Reba said she literally heard a collective gasp & thought ‘Uh-oh.’🤣🤣 I never saw a problem w it but now there is DEFINITELY no problem w it & you’re 💯 right- it is iconic. Reba recently (yes!) appeared live in the dress at an awards show performance and, as they say- the crowd went wild!!
Linda Davis was a backup singer & dancer for Reba. After this duet, she even had a few solo hits herself.
Long before Reba did a Vegas residency (with Brooks & Dunn), her concerts were like a Vegas show. My first Reba concert I counted 17 wardrobe changes. Crazy!

This dress was considered highly inappropriate at the time, and she lost a lot of fans because of it. She wore it recently to redo this song as a big "You didn't break me, and I still look amazing."

Ok, it’s the 90’s we were still wearing big hair and the dresses were formal back then, our prom dresses were long, some had hoops, but never did we have to worry about bending and someone seeing our unmentionables. There are many duets out there where it seems like they are trying to one up each other but in this with Reba and Linda Davis they literally compliment each other and it is just so seamless.

This is a classic performance. Your response that they don't do music like this anymore, is why so many of us are disappointed in today's country music. There were some incredible talents back in the day. I think that is Vince Gill at the end of the performance. He is an impressive singer in his own right and would be worth checking out. It will have you in your feels and her voice will give you chills (it's beautiful!!). Of note: it was written by the lead singer during her divorce from her cheating husband. She wrote the song from the "other" woman's perspective!!!🤯 It's incredibly moving!!!😌

What I find really cool about this song is the refrain. They are singing the same questions, but they have very different answers for each girl.
"Does he love you, like he loves me?" You love your wife very differently that you love your mistress. Reba is asking "do you get that endless, committed love that I have". Linda is asking does he love you with passion and desire. "Does he whisper all his fantasies?" Fantasies with your wife are life goals. Things you want to accomplish together. Fantasies with your lover are more; hey baby, can you do that thing you do, or can you wear that little dress I love.

Okay, I'm going to give you a messy little storytime because I think you might just appreciate it 😂My mom and her best friend used to do this duet at karaoke all the time as an inside joke, and for good reason. They actually met because my mom's ex boyfriend was cheating on her with her now bff, and not even that, but cheating on THEM BOTH with the woman he would eventually run away to live with (skipping bail in the process) who lived in a different state. But he had my mom's friend convinced she was coming with him when he left my mom, all the way up until the point she legit SOLD HER HOUSE. So, all things said and done, she ended up moving in with us in his place for a while, haha.

But, getting back to "Does He Love You?" In my opinion, it is the perfect Country Song! Reba always belts out every song that she sings to perfection! She has such a beautiful voice! Vince also has a great song called "Go Rest High on that Mountain" which features a 3 part harmony. He started writing it after the country artist Keith Whitley passed from alcoholism, and didn't finish it until a couple of years later when his brother passed away.

This is what I would say also.
Liza's music director I believe wrote that song. When Reba and Linda didn't win the award they were nominated for, Liza told her she was a winner and gave her the diamond bracelet Liza was wearing. It was the same diamond bracelet she wore in Caberet. Reba still has the bracelet and said she will never part with it.

Little background since you asked :)...This was at the 1993 CMA's, the guy sitting next to Liza is Billy Stritch who wrote the song, he was dating Liza at the time so he brought her to the award show. Reba has always been known for her wholesome look, so walking out in that red dress, and I quote Reba "I got more press that night, than if I had won any award". The dress is iconic, she brought it back out for the 25th anniversary of the song and her and Kelly Clarkson sung it at the ACM awards a few years ago...Reba still looked stunning in it!!! Ill say it once, Ill say it again, if you react to Reba, you really need to react to the OFFICIAL VIDEO, although this was a great performance, the video she made for this song, blows it out of the water!!!!!
