- Video gives you a guided tour around my 1987 Ferrari Testarossa, to give you a sense what this car is like to live with as an owner. Expect some surprises along the way..

My first childhood crush! I swapped a packet of crisps and 50p for a Testarossa brochure in the school playground, I've still got it.
a testarossa brochure? damn bro you got very far in life then...
On one of my first trips, as a 15 year old I bought a framed picture of a Testarossa in Petty coat lane London. I still have it.
1:18 scale Bburago Ferrari Testarossa was life...
At least you don't still have the chips....
@@KingOfKingz911 - he was only a kid when he made the swap and now doubtless he has more sensible priorities than a vastly expensive to run decades-old car.
As an 8 year old boy in '85, this was my dream car. Still looks fantastic more than 30 years later. Thank you for uploading this!
I was in Italy in 1986, and one came slowly pass me, down a lane towards the beach, and the sound was glorious. Been a fan ever since.
Do you own one Im not saying this toxic Im just asking if you own one
No, I wish.
@@robinchamberlain3887 Well They have gone alot Down in price idk about your country But in sweden The Price is very low But one day it will come
In the early fall of 1988 I was on vacation in Palm Springs and I saw a burgundy metallic Testarossa. I think it was the most beautiful automobile I have ever seen. An older gentleman was driving it. He noticed me showing great fondness for his car. He rolled down the window and said “if you can beat it, it’s yours”,,, and he took off. We were in my brothers 4 cylinder 88hp 1979 Ford Fairmont which could only beat a snail on a good day.
Boyd W great story 👍🏻🤣🙏🏻
Sounds like my story. In high school on Friday night I was driving my '86 Chevy Cavalier around the shopping mall parking lot with some friends in the car. Just by luck there was a new Testarossa in front of me at the stop sign...he took off and I tried to stay right behind him...LOL.
Would have been a laugh it your car was a 300 hp sleeper
I wish you had a sleeper...
@@johnnyboy1586😅
Probably my favorite 80s supercar...simply stunning, always loved those radiators at the sides.
When I was little I thought the fins on the side were used to cool the tires 😎
the sides are obviously what make the car stand out.
You can just see the passion this guy has for cars through the way he describes all the little intricate details about them. You are a legend Mr. Metcalfe, I'd love to see a ton more videos from you on this channel. Thank you for taking the time to film these and share with us these incredible machines.
I find older cars much more interesting than modern ones. They were designed with freedom, not being conditioned by stupid EU regulations and those manual gearboxes are gorgeous!
Love this channel.
mso008 yeah EU should be fucking destroyed
@@MP-Fin Hahaha bloody hell, that's a bit of a leap. The EU is great, free trade, movement, strong civil liberties and laws, exchange of ideas and funding for brilliant and ground breaking scientific projects. There are many, many upsides. We've left the EU in Britain, it's brought us food shortages. In exchange, we have literally fuck all except for losing out on our right to travel freely and underhindered throughout an entire continent.
@@AAARREUUUGHHHH sorry, I was probably a bit cranky while writing that
@@MP-Fin Fair enough. Good on you for owning up to it.
Actually, the quirky Flying Mirror of the early Testarossas was indeed caused by EU regulations for 100% visibility backwards over the huge rear fenders. Later on, regulations were changed, so that the lower placed mirrors on both sides could be implemented. Source: "Ferrari Testarossa", by Mark Hughes.
Wow, this is the best channel, I have ever stumbled across. The best. I have yet to really dive in.
Hey Harry, just wanted to tell you I love the way you talk about your cars and how great you share your passion with all the people here on internet, that is exactly what I also would like to do in future and with a bit more money ;-).
Because these cars are meant to be driven, to be enjoyed and to be felt.
But all of this is something it must be shared, in my opinion, and you're doing it wonderfully.
Thanks a lot!
Thanks for the support. I enjoying sharing what I pick up after owning these cars for a few months, hence why I've started doing these vids again..
Harry's garage thank you, keep it up and enjoy this cars also for me!
Harry's garage Just wanted to say thank you. I love your videos.
Endeavour88 I agree, love the passion and excitement and joy that Harry gets out of driving and talking about this car. Very cool!!
Meant to be driven? Like this ruclips.net/video/UKm-wcxkl5U/видео.html
I'm only 30. This was my favorite car when I was a kid. Still is in many ways.
I'm very happy for you Harry. That is a beautiful machine!
@Battenkill Rambler 30 is quite old in this age.
Well this was my favorite car in GTA Vice City when i was 11 years old (Now 25)
When this man smiles while flooring the accelerator to his Testarossa, the heavens open up.
Harry should've been the new Top Gear host
I wonder how fast it will go in the hands of a tame racing driver..? ;-)
He wouldn't lower himself.
