The Little River Band was a staple of my childhood. I'm so happy you found them. So many great songs. "Lonesome Loser", "Cool Change", "Lady", "Take It Easy On Me", "Help Is On The Way" "Man On Your Mind", "Night Owls", "The Other Guy", etc. Love your channel guys!
All of the songs listed above are incredible. If you liked Reminiscing, you are going to be blown away by the rest of this list! Especially "Cool Change", "Take It Easy on Me", and "The Night Owls"!
@@joevanseeters2873 Now that my life, is so prearranged, I think that it's time for a cool change... I've never been romantic and sometimes I don't care I know it may sound selfish but let me breathe the air 😀. I was a teen when this came out. Now I look in the mirror and "OMG"! lol
Reminiscing was a #3 hit in the U.S, the biggest they had here. One of the founding members, Beeb Birtles, had been a member of the Australian pop band Zoot, which helped launch the career of Rick Springfield, also a member. One of Zoot's biggest records was a hard Rock version of the Beatles' Eleanor Rigby.
VERY interesting! I'm looking at Rick on the Guitar in a video for it (Eleanor Rigby) from the late 60's(?), this is not bad. I love checking out covers (interpretations) of classic songs, really liking it. But . . . if you are daring, its ironic that my all time favorite cover is Eleanor Rigby, by a Progressive Thrash band from Milwaukie called "Realm", they were the 1st Thrash band to use Guitar Synths and were very different than other bands, sadly they only have 2 albums and one of their guitarists passed away a few years ago. I love how they emulate the violins by making it a "riff", and the vocalist adds harmonies at just the right time. I like that they take it over the top and almost make it their own song. Their original material is really awesome (that is, if you are into heavier music). They also do "Red Nightmare" from King Crimson. Kansas, and the Prog Metal band "AtmOsphere" also do Eleanor Rigby, both very good as well! - Thanks for "Zoot"! Will have to checkout more :).
Gee I really liked that version of Eleanor Rigby by the Zoot. I was my of my first singles ever. Do you remember how high those guitars were thrown? Good memories.
I was a teen when I first hear Little River Band and I was hooked. You're in for a treat as you delve into their music. So many awesome songs to enjoy with them
If you like this you will love the band Ambrosia. They started out progy, then became an amazing pop band with great vocals and musicianship that has a ton of hooks. You guys probably heard some of their hit songs, but you will love all their music.
Crowd went absolutely nuts when I Saw them do this in concert. First time I saw them in concert was 2008. They opened for REO for a flood relief concert at Prairie Meadows Casino Altoona, Iowa. Just $20 to get in and all proceeds were donated by the bands for devastating floods central Iowa had that summer. Magical night, with a sold out electric crowd. Top 5 concert for me and I've been to hundreds
This song is making me reminisce of the 70's & 80's. Loved The Little River Band...saw them in concert in the early 90's in Del Mar, CA - they were great live
Ty for getting to our Aussie Little River Band, I am glad you enjoyed them. They did have a few big hit's in the USA but always remained grounded in Australia. They broke up and never reformed as The Little River Band as the bass player retained the name so went on to perform with the 3 main members Beb Birttles Graham Gobbles and The lead Singer Glen Shorrock
OMG. I am all over you guys. This has become my favorite song lately. Remembered it from long ago and listeed more closely. Perfect song for reactions because the subject is remembering old days and old music. Wow.
So glad I found your channel. You are young people, but you have old hearts. You really appreciate and understand the classic’s. There are a million gems out there…..let’s discover them (or rediscover) some of the greatest musical talents the world has ever made. Thank you😍
One of our greatest bands to come from Australia. So many wonderful songs to listen to and discover. Like others I really recommend It’s A Long Way There . The long version though - not the short one .
I always love the smiles on your faces during gems like these. It's ditty's like this that make me think the only reason we've never been attacked by aliens is because they all want to leave us alone and keep making those sweet pop songs that only that planet earth can do ;)
I saw Little River Band in 1978 when they toured the album that this song is from "Sleeper Catcher." They sounded so damn good! The show started with them behind a curtain that opened with a big mirrored ball above them shooting flecks of light out onto the audience while they played "It's A Long Way There." Their singing was perfect as was their music, it was an incredible concert. I snuck a small bong into the show, my friends and I got so high at this concert.
IMO this is a great Mix of America (Harmonies) and Steely Dan(Music). Another great songs are "The Night Owl", " Lonesome Loser" and "Help is on it's way".
