This needs an update, I fly a Mustang Alpha and the inventory is accessible from inside the freight space. Lower the cargo container, open it, crouch walk inside. Now open your inventory. You will find tabs for personal inventory and vehicle inventory, on landing pads or on the most remote moons in snow outside the bunkers, even in zero g, it works. You can unload your backpack and carried weapons into the vehicle tab. You can also drop packages and hand carriable containers inside there too. Then close it up, raise the cargo container, everything stays where you left it. I was really regretting pledging for a mustang based on videos like this until I played around with my Alpha variant, having just started playing in the last few weeks it took a few days to figure out the functionality of the cargo space. Gotta say, big fan now because yes, it is very nice to fly in combat, packs a solid punch, the only real downside is the lack of a bed.

      @redbee5741 Год назад +2

The mustang is absolutly amazing, tout can actually store so much in it despite it's small size.
There is the regular storage you can access on the ladder, the cargo under the ship is pretty nice too (you can transport your friends inside also) and the space behind the seat lets you actually store a bunch of things if you use the mutli tool with tractor beam. (I drop mostly bodies there, to loot later)
It's a lot of fun, it only lacks a bed and thicker walls for it's cargo because some items tends to slip through the walls.

One thing I rarely (if ever) hear mentioned is the convenience of ramp vs ladder: on these smaller ships, if they have a 'ramp' you can run onboard, drop your box and quickly get to the cockpit. With ladders you have to faff around a lot more, and climbing ladders is slow - which is fine if you like catching bullets with your back :)
For me the Avenger Titan is my first choice, followed by the 100i (which has shallow steps rather than a ramp), then the Pisces. The Titan is well ahead of this pack, and the 100i only edges ahead of the Pisces due to its bed.
Every now and then I think about getting one of the 300 series but that ladder and pannier combination is just too inconvenient for those moments when you need to vacate expeditiously... .

Then last year they offered the Titan Renegade in Warbond, I could not say no and so I bought it.. The Titan is now my everyday ship for deliveries, light bounties, investigation missions and transport to bunker missions. Titan is a great ship.

    • @Restilia_ch

When I started in SC back in 2015 I loved the Mustang. Even with the rework that got rid of the Hobbins Hole it's incredibly sad just how badly the model has been left behind.

So many ships from back then need gold-standard but the main problem is so many more features are planned even the ships recently released (and yet to release, keep an eye on the Corsair!) that they'd only have to go back and update them again... When most of these older, 'first generation' ships from way back have already had minor to major updates at least once if not more that it's just wasted dev time...
still take five minutes to just right click delete the struts in the Connie's window, though. I can live with just a hole there 'till the atmo-update, just let me see out please, CIG!

There is some things I wanted to mention about the Pisces that make it a better starter ship than what you covered. It is the smallest starter ship in overall dimensions and so fits in more ships than any of the others. This means that when you get those large ships you already have a small transport ship that can fit in them. It’s small size means it also can land in places the other ships can’t. Even right up to the doorsteps of outposts and pads. Out of all the starter ships on this list, the Pisces is the one I keep using even after I got the monocle and top hat. It is the perfect runabout for Star Citizen that I still use after the other starter ships have been melted.

The C.O. Nomad is honestly one of my new favorite ships in the game overall. It's like a mini Cutlass in terms of being a jack of all trades, and the truck bed is just so easy and convenient to use. And since it's a starter, it's claim time is around 45 seconds. So you don't have to keep spending 2000-3000 aUEC and several minutes waiting to get it again every time you blow it up or want to move it to a different location.
My personal recommendation is to buy one of the smaller, less expensive ships to start, and work your way up to buying the Nomad with earnable, in-game credits (aUEC). It costs just under 1 million, which sounds like a lot for a new player but, I promise you it really isn't once you get into the swing of things.

