You know if someone tells me that they saw a dodo or a Tasmanian tiger I probably would not believe them either. I probably say something like "They have been extinct for millennia".
If I had to guess, I would say that they are trying to set up that he was knee deep in the cover up of the Sith return, explaining why he was so adamant about the si5 being extinct in the prequels.
I mean tbf there have been similar minor continuity errors in the past so I don’t think its THAT bad Plus this is the least of the problems in this show
It's kind of funny that this of all things is the last straw. I remember reading an interview with Samuel L Jackson where he described Ki-Adi Mundi as a guy "with a duck on his head".
Okay, let's be real here- Ki Adi Mundi is not an important Jedi Master, or one who has a ton of screentime. If you only watched Live Action, your chances are decent to not even know his name, even if he had some solid appearances in The Clone Wars. The man is no Yoda. My point there being: His appearance could've been *any* Jedi of a long-lived species getting a cameo. The fact that they chose Mundi, the man who *says* the Sith have been extinct for a Millenium, and who *we know is wrong* to me is a quiet signal to the audience that the writers did not forget that line. They're going for the same kind of dramatic irony and dread that the prequels used at times- they're trying to *remind us* where the canon story is going, and for that to fill us with dread: Whatever happens here, they never get word back to Mundi. He will *never* learn what happened, and remain blissfully, arrogantly unaware that the Sith still live. They're reminding us where all this has to end- quietly forgotten by the Jedi, ignorant of all the warning signs that they should have heeded before the time of the prequels, when it was all too late.
I 100% thought it was just another person of the same species, I didn't even realize it was Ki Adi Mundi until youtubers started uploading their recaps 💀
Said it before, the whole plot currently hinges on hiding things from Yoda. This argument just hinges on hiding it from Yoda AND a Jedi master who sent the main characters on that mission.
@@artembiyun423 I don't think some alien in the prequels being very old is fecal tbh. People are making, I was about to say a mountain out of a molehill, but it isn't even a molehill, it's actually just nothing since it doesn't contradict any canon lore.
I like that you are actually the only commenter I've seen who tries to provide an explanation and who highlights that it might be a bit early for getting furious. The toxicity of parts of these debates greatly irritates me, good arguments nonwithstanding.
I'm not particularly concerned about it breaking canon. Stuff like this happens in big franchises all the time. I've learned to roll with it. But what's interesting though is the fact that he's in the episode at all. It means the writers and producers haven't forgotten. They know exactly what they're doing, and they're doing it on purpose. Maybe they plan to reconcile it somehow. Maybe they have plans in mind that they think is better in some way if they just ignore this one little detail. Or maybe they're just want the canon hawks to get over it already, and are giving them something to chew on. In any case, we're just going to have to see how it plays out.
I enjoy watching the Acolyte because it is pretty cool in my opinion. Think for yourself, don’t take someone else’s opinion. I understand hating it because it might “break lore” or invalidate certain things right now, but finish the show and then make an opinion.
There’s no mention of the word Sith in the show so far. They just speculate it’s a traitor, not a full blown Sith Lord. And also, Ki-Adi Mundi’s age was technically only spoken of in Legends so they’re not exactly wrong to put him in the show and expand his life span
Honestly to me Cereans javing shotter lifespans to humans is much more interesting than having a very long longevity. But I guess that's okay. The point to me is that Qui-gon fought a guy with red saber and immediately came to the conclusion that it was a sith lord. Now you have a great group of jedi fighting against a dark entity with red saber who uses dark side of the force and nobody would come to conclusion that it might have been a sith?
@@StevenCarusoneNot really cope when it’s pure facts. What is cope is holding onto dear life about Mundi’s age when it is only ever mentioned in a since 2014 non-canon CD ROM from 1999 that was sold for less than a year and is remembered by literally no one. As others have pointed out: No one is suspecting this is a Sith at this point within the Jedi. The entire word was never mentioned. There are many valid criticisms to give about this show. But raging and seething over these very trivial or not even lore breaking things (at this point) is just showing you have never touched a woman in your life.
Why are you assuming that Mundi knows about the Sith? No one in the show has brought the sith up. We as audience still dont know. But the whiners have already drawn all the conclusions
It is possible that they just think this person is a dark jedi. Seeing Maul did not automatically make them know the sith were still out there so we should just wait. God bless everyone.
Ki Adi Mundi Impossible, the Sith have been extinct for a millennium (Assumption) Mace Windu I don’t think the Sith would return without us knowing! (Denial) Yoda Ah hard to see the dark side is! Even if the being In the forest is a Sith, even at that point the Jedi can’t sense the Sith! Obviously Ki Adi Mundi wasn’t present during the forest fight, so he has no way of knowing! I am not even sure the Jedi in the forest would not know that’s a Sithlord! I don’t think this breaks canon because it’s an established fact that the Jedi during the prequels couldn’t sense the dark side! I think the same applies in the Acolyte!
Even is ep. 1 they've accepted the fact that a Sith had returned after a Jedi Master was killed by a red light saber wielding force user trainwd in the Jedi arts. How is this diferent from what most likely will happen?
It’s one of those things I’m indifferent to it. It comes across as one of those things that the creators put in as a look we have a prequel character cameo.
I think what I more took away from Mundi appearing in this episode was that he was a lot more pink and a whole lot bulkier when he was younger. My boy’s been hitting the weights and the beach.
The Jedi are terrified for the return of the Sith. But without them having proof I feel it's alright to see the small group of Jedi dealing with a 'splinter faction' where the leader is teaching a damaged kid in the ways of the Force or whatever they want to call it.
