Quite a few artists have recorded this song "Spooky". It started out as just an instrumental song in 1967 & lyrics were added later. Atlantic Rhythm Section do a good version of the song in 1979 but the most famous & best version was done by the Classics IV in 1968.
I love the original, and the remake by ARS- which I grew up on! Interesting note- the Classics IV, started in Jacksonville, Florida, and moved to Atlanta, Georgia- because of management- and most of the members, became a part of ARS☺
This is the music we listen too back in the 70’s. Damn we were really lucky to grow up with all these classics and I get such a rush watching all the reactions to our music!
I WAS THERE!!!! This was Champagne Jam '79 in Atlanta at Grant Field {Georgia Tech stadium}, the Cars & Aerosmith were there as well & a couple of other bands! ARS is one of my favorite hometown bands along with The Allman Bros, Black Crowes, Jackyl, Drivin n Cryin, B52s, Georgia Satellites, Blackberry Smoke & REM! PEACE LOVE n HIPPYNESS ✌☮
Thanks for doing this. ARS not getting much love lately, but I knew eventually someone would get to them. BTW.... members were formerly the Classics IV. Barry, king of the guitar squall.
neither did the legendary Buddy Buie and all the other Alabama boys in the band. With the exception of Dean Daughtery, and Barry Baily, they are all gone now.
Mel, don't be sorry for how you feel. Music is made for you to feel something, to move you. Enjoy it. Don't ever be sorry for how you feel. It's part of who you are and you shouldn't apologize for who you are.
Love love love!! Please go to Classics IV now and hear Stormy. Their version of Spooky (the original) is great. I think some of the guys in Classics IV went on to be in Atlanta Rhythm Section -the same guy sings both.
I was so damn lucky I'm from Macon, GA. I saw the best of the best... Allman Bros., Wet Willie, Atlanta Rhythm Session, Marshall Tucker Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Aerosmith, Jimmy Buffett, the Doobie Bros., Joe Cocker, Eric Clapton....
MEL YOU DO YOU, I LOVE YOUR REACTIONS I HAVE SHARED YOUR REACTIONS TO MANY ¹PEOPLE. YOU have made me smile and feel your air drums over and over 😃.Both of you love music and it shows we want too enjoy your sometime shock and amazed responses. You are my favorite reactors. GBY❣
FINALLY ARS IS RECOGNIZED!! Only 2 of the guys are still with us. The great guitarist Barry Baily and Keyboard wiz, dean Daugherty! At least half of the Atlanta Rhythm Section was from Alabama. For a small state, Alabama has put out a ton of great music of all genres over the decades! I think a R&B musician came out with this first but ARS revved it up.
This a great cover. One of my favorite ARS songs. They used to sponsor a music festival in Atlanta every summer. Great guitar solo. Check out 'Doraville', 'Champagne Jam' and 'Not Gonna Let It Bother Me Tonight'. They eete a great smooth southern rock band. Always loved their music.
Great cover of the Classics IV hit. Love the solos. this song has so much free-flowing rhythm in it that it makes you sad when the run on the different solos stop. Great vocal, guitar and keys and a reaction that was over the top!
I've been trying so hard to turn reactors on to this awesome band...they are SO underrated! I've been listening to them since I was a teen...one of my all time favs! RIP sweet Ronnie (Hammond)!
Doraville, Georgia Rhythm, Champagne Jam, Silver Eagle, I'm not gonna let it bother me tonight, The Ballad of Lois Malone, Evileen, Imaginary Lover, Jukin', Dog Days, All night Rain, Angel, Crazy, Free Spirit, Large Time are all great songs
A.R.S. was another one of those criminally underrated bands ; think of Little Feat, James Gang, Free, J. Geils Band, the list goes on. This was almost a cover of their own song as the group Classics IV from about 1967. There were, I believe, a couple members from Classics IV who went on to form Atlanta Rhythm Section. Great stuff.
Thanks Shawn and Mel for recognizing Barry Bailey's skills on guitar. He's never mentioned among the greats, but he rocks - great tone, phrasing, and passion. Like Shawn said, he makes the guitar sing.
You need to listen to do it or die by Atlantic Rhythm Section it was one of my favorite song When I was a teenager back in 1978 or 79 I hope Miss Mel will listen to the song
Ah yess! ARS rocks! I’m pretty positive y’all did “So into you!” Its myself and my guys song -been together 26 years- soon as we saw one another- perfect song we played over and over-please react to their song “Imaginary Lover” as well- it’s got that groovin vibe- 💖💙👍✌️
I’m new to you and I’m loving all your music selections! This is a remake of the original group the Classics IV. This is great but please check out the original, you won’t be disappointed, promise!