    • @JoaKimzen

Yeah the nomad is great since it can do a lot of stuff. I personally use the Nomad as a secondary ship with the ROC to mine rocks. There is a downside with using the Nomad for this though, it runs out of fuel really quick, especially in atmo.

    • @ScabbyMcKniel
      @ScabbyMcKniel 2 года назад

@@JoaKimzen If you fly decoupled in atmo its much, much more efficient. You can do some cool stuff wit the gear in atmo as well - seems to provide a bit of lift, even 1000m+ above the surface. (This isn't unique to it, i find the same thing in the 325a, nomad just looks cooler lol). I refuelled once after 2 and a half ROC mining runs, popping in to security places as well. Also helps tone down the noise in the cockpit, since the retros are right by your head and they'll fire almost non-stop in coupled mode. Latest patch hasn't changed fuel efficiency but atmo flying feels a LOT smoother, especially low flying.

But same, I hope that when SQ42 will be out they will start by standard golding all starters and make an event like a dedicated IAE in pyro, with only starter ships from all manufacturers. That would be happening at the same time of the big iae, but it would just present affordable ships for people wanting to get off pyro. It would be good also to see a starter from drake to complete the lineup.

    • @the_omg3242

I think the very last thing CIG will do with the game is update the starter ships.
Starter ships have a low price to pull people into the game, and poor specs which makes people want to move on to a better ship once they decide they like the game. Having them somewhat broken simply speed the process of pushing new players into buying a more expensive ship. CIG doesn't WANT people to be happy flying a starter ship. They want people to try and grind for a better ship then just decide to spend real money to buy one. Selling ships is how they make most of their money.
Also, if it comes to a choice between spending time to gold standard an expensive ship like a Freelancer, Cutlass, or 600i, or spending time to upgrade a starter ship, they're going to improve the better ships since that's where the money is.
The best players can hope for is a gold standard pass on starter ships when they've run out of all other work on the game.

There is a point you have forgotten about the Nomad is that once the cargo system will be updated, the cargo bay on the nomad will be equipped with a tractor beam, which will allow the player to load and unload the cargo rapidly at compared to other ships. If someone wants to make a fast shipping ship once it drops, it will be that one.

Unfortunately that's purely speculation. All we really know for sure is that at bare minimum the tech will be implemented, which doesn't at all mean that there will be any attached functionality to it or even supporting systems ready in 3.18. Ship tractor beams fall into that supporting systems category, and I would guess the chance of that making it into 3.18 is very remote.

Larger size of guns(less total though)
      Slight handling advantages
      Reliant series cons:

Something need mentioning is that the Aurora MR and Pisces both fit nicely in a snub hangar(Carrack) while the 100i needs to angle in to fit. For the Mustang, it needs to utilize more of the rear of the cockpit and have an option to enter to the rear to bring mission boxes aboard easily as with some sort of physicalized storage(weapon, suit, other lockers). I do find the Titan to be the best overall starter and that the Outland is just to expensive to be worth while. It was also not mentioned that the Outlands will have a ship based tractor beam in the future that none of the others have. Nice Vid