It's almost if there was a point in the prequels that the Jedi are arrgogant and dismiss an obvious threat, which leads to their downfall. And this guy is the voice of that arrogancy and the Jedi sticking their heads in the sand in that scene.
@@kropianimation1774 they didn't dismiss the threat. They found it hard to believe at first, but seriously considered it when they told Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan to return to Naboo and "unravel the mystery of the Sith." And after Maul was defeated they accepted the Sith had returned. The Sith were simply cunning and skilled in avoiding the Jedi's attention until that point - "At last we will reveal ourselves to the Jedi."
@@Rezzanine A Jedi master, a senior member of the order, fought a Sith and told them about it and they went "Nah, we don't believe that". And Qui-Gon died because of that. A Sith lord is literally running the senate and they don't notice that. Because they are too arrogant. Yoda says so. They betray their principals by becoming warrior in a war and get killed because of it. The point of the prequels isn't "The sith just were too good, there's nothing the Jedi could have done". That's not the lesson of those movies. The lesson is pay attention, because otherwise you're gonna end up in a Nazi Germany situation.
@@kropianimation1774 that lesson applies equally to the senators of the Republic who welcome the death of liberty with "thunderous applause". With regards to the Jedi and Sith, it's both the Jedi failed and the Sith outsmarted them. Matthew Stover's novelisation of Revenge of the Sith (line-edited by Lucas himself) put it this way - Yoda realises that the Jedi were stuck in the past while the Sith had evolved. So presumably when Luke ultimately revived the Jedi Order, he would have corrected its flaws.
actual real life Star Wars Fans are fine. It is the toxic rage baiters and culture war grifters who are pretending to be furious and just farming hate for clout or views. The acolyte is so middle of the road inoffensive and has all the narrative nuance and complexity for a show that is aimed at my son, who is 12, and it is a great show to watch with him.
Literally EVERYONE: "The Sith." "This Sith character." "New Sith that just showed themselves." "Can't have a Sith reveal themselves to the Jedi." etc. etc. etc. Me: *Ehem* "Dark side force user, until we know for sure." Like, everyone states that it's a Sith even if it has thus far not been revealed. But if it turns out to not even be a Sith to begin with, we're all good. If it turns out to be a Sith however, one of two outcomes HAS to happen as to make sure it doesn't break with Canon continuity. 1. The Sith kills everyone right there and then. Leaving no witnesses. 2. Everyone who saw him has to keep it to themselves and never mention it... And honestly? THAT... Would be a REALLY fuckin' annoying scapegoat to use.
I mean I’ve been a Star Wars fan since 2000 and I couldn’t give a fuck less. Lucas said it himself “continuity is stupid” so if the creator OF THE FRANCHISE says this how could I disagree? This is disingenuous title since it’s right wing grifters making a stink before we see the entire show. Especially since that editor received death threats.
Star wars fans are always furious But yeah no i kinda agree But i also understand that with how much lore exists with star wars canon and non canon that it would be pretty easy to miss something as simple as how long a Cerean lives for (edit: ok so not the topic of the vid my bad with all the bullshit circulating this character saying the same thing I do find it ridiculous that the sith would even expose themselves this early to that many jedi when considering the timeframe and all and their lack of power in the galaxy at the time And the fact its even the sith to begin with is pretty stupid when it couldve just as easily been a dark side force user or a fallen jedi rather than a full sith) But also this show is trash anyway so lets just lock it behind the door of bullshit, say “nah my headcanon is this actually” and say fuck disney
Everyone is so fixated on this point of canon breaking when in fact, the bigger issue is that the show is just not well thought out, and this isn't just "Star Wars fans" that poeple like to throw around as a substitute for "people who don't agree with me", even more mainstream creators like Penguinz0 have come out to slam the show for its poor writing. If you zoom out even further to see the bigger picture, it gets worse because you just have to ask yourself, regardless of whatever "side" you're on: if they knew the show was going to draw the ire of the fandom, be divisive and cause more of a rift within the fanbase, why would they still go through to not only make it, but market it in that way ? The only answer I can think of is that they want people to hate watch the show, and want people to go online and fight about it. Don't play into their hand, this outrage is completely manufactured. The issue is not "bad" fans vs "good" fans, its the showrunners exploiting the fandom to consume a product they know is mediocre, and only created to farm outrage watchers.
That's unfortunately how star wars fans brains are wired. They get obsessed with the minutia and the technicalities of the universe, as if they're proofreading the worldbuilding and lore. It's like that one guy who thought Andor was stupid for having buildings with walls made of what looks like modern day brick and mortar.
Ah yes, the most likely scenario is that they "made a bad show on purpose"? Like what? I mean this is a pretty easy give-away that you have never created anything. It's part of being creative that sometimes things you make just don't land as intended. People have different tastes, that's just how it is. Lesyle Headland is a massive SW fan, you can be sure she put all her heart into this. That doesn't mean you have to like it, but this doubting of if people tried is just incredibly disrespectful.
@@kropianimation1774 Disney has not made a single show or movie, even outside of star wars, that has had an effective mystery. Assuming every story hook is an intentional mystery is understandable, but not common for Disney. Mysteries in the sequels were just left as plot holes, and same with marvel and even animated movies, there is more precedence that every mystery is a plot hole and a mistake in storytelling. If disney writers ever have a plan for something, they would come out and explain it plainly, and never make it as a mystery and reveal it slowly. This would be a groundbreaking show if it actually had mysteries, but there's no proof of it yet.