One of my favorite bands. They have had a few different lead.singers over the years. Ronnie Hammond is the lead singer you’ll hear on the hit songs. His voice was incredible. The other lead singers, not so much.
Atlanta Rhythm Section had one of the most grooviest sounds of the 70's
Imaginary Lover is another great song by the Atlanta Rhythm Section.
Ambrosia, 10CC, Atlantic Rhythm Section, Little River Band and others was the best memories for me growing up in the 70s. Great Reaction!
“So into you” is another good one from them.

Agree with many commented here the best version is by the Classics 4, in 68. Dennis Yost voice is soulful, great vibe 😀
I'm familiar with this version and David Sandorn.
I'd have to agree
I just found out that two members (original) were from The Classic IV
unless you like ROCK MUSSIC WHICH IS WHAT PROPELLED THE SONG TO GREATNESS IN THE 70S!
Dude, you completely nailed it on Barry's second guitar solo. He just drills down into your soul and takes you for a ride.
This is a cover for this song made in 1968 I believe by the Classics IV. Great song and ARS does a great job!
ARS started out as Classics IV
I love the original, and the remake by ARS- which I grew up on! Interesting note- the Classics IV, started in Jacksonville, Florida, and moved to Atlanta, Georgia- because of management- and most of the members, became a part of ARS☺
@@lloydanderson1486 Didn't know that! Thanks for the info!!
love both versions...both great
ARS is a treasure trove. Please keep exploring their music!! 💜💚💛✌️
Another great song with this tone is “Season of The Witch” by Donovan
One of my favorite singers! A Donovan rabbit hole would be great! Hurdy Gurdy Man is fantastic. ☮💜
Have to agree with Donovan, Season of the Witch or Hurdy Gurdy Man!!!!
Love, love, love Donovan ! I’ve loved him since I was a teen 💜☮️🎶😻
"Imaginary Lover" is another good song from ARS I think you'll like.
Seen them in 1978 at Ferris State..I was 12. I didn't know who I was seeing. Never forget that!!!
This is the music we listen too back in the 70’s. Damn we were really lucky to grow up with all these classics and I get such a rush watching all the reactions to our music!
I can see you guys getting hopelessly addicted to the oldies. It's a thing of beauty!!!! ❤
We always play this @ our Halloween party every year ! Along with Witchy Women & Monster Mash ! It’s tradition already. 😏🎃👍🤙
ARS - So Into You...was one of my favorites by them.
I WAS THERE!!!! This was Champagne Jam '79 in Atlanta at Grant Field {Georgia Tech stadium}, the Cars & Aerosmith were there as well & a couple of other bands! I have always loved this song! Spooky!
Thanks for doing this. ARS not getting much love lately, but I knew eventually someone would get to them. BTW.... members were formerly the Classics IV. Barry, king of the guitar squall.

tHE BEST SINGER OF THE SONG BY FAR WAS THE LATE GREAT RONNIE HAMOND. HE HAD THE GIRLS THROWING THIER PANTIES ON THE STAGE!
Buddy building of Ars was from my home town.
I just subscribed because you played my favorite. "Imaginary Lover" is just as good.
Check out the original by the Classics IV. Dennis Yost’s vocal on that one is really great. Love ARS version too though
Yes Classics four!!!!
@@cathleensmith4717 The OG!
You should hear ARS on a fitting song called Cocain Charlie! Helluva song out of Atlanta!
I remember well the original version. But the Classics IV didn't have Barry Bailey on guitar and that makes all the difference.
Two members of ARS were also in the Classics 4 group.
One of their best hits . Guitar solo is 🔥
This was a grooving song back in the day. I know cause I was there.
Thx! We need more of Classics IV!
this tune simmers and sizzles...love it for many years:))) Thanks for reacting to such great music
A great reaction to a very integrated song in it's day. Well done, 🍻 cheers

It's a work of art!
the eagles - witchy woman and one of these nights
This a great cover. One of my favorite ARS songs. They used to sponsor a music festival in Atlanta every summer. Great guitar solo. Check out 'Doraville', 'Champagne Jam' and 'Not Gonna Let It Bother Me Tonight'. They eete a great smooth southern rock band. Always loved their music.
I'LL TAKE ,Cocain CHARLIE, Back against the wall, Dog Days, it's only music, large time and i aint much over along with what loyd listed.
Great cover the guitar player just crushed it 👍
Great cover of the Classics IV hit. Love the solos. this song has so much free-flowing rhythm in it that it makes you sad when the run on the different solos stop. Great vocal, guitar and keys and a reaction that was over the top!
Many great songs by this group.
They certainly served our music of my city of Atlanta !
Blue-eyed soul at it's best.