  • @VestedUTuber
    @VestedUTuber 2 года назад

    Ok, my thoughts:
Aurora MR: Honestly, there's not much else to be said about this ship. You pretty much nailed it.
Mustang: I agree that the Alpha is a terrible starter ship unless you're doing combat (then it becomes the go-to budget starter). However, this ship gets a bit of a trick up its sleeve when you consider upgrades - the Beta. The Mustang Beta trades its cargo rack out for a camper van style interior, giving the player access to an internal inventory at the expense of locking them out of trading kiosks. However, this tradeoff is mostly beneficial, since cargo trading isn't very profitable at such low capacities unless you're carrying low-volume, high-value goods anyway. My suggestion for Mustang fans is to get the Alpha, try a basic trading run (the AV run is a good choice if you have the credits to invest in it) and if you decide cargo runs aren't for you, immediately upgrade to the Beta and don't look back. If you decide to get back into cargo running later down the road, the light multicrew ships (Cutlass, 'Lancer, etc.) are honestly better picks for this role and make great second ships.
C8X: If you know you're going to do cargo trading, this is your budget option. But like I said when talking about the Mustang, if you really want to do trading, you want something a bit bigger than a runabout. Hauling cargo as your main job in a starter ship is like racing in an Idris - it doesn't really work.
100i: This ship honestly reminds me of when the 300i used to be considered a starter ship, and it really is what the 300i used to be before it got beefed up.
Avenger: I remember when this ship was still new. This was the bugmobile - it would explode if you looked at it funny while on the pad, it would bounce around in the hangar, it was easy to clip into or get stuck inside, etc. I really like how far this ship has come.
Nomad: I have to agree - just get a Cutlass Black or a Freelancer at this point. The Cutty will outperform it in every way and the Freelancer packs a bigger punch and carries over two and a half times the cargo, while also adding multicrew support. The Nomad is a good ship on paper but a terrible value. Also, is it just me or does this thing look like it came straight out of Elite Dangerous?
One other ship to mention: the Cutlass Black. Yes, I know it's not really considered a starter ship by CIG and it's above $100. But it checks all the boxes of what a starter ship needs to do while outperforming all of them in some if not all categories. It can do cargo running with an actually profitable capacity. It can do salvage and looting with tons of space. It handles like a fighter, albeit a heavy one, and has a high top speed in both space and atmosphere. It has solid combat capabilities. Its range is good enough to do a round-trip from Crusader to microTech. It can even carry up to four passengers provided they're willing to sit in the turret, copilot seat or beds. AND it can multicrew. If you have the money for any of the higher-priced starters, just get this instead.

I'll agree the Titan is def the best starter ship, assuming it's the only ship you're gonna have. It was what I started with, it served me well with bounty hunting, was a great ship. But being one who likes luxury, I eventually upgraded to the 325a. This way I have a ship that's okay for starter combat and gives me my luxury, while I have another for carrying a ROC, and acts as a flying apartment.
In the end tho, everyone should remember, all packages can be traded in for store credit (melting as people refer to it), so you can then upgrade or downgrade and use leftover cash towards other stand alone ships, etc, at any time. You always have to have at least one starter pack to play ofc, but it's a very useful system.

Correct. The best starter ship is the Avenger Titan.
1- it claims in 45 seconds. A very important point when it’s your only ship. Non starter ships takes 10+ mn.
2- standard dual shields, coolers, powers.
3- extremely resistant to damage. Your can sheer off the wings and tail and still end the fight. Unlike the 325a.
    4- decent firepower. 2x Size 3 and 1x Size 4. And size 3 missiles.
5- a bed to log off.
6- dirt cheap to fix and recharge.
7- two access to get in and out. Front ladder and back ramp. This is more important than you think.
8- can do : combat up to “Very High Risk Targets”. Carry hand held cargo, box missions, looting from wrecks, manual mining, combat bunkers, hover bike, manual medical or actual high value cargo up to 8 “Standard Container Unit”.
You want options for your starting ship. You want a money maker for a starter ship, so that you need not pay real money for any other ships. You want a ship that is fun and playable regardless of any other ships you own.
Note: the aurora’s cargo is external, severely limiting it’s use.
Note 2: you can “upgrade” any ship to a higher value ship. So you can try a lower value starting pack and pay the difference to upgrade it to avenger titan. This is irreversible. Do not upgrade your starter into a non starter. Those claim delays will get to you.
Note 3: the MISC Kore is a multiplayers starter ship with 6 SCU but has not bed. Also the Kore is classed as an alien ship, meaning it’s only available for real money acquisition a few days every year if at all. That’s the reason Morphologist does not mention it.

