      There is something "quickly gets boring" about it.. I mean it sounded great for a while, but since I found NAM for free, I never opened II II. The iLok manager is also a buggy bloatware, sadly some plugins use it. (I think some already threw it away thank god). So anyway, I feel some regrets about buying the Otto.

      @spyware1100 I still love it and would never get rid of it! But I will say now im loving that new Bogren MLC too! The MLC would be super high up on this list for me!

      Absolutely. If you're wanting to play some REAL extreme, evil, blasting raunch, this is it. Im an old guy, and just got into sims the past 3 years. My biggest takeaway is the modern metal tones are pretty sterile. Like Boston/Tom Scholz with some saturation...lol. 🤷‍♂️

  • @KnapfordMaster98
    @KnapfordMaster98 Год назад +15

    Amped Roots was the first time I'd ever heard an amp sim that properly captured the tightness and low resonance of a real amp cab in the room. I use ML Sound Lab stuff exclusively, the ML5 in particular is extremely versatile. I still use Guitar Rig 5 for effects, particularly delay which I love, but I haven't used it for any amp stuff in ages.

    Archetype Gojira and Nolly are probably my favorite. Nolly is basically your one stop shop amp sim, amazing cleans, a Marshall, a 5150, and Kraken for leads and all your basic pedals you need. Gojira is similar in that sense, but I really dig the 5150 stealth, probably the best 5150 plug-in I’ve used

    Honestly, the TH-U Rig Player is by far the best feel of any amp sim out there. They are supposed to be kemper profiles that they managed to 'break'. The choptones packs are insane. The whole plugin is so well balanced, low latency, and easy of cpu that I do not know why people doesn't talk much about it. IK new TONEX is also pretty good, I'm using just the free one, so I can download up to 20 captures of amps from the community, but nothing compares the feeling of a TH-U Rig Player capture.

  • @Ronny1031
    @Ronny1031 Год назад +26

    TH-U is fantastic and so full of features. Blending amps and cabs, changing tubes on the amps, using a variac, just an insane amount of options. Love it! Also, hard to beat Amped Roots. The 2.0 update made an already epic plug-in even better, can’t say enough good things about it.

    • @azdesertrat7849
      @azdesertrat7849 Год назад +1

      100% agree w/TH-U. Out of the box it's fantastic and covers a huge range of tones. However, if you're looking for something specific just grab one of the exceptional Choptones rigs. My go to is the Choptones Pivy 65 for crushing chugs and searing leads.

      @@wasoota this is by far the most annoying thing ever. Ik with Amplitube 5 figured out how to get it all on one screen, organized well, I so let's hope Overloud takes a page from them and makes an updated THU. Also would be awesome if TH-U gets it's own AI profiler that's backwards compatible with the Rig Player models.

I'm not even trying to blow smoke up Randall or Overloud's ass. Its just a really good amp sim. It takes pedals well too without turning into static mush. Its really awesome. I used to use Guitar Rig 5 and Amplitube 3 with a HUGE list of custom amp impulses I found online. My chain was something like Input -> GR5's Gate and Noise Reduction -> Amplitube's Amp Heads -> Fl Studio's Patcher with 2 instances of Convolver in parallel, each holding a different Cabinet impulse. That machine fried and I lost years of work. Now I'm looking into getting back into it, but there's so much software to choose from and I'm familiar with very little of it. Thankfully I did keep my giant folder of impulses, although outdated at this point.

    Totally agree on Neural DSP. GREAT sounding plugins, but too much of the same. Each latest Archetype would be God Tier if you never owned a Neural Archetype before. At least with Cory/Tim/Bea, they all seem to be quite different.
    Since everything went on sale, I went back to check on my amp sim plugin collection and have found the Nembrini stuff to quite good as well.
    It's interesting, Helix Native is my bread and butter since I own a Helix LT, but I don't find it so good for fiddling and trying out things on an amp. It's not an "amp-like experience" -- for example the Cali MKIV is split into separate models, one per channel. The sounds are generally great, but you are getting one-channel at a time unless you do some fancy work multi amp switching.
    What I get in other plugins by contrast is an amp panel with all the amp channels modeled. I can switch to the clean of that amp with a click, have rhythm/lead separate etc.

