I'm 73 and can no longer do my four mile walks due to bad knees. I spent a year doing absolutely nothing and got very depressed. Someone suggested chair yoga and i found your site. Just love it and do it six day a week. I especially love the bird songs in the background, much better than music. I feel like I am out in nature when doing the exercises. Thank you for this site.
I love this routine. I've been doing it for years now and it always makes me feel better. and I love the birds.
I found your workouts after my hip replacement surgery. I am a fit 71 year old and a water fitness instructor, but don't have medical approval yet to get in the pool. Wit modifications, these have been so helpful. I've done yoga since the 60s. Thanks for making these videos.
I have never been a healthy person. I turned 50 this year and have started gaining weight like crazy. I tried some of the other yoga exercises and they were too hard for me. My daughter in law suggested chair yoga. I had not heard of it. I have now done three different versions and really enjoy it. It seems to be just the right amount of exercise for me at this time. Thank you for having these online
Wonderful for arthritis...helps loosen the joints and it is getting easier each time. Wonderful quiet and peaceful exercises. Great for a person in their 70's...thank you.
That was a lovely class. Thank you so much.
Enjoyed it again a year later.❤
I love these videos! I just found more from Cara at Chair Yoga | 20 min | Gratitude for the body |Cara Kircher - RUclips
This is the best chair yoga routine I've tried so far. Thanks!
Lovely sequence. Gentle, relaxing with very good options. Thank you!
Thank you for making these two yoga chair exercise videos. I am very happy that you show various versions of the poses so I can do them to my ability , especially the hip poses. Kudos to your team
With the virus sweeping the nation, I was having tremendous issues with both anxiety and depression. I felt better immediately after doing this routine. Thank you so much for providing me with this outlet and a chance to move my old out-of-shape body in ways that enhance it, rather than injure it.
Thank you for the comment! We are so glad this was helpful, and GOOD FOR YOU for taking care of your body and mind durning this time!
My husband and I have been doing these videos almost everyday since the virus shutdown. My husband has never done Yoga in his life and he’s doing very well. He does what he can and that’s so important when you’re older. Thanks Cara. Great job.
I love that this isn’t hurried or rushed and shows different levels. I tried many chair yoga videos and many left me frustrated but this one did not. Shared it with a friend, and thank you for making this a great experience.
love ur chair yoga. took hatha yoga years ago but this is great for me as a senior
Thanks Bonnie, Cara, and Erin for this wonderful video. I'm now interchanging your video with 2 others from Leap service. I've been doing You Tube Chair Yoga videos for 19 months 5 days a week along with my light weight and resistance band strength training routines. I love your video due to it's gentle stretching of my total body and great pain and stiffness relief. This also helps prepare me to play tennis doubles twice a week. So great for me as a 74 year old.
I am a 69 years young. Thank you for this gentle chair workout. I do this after my warmup and 20 minutes cardio dance routine and I am pretty much relaxed for the rest of the day.😀
Great program!!! Thank you! This is perfect for elderly persons that don't have transportation.
Thank you, all of you! My balance is really compromised, so I appreciate the chair exercise!
Thank you again! I'm 67 years old & retired with my husband. After making your 2 videos (alternating) a daily practice I'm so much more limber! My husband & I have 10 Grandchildren & are active in childcare with them. They range in age from 2-12. As a result, we do a lot of physical activity with them. Good for them & us! From doing this as a daily practice I have a lot more joy with them with my range of motion & strongly feel I have prevented injury! At the age of 50 I had successful microdisectomy on my L4 & 5 plus S1. Thank you for giving me a better quality of life as I age!
Hello Patricia! Wow thank you for sharing your story. We are so thrilled that the videos have impacted you and your husband in such a positive way.
Lovely, gentle video. I like the voiceover; so all 3 participants are silently focused on the movements themselves.
We live in the UK and have been doing all of these great exercises since March 2020 and recommending them to others. Thank you so much for producing these for us. They are clear, instructive, varied and most beneficial. Please keep up the good work. It is appreciated.
thank you for the routine. it's so enjoyable and I love hearing the birds in the background.
Lovely pace and routine. Very pleasant relaxing voice. I appreciate the breathing exercises. I am 87 and have practiced yoga since 1972.
It’s been a while since I did this video. It is still one of my favourites. My words above still apply.
Back again from Toronto.
Just did this for the first time. Really liked it!
Going on 3 yrs w this. My favorite!!!! Hard to walk, writer. This is my only exercise and love the birds! So grateful! - Jane, 80🎉
Wonderful sequence! It's great that you have 3 people illustrating modification.
I like this! Nice and slow and gentle for someone who hasn't done yoga in awhile.❤
Thank you. I'm 81 and only one hip joint. I've done yoga for years but recently been unwell and gave up yoga. My mobility almost disappeared. I found my usual chair yoga too demanding so gave up. Today I decided to try a gentler routine and I am so glad . I can manage it and I feel so hopeful again.thank you
Thank you for this wonderful practice. I am deeply grateful for your loving kindness and support.
