RussianNuke8 umm. Countries are not races. Oh wait... You thought i meant indians??? Indies means independents. America is independent. Independence day? Ring a bell?
Even minecraft gives you more of an objective than this. I get that they wanted to allow us to do whatever we wanted but they didnt do it in a way to keep the game actually interesting. It will be nice to explore the world but it wont take long to get tired of there not being much to actually do.
Think about it- you can gather a bunch of friends, find a new planet, and then cause the extinction of an entire alien species! Seriously though- this is going to be awesome.
Here's what I like- -graphics look great -new concept seems fun -no game guides the first day of how to beat it plus no needling to level up to compete against others a la COD or WoW or others -a game that we actually might play for years. What I dont like- -no multiplayer until we find each other, which might never happen -might be too soft on combat for shooter fans like me
My most anticipated game so far. I cannot wait to explore and find different worlds with beautiful flora and diverse and interesting fauna like the ones show in this video. What we've seen so far is absolutely mind-boggling.
Okay, I get that this engine and idea is really cool. But honestly... without any objective or way to improve or build it seems like it could get very boring. I love the idea of space exploration more than the average person (astronomy nerd here), but games need to have more objective than this, I think.
dude you need to watch other videos they explain everything. there is not an exact objective, but you can choose what do you want to do, you can try to travel to the center of the universe, you can try to have the most badass ship ever by gathering resources or stealing them and so much more. this game is the dream of every gamer.
xbone is already dead in the water. MAYBE they put it on the xbone a year after PS4, but obviously the bone will struggle with this game performance-wise as it struggles with anything ambitious. For me, this is the first real reason to get a PS4 - maybe also Dreadnaught, and hopefully Kingdom Under Fire 2.
***** xbone winning the console war? BUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA LOOL. the bone is already struggling to put out a decent resolution and over 30fps with lauch-time titles, and seriously when has a Direct-X update EVER increased your graphics hardware performance? NEVER, actually the opposite cause they cram in more effects and require better hardware with each update. Obviously you don't have a clue about computers and believe in the pipe-dreams that MS is putting out for it's dumb customers. I can tell you what's gonna happen to the xbone in 3 years - MS will be slowly abandoning it and trying to get out a better console that doesn't suck so bad behind the PS4. Then you can try to sell it at a garage sale maybe cause it won't be worth much when everybody wants the new one. They'll also abandon the bone software-wise, cause they can't keep up bribing developers to make games for a fail system. Ah yes, and of course the bone also sucks in usability, has a sluggish interface, and installing games takes forever, like 10 times as long as on the PS4.
***** 2-3 years? Buy that time, PS4 will be filled with AAA exclusives. And, DX12 won't save the XB1. Many of those updates XB1 was getting, PS4 had since launch. You Xfags act like indies are a bad thing. By the end of this year (2014) those indie game statements you make will be irrelevant. PS4 will have: KZSF, Infamous: Second Son, Knack, TLOU: Remastered, LBP3, DriveClub, etc.
what everyone else is gonna do: i'm gonna become a pirate and i'll get these resources and i'll have epic battles and what i'm gonna do: .... i'm gonna go look at animals.
this may be the ONLY indie game besides minecraft or DayZ that I buy because im bored and play it a year later. But they need to add a custom ship builder and home builder sorta like spore. This reminds me of a much better version of spore with a lot more freedom
COLTuber the scope is probably as big as minecraft because its procedurally generates and infinite universe. as what i can tell from the info, its an HD minecraft, with planets to explore aswell as destructable terran and smarter AI and more mobs...with dinos...sounds good to me!
