Have watched this channel for over a year now. I was never into classic or vintage cars but now i just go nuts for them. I don't think there are many people my age (16) that appreciate these cars but one day i will build a collection. Hopefully!
Asif Noaman thats really cool, I've always like vauxhalls but we don't get them where I live. The vxr is the more performance based edition right? Have fun with it, be safe!
I'd like to take another opportunity here to say THANK YOU to Hagerty for all the great programming you all provide. I always knew you were a great insurance company (I've been a customer for years) as well as an obvious friend of the hobby, but these shows are yet another feather in your cap. Merry Christmas to all my fellow car nuts and prayers for peace in the new year! -Ed on the Ridge
7.0 litre, four-on-the-floor Ford wagon goes 1k miles regularly, way to go Tom! Nice collection & all in reasonable/restorable condition. I imagine the current caretaker won't have much trouble finding new homes! Thx Tom & Hagerty.
I found a 1971 Buick GS Stage One 14 years ago and I didn’t finally get my hands on it till two months ago. It sat for a total of 38-40 years. I am currently rebuilding it on my channel. Unfortunately I was in rough shape and the previous owner butchered it but I am determined to but this Beauty back on the road
I had a buddy who was in love with BuicksGrand Sports he had one with I think a 455 he stepped hard on it 1 night messing around the thing had so much torque it tore the body away from the frame and it was riding with part of the tank and trunk riding over the back tire. That thing for sure was a sleeper it looked a little like a skylark I'm not sure it was either a 1970 71.real nice cars a lot of people know nothing about .At the time I owned a 1970 Chevelle ss 396 He'd take me off the line easy
I used to work all over the country including rural Virginia for USDA. Have hauled home over 200 vehicles from farms and barns I have visited. They are out there, some real gems. Hauled home 3 VW pickups. Thank God for people like this.
Total respect for the Holman and Moody jacket. My 66 Mustang engine was rebuilt by them and I toured their shop on the west side of Charlotte. Great score on this find and best of luck on the sales. I love that 64 365C!!!
Tom you're not a very old guy and the knowledge that you have amassed about almost every make of car is amazing. Very nice video & I hope he finds buyers that will cleanup & or restore these cars. This country has many more barn finds just waiting for you to find.
Car collectors are everywhere. My uncle has several buildings full of cars, and he also collected every motor, transmission, and rear end from all the old muscle cars that he could get a hold of. My first car was a 1969 Chevy Impala 2dr. custom coupe with a 396 big block turbo 400 trans, and had the positrack rear end. I traded the motor, tranny, and rear end out of that car for another 1969 Impala red with a white vinyl top and the slotted mag wheels that had a 327 small block. He still has the 36 ford coupe hotrod he drove in high school. Corvettes and a 68 Camaro convertible basket case he restored from the ground up. His side business was upholstery so all his projects got brand new interiors. Seeing what he has collected over the years leads me to believe there are a whole lot of treasure troves of cars and parts sitting all over the US. Hagerty will have plenty more episodes to give us in the future.
You know you're getting old when you remember all the classics in one episode as new! Great collection - the guy's doing the right thing and should earn a fortune !making sure "They all go to a good home"!! Better than rotting away for another 25 years I suppose like some guys do in the mistaken ambition that one day they will put them all back on the road. The 633 BMW was my favourite!
When I was 12 there was what we called an “Elliot Ness” car, a Ford with running boards stuck inside an abandoned garage, I am constantly reminded of it when I see videos like this, keep up the good work guys👍
When I was a kid there was a 93 uh Cadillac sedan DeVille grey on grey on grey with red interior. I saw it every single day walking to the bus stop. The fiberglass was cracked in the bumper was held on with wood screws but otherwise it was complete and clean but it always reminded me of a cheap suit. There was a 64-66 lime green Ford galaxie on Jacks... The clean dark green NB Miata... W10 MR2 in red, on I think it was BBS rims or OZ or Eenki... It always looked like some supercar
I don't know why I watch this. I just end up salivating. My favourite cars tend to go out the window a bit in this day and age because its simply appreciating an era of cars that we'll never see again & each in its own right becomes priceless due to the scarcity & difficulty to locate short of bucketloads of money. So yup, really I love this channel but so envious at times. I hate the idea of any of the cars they come across not being saved.
