I can’t believe they figured this out! Happy to see it, though probably not going to attempt this on my older generation iPad. I’m able to run Logic Remote fine but I don’t know how it would react to this, or if it’s even permissible
Played around with it today... My five cents: For those guys who have used Logic (desktop) for a long time I think the iPad version might be a bit underwhelming. I guess what everyone having a desktop setup would enjoy is doing some editing etc. on the go on their iPad but the midi and audio editing with the pencil in reality simply is not as a nice experience as shown in the promo videos and lots of keyboard shortcuts aren't available... Let's see - maybe future iterations will have improved features!
what a game changer. one thing i always wanted was to have something more powerful than garageband on a mobile device, because logic used to be only on mac. seems like my hopes have been fulfilled.
@@MarsCapone the main reason why i don’t use those is because they don’t sync with logic, which i expected logic for ipad to do. as it turns out, it has a subscription system and doesn’t work very seamlessly.
This is a must have. I think it can be a new paradigm for music production. I didn't think i would be interested, but your fabulous demo and the fact that Apple always surprises me with its foresight. Can you imagine having multiple I pads stacked in a square ? That will possible, if not now, then soon. You can then bounce to the cloud
I can’t remember when was the last time I watched a RUclips video for over an hour. Very helpful and well explained. That being said… Apple pls take my money!!!!!!!
You don’t have to be so hard on yourself and apologize for your vocal recordings. They are perfectly fine for a demo. No one expects your vocal performances to be on the level of Celine Dion. 😀 Your viewers keep coming back because of your knowledge of the DAW and recording and mixing. Plus your ability to present the material in a clear and coherent manner that makes it easy for users of all levels to understand.
Looks great, but having Logic on a laptop gives me all I need, no issues with plugins. Can see it being of interest to those that want to try Logic, or even getting into production but can't afford a Mac. So I agree with LTHG, it might be useful once in a blue moon and maybe just paying a months sub when needed is better than paying for something upfront that you'll rarely use and will take up a lot of space on your iPad. Great video as always.
You do not shy away from giving a FULL walkthrough, thanks for that dude!! In regards to Logic for iPad, and these are just my own thoughts and considerations here, Im wondering why I would upgrade my iPad hardware to be compatible with the app and pay for it, rather than just pick up a MacBook Air M1 and use that for mobile with Full Logic Pro and all 3rd party plugin compatibility? It seems that this is a neat and powerful upgrade from GarageBand users on iPad looking for more, but maybe not quite in the realm of full Audio production with 3rd party plugins for Mac users. I think carrying a MacBook Air or an iPad Pro 11" would be very similar for travel convenience and near the same price for the hardware. therefore it comes down to compatibility and cost of the software. Paying extra for a program that I already own on Mac is not ideal. Not being able to use the plugins (Waves, Arturia, Slate Digital, etc) I use all the time and have paid for already is sort of a deal breaker right now. Anyway, that's just my own opinion. Thanks for the vid though, it is very helpful!
Hey Josh, I see all the excitement and enthusiasm for Logic Pro on the iPad. And without a doubt you are the most incredible educator and presenter for Logic Pro. However, from a personal point of view to be proficient on the iPad, a keyboard and Apple pencil becomes a must. Which to me seems like using the Mac would be easier and with greater functionality. But don’t get me wrong; I think it is totally viable and fun for certain users. It’s like GarageBand on steroids. I’m only about halfway through this video so I don’t know if you addressed this: can you be charging your iPad while using Logic? I can connect my MPC Mini MK3 to my iPad and launch GarageBand but the battery drains rather quickly. I sincerely hope that all who are interested get the most out of Logic Pro for iPad and create some masterpieces for everyone to enjoy. Gianni❤ (PS: I see you dressed up for this presentation) 😉
It would be awesome if Apple implemented the plugin tiles thing in the desktop version… this plus less mouse clicks in the UI and a native research feature and I’m completely sold
I’m going to buy it as soon as they put out a one time cost. I don’t care if it’s 200 bucks. Thank you for the tutorial and hopefully I will get to enjoy this soon. It looks incredible and I can’t wait to mix and master on the couch with headphones . I and a large majority of musicians don’t do rental software so we will just have to wait.
@@HIDEYOURFACEUK Well Apple has a pretty good hold on the hardware, OS and video editing software. When it comes to music production software they are just one of many. The competition is much stiffer and Apple just have to decide if they want to lose the business. They will lose business if they go to a subscription model. Other companies will capitalize. Who knows what will happen
No, I don’t believe other companies will capitalize. What I believe other company will start this now, because other people have unfortunately paid for the subscription and they will see this. This is why we could have nothing but I won’t be paying for a subscription now and in the future paying for the Logic pro subscription on a desktop because this is where this is headed.