@@greigsanderson
Looking at how he view Harris and talk about the show, I high ly doubt he would consider it lowering himself. But it's not his thing, doubt he would like it if he was offered the spot.
He kinda has a James May feel to him. I think he would be great. Give TG it’s class back
This a is a car site, TG is an entertainment show with some cars in it, the cars are just the links for mucking around and having some silly fun. Different audience, different wants and needs.
Great to have you back Harry! Your videos are always perfect! Keep doing them that way!
Thank you for the review of a beautiful car!

i dont mean to be off topic but does anybody know of a trick to log back into an Instagram account?
I was dumb forgot the login password. I love any tricks you can offer me!
@Ralph Jayceon instablaster :)
It's pure joy on his face when he's driving it. Awesome.
Man, that sound. Goosebumps.
I'm hearing the Miami Vice theme in my head. One of the best Ferrari out there.

I am SO happy that Mr. Metcalfe has decided to continue making videos. I really enjoyed the new Jaguar Project 7 and this one. He is so knowledgeable and he is down to earth. He tells us how a car is to live with, which is very interesting since most of us will never have an opportunity to own one of his cars. Well done and I can't wait until the next video. Thank you for producing these videos.
Immensely happy to have discovered your channel, starting with this video today.
Seems I'll be binge watching any others you have.
Thank you for taking the time to share these wonderful machines with us, instead of hiding them away forever in an unmarked garage.
Very nice, comprehensive and thorough video. I was born in 1986, yet since I was a little kid the Testarossa has been one of my top favorite cars, even to this day. I had the good fortune to see one up close, on a street in London. Couldn't get my eyes off it. That amazingly shaped backside... Congratulations on owning one sir, and thank you for sharing with us through this video.
The most civilised man on RUclips!. Love your work
That...pause...between gear changes, especially on that engine is what completes the 'musical' experience for me, so many of these modern supercars would sound so much better if they just had a little...pause, between shifts.
Mark Levin
Yes, indeed. Modern lacks the raw simplicity of the past. No matter how precise sport transmissions are nowadays; there's no replacement for a good old, aluminium knob, Ferrari shifter.
That and and the "clink" sound from the gated shifter :-)
I always felt that way too. With an appreciable pause between shifts, we feel the car is almost "human" or that it's taking a breath almost. Modern DCTs go REVshiftREVshiftREV and feel cold and sterile
Liked when you said :"I just love details like that...." and notice the umbrella which holds the boot open :) @ 9:37
lol.. that umbrella! 😂
I was just thinking that!
Harry want to thank you for taking us on this journey in your magnificent machine. You really do get such a great sense of what it is like to be in the car. Really like the way you communicate what these machines are truly like. Also a joy to watch your genuine excitement, as you enjoy the whole experience.
Harry's garage : The true gentlemanly's car enthusiast youtube channel. My word, kids and douchebags will not watch this, leaving the quality material to the true enthusiasts ! Thank you kind sir for retiring into, not from, the car journalism !
Acquadelic what's wrong with kids watching this? My 11 year loves cars and enjoys watching channels just like this. Very educational, Harry doesn't go too technical that's why my son enjoys these videos. You sound like an upper class douchebag.
Do not get me wrong sir, I am reffering to the fact that kids get quickly bored of these videos ! They are heavy on marvelous journalism and technical things, but they don't just appeal to the stance-loving-meme-using-tire-burning car enthusiast.
Im 19, guess still kinda a kid if u compare my age to Harrys but I absolutely love his videos just cuz of the near perfect quality and what he can tell me about the cars, and the way how he shows them and reviews them + some of the LEGENDS hes got here on the channel are immaculate!!!
testarosa
good car
"I love details like that, and that's what Ferrari does so well!"
Great video, informative, entertaining but not too flashy. Very pleasant to watch.
Sir, besides all of your wonderful car, you live in such a wonderful place.
Thanks Harry, you really know how to share a car with everyone. Love your videos. That noise is like nothing else I've ever heard.
that mirror in the glove box really should have a pivot to lay flat so your can snort coke off it...
I think that was an optional extra.
I was surprised we weren't shown the coke dispenser button!
Sammy Hargars does
Cocaine is a powerful drug.
They thought it out. I think you can take the driver's sunvisor mirror out of its place to do it, is removable
the portrait of a happy man
This video reminds me of when I saw my first Testarossa in the metal when I was 12 years old. I'm 36 now and I still remember it like yesterday.
30 years ahead of its time mate. Great review.
Not really into super cars but this specific one is just marvelous.
Testarossa is more of a grand tourer than a real supercar
Thank you, wonderful car!
And a nice video, too. ZERO drifts in it...will never understand why car reviews have them.
My favorite reviewer reviewing my favorite car. Splendid.
