Ronnie Hammond, lead singer graduated from my High School. His brother was my Next-door neighbor at my first apartment and I worked with Ronnie’s wife. Plus loved their music. Especially Ronnie’s voice.
This band has many hidden gems Once you get past So Into You and Imaginary Lover, that everyone wants you to react to, you will find a treasure trove of very good music.
I grew up with the Atlanta Rhythm Section. Was lucky to see them live several times. One of their best songs is “Doraville”, the place I first lived in GA.
Small world they use to practice in the neighborhood of oak cliff subdivision which was behind the street I lived on Johnson Dr you could here them from our back yard. Never got to see them live but it didn’t matter, I could hear them almost every week.
So glad you guys liked this group. The late 70's & early 80's were the heyday for blue-eyed soul. This group, along with Ambrosia, Hall & Oates, Player, Boz Skaggs and The Doobie Brothers/Michael McDonald, all had several hits in the genre.
ARS is a great Southern Rock band. A little more mellow than some. The Ballad of Lois Malone, Champagne Jam, I'm Not Gonna Let It Bother Me Tonight, etc. All worthy of your time.
The smoothest Southern Rock band in my opinion. Like bands at the time, Dr. Hook, Pablo Cruise, Player, Exile, and others they had the ability to crossover and appeal to audiences they or their label may not have realized they could reach.
I’m so glad y’all finally got around to this group. I took a girl to an Atlanta Rhythm Section new years eve concert on Dec. 31, 1977. We are still into each other… 46 yrs later! Good vibes…great band!
Two of their members came from 1960's group "Classics IV". As some have mentioned, ARS have redone Classics IV hit "Spooky". That definitely deserves a good listen! Thanks Guys!
OMG, I didn't realize two of their members came from the Classics IV! My husband and I are musicians and we play "Spooky" -- originally learned it for Halloween, then decided it was too good for one holiday!
Nice reaction guys... you will enjoy their hit entitled "Spooky"... there is a groovy feel to the song that is "mysterious" and feel-good-addictive!!! Enjoy🎺🎺🎼🎼 You Might also try Fleetwood Mac - Hypnotized... and Sugarloaf - Green Eyed Lady.
I was a stagehand in the 70's and this was the album that was used for setting up the sound board during that era by many. Rich, thick, variable, rhythms with just a little spicy lead guitar.
This is such an amazing song. It was all over the radio back in the day. I am so glad you guys finally did some ARS. Neon Nights, Imaginary Lover and Champagne Jam are three more of their songs. I think you guys will really enjoy.
Barry Bailey on the solo at the end - maybe one of the most unknown and under-appreciated great guitarists. Thanks so much Jay and Amber for getting into ARS. I'd love to see you do reactions to "Free Spirit", "Indigo Passion" and "While Time Is Left" - none of them often given much exposure like their hits, but they're all great compositions.
I saw them in the late 70's when they opened for Charlie Daniels. I was in high school at the time and other than The Midnight Special you didn't get many chances to see a band live outside of a concert. It was always a thrill to finally see a band live who's albums and/or 8 tracks you had practically worn out.
Guys I can't tell you how happy I am y'all got around to this group. They gave a lot of great songs. Some of my fellow listeners gave already mentioned. I hope you two take deep trip down this rabbit hole.
I have been waiting for you to react to this group,! Absolutely love them. They are so smooth!!!!!! Imaginary Lover , Champagne Jam, and I'm Not Gonna Let it Bother Me Tonight are a must!!! Many days I'll listen to their greatest hits album at work. Perfection!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
HEY guys this was their first chart single reached number 5 on Billboard pop singles chart in 1977 their other top ten song is called Imaginary lover In 1978 they had 3 other top 20 singles in later years groups that are similar to them are Climax Blues Band and Pablo cruise keep up the good work guys
I was born in Atlanta in the 70’s and my parents were so into this band. My father was also apart of a recording band in ATL called Cotton, during this time and opening up for lots of 70’s funky type recording artists during this time. He was actually opening up for Fats Domino the night I was born. But my parents LOVED Atlanta Rhythm Section the most. I probably heard them when I was in the womb. Also, Allman Brothers. I know they saw them when I was in the womb. These two bands were the favorites in ATL back on the day.