The hate on this show is ridiculous. Just watch the episodes for yourself. The show is clearly building to something pretty grand and fans do not have enough patience. So far the Jedi have covered up the events from the high council and it would be wild to see that Mundi is also with the coverup.
Ki Adi Mundi was born roughly 40 years after the time period this show is supposed to be set in. There's your plot hole. He shouldn't even exist in this show. If Ki Adi does exist in this time period then Yoda should if not be the grand master who doesn't make an appearance at all, should still be aware of Mundi's findings. This entire show is a plot hole. Sorry. Idk why people are covering and defending this show when its been breaking 3 decade old lore left and right.
Ki-Adi-Mundi doesn't have an age in new Canon. The Acolyte is not in the Legends timeline, it is in the new Canon timeline, so his EU age is not canon to this show.
@@RayOfTruth Mundi was born in 93 BBY. Its been like that for a while now. New canon or not this show just makes continuity error after continuity error.

I've yet to see a positive review of Kenobi that has any points that would make me think twice about that dumpsterfire. I won't insult you based on the media you enjoy, you can enjoy bad movies/tv series, I do to. I enjoy watching Chronicles of Riddick or the Room. Both are critically/objectively garbage cinema. It’s mediocre. The acting of the main character is flat and emotionless. The actor that plays the young Jedi Knight, Yord, is also pretty poor. Master Sol is the bright spot on the show and I really like him. He’s warm and likable, the kind of master a padawan would hope to have as a mentor. As for the plot being a murder mystery it is mediocre. A good mystery (IMO) starts off with a shocking event that plants a hook in you that keeps you focused and interested and driven to solve the mystery. This show has not planted that hook. I’m curious but not invested of locked in. I’m hoping that we get a mind bending reveal at some point like that 6th Sense reveal where it all comes together and I’m shocked I never saw it. The truth is, I don’t think the writing here is smart enough to pull it off. I’m gonna watch to the end because I want to see where it goes but I can’t really give it a recommendation. One last thing. There has been a lot of talk about the wokeness of the show. It’s there, for sure, but for the most part they aren’t beating you up with it. Much of the woke message is subliminal and you can ignore it if you want to or if you don’t care it won’t overpower the story.
It's fine. Lee Jung-jae as Sol is a real highlight, he brings a level of warmth to the role of a Jedi master that's great to watch. IMO the effects and props are fine, better than Kenobi. Generally I just find the show kind of boring and paint by numbers. The next few episodes REALLY need to step it up and get interesting or this will be pretty forgettable.