I've had every one of these ships in my hangar at one point or another. Still have a couple of them. The Origin 100i is awesome. It handles wonderfully, it could fly forever while they have fuel hydrogen generation running, tons of class. The Pisces is a lot of fun, and makes a perfect in-system run-about and small cargo mission ship. If it could get some passenger seats (like the space-mini-van it appears to be) it'll also be perfect for passenger transport. The range on it is insane, even when you upgrade to a faster Q-drive. I use mine a lot to go between planet-side and orbital stations instead of flying my larger ships down into atmo. Loved the Titan when I had it, by far the most versatile small ship. The Nomad is nice, but I can't believe they didn't put a damn door from the interior onto the flat-bed.

Lol. My son got the arrow for his starter. I told him to get whatever ship excites him the most and that's what he chose.
I got the 325A for that same reason. And even all these years later I still have and love that ship. This is what happens when you get a ship that excites you on a personal level instead of focusing simply on what's "best"

Word of advice if you want the 100i, pay the extra 15 bucks and go for 135c. same armaments, same performance, but has triple the storage capacity of the 100. (6 SCU of storage instead of the 2 SCU)

I tried SC around 4 years ago, but back then the 25 fps (poor optimization) caused me to only play for a few days.
I had bought the Avenger (Stalker) thinking arresting bounties would be awesome. It was quite a waste.
I got back on again about 6 months ago
And almost immediately upgraded to the Nomad. The nomad is such an awesome ship for newbie solo adventuring.
It can do low level combat, is pretty tanky , but being able to put a ROC miner in the back let's solo/new players make some really quick money to start doing upgrades or get better ships.
After a couple weeks I stopped playing again and came back today and upgraded to the Cutlass Black. Even though it is a "better ship".. I kind of miss my Nomad.

I have a Nomad. Im also thinking about upgrading it to Cutty, which will only cost me 10 bucks (since im already have 10 on account), cause i want more cargo to transport more quant per run and also better combat possibilities. But i really dont like the interior and cockpit design and practicality. Also it's a lot less nimble, which makes ROC mining a pain in the ass and less efficient; claim time is huge. Guess i'll just stick with Nomad, cause it's still gives a lot of possibilities to earn for a better ships and much better daily runner, than a Cutty.

I always saw the Mustang Beta as the true starter mustang.
No cargo, but you get an interior with bed kitchenette and shoilet.
The cockpit view remains just as amazing.
The interior allows access to internal storage and with a tractor beam or a good throw, your box missions can be placed inside the cabin.

A fully kitted out Aurora with laser cannon repeaters is a very fast nimble ship and can do the 890 Jump boarding action mission which can bag you 50k a time, X2 available one after the other just have to fly from Arc Corp to Microtech. I made a good million Credits in a week, I still use it from time to time thrashing it around those asteroid fields chasing targets, love it.

Aurora- smallest ship with a bed so it fits in a carrack
Mustang- rule of cool but doesn't do anything special. No bed on some version
Pieces- useful but not a good starter without friends with lack of bed.
100 series- never run out of fuel (you should own this ship even if you don't start with it)
Avenger titan- hit the ground sprinting. best starter.
Nomad- everything you could need utility.

It may be weird but there is a special place in my heart for the small ships in Star Citizen. The quirks they bring and the usability of a small ship just really appeals to me. I fly my 100i more than any other ship just because its fun to fly. So while I use my bigger ships for running cargo and mining, I keep coming back to the 100i purely because its FUN. Great video Morph!

plus later when oh need to cheak this place out flying there in a large ship will just mean that if you did not find gold you just spend a lot of money getting there.
also small ship have smaller radar and space radar signature meaning if you skirt around on a planet looking for anything interesting ods are your not going to be seen/detected even whit system in normal mode (aka nothing suspicious)
larger ship needs to activate sneak mode for that and that brings its own host of problem.
and currently we only have 3 planet and one system and when star citizen launches if it ever will,
we will have multiple planets this is the game where you would for example on a
wednesday fly from your home to a system/planet.
tursday fly around and scan for mineral and start to mine it.
      friday complet the mining.
      saturday fly back home.
kind of game where by in wow the above would take 3 hour a friday evening tops.

