other sub…50 a year? Cheap. That’s what like a bit over 4 bucks a month? A soda at a gas station costs that much. I really can’t complain at all. I’ve been a Logic user since Emagic owned it.
@@nsp932 Where do they get the funds to develop new feature? Paying once for license and using it for 10 years in 10 machines is not a sustainable model. Sure is Apple, but a business is a business. Back in the day innovation was from year to year. Now it's minute to minute. New protocols and technology is here every single day. Have you tried Mubert? is a text to music software, would love to see that in logic. Subscriptions also give feed back about who is using their software and what features get the most subs. Of course it should be a hybrid model where it's just for specific features like Logic iPad.
@@nyambe for Apple, them not charging a subscription is still sustainable since Logic isn’t available on their competitors’ products. That means loyal Logic users will ultimately buy new replacement Apple desktops, laptops, and/or iPads, over the years, just to have continuous access to Logic. They’re still making money as a result of their DAW’s exclusivity. Your argument would fit if Apple was strictly a software company whose sales of Logic was something they heavily relied on.
Awwe man this means i don't have to buy a mac.I'm a pc guy but i do have a iPad bout to upgrade that joker.I was tinkering around with garage band but it don't feel complete.I think it's on now I've been waiting for this.
I think hopefully will open the way for other developers to take ios more seriously and we get ports of all the DAWs. Personally i might end up trying it but i do not do subscriptions
It’s great that Logic Pro comes available on iPad, but just like you, I’m already a Logic Pro user on Mac. What about us? I don’t mind a subscription, I have several, though it seems like Apple doesn’t let Mac Logic Pro owners get the iPad version for free. I don’t see it as a huge problem. $4.99/month is cheap ($49 annually even cheaper), and I’m definitely going to subscribe to use Logic Pro (also) on my iPad Pro. And I think I understand why Apple offers a subscription plan for Logic. They could have asked an one time fee for the iPad version. Something like $200 to $250. That will scare off a lot of potential users. Personally I don’t mind an expensive app, whether it’s for Mac or iPad, and I prefer buying software with a single purchase (just like I did for Logic on Mac in the past). I think Apple wants more people coming over to the iPad ecosystem (and current iPad GarageBand users), and many aren’t willing to pay a high price for an application. It will be another subscription for me, though I wish it would be an one time purchase. Nevertheless, almost any company has subscription models only, and the majority of them are a lot more expensive than Apple (Adobe anyone?). Great video
I use Cubasis 3. Logic Pro looks a LOT better. I always used windows PCs and my iPad M-1 Pro is so much faster, I’m ok paying a dollar a week to have something this good on it.
I'm excited about this as it will make other devs take the iPad seriously and make apps for it and plugins. Ipad is more than capable of running music apps and I've always been mad that people only use it as a "toy". This is a chess move from Apple, and I'm sure other music app companies will also take the iPad ecosystem a little more seriously by bringing in more pro apps.
I’ll tell you another thing to consider about this. There’s obviously a lot of conversations going on these days around the topic of music production and AI’s potential to make portions of it obsolete. However, those types of conversations are happening right now around the same time that the absolute best/most capable daw is being released for iPad music production. I understand they’re out to make money with this product. That’s all it is at the end of the day, but it also offers some optimism in regards to the fact that at the end of the day, there is a potential within a human music producer/songwriter that can undoubtedly compete in a market that will become more saturated with AI. You don’t get an opportunity like this (Logic Pro for iOS) if the opportunities for music producers and songwriters are dying hard and fast. You get an opportunity like this when/if there is still demand for these types of people. It’s only going to draw more people in as well. Part of the criticisms against iPad music production rest in the fact that up until now, there has not been an iOS daw that is close to as good as this. Those of us who produce music on our iPads know and understand the appeal of doing so. It’s kind of indescribable, but it exists, and now there will be a whole new generation of people who will have the opportunity to see if it appeals to them. Not only that, they will have a better opportunity at discovering the appeal of iPad music production on a very capable and professional daw. It’s great. I’m excited for it.
Thanks for the vid John, but I'm just not impressed by Apple any more, despite being one of their brand champions in the past. Their marginal cost of £200/$200 for any minor hardware improvement is difficult enough to swallow, but if they're moving into the software-as-a-service market then they are really gonna alienate people. And it's not as if they're short of money...
But it’s subscription based. Nope! I’ll never buy into that, can’t afford all of these subscriptions. Apple don’t need the revenue. It’s a pi**take imo
DO NOT support subscriptions. Think about what you are encouraging by thinking "its not that much", IT IS that much if you start thinking how much is already subscriptions and how many more they will become if you just keep accepting it all
Cubasis is great and all but not better than logic by a mile. Also cubasis 4 will release soon and you’ll have to buy cubasis again. This is going to crush cubasis
I will not be abandoning Cubasis on my iPad for this. I am only going to deal with LPX on Mac where it performs best. I feel like having too many options is destroying my productivity. Could it work as a live performance tool?? If so, only use it for that.
Y'all need to chill. I seriously doubt Logic is ever gonna be a subscription model for the desktop/laptop version. The whole marketing plan there is sell you a $200 dollar piece of software so good you buy another $1500 computer every so often to keep using it.
Subscription-only is unethical and sends a shitty signal into the market. Besides that it would have been a lot more effective not to divert the development team from tending to more important things on the desktop app. Why the hell would I want a full DAW on an iPad anyway?
not excited at all.. recording for me involves extra and often external hard-drives, interfaces, and often I need this stuff to run IN THE FIELD where I DEFINTIELY do NOT want internet running particularly wifi which I do NOT want interfering with in-ears.. so the subscription ???? how the heck is this going to work IN THE FIELD?? I have owned logic since Logic version 6!!! this is SUPER lame!!!! in the field when I need to multi-track, the field has no internet!!!!
"You will own nothing and be happy". That is the subscription model. Not for me. Only a one time pay otherwise no deal. If you stop subscription, you lose it.
Professionals that claim this back on expenses complaining about £50 a year Also a good pro will just factor in the subscription into their fees surely
Fact is if apple told y’all $200 for Logic on the iPad as well yall would complain about that as well. So here’s your option get it or don’t get it either way I’m in 😂
@Grimbo and all that bad music is what's sells. Ridiculous. Music be whack and you can't understand nothing they saying they sound like they casting spells and people love it.