I have been recommending this smooth ARS classic for almost a year. I knew you both would thoroughly enjoy. Now to check out Imaginary Lover, Spooky, Champagne Jam and Georgia Rhythm just to name a few.
Wife here..One of my FAVORITE songs of all time..,I've heard this song classified as "Urban Night Sound" also "Blue Eyed Soul.."Very prevalent mid to late 70's and early 80's...I Adore this sound!!!
Greetings Jay and Amber! Thank you for the way you do what you do! To be able to watch and then re-feal how it was the first time is freakin heart warming]! Next time you're into hearing ARS, try "Champagne Jam"! All the best!'...always! Jon M.
I’m from Atlanta, so I grew up listening to these guys! Have seen them a few times! They were at every music festival I went to as a young girl. The main festival was called The Champagne Jam, which is where they recorded their live album. Thanks for reacting to this amazing song and group!
Just saw ARS in Wausau, Wisconsin two weeks ago. Sadly, only one surviving member but they sounded great! Love Champagne Jam, Spooky, Imaginary Lover, and I’m Not Gonna Let It Bother Me Tonight. Great bluesy, southern rock jam band!
And we lost that last surviving member, Dean Daughtry just recently. He wanted to hit the 50 yr mark with ARS, but made it to 49 & retired due to health issues.
The first live concert I attended was ARS opening for Lynyrd Skynyrd in Miami back in 1976. I was so blown away by the experience I went on to attend well over 100 more. Concerts in the 70s and 80s were epic and so was the music!
You two are the genuine article of reactions. You both get wrapped up in the music and let your emotions flow freely. I think you'll like and enjoy the majority of Atlanta Rhythm Section's tunes. Great job, thanks.
I'm glad you guys are finally getting to ARS, and hope you continue the journey. Everybody is going to suggest that you do "Spooky" or "Imaginary Lover". But I would suggest that you do their classic gems; "Doraville", "Jesus Hearted People", "Boogie Schmoogie", "Cuban Crisis", "Champaign Jam"... Just listen to all of them.
Love this amazing group, ur going to love them. So many great ones, "Spooky", "Champagne Jam", "Imaginary Lover", etc. Thanx for for the awesome memories. Stay groovy, Peace
Loved the way Jay was looking at Amber when she was describing how this song makes her feel. The next song you should react to is Spooky. Another really good “put you in the mood” song is Careless Whisper by George Michaels. The sax in that song is both really cool and beautiful. I know you’d enjoy it. ✌️❤️
Such lovely nostalgia when I hear ARS! This song is such a vibe, even at 60 now I still want to just groove to it ha. Lotsa memories of my younger years in this song for sure.
Y’all FINALLY Did some ARS!!!! Not just homeboys, but friends. I was buds with the original crew, serving them Tex-Mex in the 80’s, to jamming with the current lineup with local folks.
One of my favorite southern rock bands. They are not your typical s r band they incorporate elements of jazz, progressive, and a little country into their music. They were huge in the late 70s and early 80s. They used to hold a music festival every July in Atlanta. It was called 'Champagne Jam'. A lot of different bands would appear every year. It was a big party in the ATL. Songs you should check out are: Spooky(a great cover of the 60s song), Champagne Jam, Not Gonna Let It Bother Me Tonight, Doraville(my personal favorite), and many others. These guys were excellent musicians. A lot of them are gone now. I guess the curse of southern rock. Dig deeper into this band. You will not be disappointed.
I never get third of this song! It is my favourite of all their hits and by far their most widely known hit. A mega hit Soft Rock single by this Southern Rock band.
Great reaction to another stone cold classic. This song always haunted me and captured me on first listening. This was kind of how I felt about my first girlfriend. And I remember dancing with her to this song.
Yes! About to listen! This is myself and my guys song when we met about 28 years ago. We’d play it over and over. Alone, during parties at his place- It was a classic even back then, but was just too perfect. When you both KNOW..but are still gazing across at one another- Ahhhh, those early years, definitely 🔥🔥🔥😍 Y’all should definitely check out their song “Imaginary Lover!”