I just did a routine for 30 minutes for the first time. I enjoyed it very much and will continue doing it as often as I can ! Thanks
great chair yoga sequence thank you
77yrs old, writer who sits all day...been doing 1 yr off and on my fave! Love her voice, patience
I started this during the Covid lockdown. I was missing my 3 day a week hour long class terribly and was frightened I would relapse. Before seated Yoga 7 years before my balance was appalling and I would be using a walker now had I not started. I knew I had to find something and fast! Thank you U of Toronto. You saved me and gave me a way to extend my Yoga practice. I do one Beginners session for 1/2 hour and the Intermediate 1/2 hour so I get my hour in each day I practice . You are the BEST. BTW I am 78 years old with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, three joint replacements and pretty much pain free.
Thank you ladies for making this gentle chair yoga routine. As a 73 year old female these gentle exercises give my muscles the right amount of stretching that they need without putting any undue stress on my body, and the breathing technique also does wonders for my lungs and sinuses. The 30 minutes went by so quickly. My appreciation to the LEAP team. Namaskar!
Today was my first exercise with you and I love it. Your commentary was encouraging, Bonnie, Cara and Erin were excellent models in helping with postures. I'm sure going to recommend this video to friends.Thank you!
Thiis is wonderful and so valuable! Thank you!!!
I am 75 and have been doing this yoga almost everyday for over two years. Love how I feel after doing these exercises. I have recommended this video to my friends.
Very nice. I miss going to my gym chair yoga. Love the birds.
I love your videos. Please make more 30 minute videos with even more yoga poses and stretches. I do these videos over and over and would love something new. Keep doing what you are doing.
Thank you for sharing! Have a wonderful day!
You too! Thanks for your comments. We appreciate it.
Cara Kircher Tried doing beginner
Yoga, but have a hard
on my knees, and getting down and back up. This is perfect!
@@lindabrink1608 I also love the chair routines. For me the problem is vertigo. All the ups and downs make me feel sick😒
"Just do what you can...that's enough". What a beautifully done video. Thank you, LEAPers!
Excellent video
Been doing this for 8-9 days. Love yr voice and gentle guidance. Lost my precious class due to virus. I’m in nyc and 76! How do I subscribe? Thanks!
It is great!!! I came back to do yoga!
I never, ever leave comments on videos, but I feel compelled to do so today. I have absolutely loved this video. I’ve been using this video almost daily for the past several weeks. Tonight, all of a sudden, I could stretch and turn further than I’ve been able to in the past. It was so rewarding. I love how gentle this workout is and how you show variations of the moves. Thank you!
Thank you for your lovely comment! Good for you!
I LOVE this routine. Please do a few more different ones. I'm 57 and an absolute beginner.
Very pleasant and doable! As others mentioned, the outdoor setting and birds singing adds to the pleasure. Thank you.
Thank you so much it is very helpful 🙏🏾
I have been following you for several years. Doing your various videos is part of my daily exercise routine. Thank you.
I absolutely love your calm soothing voice. This is my favorite from start to finish. Thank you!

Just found your web site and did the exercises. I have a stiff left shoulder and found them to be helpful. I am going to do them everyday. The movements where quite calming and I felt at peace with myself. Thank you.
My yoga instructor gave this link out for guidance with at home practice. This was great . Thank you Subscribed !
I really enjoyed your yoga routine and intend to use it often. Thank you.
I enjoyed my first yoga routine. Breathing technique will take time to remember
Please create more seated yoga sessions. This is great!
Thank you for your classes. These are great as I heal from a broken foot.
Cara, thank you SO much for making (I've only seen one) - this video. I will look for the 'other' video - and continue practicing Yoga. I'm almost 71, a Canadian living in Sedona, AZ. Not only did I find your technique soothing as well as 'stretching' - it was fun to hear the Canadian accent! Typically, I go to a rec center once weekly for chair Yoga. And, now I can do so in the comfort of my home, daily, if I choose. I love how the three ladies demonstrate various ways of executing the movements, depending on one's body's capabilities. And I love how they smile. Congrats, Ladies!
Thank you for your comment, and for noticing the Canadian accent! :) Stay well.
I appreciate your voice and the pace of the class. Very relaxing.
Thank you so much. I am recovering from foot surgery and over the past four weeks have been benefiting from this video. Please make more. I believe this is mindful yoga. Perhaps sugges more that people feel the results after the moves/stretches.
This is the first time for this routine. I have been doing the other one for a couple of days. So I really enjoyed this routine as I do the other one. My body does not feel so tight and in pain after 4 days of this, so I am looking forward to what my feels like after another 4 and then another. Thank you for taking the time to make these , they are perfect for older folks with body stiffness and tight joints. cannot wait until tomorrow now. I want to get really good at these 2 routines and then move on the the next step on the journey
Fantastic!! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks so much for this flow, I does every thing I need to assist in my post-op recovery
This is a wonderful, inclusive sequence that helps all bodies create space and connection between mind and body! Thank you so much for sharing it!!!!!!
