Not since computers in cars, but that's true of most cars. I remember my father's lawyer and wife had matching 12-cylinder Jags in the 80s. They were nice, very nice.
Honestly if they had made a really classy, edgy throwback car with beautiful detailing that was an homage to their old style but with modern edge I think people would eat it up. I literally stare at old classic cars and pine for the days of good design and beauty..
I had so many cars in the late 70s/80s. Nothing as expensive as a Jag, but Jeep, Triumph, Chevy, Olds, Honda. And I always made good deals. Wages were high, life was inexpensive. And cars were awesome. My cousin owned a raceway, and had a Belvedere GTX 426 Hemi. I loved cars. Now he collects Mercedes, but back in the day, had some amazing cars. Challenger, Stingray, '56 Ford, you name it. Ah, sorry for the trip down memory lane. Thanks for listening. x
Maybe they'll do something like the 'new' mini, fiat 500 and VW, reminiscent of the originals but more up-to-date? I doubt it though. Reliable and affordable may be a good starting point...
They did that in the 2010s, the F Type. It was pretty good and sold fairly well but it cost too much and they just never got the volume they needed. But it was pretty throwback, not quite blatantly retro but I thought it was well done. No idea what they are making these days, I stopped paying attention. Modern cars bore me.
Their new logo looks like something you’d see sewn onto the back pocket of a pair of sparkly jeans 👖 Very Juicy Couture-ish. It’s like they transitioned from car manufacturer to fashion house.
The best ad for me was in 2016 Jaguar driving with the SVR F Type through the famous tunnel in New York. The sound of that exhaust is what makes the brand so appealing
The company’s sales were at a “nothing left to lose point.” A friend had a Jag. It was junk. Made a Yugo look like a Rolls Royce. To shift it he had a screwdriver inserted in the gear selector. In a year some company making cars in a warehouse will buy the Jag name, just for the tools and machines.
Jags were never actually known for their reliability, status symbols only. One of my Docs back in the eighties drove a Jag. He did love his car but he had no reticence in admitting, if you want to drive a Jag you need two so that you’ll have something to drive when the other is in the shop.

for 1981
I havent seen a new Jag on the road here in central Illinois in maybe 5-10 years. Only ones I see these days are the old models. 95 and older…The brand is already in the dying phase. This just adds the nails to the coffin.
Was looking for this! It's a dead company anyway.
(But at least these nails are manicured 😂)
@@LeXofLeviafan😂😂😂
Jaguar used to be a car brand you would aspire to own, no more.
Absolutely embarrassing, what is Jaguar thinking
Oh, good. Now I don’t have to worry anymore how I can afford a Jaguar.
No wonder Jaguar is dying
I heard a grandmother interviewed today. She said she would support her five and six year old grandsons if they wanted to be castrated for a reassignment surgery. But when asked if she would support tattoos, she said, "no way that would be permanent,"
😂
That babylon bee short
😂😅🤣😅😂😅🤣
When i saw this "rebrand" yesterday i actually thought they were promoting a new Zoolander movie or Andy Warhol was trying to stage a comeback ( from beyond the grave ! ) .
Yeah I was definitely getting strong Mugatu’s ‘Derelicte’ vibes.
Yikes. Another bye bye woke broke 👋👋
This ad looks like something out of a dystopian series.
The funniest part of this is that the marketing team apparently is pushing an idea that is 100% antithetical to what the brands message has always been. They’re talking about inclusivity, but Jaguar is all about exclusivity. It’s about how not everyone can have one. Only those who have a lot of money and success can get them. It’s a status symbol. But no, they want to include everyone. Well then, congratulations. You just turned a Jaguar into a $60,000 Toyota Corolla. Good luck selling that.
Stupid is as stupid does .
"We have the most diverse assembly line workers. They might not know how to put a car together but they are diverse."
Just so yall know slavery in africa did not mirror slavery in America. In Africa, slaves ( normally from conquered tribes) were held within one generation, then absorbed by the tribe. Islamic practices made africas slave trade more morally guided. They were not stuck in racial hierarchy based chattel slavery which was the forever plan colonizrs enforced in the new world. It's was more like indentured servitude in africa.
2:21 "DUDE WHERE'S MY CAR?!"
Dude, where is your car?!
The comment we didn’t know we needed 😅
@@garrettbot143 Dude it's not funny dude, the car is gone!
Lol
😂😂😂
Bud Light destroyed its brand, but then Jaguar said, "Hold your beer."
I wonder who’s their target shopper. They must be very wealthy and very weird.
half expecting Zoolander to pop out and scream DERELIQUE!! 😂
I was just about to comment on Zoolander vibes!😂😂😂
at this point theres NO WAY that they really think its a good move...now why they are destroying every brand on purpose is another question
Even with the logo without your explanation if I saw that commercial I would have thought it was for a brand of paint, not the car company.....
Giving me valspar vibes.
It looks like a Sephora commercial 😅
My neighbor has a vintage Jaguar sports car . He’s a big bloke , a Harley Davison guy too. I was going to ask him , after watching JaGuar add if he was gay . Undecided .
Nothing says business speech like a sparkly mesh top
They could have at least put a real jaguar in the commercial. Get one that identifies as a tiger.
Great idea!!!