@@BigBadWolf.............. I hear what your saying, however i think its slightly different in the iOS world as this seems to be by far the most detailed DAW on a tablet/phone, like they are trying to get a grip on the market. It looks like they want to move to the subscription based model with it on iOS but it would be stupid for them to do this for Logic Pro X on mac.
Very clear Zen quality voice and enjoyable presentation, Good Job dude ! I'm addicted to this interface. This is the "Best" interface I've ever experienced. This is an earth-shaking game changer 🤤😇🤪 Perfect vocals in two modest "takes" ✌🏼🌈 This man is the perfect host for my needs, maybe I should give a bit of my humble money one of these days ?
Crossfading audio is a silly thing to not put on this. Hopefully they’re working on it and also giving us handles for normal fading on clips as well as clip gain.
There are *not* “a few” 3rd-party plugins out there… I’ve been making music on my iPad for ten years and there are literally hundreds of phenomenal apps out there. Obviously cross-compatibility is an issue but if you’re just using an iPad then your options are incredible.
Right? There are so many amazing AUV3’s available now and with the release of Logic Pro for iPad it’ll only get better and at a greater pace. I’ve been waiting for this since the M1 ipad pros launched
I like using iPad as a controller with Logic. MPE instruments or just when the expression makes sense. Never thought I’d be opening my projects on it. I’ll have to adjust my mind to idea of untethering from the desk. The opportunities..
respect to you for always doing a great job.!.been on logic since before it had audio and you're still teaching me stuff. i remember the day a dongle came out and if you plugged it into your computer you could record audio ..mind blown ! this too is a big step , if you can do pro work on it.
I was literally waiting for your version of this topic. Thanks so much I have learned so much from your videos and courses than from everyone else’s combined. Keep making awesome educational videos
Terrific video as always. Short term while I still only own an Intel iMac Logic for iPad provides a great way to incorporate compositions/audio using AUv3 iPad plugins and instruments into my Logic Pro projects on the iMac and vice versa. I feel for that alone it's worth at least one annual subscription...
You do an amazing job on these tutorials! I would love to see the in-depth from start to finish on this like you did with logic pro for Mac. Thanks again.
this was a dream came true and than “subscription”, this will let down a lot of people that otherwise would have bought an Ipad pro if it would have been Logic pay to own, what a wired move from apple they are not a small developer that need subscription to keep staying on business!! It would be interesting if you could compare the engine summing sound quality between Logic Ipad e Logic Desktop if they sound identical or different?
Incredible! Logic Pro for iPad isn‘t out long and you can already offer a high quality tutorial video for it. My day has only 24 hours, yours seem to be 3x as long. An incredible workaholic! Thanks so much!
Great first review by the best Logic instructor out there! I love my laptop, but a touch version of LP is going to be another experience altogether - really great for composing/jamming/sketching wherever I am before taking ideas to desktop. I like the $50/yr subscription, and I think Apple will continue to earn their money on this one. I want to use the DAW. I don’t need to “own” it.
Cool tutorial. Fantastic as always. Got excited and installed. Fired it up and ….. wah waaaah. Subscription. Got unexcited and immediately uninstalled. I would rather just pay for it flat out and own it. Oh Apple. If that ever changes, I will be back here and watching your tutorials on this product! I shouldn’t have skipped over the pricing section in your video. :)
Thank you for this great introduction. I will not see a use for this at the moment as I am not owning a compatible iPad 😒 But maybe in future it make sense to use it for travelling instead of carrying my MacBook Pro. But when I look to it, is is not much larger than the iPad.🤔
Congratulations for the review. One question: How do I import mp3 tracks to the timeline? On the browser there is no connection with external HD / pen drive. Thank You!!!
Thanks so much for these great tutorials you do. I’ve learned so much. Can you help me figure out a few things please? 1. I have an IR file that matches my acoustic guitar sound board transducer to an external mic. How do I set this up inside Logic for iPad? How would I apply the IR file to my guitar channel strip? 2. I have UA Volt 2, where I’ve set up channel 1 to be acoustic guitar input, into iPad Logic for processing, and send the signal to amp via Output 1. Is there a way to add a drummer track, turn it into mono, and send it out to Output 2? I just can’t seem to figure out how to do this. Drummer keeps sending output to both Output 1 and 2. I want to use Out 1 only for guitar, and Out 2 only for drummer. I am experimenting using Logic for iPad to replace my pedal board, and so far it is very promising!
Can someone recommend a good “workstation” type iPad compatible VST to use with Logic Pro? I spend most of my time using PreSonus Studio One on PC, and am interested in giving L-Pro a run. I want a sound app to use with Logic that records data as midi (not audio). Figured I start with an all in one type of sound app, and then purchase more genre specific sound apps if Logic works out for me on the iPad. Thx!
