Rat Rod Custom 1950 Mercury Rescue! - Roadkill Episode 21

- It's always a good idea to buy a car off the Internet sight-unseen, right? That's what a friend-of-a-friend of Roadkill did with the kustom Merc-and maybe he made an even worse decision when he allowed Freiburger and Finnegan to wrench on the thing and deliver it to him. This deal was set up by a Roadkill fan, Jim Norman of Norman Vinyards in Paso Robles, California. The road trip involves the '69 El Camino from Episode 4, The Dog from Episodes 4 and 17, lots of burnouts with the guys from Hot Rod Ranch - www.hotrodranchcustoms.com - and plenty of fun with Alex Gambino of Gambino Kustoms - / gambino.kustoms

RIP Bika (aka The Dog). So sad. I've had quite a few dogs over the years and I've suffered through their deaths, so I know that hurt all too well.
The worst pain ever!!! loosing a friend, in fact the ONLY one in the world that loves you more than themselves!!!
@@jerrycraig6522 what? learn english please
@@DrLoverLover Made perfect sense to me. That your English is atrocious enough that you don't is what is known as a "you" problem, nothing else.
People or Animal
The doggy died? Ah man that's messed up🥺
Any episode with DOG in it is definitely worth watching.
Because everybody needs a dog to barf in their car...
You got to give David such respect for not cursing when the hood hinge slammed his hand into the fender. His reaction was just priceless
Prob reminded him of when he door slammed his sack.. so hand in fender is tame I guess
I cussed for him, I know that feeling and it sucks!
Throw a Wrench
Be a Man
I'm glad he didn't lose his fingers, that looked like a serious hit
I could just hear him going inside his head: “I’m on camera, don’t say it, I’m on camera, don’t say it…”.
Thank you mighty algorithm for placing this 10 years old video into my feed! 😅 So much cool $hit like we don't see in newer ones, the people eating altered and their Gasser line up, Gambino's Merc and his amazing shop, and the really cute doggo!!!
Finally they’ve brought some of the RUclips videos back!
I wonder what make them bring it back?
But either way, I enjoy it.
@@RDSAlphard nobody signed up because after they got bought out by motor trend the quality went 📉📉📉
you saying this in every episode that comes back?
It looks like a ship on wheels
@lucas stop posting the same thing on each video
I miss these guys man. Great show
Same now motortrend wants you to pay to watch them
That dog is the chilliest ever
I guess I was a late attendee to the party. My cable didn't have the channel that Roadkill was on until recently, and now I've been discovering the awesomeness.
It was only on RUclips for free...until 😭
Dog is the best Roadkill member ever. I miss her.
Thank you so much. I love my Rod & Custom family!!!!
So miss that sweet dog.
Very well maid episode with a great ending.
There's nothing quite like a 55 Chevy with a 327 4 speed they're just about as wicked as you can get
The dog is the best!
I love Freiberger's dog!
Sadly I believe the dog passed away a while ago at this point
@@night5738 years ago sadly. Had a tribute to her at the end of episode 47(ish)
After Sly made cobra..people wanted a similiar custom rod..
Awsome 50 😎
@@dicemancolostrum7369 i loved that car . That movie was awesome even with its 80s cheesiness
9 years after this was filmed same car in that condition landed in Australia 40k so like 80k US.
That'd be like 30k USD
@@t4k3y0ur5hirtoff yes sorry I got it back the front der 🤦♂️
Sylvester Stallone drove a cool '50 Mercury in "Cobra". Too bad it was destroyed.
Actually there were 2 of those cars for the shoot 😏
I am impressed he was able to ride a"Bent Bike" on the first try. Yet another discovered talent.
Those seats look like what came in a Ford Galaxie and I love the doggy and she doesn't seem to mind the ride lol....
Great show guys, please upload the 24 hrs of Lemmons with the Rotsun ! also a great episode 😀
Yay! I have been wanting to watch this one for a while. Even when I could see it on MTOD, the audio wasn't synced properly and was unwatchable.
One of my all time favorites 😍
The burnout remind me of scene from American Graffiti especially with that yellow hot rod
Yeah got to love the dog !
I went through Texas and there was a lot of 50 mercurys still running stock at the gas stations
a huuuuuuuge smile on my face till the whole video) AWESOME! thanks))))))))))))))))
Never fails to amaze me how gutless those massive American V8 engines are
The Packard tail lights excellent
I wish i knew that you were at Jim Meyer Racing in Lincoln City, i would have driven the 68 RS Z28 up there and took you to lunch at Otis Cafe in Taft.