Nope. Show is just BAD. Studio is BAD. Lucasfilm doesn't give a DAMN what the fans want or love. They just want chicks who are lame and gay by any means necessary.
I am a Star Wars fanatic and I am loving it. I couldn't care what any fool says online, I made my own mind up and won't be influenced by trash youtube and facebook content causing an uproar for clicks and telling people how to feel.
I wonder what would happen if people watched the entire series and then reacted instead of going off about everything detail that is often viewed without full context. Hair trigger freak outs are just tiresome and are the hallmark of our diminishing attention span and the practice that the person that has the biggest loudest freak out is the most valid.
Sequels showed that "watching the entire thing fist" doesn't work, there is no assurance that the mysteries are intentional hooks, instead of plot holes. Every mystery that Force Awakens and The Last Jedi introduced, was never answered. (outside of books and other retcons) Can you really blame anyone for not believing these are meant to be mysteries?
Why does this matter so much? If they want to change the lore/cannon they can do it. They have done it before, will do it again. KAM’s birthdate has no impact on me. People say he wasn’t born yet? Guess what, he was. SO WHAT. I have loved Star Wars my entire life, I will continue to do so regardless of conehead birthdays

Hmm...
What an absolutely silly thing to get upset about.
I mean tbf there have been similar minor continuity errors in the past so I don’t think its THAT bad
Plus this is the least of the problems in this show
It's kind of funny that this of all things is the last straw.

The age of Ki Adi Mundi and his species (cereans) has not been revealed until today! his date of birth is not canon, but Legends. Study!!!

Ki Adi Mundi must have been mistaken by Disney as Yoda who's actually older and had been around for 900 years.
According to some social media posts by one author, this doesn't appear to be the case.
Considering some of the writers have never seen Star Wars, this tracks
@@LtCaveman Don't think that's true.

OK, but are they fast?
Star Wars fans, upset? Nooo, never.
Said it before, the whole plot currently hinges on hiding things from Yoda. This argument just hinges on hiding it from Yoda AND a Jedi master who sent the main characters on that mission.
He’s his great grand trans uncle! They both have the same name, because he’s named after him!!!
Honestly I would care less about his age since his age wasn’t even confirmed in his canon lore.

Also they may not be classified as a sith
What about the droid attack on the Wookiee?
Now THIS is COPE
@@StevenCarusoneNot really cope when it’s pure facts. What is cope is holding onto dear life about Mundi’s age when it is only ever mentioned in a since 2014 non-canon CD ROM from 1999 that was sold for less than a year and is remembered by literally no one.
As others have pointed out: No one is suspecting this is a Sith at this point within the Jedi. The entire word was never mentioned.
There are many valid criticisms to give about this show. But raging and seething over these very trivial or not even lore breaking things (at this point) is just showing you have never touched a woman in your life.

