Just a little band from Down Under. They were HUGE in the 80s. Pretty much ANY song by them is good, but Take It Easy On Me and Cool Change are two guaranteed great tunes. Side note: They were having trouble naming the band because there was always one member or another who didn't like the suggestion until one day they were driving down the highway and saw the exit sign for Little River and it just stuck with them.
For some reason, with this band more than any other, I always envision these guys in a room rehearsing and having the time of their lives. They just seem like a bunch of regular guys with good senses of humor who'd be cracking each other up behind the scenes.
LRB were often referred to as the "Eagles of Australia". Terrific poetry, arrangements and harmonies. Their song "Reminiscing" was described by Frank Sinatra as "the perfect song" and he hoped to record a version some day. My favorite of theirs is "Take it Easy On Me".
Thanks for giving these guys so much love, they are certainly underrated. You will also not be dissapointed with Take It Easy On Me and It's A Long Way There...both are classics
@@AussiePegasus01 None of them are the "original" members, but Wayne Nelson has been there since 1980 so they're not really a cover band they are the Little River Band, with different members. The next longest standing member is Chris Marion and he joined in 2004 after the hey days of the band.
The great thing about LRB is just when you think you've heard every great song they have you hear another one. I bought my first album when I was in Australia in 1979. I wanted to buy something that was an Australian staple to take back to the USA and I chose their first greatest hits record. The Australian one. It was great, packed with all their early hits. Then I bought some of their individual records, then the 2 disc live record. Eventually I bought the 2 CD best of (the 1st one that came out). One song on that collection that I never heard before was called "Long Jumpin' Jeweler". BANG! Another old LRB song that escaped me for many years. That's why they are called Australia's answer to The Eagles. They just keep on giving.
Love he Little River Band. They remind me so much of The Eagles. So tight,so talented and both great live. Thank you for the video and keep the videos coming. Love ya'll!
If you saw them in the US they have no connection with the original LRB. Through some legal manoeuvring the people currently performing as LRB not only got the rights to use the name but have prevented the original performers and songwriters from performing their own songs under the LRB name or even using "formerly of LRB" to promote their solo performances. The only reason I would get their autograph would be to burn it in a public place. The people calling themselves LRB will never be welcome in Australia. We don't have much time for copycats. If they are flogging the band's greatest hits as their own, that is doubly heinous.
I don’t know if you saw the original members, Birtles Shorrock Goble, or the current lineup, but I just watched a RUclips video of the original members singing live in 2022 and they sounded great!
You've done several LRB songs, and it's amazing that you haven't gotten around to the eight-minute version of "It's a Long Way There" yet. That was their first international success.
One of the BEST bands that came out of the late 1970s ... they had hit after hit from 1977 to 1984 and a few into the 1990s.... but they're good stuff was the late 70s and very early 80s.
"Help is on the Way" was the Little River Band's 3rd single to chart on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, peaking @ #14 in 1977. Between 1976 thru 1985, LRB charted 16 singles on the Hot 100, including 6 Top 10 hits. Highest charting hit: "Reminiscing" peaked @ #3 in 1978.
@@bqkmg2037 It's certainly possible LRB may have charted on niche Billboard charts like Adult-Contemporary after 1985, BUT their last Billboard Hot 100 single was "Playing to Win" which debuted 1/26/85 and charted 8 weeks peaking @ #60.
These guys were on a has been tour in the '90's. We went to see them and I thought I would recognize a coupla songs. Turns out I knew every lyric to every song.
Cool Change is at the very top of my top 100 list of all time. A lot of it was definitely how it touched me when it first came out. That song *was me* but aside from that, it's just a *great song* . I totally agree - Little River Band is something special.
I loved the sounds of the 70's. Something special about the way bands played, guitar playing and the harmonies that drove so many good songs. The writing was so good.