I absolutely love the videos, I watch and do all the yoga ones which suit my ongoing back problems. Another chair yoga video or Tai Chi would be great. Thank you.
This is a great return to practice routine. Appreciate having the adaptations demonstrated. I needed to modify, and was great that I could do so at a glance, without stressing about needing to figure out how to alter the pose. Thanks
I love all these exercises. I have RA and they really help. Karas voice is soothing and her directions are so easy to follow.
I really enjoy your workouts. I have a lot of arthritis and this is a simple routine and not demanding in any way. I feel so good after I do the stretching and yoga positions. Thank you for making workouts so simple and effective!
As an elder, this was absolutely perfect for me! Thank you so much for getting me started again doing yoga. It's been a LONG time.
Thank you for these videos! I enjoy yoga regularly at a studio, but these are great when I'm home sick.
I love all the videos from here. They help keep me flexible especially during these times. Thank you so much for these. I do all the sitting ones right now and hope to move to standing soon. Love the birds singing . . . They help one relax.
I have enjoyed the time doing the Yoga exercises. I am working om my body doing these exercises, as I have R.A. Trying to get rid of it. Doing Yoga 3 times or more a week.
really excellent. my shoulders won't allow any pressure - no downward dog, plank etc - so I was rather disheartened until I found your video. thank you!
I enjoyed the chair exercises the different variations helped me to know which was comfortable. Thank you. God bless and be safe.
Very nice class. Thank you.
Lovely interlude. Well directed and demonstrated. I feel so much more "open" and relaxed after doing this routine. It will be one I will keep returning to. LEAP's chair Yoga routines are wonderful! Thank you!...Anastasia
Thanks so much for this wonderful source of renewal.
I Love this new (for me) video. I've been taking turns alternating between all your classes Thank you for continuing to create these multi level practices routines!!!
Thank you for taking the time to make this video. I have just started doing a chair yoga class near me once a week and it is nice that I can now also enjoy practicing at home with your guidance Namasté
Excellent session. Really enjoyed it.
I like the way you have proposed 3 versions of intensity
Thank you for this video! My 80 year old mother wanted to try yoga and this is perfect for her. Se is looking forward to more videos.
Wonderful!
This has been such an amazing find for me! Living in WA state an hour from the Kirkland facility and Seattle I’ve been isolating for quite a while. My anxiety was getting the best of me. I also have chronic pain from 2 injuries. Chair yoga is my best form of exercise. Thank you for all your wonderful videos. I loved all the birds chirping throughout most of this too!🐣
Thank you so much for leaving a comment! We are hoping to make some more videos soon, to support everyone's mental and physical health during this difficult time. Good for you for prioritizing exercise! Keep it up.
Hurray, thanks for the new video.
Thank you sooo much I enjoy the work out very much
You're so welcome!
I have rhuematoid arthritis and noticing my flexibility going even though I keep active as much as possible. Came across these videos by accident and have done 2 today. I've tried traditional yoga and felt awkward and clunky doing the moves. Being arthritic these seated yoga moves are so much more doable for me. So this looks like my Saturday workouts are going to be seated yoga workouts. Love them ...
Thank you, I've done your seated yoga and I always enjoy it. this was especially relaxing after a long day I've had. Again thank you !!!
Thank you it was a great chair yoga video I would Like to know how can I fix pain on my front knee and back knee
Thank you so much for this video. It's really helpful in these times of confinement. My mother, who has two hip replacements and osteoarthritis all over the place, started following along every morning and the routine is helping her feel more supple and connected. Thank you so much for the hard work and the easy-to-follow instructions!
Glad it was helpful!
Great workout . Good for post surgery knee replacement.
Thank you so much for these videos. My range of motion is improving
This was great!! Recovering from hip replacement surgery and missing my usual yoga routine.. this gave a lot of gentle options and moved at a nice relaxed pace.. a wonderful way to ease back into yoga practice while I can't get onto the floor! thank you :)
I had a mild stroke this February then developed Trigeminal Neuralgia. Your sequences renew me! Also it helps this 60 something year old female de-stress and manage pain.
Excellent videos, thank you
Brilliant, never knew there was chair yoga. I have mobility issues so it was perfect for me. Feel rejuvinated. Thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you so much, this is so good.
Just great. Thank you. Exactly the types of exercises I need to do as I recover from surgery.
I'm tingling! Thanks for another great video.
This is lovely - beautifully paced & really soothing, encouraging voiceover and great to have all the variations for different abilities... I'm starting to teach a lot more short online 'office yoga' sessions in this period of lock-down and restrictions and this has given me some great inspiration for adaptations when people don't have a mat and don't want a full-length sweaty yoga session. I'll also be forwarding this to a few older relatives. Thank you- great job!
