I can't believe they were able to fit so much functionality into the app and still have it feel like an iPad app. What a testament to Apple's legendary expertise in UI design.
I truthfully wish I could own this instead of paying monthly or yearly. As a user I’d be more comfortable knowing it’s there permanently.
If Apple let's me BUY the app, I will buy a new iPad Pro, especially for Logic. But I refuse 100% to be in any subscription model.
Really appreciate the detailed visual overview; easy to follow. Thanks again, Chris.
Subscription is a hard pass .. I’ll just stick to my laptop. Looks amazing though.
Perfectly rendered. Learned a lot from you. Thanks
Thanks, Chris. That run-through of adding tracks, instruments, and effects is really useful.
Such a good walkthrough - Thanks for sharing!
I was honestly a bit skeptical about Logic Pro on the iPad, but this video made me change my mind. I think they nailed it in delivering an interface that feels completely 'iPady.' There's a lot to take advantage of on the go. Thank you, Chris, for yet another great video of yours.
This video was a much clearer breakdown than I've seen from other channels. Thank you for the clarity.
Outstanding video! Thank you for introducing us to this exciting new app.
I couldn’t click on this video fast enough!! Lol
As always, thanks for your detailed overview of this app.
I’m a veteran to Logic Pro X and I’m super stoked to see it now on iPad!!
Thanks for your time🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Super introduction of Logic Pro for iPad. This brings me a step forward! Very helpful, as I want to do a vocal recording already on the upcoming Tuesday (with Apogee Boom and A Rode condenser mic)!
They should introduce a one time buy option. It actually might even be expensive. Like it woukd just be great.
Thanks great intro - I haven’t used Apple Pencil before and seeing how and what you can do with it seems to really help workflow. Would be great if you did a quick video on Apple Pencil use/functionality for Logic Pro on iPad.
Bit the bullet and subscribed…really happy with the result of Logic Pro on iPad…love it!
thanks for this video.👍🏾
I think this do great things for on the go, high quality vocal recordings while still being able to work within the project. I’m excited for my projects
GREAT TUTORIAL!!
Excellent analysis. The beat breaker section was especially interesting. Very cool Thanks again for your hard work. I have kind of figured this out, but there is absolutely no support for notation editing, correct? I work with live musicians much of the time and I use the StaffPad app to sketch compositions, then import into Logic to finalize the notation.
I’m trying the trial now, first thing I did was open a project I recorded on my desktop and love how I can interact with it on my iPad Air! So much better than GarageBand
Amazing
Great introduction to the iPad logic pro program
nice stuff man
Best part is all auv3 plug ins are accessible,I was afraid they wouldn’t let us an buy all new plug ins.I think they did a great job for the first version.$49,- a year is worth it for sure if they keep improving it regularly.
This is crazy. I’m sold.
Good work
They should make one of those cases with the keyboard that folds out, but it’s a small MIDI controller instead. That’d be sick.
Hi there! Glad I subscribed on your channel. Very informational on this new type of approach with Logic Pro. Great job! Is it all possible if you can show a tutorial on how to create BACKING TRACKS please? I would like to know how to pan the essential tracks on to the Left and Clicks and Cues to the Right side. How to make them all to be in Mono firstly, then Bounced them to be in Mono, otherwise it will not stay Mono at all. Not sure why. Big thanks in advance!
Currently downloading 😎I’ll follow up in a few weeks
Any follow up?
I’m so hyped . Waooooo
This was easily the best video breakdown of LP on iPad that I’ve seen since it came out, and I’ve seen a lot of videos. Great job. In your expert opinion, do you think Beat Breaker will be coming to LP on the Mac?
That beat is 🔥😎
This is a very good overview of Logic Pro on the iPad. It's an interesting product, but after years of free software (Mac OS) or inexpensive for what you get software with years of free upgrades (Logic Pro), I think Apple is making a major mistake trying to get people to rent this app. I think some will rush out and buy it, but I could see a lot of people paying for a year and then not renewing once they hit all of the many limitations of this concept. Of course, i could be wrong...
Will definitely get it after watching this video
I’ve been playing with Logic Pro ipad Bluetooth connected to my Akai force, and its working great! Can’t do that with the Push 3 lol
Thanks for the video. What have you got your iPad plugged into? Eg USB dock?
great video. `question. Can you still add busses
Thank you. This is helpful.. in your prowling around, is it possible to mix and render spatial or atmos audio or is that a Mac only feature?