OMG!!!...l needed a bib to watch this episode. This is the ultimate barn find dream come true for me...all l'd need is few rare Pontiacs in the mix and life would be complete.Thank You Tom for this episode.🖒🖒🖒
We need more Mike's in this World. Makes me want to buy my next Ford from him!! I have to say, the Collector did a GREAT job!! I have an 80' 911SC Targa so I Loved the Porsches, ALL of them. My mechanic has an 83' VW RABBIT TRUCK AND AN 84' RABBIT GTI. His Grandfather completes their mini collection with an 82' Diesel Truck!
My folks had a Daimler SP 250 (Dart). My mother used to squeeze herself in when heavily pregnant with me and drive like a banshee. I remember it in the early 70s. So many, terrifying, stories.
The Porsche numbering/naming system is enough to drive you crazy. I think car models should have names and not just a few numbers. At any rate, that collection was awesome. Tom does it again.
I drive 4 hours to Reedville and 4hrs back every week to care for my mother. Unpopulated and lots of farms. Surprised to see this. Got me excited! Thanks.
I also have an original OBS Ford. Well, other than the Caterpillar diesel in it, the Allison trans, the lift, the 2011 Dash, the brand new interior, upgraded brakes.... Other than that, its stock. I love how Tom appreciates everything with an engine
The 280 SL - the brake master cylinder, NOT the vacuum booster is missing. Thank you Tom for digging ALL Automobiles 👍 I raced Bikes at The Bridge 1973 till its closing. Great times 🏁
This is just great! Two of the nicest guys, having a whale of a time, exploring a fantastic collection of cars. Some of those Porsche cars from the 1980's don't look outdated, and I kept thinking, if I had the chance, yes that's the one I would buy, only to change my mind a bit later! Most of them seemed to have kept well, it was hard to realize that some of them are between 40 and 60 years old. Thanks for a great video.
So informative.. It is so nice to listen to someone who knows his business to the Max.. Your Cameraman did an excellent job. The camera wasn’t all over the place like most videos. Hang on to him (or her).. I’m subscribed.. Thank You for making all this available to us..
I keep coming back to this episode at 29:47 as I managed to purchase the black Porsche 911 with the M491 'Turbo Look' option from the Virginia buyer who brought it back to life. It is an amazingly original car, and absolutely everything works correctly on it. Once the seats were refreshed, wheels replaced and brakes and fuel lines sorted this car just drives like it was new, a fun time capsule from when I was a kid and dreamt of having one 😂
Great episode! A note: The BMW 633CSi in the video is an E24 model (1976-1989) which included the 635CSi and the original M6 versions. It was penned by the french designer Paul Bracq. Karmann built the first few, but BMW eventually took over production. The 2800/3.0CS/3.0CSi (1968-1975) you mentioned is the E9 model (all were built by Karmann) Wilhelm Hofmeister was the designer. Both are beautiful coupes, but the older E9 is a "true" coupe with no B-pillar. The lightweight 3.0CSL "Lightweight" is the most desirable and was the version used for racing.
Omg it is heaven I was not expecting this amazing what people have in the garages when you love what you do ❤the conditions of these vehicles thank you for sharing the experience with us we would never have the chance to see cars like this if it wasn't for what you do thanks again from London
21:26 The Jaguar is an S-Type, a completely different model from the slightly smaller (body-wise) MkII. There was also a Daimler version called the Sovereign introduced later..
Sovereign...XJ6 kinda front. S type rear. The S type wasn't as popular as the Mk2, but much nicer to drive with its IRS and improved ventilation. The S type still used Mk 2 doors.
Absolutely fantastic video, makes me wish I had kept the cars I have owned over the years, when I didn't have the appreciation for what I had and how much they would be appreciated now.
I am biased the Ponton is one I'd love to own. I already have a ponton 220a and have owned a couple of 220S's. A very much under rated car and a better drive than the next model ,the Fintails. I see another Ponton too, a 190 ? .BTW the 190SL was a sedan with a fancy dress 😊. The Jag 3.8S has a E type style diff with the mk10 style rear body. The BMW 633 with five speed is a rare car today too. I've had a 628 (!) and a M6 from the sublime to almost ridiculous. The Mercedes W114 Coupe in the other shed is nice from what i can see but they Do Rust!. Very much so in fact. I have repaired a few of them for clients where whole floor sections had to be changed. Firewalls rust and you can only see the rust if you look up under the dash.