All these songs you guys been reacting to reminds of my school bus rides, the bus driver played nothing but 70’s….and all of us kids were digging his vibes. 🔥👍🏼
I remember it like it was yesterday Year 1977, age 14, location in my brothers car, in the mall arcades, on the radio everywhere, result Life Is Good😎☺ ARS was everywhere in the mid-late 70's and the funny thing is because the 70 and 80s were so original and fantastically flooded with awesome music this was the kind of unique sound and high-quality music we expected to come out new every week or month on thet radiobut now sadly we realize like with all Greatness it was only for a short while. I have been waiting for you to get to this one for quite awhile. Thanks
LOL. It’s not Atlantic Rhythm Section. It’s the Atlanta Rhythm Section or as we all called them, ARS. My mom & stepdad lived in the same apartment complex as them in the 70’s. Check out their song Doraville. It’s one of the cities in metro Atlanta where the lived.
This is one of those songs that takes me back to a very specific moment in time -- on the bus going back home after a class trip to NYC. It was in such heavy rotation we must have heard it a dozen times. I went out and bought the 45 as soon as I could.
Will never forget seeing them live close to 45 years ago. It was in 1978, the initial Champaign jam at the then Grant Field in downtown Atlanta. It was just after they released the album of the same name. Bought two $13.50 general admission tickets. It was our second date with my now wife of 43 years. A.R.S. as they were referred to, was the headline band along with The Doobie Brothers, Santana, Mothers Finest, Mose Jones and Eddie Money. I remember it was a hot day in early September. We sat in the grass in the field on a blanket, when we were not standing. Little did we realize at the time that most of those bands would be legendary. Probably the best concert we ever attended.
Always loved this song! Here's a few more gems from Atlanta Rhythm Section you need to check out: Spooky, Imaginary Lover, Champagne Jam, Do It Or Die, I'm Not Gonna Let It Bother Me Tonight
Lots of awesome music from this group. Composed of studio musicians for Studio One recording studio in Doraville, Ga. They formed their own band and put out several albums. Some great songs, Champagne Jam, Doraville, Sky High, Large Time, Imaginary Lover, many others.
Jay & Amber, you'll love their "Imaginary Lover" and "Spooky" !!
I’ve suggest that before
I third these suggestions!
Yes I also suggest Imaginary Lover satisfaction is guaranteed!
And "Alien"! That is a fantastic track!
It may be sacrilege butI think The Dusty Springfield cover of “Spooky” is better, imho.
Ronnie Hammond, lead singer graduated from my High School. His brother was my Next-door neighbor at my first apartment and I worked with Ronnie’s wife. Plus loved their music. Especially Ronnie’s voice.
You know this is when the greatest music was made
ARS has on my play list for over 40 years, Southern Rhythm and Blues.
One of the things I love about this channel: I get to rediscover music I love and have not heard in so many years
I was just thinking that there was so much music from that time that we just took for granted; now we can appreciate it more.
I'm filling up my music on my phone that's for sure!
Great😊
This band has many hidden gems
Once you get past So Into You and Imaginary Lover, that everyone wants you to react to, you will find a treasure trove of very good music.
I grew up with the Atlanta Rhythm Section. Was lucky to see them live several times. One of their best songs is “Doraville”, the place I first lived in GA.
Yep. Me too. Many southern artist played at Alex Cooley’s Electric Ballroom including my uncles band Mose Jones.
Small world they use to practice in the neighborhood of oak cliff subdivision which was behind the street I lived on Johnson Dr you could here them from our back yard. Never got to see them live but it didn’t matter, I could hear them almost every week.
@@causticchameleon7861 Very cool. Saw ARS at Champaign Jam and The Fox and The Omni!
@@mitziesanders9840 I so wanted to go to Champagne Jam but dad didn’t allow me even though I had several friends going.
@@causticchameleon7861 I was enrolled at Kennesaw College at the time. You must of been younger. I wish we could have met at the time!
So glad you guys liked this group. The late 70's & early 80's were the heyday for blue-eyed soul. This group, along with Ambrosia, Hall & Oates, Player, Boz Skaggs and The Doobie Brothers/Michael McDonald, all had several hits in the genre.

