I've yet to find a sound I've wanted that Archetype Gojira couldn't cover. The RevC sounds great as well though.
I switched from the Gojira to the Otto audio recently
Hell Yeah, I love the Archetype Gojira
I wish I had the money for it lol
@@cru2006 Just wait for a sale, that's what I did. They do 50% off fairly often. Keep an eye out during the upcoming holiday season.
@@INeverWanted2010 ooooh got it
Roots, end of story. Free, can do it all, sounds great.
Do you know how to reduce the latency though? I just downloaded it, and it has a almost second long delay for the effect. I put the buffer to the lowest samples and it changed nothing
You need to use an audio interface. If you're already using one go to: options>audio/midi settings and change audio device type to ASIO and the device to your interface@@TITTYtoucher2000
@@TITTYtoucher2000 do you run the plugin within your DAW?
@4bschaum I wasn't before. Once I started using it as the vst through cubase, it worked great. That being said, I got Jeff Loomis toneforge and it is leagues better than roots
@@TITTYtoucher2000 that's weird. I was Thingking maybe the Buffer of the daw was cranked Up.
I really like the fortin nameless from neural. Gives me most of the heavy tones i need

For heavey tones, try the II II II II.
@@MRVIDEOMASTER-yw1qwit's completely possible an absolutely feasible to be a devil horn raising metalhead and love the Lord at the same time.
@@ulfrohdinthe RUclips circuit has been playing up the Otto audio plugin, but for me personally, it doesn’t offer enough and sounds really bad compared to the competition.
Agreed. NeuralDSP Gojira is great too.
ToneX replaced the kempers at the studio and we wait for the ToneX pedal to come. Our sessions are easier than ever. It took some time to capture our amps in advanced mode but it’s totally worth it
The amped roots is my fav lead plug-in it’s what I imagine a real amp to sound like
Got amphub yesterday and I can say I was immediately taken aback by how great it sounded and how friendly the interface is. Not sure I’ll be using much else for now
That’s a really good one too. That was my “best” for last year.

OTTO IIII for the win. Best amp sim ever IMO.
Sweet, this is exactly the info I needed. Thank you for saving me a shit load of time!
Didn't see that #1 coming. I would have assumed it would be something like neural dsp gojira or their soldano. Not because I've heard you say that or something. They just seem to be fairly undisputed. But you do have a solid point. Hard to go wrong with one knob designed to just simply sound good.
Yeah most of the time when I'm using a plugin, I'm just trying to get work done... and having something that takes 0 effort to get dialed is a godsend.
@@TaylorDanley fair enough. I can only imagine with all the stuff that goes into producing a video, something as near and dear to guitarists heart such as their preferences in tone can kinda take the backseat. Lose priority. I know I would certainly be looking for a quick fix that I could rely on if I were doing the same thing for a living.
The amp knob 5150 set is awesome so easy and they sound good blending different ones on different tracks
My go to is STL Tones!
I’ve used Roots since it came out and yeah easy to get a great versatile sound…and it’s free! If I was going to step up and pay for a sim I’d go Neural…when they have another 50% off sale 🤘🤘🤘
Fortin nameless for jamming. Sadly prefer it to any axe 3 model that I've come across. Splawn models is the closest I can get
Yesssss Taylor knows what’s up! Solid list! All 3 of these got “Chef’s Kiss” status in my amp sim tier list!