I agree with you. As a Logic (and Final Cut) user, I have been looking forward to them coming to the iPad. But the whole subscription based model and no third party plugin support completely puts me off!
A lot of us are going to strike? Well to be fair, Apple is not the first to the iPad scene when it comes to video editing and there are other apps out there that allow for a one time purchases. I have even seen apps where they give you the option to pay 5 dollars a month for a subscription or 200 dollars outright. Apple would do so much better if they gave users the ability to choose if they wanted to subscribe or to pay outright.
After 4 years paying 49 dollars, you paid 200 dollars which is the price of logic pro for the laptop and desktop version. In retrospect, it is therefore not beneficial.

Thx mate!!!
Amazing! Apple found a way to boost iPad sales especially since laptop sales have been down with the advent of the M1.
Yeah I really thought there would be some benefit to being a long time logic owner
The only thing I’m waiting for is kontack on iPad
You will still be able to use your logic x on all MACOS products. like you currently do but logic for iPad is different software with the same name. Also, if I buy logic for the iPad, I am not going to be able to use it on my MacBook, so I don't know why people are making such a big fuss about it.
That’s what I figured it was gonna be…
So the iPad iOS project files are not compatible with the Mac version??
Yeziiiir! Goodbye Garage Band! ✌🏾
John I'm NGL to u dis is terrible news for me cuz I got a ipad mini 4 and can't get cuz they don't support those anymore, but that's good to know
It’s not too crazy since these devices are powerful as laptops
The subscription ..... the future
wait till the Mac version goes in the sam direction
49 will morph to 99 in a few years
I can see it...maybe even higher./..like $199 a year on desktop...like basically buying the daw again every year...Pro-tools and Studio One have been doing that for years
@@Johnmike apple is like any company ... they need to make up for the any loss in revenue and make us all pay for it one way or the other
@@Johnmike studio one does it right by letting you choose how you pay
Is LPX preparing us to go subscription based?🤔 gradually!!!
Very good points!
So great👽✌️
Beat Breaker looks like Gross Beat for Logic
Do you pay a subscription fee for a desk you bought at your house? Why do we pay a subscription fee to an app? Are we tenants? Why can't I buy?
that subscription model is a no from me tho
$50 a year is not bad. Definitely cool stuff!!
I actually like the subscription model, it keeps software updated. I want some IA stuff in there, bring it Apple!
That makes zero sense. The software should be updated regardless of how you pay, even if the update isn't free.