I can’t wait to see Rey in the acolyte it’s going to be sick haha
This show has way more critical issues than this one
They betting on the hate watchers.
It is possible that they just think this person is a dark jedi. Seeing Maul did not automatically make them know the sith were still out there so we should just wait.
God bless everyone.
I mean. Ki Adi is well known for being an idiot. So there’s that. And another is this could just be a rogue Jedi claiming to be a Sith.
I’ve been focused on the way the masked sith pushes the girl.
It's very... "Shoo!"
When are Star Wars fans not furious?
Ki Adi Mundi Impossible, the Sith have been extinct for a millennium (Assumption)
Mace Windu I don’t think the Sith would return without us knowing! (Denial)
Yoda Ah hard to see the dark side is!
Star Wars fans mad? Must be a day that ends in y
Nobody is furious. People are disappointed.
I don't think they would make such a fundamental error. Filoni is on the job. I think they used that Jedi master for a reason.
Are people sure it's him or is it just a male same species?
@jonx187x not sure if it's him then at least he's sticking to what we know, if not then at least we get to see another of his species
I get a feeling like all the Jedi present during the meeting just dont want to say "Sith" but all are thinking it
The Jedi are terrified for the return of the Sith. But without them having proof I feel it's alright to see the small group of Jedi dealing with a 'splinter faction' where the leader is teaching a damaged kid in the ways of the Force or whatever they want to call it.
At this point they’re doing stuff like this on purpose, they picked the one guy who said the Sith had been extinct for a millennia
@@kropianimation1774 there is a difference between arrogance and plain stupid
@@kropianimation1774 that lesson applies equally to the senators of the Republic who welcome the death of liberty with "thunderous applause". With regards to the Jedi and Sith, it's both the Jedi failed and the Sith outsmarted them. Matthew Stover's novelisation of Revenge of the Sith (line-edited by Lucas himself) put it this way - Yoda realises that the Jedi were stuck in the past while the Sith had evolved. So presumably when Luke ultimately revived the Jedi Order, he would have corrected its flaws.
I can count on Eck to give a reasonable take then hatewatch for the sake of it
actual real life Star Wars Fans are fine. It is the toxic rage baiters and culture war grifters who are pretending to be furious and just farming hate for clout or views. The acolyte is so middle of the road inoffensive and has all the narrative nuance and complexity for a show that is aimed at my son, who is 12, and it is a great show to watch with him.
The show is garbage and so are you
Make sure to keep that title in your clipboard, it will save you a lot of typing over the years.
The age thing is annoying but I can at least understand it this is my problem with him in this.
Literally EVERYONE: "The Sith." "This Sith character." "New Sith that just showed themselves." "Can't have a Sith reveal themselves to the Jedi." etc. etc. etc.
Me: *Ehem* "Dark side force user, until we know for sure."
Like, everyone states that it's a Sith even if it has thus far not been revealed.
Ki Adi Mundi didn't have an age in new canon yet.
The Acolyte is not in the Legends continuity, so his EU age is not canon to The Acolyte.
I mean I’ve been a Star Wars fan since 2000 and I couldn’t give a fuck less. Lucas said it himself “continuity is stupid” so if the creator OF THE FRANCHISE says this how could I disagree? Might as well have Luke in the acolyte, because screw continuity right?

But i also understand that with how much lore exists with star wars canon and non canon that it would be pretty easy to miss something as simple as how long a Cerean lives for (edit: ok so not the topic of the vid my bad with all the bullshit circulating this character saying the same thing
I do find it ridiculous that the sith would even expose themselves this early to that many jedi when considering the timeframe and all and their lack of power in the galaxy at the time
And the fact its even the sith to begin with is pretty stupid when it couldve just as easily been a dark side force user or a fallen jedi rather than a full sith)
But also this show is trash anyway so lets just lock it behind the door of bullshit, say “nah my headcanon is this actually” and say fuck disney
Most people aren't but ok
@@kropianimation1774 I mean, I dunno what to tell you, that's just my observation as a casual audience member. Not really here to argue with anyone.
You should consider that RUclipsrs care about views and engagement (that's literally how they make their money) and this Hate Wave for the acolyte is a goldmine. So when they say "I was considering not watching this Acolyte episode but _insert_random_excuse_ so thats why I decided to make this video" they're full of shit and they know exactly what they're doing. I don’t even care about Star Wars I like the eu book a lot.
Ki Adi Mundi was born roughly 40 years after the time period this show is supposed to be set in. There's your plot hole. He shouldn't even exist in this show.

Haven’t watched this show yet. Smash or pass?

(outside of books and other retcons)
Can you really blame anyone for not believing these are meant to be mysteries?
Why does this matter so much? If they want to change the lore/cannon they can do it. They have done it before, will do it again. KAM’s birthdate has no impact on me. People say he wasn’t born yet?