I need to update roots.
I'm a Neural DSP fan girl 🤘🏻😊 always and forever 🤗
NAM hands down my favorite free software
How about a list of best guitar vsti?
Archetype Gojira ftw
Ive actually grown to like AA Reamp. Simple, has the channels I need, ext IR loader. $10 win.
Audio Assault actually would be on here if I didn't have to keep the run time under 1 min. Great value!
Otto IIII and Amphub are what I’ve been using for a while. Didn’t really like the roots sim and tonex I just didn’t like the experience of using the software.
Thanks mate
I have them all
Roots is great. Unfortunately it crashes Logic on my M1. They say the problem was addressed for the "2.0" version, but obviously not. I can sometimes get it to work, but it's just way to much trouble with it always crashing. I bought the Neural DSP Soldano and I actually liked the Roots amp better. and it's free. I think the Neural stuff is overhyped. The Soldano is muddy as hell and it takes so much extra screwing around in the chain to get anything decent out of it. The best way I can describe it .. Mud. I feel like I got suckered with that plug-in. Wasn't cheap for just one amp either.
Used Amplitube 5 for a year. A pain in the ass to get a decent guitar tone, everything sounded like stuff was played in a tin can, cardboard box or just being dull overall. No matter how I tweaked it, it took hours to find a sound to settle in. If you don't demand much from the sound, Amplitube is cheap and ok option, but for higher demand it can drive you nuts.
On the other hand, I bought Neural DSP Fortin Nameless Suite and Soldano SLO-100 plugins. Got better sounds in mere hours than with Amplitube in weeks. Also Amped's free Roots amp (5034) is very nice and sounds good, though I felt it needed some more refinement. I guess the licenced version is better.
So my advice, forget a big catalog of Amplitube and buy few excellent plugins that cost a bit more, but serves you tons better. I became Neural DSP fan from producer/mixing perspective instantly right after buying those two plugins.
I dont know what you played but your description of amplitude 5 is ...seriously, your just being dramatic right? Becouse you described sounds that isn't amplitube 5. I'm leaning more on user error
@@nathanrice6589 Sure, it can be user error. But for less money I got better sounds easier than with Amplitube 5. So my point stands.
hello! Do you know how I can install more default sounds to the ampees rots?
Totally agree on ML Roots! Reasonably priced, easy to use, highly versatile, and performs like a champ for amp sim at any price.
#1 for me would be ToneX for all the same reasons that Taylor mentioned.
Kind of a cheat response but my third would be Genome - the upcoming IR Loader from TwoNotes. I've been using it since early beta and IMO, it's poised to be the best IR loader out there. Their Dynamic IRs sound insanely great.
Can't wait to try it out. Any idea when it comes out?
@@joejohnson8966 I do not know - sorry. ...but it has been in an extended beta so when it does, you can be certain it will be very well tested. ;)
@@dylangadwa3119 Can't wait. Thank you. And I appreciate the THOROUGH testing.
Yeah Roots is pretty legit. I’m about the paid 5150 it comes with though 🔥
The best one is whichever one chokes my laptop the most.
Wish roots didn't make my fl run at 2 fps
Rvxx is absolutely the best. Not the second model the first one.
I tried toneX and it always sounded off to me even with third party IRs. The Neural Omega Granophyre is my favourite for rhythm tones
I love amplitube
I downloaded it, but I can't record this plugin on ableton, anybody had the same problem?
Really liked ReAxis personally. I have Amplitube Mesa Boogie which I like too. I do wanna try ToneX.
No Gojira?!
Big problem with Roots is that it doesn't support stereo tracks, so I can't put it on guitar bus and use one instance of the plugin for both left and right channel.

Hi i will try roots for get a good metal tone ,i never used a plugin before. The problem is your said just about recording or completly a big problem?
you can simulate it in mono, pan bus all the way left, two instances of guitar feeding into it, each with a different setup, then use a combination of the two sounds, using their pan slides As volume slides
FINALLY
How will the sound comes ?? I'm noob explain plz.
HOW DO YOU GET THIS ON ABLETON
What about nux mg 300
me who use crack neural dsp
This work for bass?
is there a reason roots keeps muting every 10 seconds?
Only 5034 is free, others cost money. Free trial plugins have this muting thing, because it's on trial mode. After you buy the whole thing, it should stop.
No matter whose plugin you choose, always make sure they use apple silicon. If a plugin manufacturer isn’t working to make apple silicon, their technology should be immediately obsoleted. We’ve had this tech from Apple for a few years now and anyone not developing against it is already way behind. It’s not that hard to port your app over; neural did it for all of their plugins in just a few months.
No audio assault.??? Cmon man😂
Line 6 Helix Native
Ignite Emissary is worlds better. Tried everything with Roots, its just underwhelming. I dont care that I have to load a separate plugin for IRs because Im not a baby who cant bear using two plugins at once.
guitar rig 6!!!!!