in another intverview, one of the devs said that the scope of this game is enourmas as a procedurally generated game that it has en entire universe. now i know thats freaking crazy and seems impossible to me, but i would like to see that happen. the dev said that u could play for thousands of hours and never see everything or reach some sort of invisible wall. and even if there are thousands, millions, or even billions of people playing, meeting anothor player randomly would be a rare occurrence just because of the scope of the game. and if u want to meet up with a friend, that might take a while if u are light years away. now to me thats freaking crazy and ambitious but hopefully it works out
JZ7662 Looks like there is a autonomous algorithm code that is running this so called "randomly" crafted universe. I mean like a specific exchange of numbers and letters to a infinite combination of line of codes that always change in the same pattern. But the universe would still look very random builded for us because the code changing inside of maybe a line of 400 numbers and letters in every huge invisible cubed location of the universe. Think out 3 numbers and letters, for a example *8A2*. Then if the encryption code says +14 -23 +2 the numbers and letters will count +14 from *8* and end up to be a letter *J* instead of *8*, -23 would change the *A* to be a *P* instead and the +2 would change the number *2* easily explained to a number *4*... Now think if this would now generating inside of a code of 400 numbers and letters in total. This would now include many descriptions and specification about how the planets in the universe should look like in a specific coordination. But still there would be going on the same calculation in everybody's game...
JZ7662 Hopefully theres a ton of mobs and customization along with a ton of places to explore. Because as you know, minecraft had nothing when it came out, all it had were a few mobs and one biome...So hopefully we would get a fully fledged adventure with new monsters and worlds to see after 100 hours.
As a gamer of some two decades or more, I can honestly say I have never had such high hopes for a game. If this works as it should, even without a story, collectibles or multiplayer, it will be incredible. Good luck guys and sincere thanks for trying to advance gaming so significantly.
This is basically the coolest game concept in the world. As lo mg as the game isn't just observing and exploring and there is crafting, building, fighting, multiplayer, then this would be the best!
First thing I plan on doing is hitting my hyperdrive in a random direction. I REALLY cannot wait to play and explore this game. I am curious about the PS4 release date though. It better be soon. I do not know how long I can wait.
Politics, Sony paid for this to be shown only for their system which is why xbox wasn't mentioned. It will no doubt appear on all systems. The sad truth of gaming these days. I just hope it comes to PC so it can be played properly.
bowser515 Sony didn't pay jack shit to Hallo Games to only show the game on PS4. To be honest with you, the truth is that PS4 is the only platform that the game is actually very suitable to be developed for. Because Sony invested in PS4 by putting whole 8Gb of shared DDR5 memory on a custom chip card between both the GPU and CPU in PS4. So the memory usage in PS4 can actually be re-organized on the run and make it bring only 1Gb to graphics and 6Gb to procedural processing. All this within hyper-fast DDR5. But PS4 can also change the usage of memory very quickly between GPU and CPU depending on how much draw distance is lost and how much procedural processing has to be done in game, time to time. PS4 is just a dream to develop this new innovative games for, while Xbone is a fucking nightmare of old tech to develop this kind of new innovative games for. *DEAL WITH IT !!!*
Harry Halme, you're being quite ignorant right now by saying that PS4 is the only system suitable for this game because of the specs even though the developers made the game on a computer. So I would also have to say that a medium to high end computer could run this game very well, and both of the nextgen consoles are basically somewhere between a medium and high end computer. (As in high end computer I don't mean a 2,000 to 3,000 dollar computer.
I cannot express my excitement for this game. The concept of this game is so freaking awesome!! I will finally be able to do what I probably could never do in my life time. I can get into a starship and explore the galaxy as I please. I. Am. So. Freaking. EXCITED!!!!!
This looks really interesting,I'll be looking forward to seeing this one progress. Awesome job by the small development team. I hope he gets his wish to make this for PC, this title deserves it.
If no mans sky reaches it's ambition it will be a miracle. 4 guys making one of the biggest games ever. I assume that all the locations and it's creatures are randomly generated making it even more monstrous
"so we saw dinosaurs on this planet, will we ever encounter intelligent life?" "these creatures you see, they are intelligent." when you get slapped in the face your best answer would be: "yeah"
Sold! I can't wait to play this. Sony should give these guys any amount of $ to keep exclusivity. But on the other hand I hope everyone can experience this game
This looks incredible! This is what games should be like, truly amazing. And at 3:12 how were they allowed to do that? That ship/base whatever you call it IS the Tet from the movie Oblivion. Also the space ships, the freighters, the planets and the asteroid fields remind me a lot of the old Iridion game for the Game Boy, which was my single favorite GB game ever. I just wish this game was released for Xbox One. Almost enough to make me buy a PS4.