Ive been using the Avenger Titan for years and every time theres a full server wipe and Ingot to start from scratch, i always breathe easy knowing I have a competent ship to start from scratch on. Easily capable enough to handle MRTs (and even the odd HRT if I get lucky), plenty of cargo/homie space for box and bunker missions, even the canopy opens up so I can get out into Zero G faster for 890 jump missions, saving me precious seconds to hunt down the eluside hacking module. This ship has MADE Star Citizen for me and for 5 dollars more, i got a nice green camo pattern for her to give my penguin some character.
The only adjustable i would make beyond upgrading the shields, cooling systems, powerplant and quantum drive, would be to switch out the size 3 gatling gun for either a panther laser repeater or a size 3 distortion repeater. (As somone who's only a decent pilot, I cant stand flying missions against fast bois when i dont have the advantage of gimbal mounts)
(Plus the distortion repeater is fun when you wanna hijack somone elses ship and take it for a free test drive.)

I have an Aurora MR which I upgraded according to a guide: JS-300 powerplant, Atlas Warp Drive, 2 x 7SA Concord Shield Boosters, 2 x Task Force missiles and two extra Bulldog guns on the wings. Its doing great in space and as you say, is challenged in atmospheric conditions. So far I only managed adding two cargo boxes to its cargo rail, trying to snap a third made the ship explode, so yeah. A wel. A great all-round starter I think.

My favorite part of the titan was being able to hit up many FPS missions and tossing loot boxes in the back with no worries about access since the front has a ladder as well. Just toss boxes in the back and forget about them until you deposit them in a space station

Nice rundown of the ships. Regarding the Mustang Alpha starter ship: If CIG added the "exit-the-pilot-seat" code that the current Mustang Beta has (that is, the option to leave to the right and stand up behind the seat) then you could at least access the ship's inventory.

Well done video. I originally went with the Pisces not for Star Trek reasons. It's quick to get in and out of, and you can land that thing just about anywhere. Great little ship. However, I will be upgrading to the Avenger Titan, and then buying the Pisces in game as a backup ship. Avenger is a much better fighter, and just an all around good starter with a bed.

  • @mikeloeven
    @mikeloeven 2 года назад

I agree with most of what was said here Def go with the Avenger as the basic starter. and if you liked the look of the nomad just consider skipping it for a Cutty Black. FYI you can get 2 ROC miners in a Cutty Black but avoid the freelancer as its a bit dated and the cargo area is narrower than the cutty which makes mining rovers not fit properly (although I have argued the ROC wheel base is unnecessarily wide and should be reduced or equipped with a folding mechanism that pulls in the wheels to let let it get up a ramp more easily when you press the landing gear key )

This was a great video, that is dead accurate, and I can't agree more!
BUT SOMETHING THAT IS VERY OFTEN NOT MENTIONED IN THESE VIDEOS...
Don't stress yourself out worrying about picking the right one without actually trying it. If you find you don't like your decision, you can always easily exchange, upgrade, downgrade your choice and not be stuck in an unhappy place. Though the process to do so is a mini game in itself. So if the process confuses you, just ask and someone will help.
Also, and personally I can't emphasis it enough, bang for your buck, hands down, you cannot beat a Cutlass Black. It does all the things he mentioned in this video very well, with the addition of a manned turret that can be operated by a friend.
I don't believe he put it on the list, as it is over $100.

I’ll add a slight push back against not recommending the arrow. I would say go for it if you are signing up and playing with someone who is already established in the game and can easily give you ~1M aUEC so you can just immediately buy one of the other starter ships to cover the rest of the game play loops.
Of course that’s also just ignoring that you can CCU your starter ship at a later date.