Cool Change is probably my Fave! LRB song.. I was 23 in '78 which is around the time I mostly remember listening to them.. LRB had numerous hits.. they wrote easy listening songs with a lot character.. great band. Also I grew up on Vancouver island (B.C. Here in the UK we class this and as ' Yacht Rock ' one of my favourite genres and eras ❤ ' Cool Change 'was also super popular too, his voice is fantastic ❤

Excellent choice Lots to listen to from this great Australian band Glenn Shorrock is the vocalist Graeham goble and Beeb Birtles vocals and guitars Be careful the original band lost the rights to the band name The new guys are still out there Using the LRB name
Hey guys, LRB were our top vocal harmony group down here in Australia in the 70's/80's. They were superb songwriters & fine musicians having major commercial success in Australia & the States. Glen Shorock was the original lead singer who was replaced by John Farnham for 3 years in the early 80's before rejoining the band. I strongly recommend "It's a long way there" from their self titled debut album, make sure you check out the full album version. It features beautiful orchestration, vocal harmonies & stunning guitar work by original lead guitarist Rick Formosa. Happy listening, cheers
A great Australian band with a lot of history. They were basically a supergroup, with many of the band members having made it with other bands before forming this one.
Such a great song from my childhood faves for radio play. Always excited when it came on. It has such an iconic sound for me that belongs to the time it was released. The opening bars always reminded me of my Sunday tv show with Tom Patton.
I graduated in 1978 and LRB was huge. "Cool Change" is their most iconic song IMO. "Happy Anniversary" has some great harmonies and a cool funky slap-bass track. Many other great tracks mentioned by others=big rabbit hole. Enjoy!
I first heard LRB when they released their first single in the US called "Long Way There". I didn't know who they were but fell in love with their sound right away. Of course I'm older than both of you but it was delightful to watch your reactions to this great song. Frank Sinatra said it was one of the best songs he ever heard. Reminiscing was the first LRB song I ever played for my girl friend (now my wife) and she still mentions it ever time we hear it on SiriusXM some 43 years later. As for Steely Dan, their Aja album is just a masterpiece. Thanks for the video.
Michael Mc Donald or Steve Winwood are very deep holes to explore....Steve starting about 15 years old in the Spencer Davis group...then into the band Traffic in the early 70's....then his solo career.... Michael's musical journey working with Steely Dan....the Doobie brothers then his solo career....also check him out with Donal Fagen in 2012 as The Dukes of September. Enjoy the ride! Love the channel.
I'm 63 years young and love your youth. I like your style of reacting too. Lead singer Glenn Shorrock was part of a previous band called "Axiom". Check out a song called "A little ray of sunshine". Seldom would I find an appreciation of this fine Aussie music by true aficionados. From your biggest Aussie fan. It's Les from South Australia.
Great reaction. You guys must do their song "It's a long way there", but make sure you get the extended version. I just know you'll both love it. Orchestra...funk...great guitar licks..harmonies.... a sublime song.
Little River Band....a blast from the past. In 1978, when "Reminiscing" was a hit, AM radio here in America played them constantly. I was very young but I remember hearing this song a lot at the time. The band was from Australia. Their guitar player, Beeb Birtles, played bass for another Australian band in the early 1970's with a famous guitar player and singer who would go on to America and be a big success in the 1980's. The band was named, Zoot. The famous singer would be, Rick Springfield. If you like this band then try "Take It Easy On Me" and "Night Owls." :)
Great reaction! LRB is a fun rabbit hole to go down. As much as I enjoy my hard rock and progressive rock, the talent and smoothness of bands like LRB and Steely Dan from the 70's/80's is candy for the ears. And the songs stand the test of time. There are great artists from every decade, but I am so grateful to have grown up from elementary school to high school in the 70's/80's. The house and car were always filled with music and the genres and variation we had on the airwaves then will probably never be repeated. So good.