My dad had a Rabbit diesel pickup with a shell. Manual trans - white paint. Also, the bodies on the BMW 633 were also built by Karmann and then shipped to BMW for assembly.
I drive an 18 wheeler l9ng haul across most of north america n the stuff i see just from the highway would blow ur mind. Sure, travelling the back roads to find stuff is fun but not really needed
Whoever the collector was he liked about anything with a good motor, i think i spotted some old honda mopeds on a high shelf, those things were fun, good to see this stuff not rusting away
Had one....MAKE SURE there is NO RUST ON THE FRONT FRAME other wise your wheel will tilt in and your engine will begin to come through the frame and scrape the ground.. NO KIDDING. THese caddy's are available on ebay you know. They are fun I had an 1982 and was GLAD to get rid of it. Problematic little fukkers they are. Be advised
@@tommaika9121 Thank you for the tip. I'm a welder and a fabricator. Fixing or reinforcing wouldn't be a problem. Here in New England most are all rotted out beyond repair, if you can find one that is.
Babylon falling I own an 80s ford and can tell you it’s well know that they weren’t designed to last they were designed to rust to make you buy a new car. The wiring looms are nowhere near built to the standard of modern day cars and are held together with old tape. Yes modern cars have loads of electronics that fail but most of the time it’s just a warning light on the dash. I like classics but I would never want to drive one every day the automotive industry has come along way in terms of economy, safety and comfort whether that’s for the better is debatable.
@@louisgreenleaf235 that is so true. While we complain about how flimsy they are, modern cars are better designed, better protected and have double the life span of a classic car. Babylon falling, are you comparing classic cars that have been restored? I have owned many cars from the 60's and 70's and while I love the styling and the simplicity of working on them, they simply can't hold a candle to modern vehicles in build quality and ride.
I almost purchased the Volkswagen GTI while overseas in the Army in 1984... I ended up extending my overseas commitment for another year. It was the exact model and color that you have here in this video.
Miss my 84 and 92 GTi's. Restoring them, I would reweld the strut mounts, install big strut braces, urethane rear motor mounts, bigger vented brakes (rear discs in the 84), upgrade and protect the wiring, waterproof the fuse box, rewelf & strengthen the pedal box, upgrade the clutches, better headlights, install the fog lights (the mounts are factory, they were intended to have fog lights) and redo the exhausts (loved the rorty growly sounds). Oh, and keep the 84 black star wheels and 92 turbo wheels.
My sis cleaned pot in North. CA for money. SHe walked into a VW dealer in FT BRagg, paid cash for Black '84 5 speed. It was a quik one. She died a few years later. My mom ended up with it. It burned up alternators for some reason.Only flaw.
In 1976 Honda came out with the hatchback Accord, it had head gasket problems, but in later years they were resolved, and that car was very fast, for what it was...my 1979 5 spd. always Cruised safely and in control at 80 mph...fyi
That is quite a nice acquisition of cars. I would want to keep them all. A friend of mine drove a Karmann Ghia and upgraded to a 1961 Porsche Cabriolet. It was a beautiful car. This was in 1966. I hope she still has it.
You should have done a part two on this one Tom. Would love to have seen the whole collection. Watching from Australia where we can't find collections like these, sooo jealous …
Oh I know..Tom was struggling with what year it was...I'm yelling 67! 67'!!!! To a bug fanatic, every year has unmistakeable traits! I hope she goes to a good home..I fell in love with it!!
We should all take a moment to thank the man who assembled this collection and say a prayer for his family through his illness.
Yeah its Kimmel better to pray to Santa claus, a better chance of being answered, those other creeps don't care
@@bradzimmerman3171 I don’t believe in religion but why hate if it helps a person better themselves good for them.

Thanks Ed. Well said and I concur. Love this channel and everything Hagerty and Tom Cotter stand for. Bless you Ed. Chuck in NE Kansas
It's content not programming. Programming is what the propagandists at the major media networks put out.