With the scope there talking that may not even be possible, when the developer says help us explore this randomly generated world u gotta think OK this is gonna be a massive game
Very interesting how they talk about whether or not the game will be on Xbox, mainly because he doesn't just say no when asked. Obviously at the Sony conference it said will debut on ps4, which means it will be coming to other platform eventually (probably PC) but they way he says "we not talking about that at the moment" seems like he might be under contract of some sorts with Sony to show the game off with them but not to talk about an Xbox version or other platforms in general at this time, I could be totally wrong obvs but the way he says it sounds like timed exclusive to me... or something like that.
I don't care if its on Xbox or not, I personally want to play it on PC. I just found it interesting, especially since on Hello Games website they still have it as "TBC" on what platforms its going on.
They said the closer to the center of the galaxy you get, the more dangerous it gets. It seems like survival and exploration. Collect resources, build and upgrade yourself, then go and find new planets no one has ever been to
I'm so pumped for this game. Right now the only I want to know is if I can fly a medium, or big ship. Not just the one-seat ships. I'm talking about ships that you can walk around in and live on.
Bakes Cakes why if u make a game on PlayStation or pc the developers can patch their games free anytime of the day... But ol Xbox charges the developers to patch their own games. So thats why small dev teams stay clear of xbox
I honestly love what I imagine this game to be. I hope there is no quick travel system and you can just fly for hours in space to new planets. I also like the idea that's it's nearly impossible to meet friends in game, I think it would be a fun objective to try and meet up with as many as people as possible
If this game doesn't come out on Xbox One........ I might just have to buy a PS4 or PC. This game looks amazing. Yknow, I should already own a PC or PS4 (mainly PC), but.... Money.
This is a very interesting project. I like what I'm hearing and seeing. I do see what people are worried about with the lack of objectives. However I think this game is made with such a completely different mindset than what gamers are used to now a days so it's a little hard to comprehend. The idea of playing a game where you set your own objectives is something that is new to a lot of people. I can understand the worry and I wont lie I would indeed feel better if I knew there was a rich back story and fiction to the universe. However if this game does achieve it's goals and come out I won't let that stop me from exploring it.
also, make it possible to give your own name to any planet, animal or place if you discover it first, probably with inbuilt language filter, so we wont be hunting penisaurs and vaginodons on every planet
I mean, it looks really interesting, but again, I don't see the over arching goal. I love sandbox games with no ending, don't get me wrong, but just what do you do? You collect ressources, sure? Resell or use them to upgrade your ship/suit/gun. I'd probably lose myself just observing animals and stuff, but can you do more beyond that?
Joel Guadarrama Really?I don't think they said anything about creating buildings & stuff like Minecraft. If we could, then that would make things a whole lot better.I could build a freaking space empire.
I think that it would be cool if you had to feed your character and build your space ship from scratch so you could really explore the planets and have more of a reason to visit them. Also i think you should be able to build things like houses and stuff
Wow incredible, my only gripe is that you feel more like a camera exploring the universe than an actual person by the looks of it, i hope thats remedied.
This looks freaking awesome, I am saddened because it is going to be released in 2015 because I have no patience but it helps make me feel better that it is getting ironed out.
This game has sooooo much possibilities, I do hope finding friends doesn't take decades to do lel, like maybe starting off with selected friends or a ton of people start off in a massive space station idk something like that :p
whoever says that this isn't coming to xbox one is definitely wrong. I mean he completely avoided the question entirely. but I'll be investing in ps4 because they're more likely to get it first.