😅
it's so messed up. they keep trying to force something that isn't real to be made real. it's really crazy...
This is soooo 2016 😅 continually people are moving more and more conservative.
What would have been “revolutionary” would be to release their original car bodies with modern engines.
Car people would have went crazy for that. The alphabet people don’t care about vehicles…
spot on, mate. Picture an e-type, purring with 2020's tech. mmmmm!
THAT is not "exuberant"!! 🤦♀️
And "androgynous" is just a fancy way to explain BORING!! Let's have EVERYBODY look/act the same, Orwell's "1984" society!!😱
I don't think these things would be accepted by 1984's society.
DEI is the reason why our military is 10 years behind schedule for the production of certain ships that we need in our fleet.
DEI in our American ship yards? I highly doubt it. Trust me, it's heavy work, and if you physically cannot do the job, there's no hiding that. Your ass is out. And besides that, all those are union trades building ships. The union hall is the last place on earth where DEI would even enter the chat. The union hall employs men and women who have proven their mettle. No ifs and or buts about it. The Alphabet people need not apply.
You don't need ships. You need women in leading positions and diversity... And safe enviroments... And kindness and tollerance. And if you are against it, you must be Evil Queen.... Too soon?
This is sad and stupid. The logo is iconic. I grew up with an old Jaguar loving Dad. Dad must be rolling over in his grave.
Sad.. it went downhill when FORD purchased the company in the 90s then Tata Motor company in India took it over 2008... the headquarters are in England, so with the way its changed over there, Im not surprised with this new look, logo and non legacy👩🏻💻👎🏻
I imagine that when the ad agency presented the commercial to the execs, it was a The Emperor Has No Clothes moment, where nobody wanted to say that the ad sucked for fear of going against wokeness.
Amala you make me laugh. Great descriptions, evaluation of commercial.
The subject doesn't even screams "car" in any point
4:28 "We've established over 15 DEI groups." 🤯
These people never cease to surprise me. 🤣
If I was there the only question I'd ask is "how does this enhance your product...you know the CAR?!!!
Jaguar hasn’t made a worthwhile car in decades. They’re probably doing this for the attention, you know any attention is better than none.
This wreaks of a last gasp by a dead brand 🤔
I hear this often, but it just isn't true. We've seen with Bud Light that negative attention is negative. Period. You can't walk around in public and scream around, and hope to get friends or whatever :D You need to associate the attention with something positive.
Literally decades😂😂😂
I had a 2014 Jaguar XJR and can assure you it was wayyyy nicer than whatever you are driving
Not since computers in cars, but that's true of most cars. I remember my father's lawyer and wife had matching 12-cylinder Jags in the 80s. They were nice, very nice.
Thats such a shame the jaguar was such a classy car to own amd now.. This 😢😢
What held Jaguar back was their engineering, reliability and cost. This doubles down on this direction.
At least have them sitting on a car.
Maybe they didn’t really want that image stuck in peoples heads when they back off this dumb idea.
I thought the same.
It’s supposed to look like the floor of a Jaguar after the driver ate a pack of Starbursts. I think…
Would you let those weirdos touch the leather of your car? Would you? I thought so :D
Do you mean all of them or just one of them?
Sometimes I watch a commercial and I have no idea what the product is. This is one of those ads.
If you want a car that is functional get a Toyota or Lexus. Most reliable cars. Jaguar was always about being an expensive car to "show off".
@@jill7759 I just did a bit of research, and never realized that. They had Lucas headlamps system... hahaha, okay I get it. Had a TR7 back in the day, so I've been there, done that. It was a trip. Thanks, TIL. ;)
Back in the day there was an old joke about the "official Jaguar bumper sticker". It said: "All parts falling off of this car are guaranteed to be of the finest British craftsmanship ". 😂
Damn, I'm not a car person at all, but that's sad. They may never have been known for their mechanic or driving quality, but they were elegant specimens, and classy enough that when I was a kid I wanted to drive a Jaguar when I grew up 😅
It gives Chris Tucker from 5th Element
My thoughts exactly! 😁
can we stop with these nonsense "it gives/it's giving " statements? ... you're part of the problem
Super green!
@@iLLustrious85I take it sarcasm is not your strong suit. Maybe you’re part of the problem. It was in the video, I used it, fellow “old.”
When Jaguar becomes DRAGuar. 🤦🏽♂️
Did anyone in the commercial look like they worked in an auto plant?
They are going to regret it 🤷🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️🤣
Given Jaguars current balance sheet they should be very careful of their DEI agenda.
That press conference was an attempt at a record in saying inclusive the most amount of times in 5 minutes or less
They should support their employees by trying to sell cars.
"What in the androgeny" killed me 😂😂😂😂
I'm sure the only thing they've revolutionized is how unreliable a car can be.
Save the little kids ❤
AMALA, I AM A CONSUMER RESEARCHER. THIS WASN'T TESTED, EVEN IN A FOCUS GROUP!
Jaguar going for the balenciaga look
Rather an unfortunate choice given Balenciaga are linked to PDF iles.
“Olympic Opening “ vibes……
I legit thought it was a clothing brand. "Wooow! Jaguar now also sells clothes?"
Jaguar has lost track of its demographic. Also, this commercial is not diverse or inclusive at all. It only shows one type of person. EPIC FAIL.
