@@Belnick6666 "Gaslighters" is referring to the commenters that pretend Dawn was in the show all along, which can cause the reactor to doubt their own memories (If they're even reading the comments and isn't too far ahead). from the fairly common term "Gaslighting" which refers to convincing people to doubt their own reason and sanity by perpetuating a lie. It comes from the 1944 film "gaslight" which has that behavior as part of its plot. It has nothing to do with Flaming or Spoiling, which are both entirely different things.

From the simple premise that Dracula comes to Sunnydale, they introduce and expand Slayer lore from a completely new POV, bounce all the characters through various Dracula tropes to hilarious effect, finally bring Dawn back from her vacation with dad, and acknowledge that summoning Sineya has had consequences...some of them ominous. Plus, Giles in the chick pit.
Riley is fine as a character, there's just zero chemistry between Blucas and SMG.

S5 of BTVS was outstanding leading towards a stunning Season Finale. We start off with a 'tongue in cheek' stand alone episode with Buffy V Dracula. Some great comedy moments again with Xander getting all the best lines in his homage to 'Renfield' as a 'spider eating man bitch'. Spike is brilliantly unimpressed by Dracula, and of course we get introduced to Dawn in the strange ending. In the dream sequence in S4 when Faith and Buffy are making the bed, Faith says 'little sis is coming' the foreshadowing there to Dawn's arrival as a pivotal character in the Season.

I forgot about this episode. They sort of nerfed Dracula. He was made to be a sort of vampire with more supernatural traits, instead of the king of all vampires that he truly is. Netflix had (has?) a three part movie called Dracula. It's not for the faint of heart, so if you find it; be warned! Otherwise it was a good episode. The part where Buffy asked Giles to be her watcher again was moving. So buffy has a sister now? I wonder what this might portend?

As for this episode, it's a great comedic episode. Giles vs. the Brides reminds me of Galahad in "Monty Python and the Holy Grail". It's nice to see you acknowledge that Buffy and Riley are okay or cute enough together, but there's just no fiery passion there. Heck, Buffy had more passion with Spike in the episode Something Blue when they were arguing and then kissing over wedding plans than she does with Riley. I watched Buffy starting back from when season 3 aired on tv, and I have watched it through about every two years since - and I've never been able to muster up any enthusiasm about their relationship. He's a nice guy and he treats her wonderfully for the most part... but as a couple they rank between an okay and a meh on the sparkage meter.
The guy I think is Buffy's true soulmate doesn't make his full debut until about the middle of season 7. He's there at the beginning of season 7, but he's being tortured by evil in the beginning - the true, unfettered guy doesn't really come out until later on in season 7.

Posting my BUFFY REWATCH recap for ‘Buffy vs. Dracula’. May contain spoilers.
So now we’re into the season of the show where Willow really comes into her magical power. Watching this episode... this scene stood out to me - specifically when Tara was asking Willow if she found Dracula sexy. It had me wondering - what is it exactly that Willow is attracted to in Count Dracula? It can’t have anything to do with gender if she can identify and declare herself as gay and yet still have a romantic and/or sexual attraction to the male species - which I’m sure pissed the pure-bred Sapphics off that have Willow as their insert-character.
But then I thought about it for awhile and asked myself the question:
What is she attracted to in a lover/love interest/crush in general? And it hit me like a lightning bolt from out of the blue (bless my gift of claircognizance). It’s POWER! And not necessarily power like Buffy’s - (although that does play a part in her gay awakening - we’ll get to that point in later episode recaps) -, but magical and/or mystical power. It’s specifically power that is magical and/or mystical in nature that attracts Willow to a human person or a living dead person like Dracula. It has absolutely NOTHING to do with gender identity and/or expression. So the answer she gave to Tara’s question is actually true even though she just said it because she didn’t want Tara to be put out by her finding Dracula sexy. It is not Dracula’s appearance that she finds sexy. It’s his power!
Think about it also with Oz and Tara. This makes a hell of a lot of sense.
Willow actually becomes really invested in dating Oz despite *ahem because of ahem* discovering that he is a werewolf. When she realizes that he has mystical power is when she becomes a lot more invested in the relationship blossoming between them. Of course, it’s mystical power that he can’t consciously control... but nevertheless - he possesses mystical power by being a werewolf. That should have scared Willow off. It didn’t. It only made her more invested in him. It didn’t matter to her that he was a male. That wasn’t what appealed to her at all.
How does Willow introduce Tara to Buffy in ‘Who Are You?’ - What’s the first thing she says about Tara to Buffy? The very first thing she mentions about her is that she practices Wicca and is a powerful witch. That she has magical power.
*At the Bronze before she and Tara knew Buffy and Faith had swapped bodies*
WILLOW: “This is Tara. She was in my Wicca group.”
*At Giles’ house after they realized Buffy was in Faith’s body*
WILLOW: “Tara’s a really powerful witch.”
    TARA: “Not really”
WILLOW: “No, really, She knew right away that you weren’t you.”
Willow is attracted to Tara’s magical power right from the get-go and attracted to her romantically because of it. It has nothing to do with her being a female at all.
Gender doesn’t matter to Willow because it is power that she is attracted to. That she is invested in, that appeals to her. Interests her. Excites her. That’s her NO. 1 type in a romantic/sexual partner. A powerful type. And here’s the thing - Power is gender neutral. Meaning anyone can have it and anyone can be it.
In conclusion - she had a hard on for Dracula for his magical and mystical power. That was what was sexy to her about him. Not the fact he was a him. Sure, it’s not the only factor that she is attracted to. But it’s probably the biggest. And so the relationships she becomes invested in with Oz and Tara are due to them possessing mystical and/or magical power. Not because of their gender. So if you ask me - if there’s any sexuality that makes the most sense for Willow ignoring how she identifies and declares herself as (gay) - Willow is pansexual. Gender doesn't matter to her as it is power that she is attracted to/invested in. Not that I think we should ignore her identified and declared sexuality. I’ve made it quite clear why we shouldn’t already. I’m just saying it makes the most sense.