So I repeat with renewed clarity: not the place
THANK YOU DUDE
How the hell can you use it? You jack your guitar to pc via usb? 😊
Nooo, u need an Audio Interface! Jack ur guitar there and enjoy the sound of the guitar gods!
And do a little research on audio interfaces for guitar. They are not all created equally. This does not mean you have to spend much money either. It only means some interfaces have better drivers and headroom than others. If you have very hot pickups then headroom is going to be a factor. Look up suggestions for guitar interfaces at whatever budget you want.
@@SaintKinesi need to get an interface so bad haha, been using an aux chord coming from my multi effects pedal for years, now that im getting into writing music rather than playing for enjoyment or the vibes ill need a interface for sure, dont know how much of a difference it will make though
@@boykidmanboykidman5420 some multi effects pedals that can connect to computers do work great as interfaces. This doesn't sound like what you're dealing with though. I'm thinking of something like the Axefx that can connect to computers. They work great because they obviously have all the headroom and drivers you want for guitar. I'm not sure how you would hook up good monitors with that setup but maybe the Axe has good outputs for that as well.
I ended up getting the IK Multimedia Axe solo. It's built for guitars but has a mic input that is good as well. They're around 200 of I remember right. The bigger one has an extra input, a tuner and can save presets.
I had an M Audio before that that just didn't have enough headroom for my Ibanez and PRS. Both were clipping at the lowest setting.
@@SaintKines I will look into Axefx, after i move into this new apartment i plan on getting some interface and monitors, as of now ive been just using an adapter that converts to the guitars 3.5mm cable to aux and that runs into the line in port on the pc, and i have a 15$ amp from a pawn shop haha but it still sounds great with headphones, i see you saying headroom though what is headroom?
Every plug-in is free if you really want it 😁
Ah yes, Piracy
Thank you bro
My favorite free plugin is the Goblin by Aurora Dsp. The built in Ir slider sounds great. It's a very clear sounding plugin.
I actually haven't kept up with them, I'll have to check that one out!
If you were doing this for metal than why in the world would you not mention djentgod. Made by the same people that made roots. Roots is more for hard rock alternative Djent God is the one you want for metal.
Roots is impressive, im half tempted to buy the rest of the amp sims that come with roots
will you do Engl Savage profile for Tonex? pls :) I tried some from others and they suck.
BTW there`s also free neural engine VST that could have used some good profiles: Guitar ML Proteus. you might check it also
I think I already did one and uploaded it! I'll double check. But yes, I will do more eventually.
@@TaylorDanley much thanks! I didn`t see
Thank you!
Neural hands down
NAM is the best.
NDSP: Archetype Petrucci. Covers a lot. Basically the only amp plug-in I need. Even transpose my guitar tunings so I don’t physically have to change tunings.
NI Guitar Rig is pretty good for non metal sounds.
I would like Roots a lot, but it’s quite buggy and crashes when I’m trying to load my own IRs.
Ignite's Emmisary is great too, also free btw
BASS
what is the best to play thrash metal?
Shit doesn't work
Amp-c is definitely not outdoing Neural Plugins. 😂😂😂😂😂 neural plugins are the best amp sims available right now. Sorry but i have to comment when i know you know neural plugins are the best
Neural DSP number one . I like the plini plugin. It do everything really well and I love the simplicity and the design. I get so many chicks now I gotta beat em off with a stick 😂