    Neural started in deep with prog guys, hence so many of the similar plugins, at the same time that their focus was clearly on Quad Cortex development for a few years there. They seem to be really be working towards newer features and sounds with each release. I own Petrucci, Henson and the Mesa Boogie Suite and they all have individual things I enjoy and would use, and if Neural ever figures out a way to use them together or in conjunction, which is rumored, then it will be even better. I'll probably buy Cory Wong and the Morgan Suite at some point, but yeah, they don't seem to be the jack of all trades sims, but the target a specific sound with each.

      It's excels at all the weird things, and is more versatile than most sims while remaining very good at everything, unlike other extensive plugins which are just average at a lot of things but not great at any. I'm not the biggest fan of the amps, Although they have their time and place. The acoustic amp, the pitch shifter (at the time... now a few of neural plugins have it), the guitar doubler, and all the effects are unmatched in my opinion. If I was stuck on an island with one plugin for the rest of my life I'd choose JP. Whatever I do, my DAW usually has at least one instance of it running.

      Honestly bro im just an average dick whose opinions dont matter, but I was really impressed with Gojira. Insanely heavy tones. Petrucci is definitely more versatile, has presets by Mateus Asato and Kiko Loureiro. More solid crunch/clean tones, great harmonizer, awesome phaser effects. Either way, you cant go wrong.

    Only plug-in I have that I use is the Gojira one. I really like it. I have been thinking about buying the AmpKnob plug-in because I think it sounds good and the ease and quickness of getting a good tone is appealing to me.

    Archetype Gojira, Tone Forge Loomis and TH-U are hands down the only ones I’ll use. Only thing about TF Loomis is it absolutely RUINS my CPU.

    I felt the exact same way about a lot of the Neural stuff, that self-induced market saturation. That being said I am still loyal to exactly 2 of their plugins, the Gojira and the Rabea. Gojira is one of my favorite bands of all time so of course lmao, also whammy pedal go brrrr. Same reasons you said about the Rabea, great tones plus the synths and the tuning change thing were just 👌👌👌 Honestly just having those two I never find myself wanting more

      Now Kuassa has a whammy pedal vst, I was looking the day before it released if there was any and couldn't find one, then low and behold..can use it with anything. Kinda made gojira seem mostly useless to me.

      @@jackbootshamangaming4541 That's fair. I've had it basically since launch so I'll still be rocking the whammy pedal on there (now I just need to get an expression pedal to use it 😂😂😂)

    Honestly think if neural dsp just did a mark series instead of petrucci with different versions of the mark amps it would’ve appealed to more and would’ve been way cooler. Especially considering there’s only mediocre mark modeled amps out there. The initial neural dsp amps really appealed to me initially for being models of rare amps like the meshuggah, and granophyre. Now it’s just giving every single prog or internet sensation a plug-in. Hope they go back to their roots. Give us some unique amps like a wizard or Fryette.

    I used Guitar Rig 5 from Native Instruments (specifically the Richard Z signature amp) for the last 11 years. It's obviously pretty dated at this point, so I finally picked up NeuralDSP Petrucci two days ago. I understand the "NeuralDSP saturation" feeling, and can see how it doesn't necessarily offer any particular novelty over the rest. I bought it because (1) Mesas are just my favourite amps, (2) I don't own an amp and I'm not going to buy a bunch of plugins - I just want one complete package to use for the next 10 years lol.
    The rhythm amp has been really nice, getting some much needed tightness and articulation out of the low-end on my 7 string (courtesy of the bite switch and the tight knob). Aside from the amazing tones, I like that it has a doubler built in - just adds some more spice to practicing (I used the stereo delay in Guitar Rig for the same purpose). The transpose feature is also a big deal for me. Between my Strat in E/drop D and my 7 string in B/drop A, I can access soooo many different tunings. No need for retuning, crazy string gauges, or even multiple guitars in different tunings. I'm really looking forward to trying it out in a mix!

      I also pulled the trigger on the Petrucci yesterday, I saw the 50% discount and jumped right into it after testing it, I love all the high gain tones but I mostly practice clean cause I get fatigued with the high gain stuff pretty fast and that piezo amp sounds really cool, im kinda new at guitar and i dont have any amps so I hope it pays off

    nice vid...but after trying and buying so many ampsims you start to realize nothing sounds better than a good amp with a line out to your D.I. The OTTO 11 11 11 however is the probably the best of ampsims at the moment.