Before this they were not a mellow band! Check out the hard rocking red tape album
These are all great songs!!!
All good calls.
OMG, I didn’t know they did Champagne Jam!
I’m time warping back to my ‘73 Caprice, 8-tracking down the road. Thanks for the memories.
I’m so glad y’all finally got around to this group. I took a girl to an Atlanta Rhythm Section new years eve concert on Dec. 31, 1977. We are still into each other… 46 yrs later! Good vibes…great band!
You could play the entire "Rock and Roll Alternative " or " Champagne Jam" albums. Both are fantastic from start to finish!
Yep!
Champagne Jam is a great song too!!
Imaginary Lover is another great song by ARS.
Two of their members came from 1960's group "Classics IV". As some have mentioned, ARS have redone Classics IV hit "Spooky". That definitely deserves a good listen! Thanks Guys!
nice catch bob, few know that fact.
OMG, I didn't realize two of their members came from the Classics IV! My husband and I are musicians and we play "Spooky" -- originally learned it for Halloween, then decided it was too good for one holiday!
@@alleykeosheyan4779
Just one question....did he propose on Halloween?
🎃🤣....Thanks for your comment!
Yep and before that, they were The Candymen, which was Roy Orbison’s touring band. Dean, Rodney and Robert were founding members of ARS.
Their song - another man’s woman - rocks!!!!!
ARS as a group have never gotten the credit they deserve. They remain a vastly underrated band. Happy to see you reacting to one of their best songs!
Finally!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Finally, Finally, I fought for this group for months, It finally caught your eye.......They're sooooo good!
This song is in heavy rotation on my playlist for a reason. I just love the groove.
Nice reaction guys... you will enjoy their hit entitled "Spooky"... there is a groovy feel to the song that is "mysterious" and feel-good-addictive!!! Enjoy🎺🎺🎼🎼
You Might also try Fleetwood Mac - Hypnotized... and Sugarloaf - Green Eyed Lady.
Yeah gotta do Hypnotized by Fleetwood Mac! It does fit into his kind of mysterious groove you get from So Into You. Good comparison!
As I recall Spooky was a Classics IV hit in the 60's. Members of that group morphed into ARS later on. Great song either way.
Yes, Green Eyed Lady,, the long version.
yep yep!!
OH YESSSSSSSSSS! Fleetwood Mac "Hypnotized" for sure! They just did Sugarloaf "Green Eyed Lady!"
I was a stagehand in the 70's and this was the album that was used for setting up the sound board during that era by many. Rich, thick, variable, rhythms with just a little spicy lead guitar.
Check out Atlanta Rhythm Section's version of "SPOOKY"
I used to work at a small company in thr early 2000s with the bassist, Paul Goddard. A wonderful man and an amazing bassist! RIP Paul.
ABC School Supply?
Not that one, but related to it.
I like it! Because you react to songs like this one is why “I’m so into Rob Squad”.
One of my all time favorite songs!!! Happy you’re experiencing it🙌🏼✨👸🏻💗
This is such an amazing song. It was all over the radio back in the day. I am so glad you guys finally did some ARS. Neon Nights, Imaginary Lover and Champagne Jam are three more of their songs. I think you guys will really enjoy.

I haven’t heard this in forever! Great song 🎉 Thanks
Saw Them at the Whiskey-A-Go-Go, and they were great! "Imaginary Lover" and " Champagne Jam" a must-hear.
Knew y'all would like this one, as soon as I saw the title! Lol. Love this song. Thank you both!
I saw them in the late 70's when they opened for Charlie Daniels. I was in high school at the time and other than The Midnight Special you didn't get many chances to see a band live outside of a concert. It was always a thrill to finally see a band live who's albums and/or 8 tracks you had practically worn out.
If you hit them again “I’M NOT GONNA LET IT BOTHER ME TONIGHT” or perhaps “DO IT OR DIE” Both are absolute GEMS!!
They gotta check out “Imaginary Lover” and “Spooky” as well..
