Britt, you just gotta dive into Loretta Lynn's catalog. She was pure talent wrapped up in pure sass. The songs she wrote were about everyday women and spoke out for a generation. Her song "The Pill" was so empowering commentary for women that many radio stations banned it. RIP to the OG Country Queen.
Loretta is the Lady who forced country music to observe the truth about everything she was the most controversial lady singing ever she pissed the establishment off always love her and you and Dolly
Loretta was a badass. No one messed with her. The song The Pill was about birth control with in the 60' was very controversial. Many radio stationed banned it completely.
I don't see any reactors react to Barbara Mandrell. She had a tv show with her sisters when I was a child and I loved her so much. I wish that someone would react to her. My favorite song by her was "If loving you is wrong" and then there is also "I was country when country wasn't cool". So if you want to react to another great female country artist from the past, she would be a good one. She gets overlooked even though she was one of the biggest country music stars in the 70s and early 80s. She had a tragic car accident in 1984 and that is when her career suffered. I love your channel. Thank you for the great reactions.
LORETTA kicked the doors down that ALL the others walked through while staying true to herself. Never changing who she was. I was blessed to have met her many times. She was the same off stage as on. She didn't care if you saw her in curlers and no make up. She made time for her fans. She was one of us. God rest the Queen of County Music ❤️
Two absolutely amazing women. Loretta, with that sweet smile on her face, was a complete badass who sang the realities of her life. Many of her songs, like "The Pill", were banned by country radio stations because of that. And Dolly, whip-smart businesswoman & incredibly talented singer/songwriter. It's a joy to see them together.
Loretta Lynn was the undisputed Queen of Country music. She was so feisty! I so clearly remember my mom playing her records while she cleaned the house. Beautiful memories.❤ "The Pill" is THE PILL!! It was about the availability of birth control pills. Before my time but Mom talked about this song being banned from radio stations. RIP Loretta
That's country royalty right there on those stools. Miss Dolly and Miss Loretta. Country music wouldn't be country music without those two wonderful ladies. RIP to the Queen of country music, the Coal Miner's Daughter herself, Miss Loretta Lynn.
R.I.P. Loretta, it's only been 5 months since she died. First got to know Loretta when my grandmother bought a copy of her autobiography "A Coal Man's Daughter". I been a big fan since 1980. She really wrote songs about everyday life.
You need to do some of Loretta's music! She was revolutionary in country music!! She spoke out for women by singing about things people wouldn't even talk about at the time. She was a trailblazer!!
You got to watch The movie: Coal Miner's Daughter Sissy Spacek played Loretta, Tommy Lee Jones, of Men in Black, played her husband Doo Little. You will learn how poor, just like Dolly, Loretta was growing up. Great movie. In fact, Loretta had so much spunk that she insisted that Sissy play her even before Sissy knew about the role. Loretta would go on talk shows announcing she wanted Sissy Spacek to play her in the movie.
Dolly Parton and Loretta Lynn pretty much lived the same life. They've been friends for years!! Loretta had a ton of kids! Her husband was a trifling mean alcoholic!!
Lorettie, as her parents called her wrote many of her songs from her life experiences. Married to Doolittle Lynn and a mother multi times over she grew up hard and quick. She was the oldest child. Dolly grew up poor in Tennessee while Loretta grew up in Kentucky in coal town. After making it big in Nashville, she became friends with Patsy Cline and was pregnant with twin girls when Patsy was killed in the plane crash and named one of those twins after Patsy. She is also the older half sister of Crystal Gayle, a country star (Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue).
Always liked Loretta's Fist City. She was my Grandpaw's favorite singer and my grandmaw about always kept her hair the way Loretta's was in the first performance of Coal Miner's Daughter. THE First Lady of Country!
There is a very specific region of Appalachia where it is completely possible the rhyme the words hard and tired. These two ladies and one half of my family are from that region. It’s the tri-states area where VA, KY and TN meet.
You just can't get better than Loretta and Dolly the creativity/talent between the two is unmeasurable. If you asked me to choose one over the other, I simply would not...
Loretta Lynn was my first favorite country singer. I listened as a child. My grandfather was a coal miner, so when sang "I was a Coal Miner's Daughter" it hit home. Patsy Cline, Dolly then Barbara Mandrell & Reba McEntire. Ironically, I did training in Cline's hometown, there were signs everywhere couldn't forget.
I am not taking anything away from Dolly. Lorretta Lynn is LEGEND. 24 number ones not to mention her songs that charted in the top ten. She broke so much ground for other women. Mama's Got The Pill was extremely controversial. She was and still is the Queen of Country Music.
Dolly respects any and everyone who deserves it. Tremendous humanitarian who is still working for acceptance for people who don't have it. Dolly Parton godtier person
Loretta Lynn is known as the Queen of country music for good reason. Coal miner's daughter is a song she wrote about her childhood. Most of her songs are written about her life experiences. The movie Coal miner's daughter is one of the best biographical movies you will ever see
Loretta Lynn was Dolly’s idol. Patsy Cline and Loretta Lynn were friends, and famous, before anyone heard of Dolly Parton. So Dolly is giving respect to her idol in this video. 😃
Loretta seemed to stay pregnant and she wrote a song about The Pill. (birth control pill). Loretta is the Queen of Country. We lost her not too long ago. She did many duets with Conway Twitty and they had a very loving and respectful friendship. You would like her song called "Fist City".