Very informative video, thank you! There are a lot of good things with this. But - and how big that is for you may depend on your approach, although for me personally this is huge: having to import your own samples via the files app and not being able to browse them via the browser in Logic is a big, big bummer for me. As someone who has invested money and recording work into building a somewhat large sample library, it would be absolutely necessary to browse my own folders and quickly preview samples, just as you can with the sounds in the Logic/iPad sound packs, or as you can with Logic on the Mac. I fear this is not because of any sandboxing or technical limitations, as access to folders in the Files app should be trivial for Apple. Who knows, it might still be implemented some time in the future, but I am not hopeful.
Great video man. Im just happy to finally see a true heavyweight DAW on the ipad and take full advantage of its beefy processor. No longer have to be glued to the studio at all times. $5 a month? Who the hell cares I'm in.
Thank you for the great overview! Do you know if there's a way for Logic Pro for iPad to receive MIDI Clock/Transport from external hardware?
I was excited, but I hate subscriptions.🤷🏻
I assume atmos is still desktop only?
I caved in and bought the 49 a year. I feel you. FN hate subscriptions.
I’d honestly get used to it, if I were you. Not saying I don’t hate it too, but it’s the way the industry is going.
That’s exactly why more people need to call boycott” (for lack of a better term) subscriptions.
I mean, think about it, realistically, all subscriptions will do is limit the number of companies that people support.
Because none of us are gonna spend $10 a month (on average) for 10-15+ subscriptions. 🤷🏻
After my free trial runs out I might stand my ground 😂 and try to wait it out for a better deal lol🤞 they should’ve made it a one time 50.00 and 10.00 dollar renewal fee once a year.
ok, what about 3rd party plugins ?
Looking forward to Pro Tools to get in on IPad apps.
Incredible resource to support creators with easy to use tools to enhance creativity. Wow! Totally game-changing. Great review as usual, Chris!
Let’s go!!!!
Great demo, more of that please, full song workflow or a synth session with drums and one vocal session, for us with no music theory please
Looks great - does Logic Pro - iPad effectively make Log Pro Remote redundant?
Great video, yet my issue at the moment is that a project I created won’t upload.. and why?
Hi Great Video, a couple of features I wish it included such as an Arranger Track so you can easily construct song sections. The other thing I wish Logic Pro (Lap/Desk-top and iPad versions) had is Chord Track like what Cubase Pro has. I notice Dolby Atmos mixing is missing in the Logic Pro iPad version. Apart from those points, it looks great, unfortunately my 9.7" iPad Pro isn't suitable.. So for the time being I'll continue using my 13" M1 MacBook Pro for mobile/portable use. One thing I wish Logic Pro could do is to be able to pitch alter vocals via a midi keyboard in real time.. so you can change a vocal melody in real time.. in Cubase Pro this can be done. NeverthelessI think Logic Pro for iPad is revolutionary and quite magnificent. Also I think it will shine a new light on how good GarageBand iOS is and a lot of people will re-discover GarageBand iOS on iPhone and iPad. For those that aren't keen on subscriptions, GarageBand iOS is that it's free on Apple iPhones, iPads and computers with loads of sound packs.
Waiting to see when my Abbey Rd plugins will work with this!
i need to see it working with a midi controller, and audio interface.
What model iPad should I buy? Is there a previous generation that works well and wouldn't break the bank? I imagine we need the biggest HD possible...
I'm wondering what people are using on the iPad for audio and midi if you need multiple inputs and outputs?
what about pitch correction? great video!
Yeah they got that
Merge two midi clips ? What about the looper section ? Modulating plugin parameters? Waiting for part 2!
Hi there, would logic work well in a 3rd generation m1 IPad Pro? Just want to make sure before I purchase. Many thanks.
what interface are you using? Doe is power the ipad during use?
Can you import your own sounds via iCloud?
Is there mainstage
Does it use the internal memory? Ssd drive? Doesnt matter?
@Why Logic Pro Rules Can you test it with an external screen?
can u trigger live loop cells with a external midi controller? they show Novation’s launchkey mini in their website, I would if at least that one would work for the moment
Hi -- I'm a musician and I'm trying to decide between the 11 inch and 13 inch iPad Air 6. I mostly create video productions comprised of voice and acoustic guitar, but sometimes do projects that crank up to about 20 tracks, with submixes. I do like the more portable size of the 11", but am I likely to find the 11" a bit cramped for the more multi track projects?
Can you record vocals directly to your ipad with some sort of mic?
Do you know if it’s possible to edit audio regions with flex markers? I can’t seem to find it in the manual. Thanks!
does susain pedals have effect when you connect a midi keyboard to your ipad for production
Question: Is this Apple's opening shot to Ableton?
Will beatbreaker come to the desktop version?