Oh man that 16 year old boy was lucky. Wish we had cars like this in Europe
***** Depends where you are in Europe, here in Scandinavia its loads of cars like that out in the summer.
Alexander Wærnes
Lucky you. I live in Czech Republic and there are rarely any american muscle cars. If you really want to see some, you gotta visit some meeting...
***** Japanese junkyards have a load of old American sheet metal.
In Denmark we just have small crappy cars :(
Come to America and get yourself a muscle car! :D
I love how they complain about it overheating and then do a massive burnout right after they cool it down! lol
+Adam Cooper it wasnt though
+Pizzabot 4523 Um, like 5 seconds later it was steaming
It wasn't
i know right!! lolllllll
after watching a couple of ''shows'' I think it's about money [sponsors, advertising etc. ]Do they REALLY care about those saved autos demonstrating thrashing the old engines trannys ????
Wow, how am I just finding this show now? Amazing stuff. Like others have said, this is better than any car show on TV right now.
The dog should be a permanent member of the roadkill crew.
IV WakeTheDead shes dead :(
your dogs pissing on a smartcar
lost my shit at that part
That last few seconds is one of those reminders of how awesome being a dad is.
Lol you throw $200,000 or $300,000 at it, you'll have a $20,000 automobile!
Benjamin Kenney that car worth alot
Yup!

just watching all the old roadkill episodes. It seems like yesterday when this one came out and i was watching it. hard to believe it's been 3+ years. it's like new material again. enjoying it
I'm 56 years old and that kid with the 50' Pontiac is my hero !
THAT is the kids first car....OKAY FUCK the UK I'm moving to America
Yea, my first tuck was and is a 1972 gmc 2500 Sierra with a factory 402, and of course a 700R4 transmission. Here in America if you grow up in the correct group it is your right of passage to own an awesome vehicle for your first.
linglingjr Because that makes total sense :D
linglingjr ...I hate you so much right now... not the furry thing. the car thing >.>
Seriously England fucking sucks for cars.
And as for furries being fucked up we raised over 20 thousand euros for an animal rescue charity at a convention I was at recently.
+Siggy Cloud Britainland has some nice cars that we don't get though. All those Cosworth Escorts from like the 60s to present day, the Alfas, some of the Lotus-es, many more I forgot off the top. I wouldn't say they suck for cars, but what do I know, I don't live there. xD
+Siggy Cloud My first car was a 1967 Ford Fairlane
One of my favourite episodes just passed five million views, these guys have made history with what they've achieved.
Super cool looking Merc. And it was great to see the dad and his kid so happy to receive it too.
Father & son projects FTW
Roadkill is by far their best online show. You got to love that dog. It kind of reminds me of Spuds Mackenzie.
I cried a little at the end when the kid was so happy. Makes me miss the good old days
+Spookabunny Jones I tear up everytime I get a car to run and drive. you sacrifice time and money to make a car a car.
onion cutting ninjas...they're sneaky I tell you
If you like debating on the internet car community, LISTEN to the end of this video. It's all about making your car to make you happy, not impressing your friends.
Sounds like something a civic or Miata owner would say
+Marlin Kleber truuueee
Your average civic owner at least isn't compensating for anything.
yah. civics are just for people who dont know shit about cars and want a stock car thats not bad
Car snobs suck. Run what you brung. Build what you can afford.
Dog is awesome.

Thanks Matt
mattmopar440
Damn, I just watched the episode. That's kind of heartbreaking man. That dog was awesome.
I wish this series was actually on tv with hour long episodes every week. I absolutely love it
Okay, I love this show. I can't get enough. Much better than most TV programming. Motor Trend needs a Roku channel!
Make sure to always do the Burnout Test Before the Brake Test. Priorities. Jus Sayin'. lol
Lol
hey I have a 1996 chevy I dont what no more call if u what to see it 3127789623
Manuel Lopw DONT EVER PUT YOUR PHONE NUMBER IN THE COMMENTS AGAIN!, you should delete your comment please....
Josh E why do you even care?