Like, 1 or 2 dB at the most, but sometimes I'm hearing that guitar over what you're trying to say there and it's a little distracting when I'm trying to hear your thoughts.
Keep up all the hard work and I can't wait to see how you do with season 5!

my bad. I did film these a good while ago now so not sure how long the outro track is gonna be a bit louder than needed. My Grimm reactions are more recent so hopefully the music is a little softer for those. thanks for feedback & hopefully it's not too distracting to watch

Little sis has been mentioned a few times before.
Riley is a good guy, he's just sort of boring as a character and now he doesn't have a life of his own. He's in the same situation as Angel was in season 3. All he has is Buffy and that's only interesting for a little bit.

I have a love/hate relationship with the Dawn reveal on the fandom's commentary to reactors.
I love the WTF moment. I think it's acceptable to joke about "what, you forgot about Dawn?" but then it just goes incredibly cringe with people not able to let the joke go.
My reaction (and I first watched season 5 after buying the box set without even seeing all of season 4) was "what the HELL is going on?!"
Buffy being an only child had been a rather consistent theme through the early seasons, so I was immediately sus, but I think it's fair for anyone to have a moment of "did I forget a main character" before having a think and becoming sus.
Season 5 has so much brilliance. I think it may be my second or third favourite season (S6 or S2 are in the mix for top 3)
Can't wait to see Dakara endure the rollercoaster ride to discover just who Dawn is and why she has suddenly appeared. Michelle Trachtenberg does an ABSOLUTELY fantastic job of joining an established and excellent cast to hold her own (love or loath her character... but her performances are incredible, especially for her age. Real Me proves that in spades)
I genuinely think she doesn't get enough praise.

I don't want to seem rude or inpolite but i have a question for the editor (i think).
Could it be possible to eliminate the music when Dakara speaks ?
English isn't my first language and i find some difficulties to follow her speech with the music.
Normally i turn off the volume and read the subtitles (autogenerated= not precise), and put the velocity to half
but in doing so i lost all the feelings Dakara put in her analysis or the laughter, etc. It's not the same experience than listen to her voice.
Dakara is really the best reactor (i'm a long time fan from SPN).
    Sorry to have bothered you.
    Cheers from Italy.

The ending with Dracula kind of tanked this one for me. He's a vampire who apparently can't be killed by staking and has more powers than any other vampire ever seen. To me, that should make Dracula a much bigger threat than the Master ever was, yet they play it off like it's nothing more than a joke.

although this season is still good, unfortunately it is, qualitatively speaking, also the beginning of the end of the series.
is it the new character's fault? she is always annoying and boring so a little bit probably yes but the greatest weight was given by some classic choices by Whedon to which a kind of "tiredness" is added in the conception of the story in general and in particular of how it is represented in the various episodes .
there will still be many good episodes, some of them even excellent, but it all goes down ...
