This guy is the best you've ever had on the show! His love for cars is so evident. He loves them because they're "cool". It doesn't get better than that.👍
Totally agree man. I have a few cars and although they wiil be classics in there own right I own them because they look cool are fun to drive and give me and others pleasure. Thats all that really matters aye.
I guess Im asking randomly but does anyone know a method to get back into an Instagram account?? I was dumb forgot the account password. I would appreciate any help you can give me.
This episode has to be rated in your "top 5" best. The cars associated with these collections are ALWAYS special!! The owners are as much of a "story" as the cars and Bernie comes in very near, or at the top, of that group of individuals. Quite the "character" !! Comfortable and confident WITHOUT being obnoxious or belligerent!!! One viewer away from making this a "400 Thumbs Up" episode. 👍👍👍👍 (X 100) !!!
right, he is covering these cars with plastic sheets but what happens is that this plastic stops air circulation and air moisture stays there underneath and this causes rust formation. Old cars need dry air
Bernie has had access to some serious cash throughout his lifetime. Wow...what a collection! Favorite quote..."You Americans invented CocaCola, and that's about it"
@@FYMASMD I don't know for the Mustang but he's right about the Corvette. POS from the beginning with that "BlueFlame" lump and drum brakes. And since he owns and drive a few cars, I guess he knowes a lot more than you do boy !
Dont forget real engines. The Webered David Brown while lovely is far less usefull than the Mustang let alone the Vettes. And costs 5 times as much to repair! The Cosmos is very rare, but the brap brap thing is really a pre 10A. Most of those cars are true collectors items,, even the overgrown VWs
@@FYMASMD I think you missed the point, it's "banter", guys ripping each other, though Tom is too much of a Gentleman to really get into it :) Clearly Bernie loves American culture, cars, lifestyle etc.
Jody Owen unlike Aston Martin, Mazda makes cars that will not leave you stranded every other time you drive them. That said, the db5 is one of the most gorgeous cars ever built.
Bernie is a hoot seems like a great guy. Of course we love the cars that should go without saying. Thanks Tom .and everyone involved in the sharing of this.
Bernie has terrific tastes and makes great choices about the cars he's bought. Fantastic! I especially like the fact that he kept the racing equipment in the DB5. He kept it true to it's history, instead of monkeying around with it. And as other people have mentioned, his love for the cars and personality is so refreshing. Thanks for sharing Bernie, you're the man!
14:00 it’s a ‘67 Standard Mercury Cougar (Non XR7), based on the lack of XR7 badges on the C-pillar and lack of side marker lights on the rear quarters. NOT the same floor plan as a Mustang, the wheelbase is stretched about 3” longer behind the front seats for better road ride and better rear legroom. I’ve owned 5 Classic Cougars over the years. LOVE’EM!!!

What a great character, Bernie really is just one of those guys that I'd just sit and listen to him talk while drinking a few pints for a couple hours.
That DB5. One of my favorite car moments from my childhood was when a neighbor rented her garage to a DB5 owner for winter storage. When he started it up in the spring, the sound it made was pure music.

@@briangreen6602 no, most of them were not. You could even tell the way he looked through the window and stated "oh, its a manual". It kinds gave it away in the video that he was surprised to see a manual.
Please come back and do more in the UK soon. Really enjoyed the Barn Finds here. Even more so that they’re literally 20 miles up the road from me. We want more Bernie!
Unlike the gunners you meet (gunner do this, gunner do that) Bernie has and will continue to restore and conserve his cars and cannot hide his passion for them.
Bernie is a rare item himself, it’s rare to find such a wise man with the love for the old classics. Bernie me old china I love the collection thank you for the look around.
Rich Bowles I’m sorry I forgot, are we talking about race cars or race cars? James who? How in the hell did this cat come into possession of that framing car? ! Bonkers! So yeah, a race car. Only ultra legendary. No biggie. No pressure. Send me your address Bernie and I’ll see to it that the components stay in tip top working condition, but they will have to be vigorously tested for statistical compliance. So yeah, also, send me a flight? How many 992 GT2s are in existence? Next your gonna tell me he has the first Miura ever made. Or a Cobra that still shows beer cans supposedly used to fill the backside of the body if part of it got too thin from the dipping. Dude said the very first ones from Shelby, you literally couldn’t lean on a fender. Oh, so now Caroline Munro is landing outside to chopper him away for lunch. Like it’s everyday.
I know Bernie well... very well... Tom did make it clear that not all the cars are his - he isn’t a millionaire... Some cars in fact are mine 😉. He is an infectious and enthusiastic person who says how it is. For someone who is retired, he runs around the country seven days a week helping friends, clients and family pursue their dream car ownership experiences. He has many people’s dream job of being asked to source, acquire, build, maintain and sell an eclectic mix of machines. From a old Morris minor to Porsche unicorns... all are treated the same.
Bernie clearly shows the difference between English storage and tidiness and U.S.A. storage and absolute filthy / rusting chaos. Well done Bernie! Give an American a brand new car, straight out of the dealer's showroom, and what's the first thing he does after driving it half a mile? He ties a large Christmas tree onto the roof. It matters not if it's Christmas time. It's a great ploy to give it a few scratches and begin to bed it in.
Just an absolutely incredible collection of pretty significant sometimes rare cars, that looked to be extremely well kept. Definitely a very different Barn find Hunter issue, but I think that's perfectly OK because these cars have been sitting for a long time too, they have just been better taken care of. As far as Bernie goes, I think he's definitely a funny character with quite a bit of change in his pocket, and great taste in autos. I also suspect that he just might get a bit overbearing, let's say, over time. Don't get me wrong; I really enjoyed watching and listening to the guy immensely!
4:42 - I drove an Austin-Healey like that a year ago in a 4th of July parade. I drove it back to its home about 12 miles & flipped the Electric Overdrive Toggle Switch on the way. the RPMs dropped heavily. It was too cool. Electronic Overdrive Shifting from ‘63 was Impressive!
So glad to hear you say one of your favorite cars was a 68 Cougar. My dad bought a 68 GT-E as our family's first 2nd car in 1975 and had my mother drive it. Of course dad loved to tear around in it. Dad sold it in 78 when he got mom a new Cougar to a guy that was the Motorcraft regional performance parts dealer. He saw the car in 77 and after he checked the VIN, he told my dad "When you are ready to sell it, call me." As is usually the case, dad really didnt know what he had and sold it to someone else. Sure wished I had that GT-E today. The thing about the GT-E is it was so nose heavy and had so much torque that you could make the rear wheels break traction on wet pavement in any gear. On dry pavement, it was a luxury missle of the day.
oh and here is an interesting car.... That man is amazing! Bernie , may you live forever! Salt of the earth with money to spend on some "interesting" toys. Thank You Good Sir!
What an incredible guy he is, and his collection is impressive. "Jay Leno is greedy" one of his great comments. Of the lot, the Maserati has to be my favorite.
That Liberace car, is owned by a guy called Jim Thorn (not gonna give his full name for his own safety). Its been driven in parades in my home town for years.