Just bought my own 89. I have tried for many years to find the perfect supercar. Each one getting newer and newer. I finally was able to pull one of these off, and wow! It’s exactly what I’ve been looking for. So involving, yet surprisingly practical. I’ve done 2,000 miles in 3 months. Can’t get enough!
thank you for this movie film. beautiful car, beautiful sounding, very smooth engine, and good presentations!
It just makes me smile to see this video with ZERO dislike. It shows that people who came to this video knows what they r expecting and more importantly they all(including me) respect Harry to the same extent we respect God and Jesus.
Agreed, minus the God and Jesus part.
Zero dislikes here does indicate that the target audience has been satisfied. But just as much, it also indicates that the video has been mostly or even exclusively exposed to that target audience, which is an accomplishment by whoever was doing marketing for the video/RUclips-er.
Additionally, the audience that watches classic cars is, well, more mature I'd argue. Therefore, childish I'm-going-to-dislike-solely-to-be-the-first-to-dislikes are rare.
With rising visibility, you're bound to get some negative feedback though.
I respect Harry more, because, you know, he's actually a real person.
Sound is intoxicating, wow!
Agreed! 17:12 Isn't it nice to hear an engine revving cleanly without any of today's stupid, childish popping, banging, spluttering computer mapping nonsense. (I don't care how 'efficient' it is, boys - it makes cars sound like crap.)
A Ferrari should BELLOW and HOWL! :-)
I drove quite a few of these when I worked for Ferrari North America. What a beast. You don’t see designs like Pininfarina anymore. Those fins on the side are stellar. When we took the mufflers off an revved the engine, the sound was insanity. We had a special wrench to torque the wheel hubs to get it tight. No hammer needed. Great point concerning the visibility. We got a Countach and it was suffocating and you couldn’t see much. The Rosa had such a nice view. Lambos are sporty and exotic. Ferraris are exotic, sporty but elegant. I remember the g’s when we hit the turn between the 605 and the 405 fwy. Then the F-40s arrived...holy moly!
I like this car more than the Countach
corvair67 You’re a little late three years ago
@I love it yes. 1°F40, 2°Diablo, 3°Testarossa.
The Countach is more stylish but less practical
Flat 12 is just more badass.
Way more!!
The Testarossa and Countach side by side scenes... just made me weak in the knees!!!
I always get a smile on my face when i see there is a new video on this channel.
Amazing video, thank you Harry, even after 6 years I still like to review this old videos!
Sir, you are a hero. Owning a Countache and a Testarossa yet staying that objective and clearheaded about them. Talk about owning dreamcars of the 80's.
Hats off.
An intimate and very enjoyable video. Thanks Harry
Ha ha, you can hear the passion when he says "you can have a proper smoke in here".
Fantastic video Harry! Brought back some great memories. Thanks.
Well. I thoroughly enjoyed that! Hearing you give it some stick brought smile after smile to my face. Thanks for letting us live vicariously through your experience. Owning a prancing horse is on my bucket list. What a sound. God, what a sound.
Love your video Harry, fan since day one ! could listen to you for hours .. !
i've been waiting so long for this channel, YT just got a lot better :)
I couldnt help but smile just as much as he did at the end of that vid. Brilliant.
Love how the driver's door in the TR sounds like the drivers door in your XJC. Then i get to the end Harry, and you have a laugh at the creakiness. Hilarious!
I owned one of these in the 80's (OK it was made by Burago).
Thank you for taking the time to make this amazing video.
Wonderful review! The love for this cars shines through every word!
I loved this car when it came out and I'm still in love today, thank you for walking me down memory lane.
You are a blessed man .. Love your video's and reviews .. thank you . This will probably be as close to an exotic super car I will ever get ..
always push yourself a bit more
Harry Thanks for the uploads and may god bless you do do more, and buy more cars..................... i wish all people that can afford a dream garage ,were like you instead of poseurs
The single most beautiful car ever created
I love the early ones with the single mirror. What a fine collection of automobiles and bikes you have Harry and you use them all as intended. Good on you much respect.
Such a sexy example of a childhood classic
Amazing car. Still awe inspiring and just as beautifully exotic as ever
I think this is the best review of a car I have ever seen. True passion for a beautiful motor and yet fascinating and informative. Quality.
Well done. Love the in depth on the details from the interior lights and tool kit. the little quirks, even how the leather on seats age is brilliant.
That smile.... Sold... I want one....
Great review of a true classic, i remember admiring one of these in white in Miami vice. just subscribed to your channel.
Thank you Harry for this great video, it's great to see some people really living out their dreams, especially when they are down to earth, and not simply about looking the part. From one man to another, you sir are the man, Esse quam videri.
Lovely videos of my all time favorite cars!
I do know what happened but some how Harry has stolen my life! Great video.
Miami Vice all over again! love it! :)
I was born in the Eastern bloc and I was happy to see any picture of this Ferrari model, and not only that...
For those from the Eastern Bloc, such a car will see a very loaded symbolism.