They should make it to where you can buy a place by trading in resources, because sum people dont want to fly from place to place all the time If you were able to chill in one spot, mark your spot on the map as home, then go off and fly to somewhere else when you feel like it That would be really great
If you could have it somewhat like minecraft, such as being able to have a home and build on to it. It would be the best game; I would never stop play the game. Anyways i'm still going to buy it
I really hope they have a lot of lore surrounding this game, but I also wonder how you discover it. Will there be a journal of some kind that logs all of the lore you find, or will it just show you what you need to know in the beginning of the game? and since there's no questing, or NPC, how do you even find the information to make heads or tails about the history (if any) of the galaxy?
looking forward to this game, but its kind of a let down that there wouldn't be any humanoid aliens and no base making/crafting. But either way im still getting it along with Star Citizen
I'm wondering how you interact with other characters in this game. Like say, someone on a space station. I don't think we've seen inside a large ship or a space station yet. Can you walk around? Can you talk to people? If so I'd like to see how that aspect is. Also, I think there are gradients in-between totally open and a corridor shooter. Anyway, this is starting to look more interesting to me.
maybe add an adversarial mode, and other things so theres a point maybe an rpg element to it and maybe even a stealth suit element(so you can explore in peace)
How do procedurly generated creatures work? Does that mean there are an infinite number of different creatures in the game? Its beyond my comprehension, someone explain please?
Eh, why wouldn't the developer call this a sandbox game? Isn't it the very definition of a sandbox game; a game where you are just placed in a world [the sandbox] and can go and do whatever you like and when you try to do something it actually works within the context of the game? Basically; a virtual "sandbox". Did I miss something here?
I want to know if you can jump to lightspeed, like those frigates and cross vast parts of the universe quickly, that'd be sweet, maybe it'll be a ship upgrade.
This is mind blowing stuff =D One question i have though is how multiplayer works? I'm aware that everyones galaxy/universe is shared, same for everyone. But, is it going to actually be populated by other players on your game or is it more like the ghosts of other players are left behind? Basically to put it simply, will you physically encounter other players in your game world? There is probably no info on this anywhere, im just curious :)
This will surely come to PC. The devs would be shooting themselves in the feet otherwise. So many modders will have their eyes on it, anxiously waiting to make it the best version to own by far. I personally hope we can take chunks out of the terrain for use of crafting, not just destruction. And that we can create structures with a decorative emphasis in mind. I'm sure there must be a way to translate those minecraft-y features into a less cuboid-shaped world.
Can't believe only 4 dudes made this game. It looks beautiful.
Do you ever go outside?
PhilGerb93 I don't understand what you mean? Why are you asking her that question?
thedavidj1996 She comments on every single video.
PhilGerb93 why do you even care?
thedavidj1996 I think he's trying to point out that outside is beautiful too, but that obviously doesn't work here.
This game looks amazing, and I have a whole new respect for indies.
after the American revolutionary war, England had a whole new respect for indies.
me too. i always thought that indies are the games you just play in between the big releases. but this has me changing my mind.
teknokrat1 racist lol
RussianNuke8 umm. Countries are not races. Oh wait... You thought i meant indians??? Indies means independents. America is independent. Independence day? Ring a bell?

But seriously this looks great.
it's like they've got some kind of advanced fish AI
Fish have been swimming out of the way since at least Mario 64.
Chris Ward That's the joke I was aiming for but yeah
Fish swim out of the way in Super Mario 64, not amazing anymore.
Chris Ward He was referencing the fish AI for Call of Duty: Ghosts.

Game looks amazing fly from planet to planet seamlessly.. if thats all the game is then its already better than half the games out right now!
I'm so pumped for this game. Right now the only I want to know is if I can fly a medium, or big ship. Not just the one-seat ships. I'm talking about ships that you can walk around in and live on.
Can't believe this game is an Indie game, simply amazing and beautiful!
Poor xbones
It will come out on xbone.
Bakes Cakes why if u make a game on PlayStation or pc the developers can patch their games free anytime of the day... But ol Xbox charges the developers to patch their own games. So thats why small dev teams stay clear of xbox
Amen man.
amen
Wrong one crap
Poor XLAUNCHBOXes
Put base building with resources and multiplayer and I'm sold. This would be the perfect game for that.
also, make it possible to give your own name to any planet, animal or place if you discover it first, probably with inbuilt language filter, so we wont be hunting penisaurs and vaginodons on every planet
Only thing we can do now is hope. This game has potential to be as big as Mine craft man. In terms of an indie game level.