For me, Garageband is "weird" and clunky. Hopefully Logic will be better. But I don't know about $50 USD, EVERY YEAR. Ouch.
Great video
They’re going the Adobe route getting apps into more users hands, it’s cheaper than streaming services like Netflix and Spotify, etc.
I use Cubasis 3. Logic Pro looks a LOT better. I always used windows PCs and my iPad M-1 Pro is so much faster, I’m ok paying a dollar a week to have something this good on it.
Right! Love cubasis and i use it a ton but im never going to touch it again after getting Logic Pro!
The free trial better make me feel it’s worth it or I’m sticking to Cubasis & BM3
LMFAO
Beatmaker 3 and cubasis are about to be obsolete bud!!!
Think about what you are encouraging by thinking "its not that much", IT IS that much if you start thinking how much is already subscriptions and how many more they will become if you just keep accepting it all
WTF SICK AF
The convergence continues. This is the next big step from Apple
NO WAY APPLE
I SAY NO TO SUBSCRITIONS!
WAVES TRIED THE SAME THING
i dont want to suport subscription model logic
I mite explore Cubase for a one time fee
Cubasis is great and all but not better than logic by a mile. Also cubasis 4 will release soon and you’ll have to buy cubasis again. This is going to crush cubasis
I would be dope if I was invested into apple ecosystem but I’m not because I can’t respect their glued hard drive model. 5-10-23
Bro… the automation 😢 I hate automation in logic, being able to draw in ramps etc is game changing
I'll just keep using my macbook Pro m1. No money required.
What you guys think? excited for this or naa?

😀😀😀
@@RAILWAY_FILMS I’m not totally sure it’s gonna need the internet to run offline…but we shall see…
How much disk space is needed for the iPad version of Logic Pro?
Why does equipment cost money?????
"You will own nothing and be happy". That is the subscription model. Not for me. Only a one time pay otherwise no deal. If you stop subscription, you lose it.

But these tools already exist on iPad. It's just Apple's version this time.

5 dollars, which is 4,60 in euro's ?
welllll forget about it..... over here in holland it will be 6 euro's per month !!!!!!!!!!!
I was expecting the guy to actually demonstrate it not just talk about it. I guess he doesn't have early access like the rest of us.
I agree with you. As a Logic (and Final Cut) user, I have been looking forward to them coming to the iPad. But the whole subscription based model and no third party plugin support completely puts me off!
There is third party pluggin support and there are many of them available and has been for years. They are called auv3’s
@@cured_bacon647 Oh interesting! I'd like to use my Arturia or Neural DSP plugins. I'm not sure they are available in that format though.
Apple messed up - no one is down with being taken for a ride - a lot of us are gonna strike against apple on this one
Im going to subscribe and many many others will. It’ll be fine
@@cured_bacon647 it don’t matter to me. You could be slaves to apple bro - they are happy to own you 🤣
When my gear pays me a reliable income on a monthly basis, I’ll consider paying monthly for my gear. I buy all my gear upfront. No subscriptions.
After 4 years paying 49 dollars, you paid 200 dollars which is the price of logic pro for the laptop and desktop version. In retrospect, it is therefore not beneficial.
I’ve used Logic since it was called Steinberg. I’m ooooooooooold…. 😊