This is a great channel not only the content but I really enjoy Tom he makes it more enjoyable
7.0 litre, four-on-the-floor Ford wagon goes 1k miles regularly, way to go Tom! Nice collection & all in reasonable/restorable condition. I imagine the current caretaker won't have much trouble finding new homes! Thx Tom & Hagerty.
No woman would ever drive THAT to the grocery store though... then again....maybe that's a GOOD THING. lol

Really loved seeing the watercooled VWs (Caddys, Rabbits, GTIs). Love this stuff! 43 minute episode to boot!
CADDYS!!
A 43 minute video from hagerty? Let's roll!
I used to work all over the country including rural Virginia for USDA. Have hauled home over 200 vehicles from farms and barns I have visited. They are out there, some real gems. Hauled home 3 VW pickups. Thank God for people like this.
Wow...this has got to be the coolest, most eclectic collection you've found so far. I'm blown away.
Nice euro crap
Wow, what a stash! Thanks Tom and the crew for sharing so many European models. One of the best episodes of the decade!
Best thing about this episode was your kick ass wagon and that vintage mini hemi.
Tom,

Same.
Old farms all over the Midwest , a lot of them have at least something cool in them

Nice Show! ,,you find the greatest cars,my eyes are bleeding,
some much beautyful cars! thanks for showing!
WOW! WOW! WOW! words just fail me...
Whoever the collector was he liked about anything with a good motor, i think i spotted some old honda mopeds on a high shelf, those things were fun, good to see this stuff not rusting away
I would pick up that diesel VW pickup in a heart beat. I LOVE those little trucks.
This was great but more important is you bought that wagon. WOW. Sweet. Congratulations 🥳
New "throw away" vehicles dont hold a candle to Old Classic Vehicles
Modern cars are built to last longer than classics
Babylon falling I own an 80s ford and can tell you it’s well know that they weren’t designed to last they were designed to rust to make you buy a new car. The wiring looms are nowhere near built to the standard of modern day cars and are held together with old tape. Yes modern cars have loads of electronics that fail but most of the time it’s just a warning light on the dash. I like classics but I would never want to drive one every day the automotive industry has come along way in terms of economy, safety and comfort whether that’s for the better is debatable.
not in collectability!! 1969 vs 2016
'Newer' cars dont last longer then this olds. It depends by
the storage conditions and, what brand you try to save.
I miss my rabbit gti! Seeing these makes me want one again. Also i had a diesel rabbit 🐇.
I'm restoring an MK1 GTI. They are awesome cars!
@@RadoMatt good luck with the restoration. I keep my MK1 until the strut towers rusted through. I miss my go kart car.
Great episode Tom, Merry Christmas from Australia!
That is quite a nice acquisition of cars. I would want to keep them all. A friend of mine drove a Karmann Ghia and upgraded to a 1961 Porsche Cabriolet. It was a beautiful car. This was in 1966. I hope she still has it.
I'm probably the only one that likes the early 1990s honda accord on the lift
No i have one. Well my family has a few. My yard looks like a honda dealership.
My dad had a 1981 VW Rabbit diesel pickup in the mid 1980's!😁 Learned to drive on that and his 74 Vega GT hatchback!😁 Both manual transmissions!😁
Dime-lar?....lol...a new one to go with Nee-sarn, Dart-sun, Jag-warr, Mars-dah..... that all raced at Le-Marr

You should have done a part two on this one Tom. Would love to have seen the whole collection. Watching from Australia where we can't find collections like these, sooo jealous …
Cleanup the Ford F150 and it in the showroom. Amazing find you guys, loved it.
I was there today. A Sunbeam Tiger is just inside the door!
I had one just like it. First gear was a granny low. Had to start in 2nd unless towing. Miss that ride.
Love, love LOVE the Java Green, 67' VW bug with beige leatherette interior...BEST year EVER!!! I'll take that in oh 1 second..lol
Todd, as soon as I saw the overriders, I thought: ‘67. Sweet car, I hope it is minimally refreshed.
Oh I know..Tom was struggling with what year it was...I'm yelling 67! 67'!!!! To a bug fanatic, every year has unmistakeable traits! I hope she goes to a good home..I fell in love with it!!
The best barn find ever, is when someone finds A rare and valuable missing barn.
Man that wagon might just be the greatest car ever. I had a ‘68 Squire with the 390 no 4-speed and 428. Awesome awesome awesome