My current list of all time great country females, Loretta, Dolly, Tammy Wynette, Reba, and of course, Patsy Cline who blazed the way for all who came after. Loretta and Patsy were best friends before Patsy's tragic death in a plane crash. Yes, they were singing about mama's got the Pill, as in the birth control pill, Loretta wrote the song about women no longer being forced to be pregnant when they didn't want to be and the song was banned on the radio in a lot of places. The best Loretta song of all time as far as I'm concerned for telling it like it is...is Fist City!
Loretta was an OG. She got her start shortly after Patsy Cline, in fact they were friends. Loretta's sister is also a Country legend and goes by the name of Crystal Gayle.
Loretta Lynn was one of the few performers who had a movie made about her life and Sissy Spacek won an Oscar for portraying her. That should tell you a little bit about Loretta Lynn. Check out "Coal Miner's Daughter". Song and movie.
Dolly is from Eastern Tenn. And Loretta is from Eastern Kentucky Both in Coal Country About 150 miles from each other. Also most of Loretta's songs are Autobiographical, Her Late Husband Do' little was a drinker and woman chaser but she stayed with him until he died. Some of Loretta's Best music are her duets with Conway Twitty
RATED X was one of many Loretta Lynn songs that were banned from radio play, but still hit the top of the charts based on sales. It's about how divorced women were seen in the late 60s/early 70s. Loretta never stopped writing and recording, and toured until she was in her late 80s. When she died, she still had 3,000 songs written that she hadn't recorded, and was in the middle of a 5 album deal. Coal Miner's Daughter was the first movie to be made about a female country music artist's life, and was based off her autobiography Coal Miner's Daughter. She had a 60 year career, with many firsts for women, and was the most awarded female country music artist. Her motto was "Don't quit. Keep working. Never retire."...and she didn't. You can get a better understanding of her by watching 60 Minutes Uncut Loretta Lynn. Mike Wallace spends time with Loretta on tour.
Loretta was a queen of country music along with Patsy Cline. Also they were best friends. If you wanna know about her life check a movie called Coal Miners Daughter it's a truly beautiful movie and its filled with great music. That song Coal Miners Daughter is a tribute to her father and mother and how hard they worked, how little they had but the house was always full of love. You should listen to that song. I've heard it about 100,000 times and it still bring a tear to my eyes.
Now you need to react to The Queen of Country Music Loretta Lynn doing all of those songs! She wrote and sang about real life, and some was controversial, like The Pill, Rated X (which is about the stigma of being a divorced woman). She had many songs banned from radio but still had #1 songs out of them. The song Coalminer's Daughter is about her life.
Got to personally meet Loretta when I was stationed in Germany. She autographed my wife's picture for me. She was such a country sweetheart. My wife's picture was the only thing I had for her to write on. They are both together in heaven now.
Miss Loretta died last year, she was the undisputed Queen of Country music. "Coal Miner's Daughter" was the song she wrote about her youth. There was a movie of the same name, in 1980. It won a lot of awards, including a best actress Oscar, for Sissy Spacek's portrayal of Loretta. BTW, Loretta was married at age 13. ruclips.net/video/6hnuKNXAp9E/видео.html
Loretta was/is my favorite female artist of all time. I grew up listening to country music, it is definitely the greatest gift my parents ever gave me. You really should listen to her duets with the great Conway Twitty!!!
My father, grandfather and uncles were all coal miners. My dad was 15 when he started. I still have several male family members who are coal miners. It’s a hard life. 37% of the world’s electricity is still generated from coal. I think of my dad every time I turn a light on.
I would love for her to reaction to fist city by Loretta. Miss Lynn is one greatest country singer of all time. Yea they singing about birth control in the 60. Rest in peace Loretta Lynn the world is a worse place with out you.
Loretta was s straight shooter! She wrote about her own life experiences & stayed true to herself. She said in an interview the record co executives tried to get her change her diction, but it didn't work. I love that about her. An artist searches for something real. I heard a tune from Loretta a few years before her passing; it returned to "Old Timey" roots, not country, but further back to Old Timey... Hearing that, as I grow older: it was REAL. We grow older. We KNOW death is coming. We confront Death and Love as we age... And here is Loretta singing "Ain't no time to go, darling..." Thank You, Loretta, for putting a timeless feeling into a timeless musical form: ruclips.net/video/gtmy7Wn31SE/видео.html
You should check out the movie Coal Minors Daughter about the life of LL. While country isn't my preferred genre of music. I have so much respect for the talents of these two ladies.
Loretta is the Queen of Country. You should watch her movie "Coal Miners Daughter" 😊
Loretta, came after Patsy Cline and before Dolly. Loretta, told it like it was in her songs. R.I.P. Loretta
Patsy took Loretta under her wing and they became the best of friends.
Loretta was known as the queen of country music. A true icon! Her career spanned six decades! RIP 🙏🌹
Tennessee meets Kentucky! Great singing!

And Sissy Spacek could hold her own in the singing department. There are some great videos of Loretta and Sissy singing together.

I love the way they rhyme “hard” with “tired”. My dad was from Tennessee and I have an unknown number of cousins from back there! 👵🏼💜☮️

"delved" is a perfect word to talk about coal mining. "You'll Never Leave Harlan Alive" really paints that picture.
I cannot tell you how happy it makes me that you have discovered the roots of country music. Oh my goodness, you are so beautiful.
Dolly is always great. I would recommend "My Father's Daughter " by Jewel and Dolly Parton ❤️

I'm from NEPA and everyone has relatives that were involved in the coal or railroad industry. It's the way this part of the country was built. Both of my grandfathers played professional baseball before WW2. Afterwards one was the guy in the caboose of the train in that little shack on the top speaking to the engineer with Morse code. The other was a welder for the coal mines, his name literally means Bender of metal.