What iPad do your recommend that’s best for the Logic app ? Im not familiar with Apple like that. Please help
Unlike like the iPad version of Garageband, can we export midi from Logic Pro so it can be used in projects in a desktop DAW ? More specifically for those who don't use Mac and the desktop versions of GarageBand or Logic
A small/nano Bluetooth keyboard controller and this will be an awesome workstation.
Are you using a 12.9 inch iPad or the smaller version?
How about 3rd party plug ins please. Thank you😊
Can I use quick swipe comping on iPad?
Can you put logics library on an external hardrive with logic for iPad ? That’s a pretty large deal breaker !!! Thanks
how do you export each track as stems?
the beat breaker plugin is even on the Mac version?
Thanks for the video. I don't understand why someone would pay an annual fee to use it on the iPad. if you're on the go, you use your laptop, and at home your desktop.
I really like the idea and (as someone who owns Logic on my Mac) hope that this opens up possibilities for so many people that they wouldn't have gotten otherwise. However, I’m ticked off about the pricing model Apple decided to use. One-time fee? That would've been fine. I get it; it stings to have to buy Logic again if you have it on Mac, but a lot of man power and time and effort has gone in to allowing this to see the light of day. I’d love to use Logic Remote more (and heck it's free), but it hasn’t been updated for a while I think, and I dare say Logic for iPad is just more optimised. Anyway, the fact that it's not free isn’t what I have a problem with. I hate the idea of perpetually giving money to big tech corp in general, but especially in this case because I’m paying for a slimmed-down version of an app I already have. It would've been great if Apple could have a rent-to-own scheme, whereby you pay a subscription, but only up until some hard and fast figure has been payed in total.
And I suggest this, because the price itself (what it costs) is really good. £50 to have this for a year? That's amazing! I havenn't even owned Logic on my Mac for half of that quite yet, so being able to only pay £50 for the time I have used it would be fantastic. It's also a nice way of getting people to trial out the app more long-term than what the official free trial allows. Sometimes 90 days isn't enough, so it's good that it's now fairly enexpensive to try Logic out for longer. That's what I say. If you’re going to release a little brother of industry software on iPad, tag it with a one-time purchase. If you’re not gonna do that, have users pay a subscription until they reach that one-time price.
And despite all of what I just said, I really respect some of the UI and app decisions here. The new app looks great, and I love how they've adapted some of the sections and controls for touch; I just hope that all the consistent money they're pulling in is put to good use in the app.
Thanks for coming to my seminar…
This will be cumbersome as time goes on. There is still a lot of work to do the computer or desktop Daw I'd still the best and gives you more room to do everything. The logic pro ipad is ok for a running or traveling musician but for a studio engineer, you need the real Daw in a hybrid computer. Ipad Daw feels and looks like a play station game
Are you planning on making any advanced user tutorials? Because there are plenty of intro videos now.
Can you impory key commands?
Is there a way to save projects to anywhere besides iCloud? I tried turning iCloud off but it keeps doing so.
How to make a track in mono as for audio or midi on iPad? I try to find it but i can’t
does support multicore?
does it run third party plugs and outboard gear?
In future is there any indication whether AUs like Omnisphere will work as a hosted unit within Logic Pro for iPad?
They will have to develop it for iPadOS, if they think it will be worth it (then you'll have to buy it again--most likely)
I sure hope logic pro on mac is not going subscription!!! This is not a good sign... At the very least a purchase option with sub should be an option.... I will leave logic if apple goes to sub...
Hello,
Can you control CC with Logic Remote ?
Can I use third party virtual instruments?
What size ipad is this?
Can't think of any reason why I would want to use Logic on an IPad. Now, a deeper version of the Remote would really be useful.
I would like to play around with the surround sound tools, anyone know how to do it would like to have different track elements bouncing around left to right
Now bring back the 3.5 audio output so we can sample and connect midi devices with the USB-C port and monitor through regular headphones
@Simon Lomax I already have a Steinberg UR22C, but it sucks the power out if the ipad unfortunately 🥲
How different is it from their free GarageBand?
Great breakdown! Lots of neat features in this, Apple has really put some effort into this one. The plugin tiles are a nice feature similar to Ableton's. Sadly the subscription model sets a bad precedence for future Apple software. $50 a year isn't a huge deal but that's on top of the price of the iPad and everything else life throws at you.
but 4.99 a month? I can do that
Agreed… they should just make it a pay up front price but $50/yr isn’t bad
Just wait until they pull a protools or Adobe and it’s 50-100$ a month
Can you add your own drum samples into this I have hundreds of my own sounds and it would be great to be able to have them here
That’s what I wanna kno too
How to multi midi editing in logic Pro iOS pls help me find is that multi midi supporting in logic Pro iOS ??