Josh E I want to know why
the end was good, father and son in their hot rod awesome
how is that a hot rod..my first car a stock 1.6l civic was faster
Hotrod isn't speed Chad, and he just mixed Hotrod with Kustom
After growing up in San Jose, I recognized a few streets and freeway stretches. So cool to have seen this Merc rolling down 101
Found you guy's because i was watching a movie. And remembering why a certain truck reminded me of a car from another movie. I came across this channel becuase of the thumbnail. And the merc is one of my fav cars. I don't own a hot rod. But I've always loved them.
Holy hell, Finnegan, your wife drives an El Camino?
I think it's more of a "he drives it all the time but her name's on the title" kind of thing. Because if you'll notice from other episodes, Finn and his family live in Georgia, but the Elco's always in Cali. So I'm pretty sure it's just the car he drives when he's in California doing MT stuff.
Alex Gambino? Seriously? He even LOOKS like mafia boss Carlo.
paul greenwood gn
I have been here a year and a half and had no idea about this Hot Rod Ranch place. It's kinda cool seeing y'all go around all these places I see on a daily basis!
I just realized, that Roadkill is conceptually kind of like Top Gear's "silly-funny" segment, but it is amazingly amusing and funny, I can't seem to stop smiling all the time watching the episodes
You America's have it sorted when it comes to cars and driving while young.
At 17, my first car was a £300 1.3 Ford Ka, kicking out a massive 66bhp. Insured for £3000 a year and putting £60 of petrol and £10 of oil in every week.
I got pulled off police all the fucking time to check my car out and see if everything was legal. I dunno how the road kill guys get away with it.
You American's really don't know how good you have it when it comes to motors.
+Mashmarriner69 - A Ford Ka was your first car? Sorry to hear that. We do have it better here
Joseph Summers yep.
My cousin who lives in Boston, Massachusetts. At 16 years old. Is driving a 3.0 V6 Toyota Camry. Yea, it isn't the fastest V6 car about, but there is no way in hell could a 17 year old (let alone 16, because it isn't legal lol) be able to get insured on something like that in the UK.
I'm 23 and still finding it hard to get cheap Insurance on a 2.0 TDI lmao.
My first car was a Ford Escort Cosworth. cost me £900 and insurance was dirt cheap at only £1000 Third Party Fire and Theft.
was a cracking little car.
I have a friend that has an old school mustang he's same age as me and I'm so jealous as it's one of my fave cars along with the original Charger.
+Termi atleast it wasn't a 69 Chevy you bought and restored completely. I still get nervous about whether I got this bolt or that bolt right when I drive. Or if I should've changed the rear engine seal while I had it out last 😂
Termi sounds good. Must be one of the lucky ones lmao.
Past few years it's gotten alot worse for insurance. Talking to some of the apprentices at work they are paying silly amounts for insurance on 1 litres and 1.2s.
This country is a joke for car insurance.
Roadkill is on Netflix now
And only 10 episodes.
You guys rock, helping out the Fans at every turn. A show for the people
That's a good dog, passing on a smart fortwo deserves some praise.
dog is more famous than me. I lose at life.
+PunchingMegaTree you are incorrect her legacy will live on
Pooooooooop
It Sucks to Be YOU.!! hahahah.
Lol ikr
Suck to be you to😂😂😂😂😂
it's a 50's Mercury, on a Chevelle frame, with Indiana truck plates, all in California.
The original owner knew he couldnt get the car to run. But with Freibuger and Finnegan there was a chance. Great vid guys!
Holy crap! @14:20 ish, you guys just answered a question I had about my 1955' Chevy build. Thanks for the lesson on the master cylinder!
Here I am watching Roadkill taking a break from my project and I get a nagging issue answered.
22:09 i literally fell out of my computer chair laughing so hard.....come to find out i leaned back so far in my laugh, that i broke the chairs leg!! lol, thanks roadkill!
Great ending, I loved every second Dad and I spent in the garage together when I was a kid. Great father son bonding and right of passage :)
I grew up in the era of '49 thru '51 Merc rods. Flat heads with suicide knobs and lakes pipes... Yeah Buddy! Great show, dudes.
20:40 and dog is genuinely chilling....
I miss roadkill dog.
It is indeed the chunkiest of pibbles.
I think it’s dead
Rostabagga - unfortunately
The roadkill dog died sadly
Miya sadly passed away years ago
Great to finally see an American show that's been produced with the more intelligent viewer in mind, and not for douchebags with the attention span of a squirrel with learning difficulties. No heavy metal music, or cutting to a different camera angle every 2.5 seconds, plus the two presenters are clearly a couple of normal, smart, levelheaded guys. Great programme, i'm hooked. Cheers guys.