I've been trying so hard to turn reactors on to this awesome band...they are SO underrated! I've been listening to them since I was a teen...one of my all time favs! RIP sweet Ronnie (Hammond)!
Doraville, Georgia Rhythm, Champagne Jam, Silver Eagle, I'm not gonna let it bother me tonight, The Ballad of Lois Malone, Evileen, Imaginary Lover, Jukin', Dog Days, All night Rain, Angel, Crazy, Free Spirit, Large Time are all great songs
and my favorite Another Man's Woman
A.R.S. was another one of those criminally underrated bands ; think of Little Feat, James Gang, Free, J. Geils Band, the list goes on. This was almost a cover of their own song as the group Classics IV from about 1967. There were, I believe, a couple members from Classics IV who went on to form Atlanta Rhythm Section. Great stuff.
The original was Dennis Yost and the Classics four...they are all love songs and u need to go down that rabbit hole, start with Traces of Loves!
What I like about these two is that they're not afraid to explore and their pretty cool.
Classics lV, blows this cover away!
Thanks Shawn and Mel for recognizing Barry Bailey's skills on guitar. He's never mentioned among the greats, but he rocks - great tone, phrasing, and passion. Like Shawn said, he makes the guitar sing.
I mean very underrated, yeah His tone is sick!
These guys were awesome.
They were bluesy, funky, and smooth, during the time when disco was at it’s peak
These guys were just cool
You need to listen to do it or die by Atlantic Rhythm Section it was one of my favorite song When I was a teenager back in 1978 or 79 I hope Miss Mel will listen to the song
They were one of the best live bands. It's almost like people have forgotten about them.
ARS, ONE OF THE BEST!!!
Great oldie. I remember this so well. I' very listened to music since I was small. Music is what makes my day.
Try Not gonna let it bother me tonight, Imaginary Love and Champagne Jam, this was a great band!
This version of the song is great, and so is the original.. both are great!
I really love your reactions and how much you appreciate this great music.
This is one of my all time faves
I knew that you all would love it!
I was at this concert. Champagne Jam '79. Also had the Cars, Gary Moore, Dixie Dregs, and Aerosmith.
That is in my friend group. It seemed to ride that magic spot between groove rock every thing. One of my favorite songs to play drums to
Original Southern Rock Band.
Just can't beat the 70's music!
ARS are always the best, most have passed, just wish I had seen them , will always be a fan. Love you two and glad you all love them, too.
Awesome song love it have always loved this version the best. lol you both need cold showers love the reaction stay safe and well.
You have got to do the originally released version. It just conveys a whole different tone and the vocals are spot on.
Barry Bailey is one of my favorite guitar players EVER! He has a way of making those notes just squall!!!
You should hit the version by the Classics IV as well. It's excellent too.
I couldn't agree more the original version with the sax was killer, very smooth
I have always loved this song.
Mysterious is the exact word I would use to descirbe Spooky in this song
Ah yess! ARS rocks! I’m pretty positive y’all did “So into you!” Its myself and my guys song -been together 26 years- soon as we saw one another- perfect song we played over and over-please react to their song “Imaginary Lover” as well- it’s got that groovin vibe- 💖💙👍✌️
Spooky Classics IV
I've always loved these guys 😍
so much fun I love this as I grew up during this great time.
I’m new to you and I’m loving all your music selections! This is a remake of the original group the Classics IV. This is great but please check out the original, you won’t be disappointed, promise!
Outstanding reaction
More ARS? I'm in! His spooky woman cast a love spell on him!
Spooky was released October 1967 by the Classic IV, ARS did a cover to showcase their guitar talent...
They were a great band. Recommend reacting to So Into You by them next.
OMG this brings back such groovy memories 💜🎶😻
Lol Shawn o love when you start grooving..Y'all are a trip! Lol
Good one. I love it!! Just a little bit of some soul music.
ATLANTIC RYTHM SECTION, "SPOOKY" THIS IS A GROOVY TUNE. I FIRST HEARD THIS DONE BY THE CLASSIC IV. IT ALWAYS REMINDED ME OF THE ZOMBIES MUSIC..
I Loved SPOOKY @ 4000 RPM ..Red LINE from the SKY..
Loving the jazz influence here.
Loving your reactions and love your hair like this Mel. 🇦🇺
I was 16 when this released. reminds me of more mellow times.
Yup, again with my playlist! So glad you like Lara Fabian!!!
Thank you for sharing this with me
Yes, “Classics IV” did the original, and it’s awesome! Definitely check it out!
Yes definitely a great tune

One of my favorite bands. They have had a few different lead.singers over the years. Ronnie Hammond is the lead singer you’ll hear on the hit songs. His voice was incredible. The other lead singers, not so much.