I'm glad that today I can see it in reality on the street, but also in detailed presentations like this one.
Thank you!
I appreciate your passion for quality, vintage cars. You do a great job explaining the features and feelings associated with high end automobiles.
This is easily one of the most stylish cars ever
@Gappie Al Kebabi You can't compare a luxury coupe with a super car.
Great video!
Love the umbrella at 9:37 ;)
Excellent excellent excellent.. Great review, great car, great engine sound. Love that flat 12 howl.
I love the Test, who doesn't, but honestly this has to be one of the best examples. That rear boot seems to be in (almost) mint condition and it's gorgeous! Beautiful spec and great that it's in good hands now.
Great review! The sound is truly amazing. By the way, nice Panerai. You have very good taste, sir.
I saw a White one in Hawaii. far out. My favorite Ferrari by far!
The picture resembles Bacon or Spinoza. I'm awaiting approval of my economic math model in my book. Hopefully---it will be soon.
It has always been my favorite car. But I always experienced it external from the outside. Never really got the right feeling from other videos driving a TR. In this video I really got to feel the character of it. By watching you drive, listen, watch it move. The long range of gears. Simple, very solid. Much power. And to have that whole thing behind you and the sides, that rear. The classic wide back in my opinion one of the most elegant rears ever made yet very mysterious sort of hidden unapproachability kind of sense of it. I love it even more now.
One of my bucket list cars as well. Really enjoyed your review. Thank You.
Excellent video as always Harry. Maybe for the next one wear a chest mic so we hear more of you in the car, the Camera's onboard mic picks up quite a lot of road roar.
I'm resisting as having an additional mic would seriously complicate the edit. I used a new camera at the start of this vid and the mic isn't as good as the one in my old camera. Now I know, I'll do most of the in-car recording using the old camera..
Harry's garage Would that be the Sony RX100?
I use a Zoom H2N and synching the audio to the camera's audio isn't tough and you could fit a directional mic in the car pointed to yourself.
Gotta have good sound on videos like this!!
Diamond Hell It's an RX III judging by the size of the front element :)
Thank you for this review of my all time favorite dream car. The Diablo come at nr 2 for me.
Wonderful. H.Your enthusiasm is crystal clear from start to finish. Its very generous of you to share it on the tube. Ta very much.
Having a lambo and the Ferrari together in one shot really creates a huge smile
LOL! Notice how his grin grows wider the faster he goes!
Great informative video harry.. Keep it up
Thank you Harry, a fantastic owners perspective. Great stuff!
People tend to underestimate and truly appreciate the Design of this supercar!! It really is the ultimate in design!! On closer inspection there are exquisite design touches everywhere beautifully sculpted by genius Sergio Pininfarina!!
Absolutely love it - and love how you love it Harry! Who wouldn't want to own this glorious car...what a sound! I was there when it made it's debut in Paris btw!
I like this car
Lovely sound out of that engine.
Ive been waiting for another personal review by this gentlemen on EVO diaries, they were such good reviews. Im so happy i found where hes gone, the information is so intricate and the personal accounts of the secrets are just soo cool so thank you!!!
Wonderful in depth review. I love how you talk about all of the features that make the car stand out uniquely. You have a new subscriber.
One of the best Ferrari's in my opinion but also the best song about a car and i dare anyone to find a better song about a car but listen to this sone by Sir mix a lot - testarossa
The most beautiful Ferrari to this day for me. That arse.
My best dream car till now even there are so many stunning models of Ferrari now a days... Love it.
A typical Harry review : Very detailed, very informative, very honest. Keep up the good work !
You look similar to Clarkson and are as informative as May.
Harry, I really like a lot that you actually use your cars. What does it serve a great car if it is not used? Cheers!
we will all die one day. and that day is coming closer everyday. better harry woke up and realized this simple truth. whatever we have in life, we should use it instead of putting it away like a "collector" which is just a huge scam onto oneself and the public.
Lolol
Beautiful Ferrari! I remember being a fan of the Countach when I was about ten. However, I did fall in love with the '86 Testarossa once I saw it on Miami Vice. The cute 308 was already my favorite, but the new Testarossa looked so much like a Ferrari! I knew then, as I know now, that Ferrari is the only brand for me.
Excellent! Harry gives a really clear and vivid impression of what it's like to own and drive these iconic machines with no inflated ego or gimmicks to spoil the ride. Thanks Harry.
Completely agree, I used to drive "flash cars" for work and got used to the looks they would attract. Now, having driven a van for yrs, I have another flash car. I so wish I was as insouciant as Harry. Back in the day, I had a GPX750, same engine as yours but without the trick ally chassis. Loved it but it attracted someone who pulled out in front of me.
@@dickieb2233 GPX750 was a superb motorcycle!👍
@@liminal-m3g Thank you. Wish I still had it.