Kudos to you for letting that dog keep the ears and tail with which it was born!!!!!! And thanks for the videos.
My first car was a 2001 VW Beetle. That kid is so lucky. Meanwhile I be rollin' round with my 1.9 liter, four cylinder, turbo diesel. At least it sounds pretty cool, and hey-- 90 horse power, that's right. Lol
I love my little bug. Yea it is a bit of a turd, but that thing handles amazing! It's my little sports car.
***** Yeah even though true, fast turboed cars would scoff, you _can_ feel the boost kick in, and it's pretty cool. Though it's only turboed because without it, the engine would suck even more than it already does. It's 0-60 is around 10 seconds after all, but yeah it's not a bad car. Mine has seen better days though. Hit an ice block that flew off of a semi, cracked the front bumper in half, and wrecked the radiator. It's been driving around with one fog light, and half a front bumper for a couple years now. Don't get me started on the interior. Lol
Sculpture Junkie Mine was a 60 Studebaker Hawk... and that kid obviously has a cool mom!
Sculpture Junkie at least you have a turbo right? haha
UrAvgGamer Right, haha.
Love the Roadkill shows. Freiburger and Finnegan are the best thing on RUclips
Brotherhood of Street Racers
Best part of this episode... the smile on the kids face at the end!
Dog is the most interesting thing about the episode
The dog was funny as hell, should bring her more often.
Best sounding El Camino I've heard yet!
Gambino is definitely in the Sicilian Gambino clan.
RIP Bika (The Dog)..
That is one of the most chill pit bulls I've ever seen. And the Merc is pimp as all get out!
The Merc went from having Indiana plates in one scene and then California plates just two scenes later. LOL
I miss this show and I wish it would come back, so many good times and memories. 😂
LOL the guy at 10:15 with the I love coitus shirt
ElCaminos are very popular in California. You see 1958-1977 driving all around, beat-up, with lawnmowers hanging out the back, during any typical weekday. They love 'em out there. Good work horse...
My neighbor used to have an 84 Calla.....whatever the fuck the GMC Elco clone was. Didn't run very good; the 307 had some rocker troubles. But that didn't matter for long, since within a year after buying it, he hydroplaned it into a center divider. Sold it to some Mexicans for eight grand and got a Tacoma.
twotailedavenger ha! Yeah I think it was called the 'Sprint' when GMC.. Eight grand!
nowitsabadtime But the Tacoma he got is the X-Runner sport pack, and has a 2JZ out of a Supra. The only thing that truck hauls is ass.
twotailedavenger cabellero was the 70s and 80s gmc elcamino
@@twotailedavenger But I thought you were from Japan though, seems like you're contradicting one of your comments above this one in the video.
This may be the best episode of roadkill..
and is any on watching in 2018?

+SnowGo---V12 Fascinating....
first truck was a 89 ford ranger with a super impressive v4, but i busted my ass all summer working and mowing yards and now a i own a 68 mustang coupe with a v8 302, holly 4v, edelbrock intake manifold, glasspack mufflers, and a pristine interior.

Thanks for a great Q & A show guys... t'was awesome! Please do more of 'em...PLEASE! My 4 year old grandson loves you guys!!!
I cannot believe you guys were in the dennys parkinglot right next to the fairgrounds i live down the street I will cherish that burnout in the parking lot forever!!!
Roadkill n' Chill
Who else is sick of these 30 second long camry ads?
They suck like the car
Keep up the shows guys, can't stop watching.
23:35 remind me so much of my childhood, it brought a tear to my eye...
It looks real nice over there in Cali. these guys that do these projects..master class work. i was painting cars and some trucks 23 years. mainly preparation, sanding and finish and polishing. mixing colors of all sorts. pearls candy's and so forth . SO IF HAD THE CHANCE TO DO SOME WORK FOR SOMEONE.. ON SOME PROJECTS. I AM SURE I CAN DO SOME NICE WORK TOO. yeah i would welcome the chance to have some creative ideas. to work for some of these masters over in California. or even the smaller body shops would suit me fine. thanks a very good program.
Roadkill seriously needs its own channel 😋
I still love this car , been done for 2 years now and still lots of fun
Who ever is doing the music in this show is on point!