Do it or die is a damn good choice takes me back to my teenage years in the 70s
this song topped the charts at no. 7 also imaginary lover from the same album hit no. 7
ARS is a great southern band very under-rated they have a string of hits try Spooky next
Love y'all's reactions
Popped up on my notifications! Commenting before I listen BECAUSE this is my FAVORITE SONG!!! Yes!!!!
A.R.S. was always way underrated - awesome musicians !

They’re from my neck of the woods. Love this band!
ARS was my first concert! 1979 Barnhill Arena, Fayetteville, Arkansas. I also had their Champagne Jam album. Great stuff!
Yes! Yes! Imaginary Lover!! I get lost in that song every single time I listen to it! Just love it!!

I saw these fellows, Blackfoot, and ZZ Top on tour together while this tune was new and hadn’t hit quite yet. Excellent show!
Jay an Amber you keep digging into the 70’s music, great job!👏👏 It wasn’t called the Super 70’s for no reason. Keep it coming!!!
Everyone sleeps on ARS. They have so many great songs! Neon Nights would be a good one to check out.

This song is an absolute banger. I haven’t seen your reaction yet, but I’m almost certain you will love it.
You must do '' Spooky '' by them its groovy ❤
Yes I was in love with this song I jammed along with them.

Greatness!!! I'm Incredibly Grateful To Have Known This Powerful Super Group For Decades 🕶️🎧
Those guys helped Lynyrd Skynyrd cut their first album in 1973🎸
Back Up Against The Wall, Georgia Rhythm, Spooky all worthy of checking out.
You two are the genuine article of reactions. You both get wrapped up in the music and let your emotions flow freely. I think you'll like and enjoy the majority of Atlanta Rhythm Section's tunes. Great job, thanks.
One of my favorite old soulful tunes from back in the day. You don't hear this one very much.
ARS .. Southern Fried Rock .. They had quite a few songs played on FM radio back in the 70’s and Early 80’s ..
Homesick & Georgia Rhythm
"Silent Treatment", "Another Man's Woman", "Angel", "It Just Ain't Your Moon"... the list can go on forever.
I love to watch them play live ❤ the singer is dressed in a white tux ❤🎉😅
Love this amazing group, ur going to love them. So many great ones, "Spooky", "Champagne Jam", "Imaginary Lover", etc. Thanx for for the awesome memories. Stay groovy, Peace

holy cow this song brings back so many memories .
Oh wow....👏👏👏 you've arrived at ARS. I saw them multiple times back in the day, their live performances are so good. Fantastic musicians.
Their song "Imaginary Lover" is good. And as a bonus, if you play the LP on 45rpm it sounds like Fleetwood Mac!
Yes! About to listen! This is myself and my guys song when we met about 28 years ago. We’d play it over and over. Hell yes! Glad yall found ARS. Big catalog of songs to dive into. If you can sit still to So into You, you ain't got a soul 😀
Barry Bailey was the lead guitarist for ARS. The live version of this song from the "Are You Ready" album has an incredible solo by him near the end.
Absolutely!
I love watching you two react to some of my favorite songs. ARS is IMHO a criminally underrated band

So glad you got to these guys! Great music!!! Always have the best groove!
I say so often - I will forever be grateful to have grown up in the 70’s. What a treasure trove of sounds we got to enjoy!
Love LOVe this song!!!! Love this band!!! Very talented!!! I like their southern R & B sound and style!!!
Wow, takes me back to my second boyfriend! Memories! Glad you liked it. "Champagne Jam", "Imaginary Lover", and "Spooky" are also fantastic!
I second the "SPOOKY" suggestion. This song is great and I also could have used more of the guitar at the end.
Always loved this song! Here's a few more gems from Atlanta Rhythm Section you need to check out: Spooky, Imaginary Lover, Champagne Jam, Do It Or Die, I'm Not Gonna Let It Bother Me Tonight
This song is SMOLDERING.
Lots of awesome music from this group. Composed of studio musicians for Studio One recording studio in Doraville, Ga. They formed their own band and put out several albums. Some great songs, Champagne Jam, Doraville, Sky High, Large Time, Imaginary Lover, many others.
2:22, i could listen to this part a million times such an amazing song
