Yes, definitely. I was a kid when this came out. I heard this song on Rock radio. Strangely, lived around the corner from a Black radio station. I asked a DJ if they had this song. He initially said no, but they actually did. The label sent it in a plain white sleeve and white label. I told him to check it out and play it. He did, and locally it became very popular on Black radio. The same would happen with Pablo Cruise "Whatcha Gonna Do?" Great music knows no boundaries!!

Shawn, it's so sweet that you find this song is one you would sing to Mel. You will find a lot of the older music speaks volumes as if you wrote it yourself. I know a lot of songs have lyrics that I relate to, would say to someone, etc.... to the point I have sent songs to people to say what I want to say quite a few times in my life.

This song always gives me goose bumps,it was written by Robert Nix(the drummer for ARS)about Leslie Hawkins. She was one of the Honkettes,a trio of women who sang
for Lynyrd Skynyrd.Nix saw her for the first time just as the song describes and instantly fell in love with Hawkins, who was stunningly beautiful and remains so till this day, well into her 70's.