Hey guys this is one of their early hits reached number 14 in 1976. another one of their early hits from 1977 Happy Anniversary Baby and Take it easy on me from 1981 keep up the great work guys
"Down On the Border" is a great song, has a mysterious & Southern vibe y'all would like. "Happy Anniversary", "Man on Your Mind", "Take It Easy On Me", "It's a Long Way There" are all great songs as well.
Yeah. One of my requests were played!😄 Thanks. Probably one of my faves that you haven't reacted so far is "Take It Easy On Me" and John Farmham singing "We Two". He replaced lead singer Glenn Shorrock later on.
Glenn Shorrock (the lead singer) was in a few successful Aussie bands before LRB. Might I suggest the Twilights "Cathy Come Home" from 1968 or Axiom's "A Little Ray of Sunshine" from 1970.
Thank you for those suggestions..... I've been suggesting A little ray of sunshine every LRB reaction Jay and Amber have done, especially as they are blessed to have a girl. Very classic song that definitely deserves a reaction ❤❤
I highly recommend “It’s a Long Way There”, the first song from their very first album. If you want to hear them rock try “Hard Life” including the prelude. It’s from the album First Under the Wire. Great harmonies and guitar work on both songs. There probably aren’t videos. Probably audio only but that’s all you need.
Amber is right about the harmonizing, LRB is one of the best. If you want to hear the One single song with the most awesome harmonizing, most people will agree that it's "Seven Bridges Road" by The Eagles.
@@Fred-gv3kh For me LRB could be the Second best, behind The Bee Gees. But my comment was about a Specific SONG, not a band. If you watch reaction videos for "Seven Bridges Road", practically All of those reactors say it's the best harmonizing they've heard.
My hubby and I and a couple of friends saw the Little River Band, Fleetwood Mac, Bob Welch(was with FM at one time) and Steve Miller Band at the CottenBowl Jam in Dallas back in the early ‘80’s. All were awesome!!
This one their many great hit singles. However Guyz you still haven’t reacted to Little River Band’s penultimate classic - ‘It’s a long way there’ full length album version. It was their first US hit and remains their best. 🙏
Almost ready to do some of their catalogue from the period while John Farnham was the lead singer. Alternative might I suggest reaction to John's duet with Jimmy Barnes - When something is wrong with my baby. It will blow you away.
A banger of a song from LRB in 1977! If you've not done so yet, I'd strongly recommend listening to their song "Cool change", one of their best, if not their VERY best song....
I was just letting your reactions play one after another ( I do that when 😅I’m cleaning or cross stitching ) I realized that you have not listened to two of my favorite Queen songs. 1 - Don’t Stop Me Now. 2- The Miracle (one of the best videos imo ). Of course I always ask you to play the Queen Live Aid concert😊. Y’all have a great week. Ruby
"It's a long way there" - 8 minutes of musical perfection. That song has it all, perfect harmonies, guitars and orchestration.
You will love it.
I never fully appreciated the Little River Band until I was older. My absolute favorite is "Lady". ❤️
It's up their, but I can't pick a favorite.
Me tooo
I know right. I disliked the little river band too until recently 😁
Cool Change is mine.
It's a Long Way There is mine
“Take it Easy on Me” & “Reminiscing” are also top notch & the lyrics to latter are timeless.
100% 😁👌,John Lennon said "Reminiscing" was a masterpiece just before he died.
Reminiscing tugs my heart strings. Great song with lots of memories both good and bad.
I love Reminiscing. Such an awesome song. 🤗🥰
I saw the lead singer Glen Shorrock at a music festival a few months back ..He still has it...Great talent..Great voice...
-awesome !-
And a nice guy to chat to . . We were at the same party in melbourne . . Great to have a cassual chat . . And not about his fame . . Just chating . .
One of my favorite bands of all time.

I actually prefer them over The Eagles

Agreed. Shorrock was a bit of an idiot signing the LRB name away. The Birtles Shorrock Goble concert DVD Full Circle is a must see.

Huey Lewis and The News also has some of the sweetest harmonies! ✌
My favorite song of theirs, since it came out in '77....I was 11!!
Saw them at the Iowa state fair. Another group had cancelled and they announced it was free to come in. One of the best concerts I’ve ever seen.