Wing men! Learn something new everyday.
i wonder for which consoles it will become available. or will it only be for pc?
I'm throwing money at the screen, but nothing is happening. SOMEONE HELP!!!
can you alternate between first and third person view? customization? Housing/civilization? Multiplayer?
This game has Uber potential. I'm really looking forward to it, on PC though
I really hope they put time and effect into the charecter building and upgrades and really go into detail on the weapons and the ship
Youll probably be able to make a home idk
That'd be sweet. I'd really like to be able to make a sort of civilisation or something... You can sorta see a big building in the thumbnail.
Space Dogfights?
Joel Guadarrama Really?I don't think they said anything about creating buildings & stuff like Minecraft.
If we could, then that would make things a whole lot better.I could build a freaking space empire.
looks awsome. i expect it to come out sometime later in 2015 like may or june
so from the looks of it, 2016 is the release date at best.....oh boy, the wait is gonna kill me...
This game looks amazing!!
The Star Trek/Firefly/Stargate sandbox minecraft game we all have been secretly wanting REJOICE MY BREATHEREN
This looks freaking awesome, I am saddened because it is going to be released in 2015 because I have no patience but it helps make me feel better that it is getting ironed out.
I'm really praying to the gaming gods that this game will be compatible with Project Morpheus. IMAGINE HOW AWESOME THAT'D BE! AHHHHH!
This is what i wanted Mass Effect to do,planet to planet exploration, finally someone got it right!
looks pretty and cool but I hope the gameplay is fun and gives you a reason to keep playing
I wonder what the price will be for this game. Even though indie games usually sell at around $20, I would gladly buy this game if it sold at $60.
They should make it to where you can buy a place by trading in resources, because sum people dont want to fly from place to place all the time
If you were able to chill in one spot, mark your spot on the map as home, then go off and fly to somewhere else when you feel like it
That would be really great
If you could have it somewhat like minecraft, such as being able to have a home and build on to it.
I've been waiting so long for a game like this. I'd much prefer this over Star Citizen.
I think this game looks really interesting. I bet this will be a day 1 buy for Colin Moriarty
looking forward to this game, but its kind of a let down that there wouldn't be any humanoid aliens and no base making/crafting. But either way im still getting it along with Star Citizen
Nice, been waiting for this :) Anbody know if this will work with project morpheus? That would be pretty cool.
That triangle thing at 2:52 looks like the alien ship from Oblivion
I'm wondering how you interact with other characters in this game. Like say, someone on a space station. I don't think we've seen inside a large ship or a space station yet. Can you walk around? Can you talk to people? If so I'd like to see how that aspect is.
Also, I think there are gradients in-between totally open and a corridor shooter.
Anyway, this is starting to look more interesting to me.
So there's no description of who you're attacking if it's an npc ship
maybe add an adversarial mode, and other things so theres a point maybe an rpg element to it and maybe even a stealth suit element(so you can explore in peace)
I hope your going to make it so you get to explore the whole planet aswell
How do procedurly generated creatures work? Does that mean there are an infinite number of different creatures in the game? Its beyond my comprehension, someone explain please?
I wish that there were some sort of utopian city hub that everyone derives from. I think that would really bring the whole game together.
This game combined with project morpheus! Would be orgasmic!
I hope that through all this it's still a real meaty game, not just a beautiful art piece.
Did I miss something here?
if you're supposed to travel from the outskirts of the galaxy to the center of it, they should have a giant utopia, that would be really cool
I want to know if you can jump to lightspeed, like those frigates and cross vast parts of the universe quickly, that'd be sweet, maybe it'll be a ship upgrade.
I've been watching a few interviews with Sean there, and he says that yes you can.
Yep.
Changing anything about the game and the code can break it extremely, modding probably wont happen.