I have to say, I was absolutely amazed to find this song on your channel... I've only watched a couple of dozen of your reactions but I have come back time and time and time again to watch your reaction to Max Webster, Battle Scar, because the pure bliss on your faces when you figure out what is "really" going on is absolutely timeless. But generally speaking, I'm a fan of a lot of the same stuff you are, but I didn't expect this song to be something you'd be interested in. I only stumbled on your reaction because I was scrolling around for reactions to some of my favourite songs from "days gone by" and I recognized you guys and had to check this out. Great pick... and yes, I can see just below this section that Falconer1128 has recommended quite a few other Little River Band songs... and I have to say, this is one of those bands that you might not know the name of, but if you're of a "certain age" you definitely know the music, and the music is good enough that all of it deserves to be revisited by all generations. Thanks for this, and for everything you do... hope all is well with you and yours... ~Dan
I remembered reading somewhere that John Lennon loved this song and a quick google search later I found this info.....According to Albert Goldman’s biography, John Lennon named “Reminiscing” as one of his favourite songs. May Pang, erstwhile girlfriend of Lennon, said “Oddly, with all the fantastic music he wrote, “our song” was ‘Reminiscing’ by the Little River Band.”
Great Aussie Band.... The song ' Its a Long Way There' epic track you need to listen to ( lead break heaven), made it big in the US. Saw these guys so many times in Oz....
I was 9 when this song came out, and it's one of those songs I remember from when I was a kid. It might not be my usual style per se, but since i fell in love with the song at a young age, it kind of stuck. It's ironic that this song about nostalgia makes me now nostalgic. #nicknlexrequest Rush - Hemispheres
I have one question, Have YOU heard of the Lonesome Loser? I am beaten by the Queen of Hearts everytime, I'm a loser but I just keep on tryin.... I also wanted to say that I went on Twitter and did a search on Reminiscing and quite a few people have tweeted this word in the last few hours, very interesting.
there's another band from the 70's that had great music, not as many hits as LRB but they had a really popular song named "Baby come back" the band is called Player, check out their song, you will love it, great song.
Loved this 70's song. Also you all were speaking about the Doobie Brothers. Check out "South City Midnight Lady." One of their best songs I think. Cheers!
The original lineup of LRB was one of the best compilations of musicians ever, their best of album has so many bangers. Too bad 3 major members got hosed later on. The beginning of "It's A Long Way There" reminds me of the first chord of your intro music. I saw revisions of the band in 1997 and in 2006ish, great concerts but not the original members. They still tour, I think.
Hey Nick N Lex, I'm so happy you two found LRB. In the mid and late 70's there were a lot of, what were called lite rock bands, I just call it smooth. I'm glad you liked the song and they have many more. Another good one is Atlanta Rhythm Section. Keep up the good work.
One of my favourite Aussie bands as a kid. Yes, you'll be down a LRB rabbit hole soon if you're not already. They were well known for the band members having beautiful harmonies with excellent singing voices. Glenn Shorrock was their original lead singer and my favourite, and he also sung most of their big classic hits like this one. In later years the band changed its lineup, and it's a bit of a long story!
Face in the Crowd was always a favorite of mine by Little River Band. Also staying down under try Men at Work - Overkill, Maria, and It’s a Mistake are all great.
I saw them in Calgary circa late 70's . They were backing up Boz Scaggs but honestly, I enjoyed LRB as much, if not more! Cool Change is my 2nd favourite song, Reminiscing # 1. LOVE YOU TWO 😁
They had a lot of hits in the late 70's, early 80's but this one is their best in my opinion. Very listenable, not as cryptic as Steely Dan. Just very pleasant music. I love it! Always have. I'm glad you chose the original version as some reactors listen to a later live version with a different lead singer.
Your comparison of this band to Steely Dan was really spot on. So reminiscent of that jazz rock style with its use of such a variety of instruments 🎸🎹🎺🥁🎷🎻🎼❤️✌🏼😎

Yes, listening to LRB takes back.❤
Great band!
This reminds me of the movie The Other Guys... wIll Ferrell has six cd's cued up to LRB at all times

when you get to' Men at Work'...Overkill and Down By the Sea...I want my SHOUT OUT !!
Smooth as it gets.
Little River Band is an Aussie band and have a lot of great songs.
there's another band from the 70's that had great music, not as many hits as LRB but they had a really popular song named "Baby come back" the band is called Player, check out their song, you will love it, great song.
Loved this 70's song. Also you all were speaking about the Doobie Brothers. Check out "South City Midnight Lady." One of their best songs I think. Cheers!
Nick's plaid shirt looks really comfy.
"Lonesome Loser" is another excellent LRB song
The long version of "it's a long way there" should be next.
I saw them at my first ever festival, Reading 1977 in the UK
I still love this song so much. It's perfect! I was 16 when it came out.
Love Cool Change or Lady.
LOVE YOU TWO 😁
I like that it's about an event in the 1940's with reference to the great band leader Glenn Miller.
