Reba Mcentire and Dolly Pardon are the Queens of Country to me.
Amen
loretta lynn is another though
SPOT FRIGGING ON. I met BOTH of them. Been in love with them since then...much to the chagrin of my wife of 50 years.
She still tours and let me tell you if you get a chance go see her . She still puts on a good show you won't be disappointed .
And Reba’s speaking voice is exactly the same as her singing voice.
Reba has been singing every since 1975. I grew up listening to her on the radio.
I've been in love with Reba most of my life. And she will never know.
Reba’s accent comes from being g raised on her daddy’s cattle ranch in Oklahoma. She was raised as a cowgirl. She also would sing at the local rodeos when she was just a girl.
Britt, this was written by songwriter Bobby Russell. Bobby was married to actor/comedienne Vicki Lawrence from the Carol Burnett show. Vicki recorded this and had a fair success with it. Reba did a cover of it later in her career. The other song you mentioned, Fancy, was also a cover for Reba. That one was sung and written by Bobbi Gentry, who had a big hit with it and her best known song Ode to Billy Joe. She wrote and recorded several great songs, before deciding one day to stop and do other things.
"Fair Success"? Vicki's version went to number 1. Reba's version topped out at 12. Just sayin'
@@lbfuller5013 Vicki's was much better as well
@@lbfuller5013 I agree LB.
@@lbfuller5013 l agree. Vickis has a more of a mysterious sound to it & is slower.
@@lbfuller5013 came here to say that!
Duet....Reba MacIntyre and Linda Davis...."Does He Love You?"....one of the best duets ever!
Or the Re-Recording as a duet with Dolly Parton! :)
I concur.
I concur!!
Not to mention the video.
She needs to watch the official video, as opposed to the live performance.
She is beautiful inside and out! I love her!!
"The Greatest Man I Never Knew" by Reba is an amazing song that tells a great story
One of my favorites of Reba's songs.
I never could figure that song out until we saw Reba live and she explained that song was about her dad.
Breaks my heart every time I hear it. Same with "Somewhere in My Broken Heart".
Thanks for reminding me about that beautiful song?
For my Brocken heart was in memory of her traveling band. Most of them died in a plane crash. The greatest man I never knew is amazing and for a great up tune, why haven’t I heard from you
Reba has a knack of turning one syllable into 2 or 3 syllables… and I’m here for it. She is an icon!
My mom did that also. She was from hazard ky
Yeah, you've got it. "Brother", blinded by rage, went out to kill his ex-best-friend Andy. His anger quickly cools when he finds Andy already dead, and fires a shot to alert a passing police patrol. They accuse him, he's quickly tried and hanged by a sheriff and judge with little interest in straining themselves to look beyond the obvious answer, and no one ever discovers that "Little Sister", the narrator, had gone out to avenge her brother earlier that night, killing both Andy _and_ her faithless sister-in-law.
There is a video of a much older Reba ( the little sister) telling her story to a reporter. The video is really good after you've heard just the song and know the story. You should check it out. You get to see some acting from Reba.
The only word that comes to mind when I see Reba is "regal". I love watching this venture you are on.
There are a lot of great story tellers in country music but for me Reba and Dolly are my favorites.
Reba is one of the top. I love me some Kenny Rogers and Garth Brooks.
And Loretta
@@don-o-seven1437 Definitely 👍 I love The Gambler
“Coward of the county” was another great story by Kenny Rogers
As far as women… more recently I would say Miranda, Carry and Martina are great storytellers, too. :)
Amazing singer. Enjoyed your reaction. Watched her sitcom too. She is also a funny talented actress. And her movie Tremors.
Ok!!!
I loved her movie Tremors. I have not seen that movie since I was a kid. I need to see if I can find it and watch again. Just hope it do t let me down like some of the old movies I watched as a kid and thought was so funny and great. Watch today and think what was I thinking. Like the movie “Porkys” thought that movie was soooo funny.
Reba is the Queen and George is the King!
Oh girl, *I* personally want you to go down this rabbit hole...and no, nobody can even stand next to Reba - she is the GOAT in female country music. PERIOD.
I saw Reba live back in the day, I was up front and on one song, she looked right at me! I damned near fainted! Will never forget it!
Reba is one of the greatest country singer of our time. One of the ladies that paved the way for female singers in Country music was Lorretta Lynn. If you like twang you are just going to Love Lorretta. BTW Reba called her "Mama Lorretta". That's what is great about the country genre is the Love and respect they have for one another. Also Lorretta like Dolly Parton wrote most of her songs. Like "You Ain't Woman Enough to Take My Man", which she wrote after Dolly's "Jolene".
Alan H, well said.
Beautiful woman and voice. She was a singer long before becoming a actress. I named one of my beagles REBA BECAUSE OF REBA. 20+ years ago
In 1981 there was a miniseries for this song starring Dennis Quaid, Kristy McNichol, and Mark Hamill. You need to watch the video with Reba because you missed the whole story
Reba knocked this out of the park. She is just amazing and spectacular. A fabulous story teller. Just brilliant.
That’s one of the best things about Country Music-the stories
When I listen to Reba I randomly remember that in 1991, 7 members of her band and her manager were killed when the plane they were on crashed. Reba was supposed to be on the flight, but she wasn't feeling well, so she decided to stay overnight and join them the next day. As expected, it devastated her.
Reba’s first #1 was in 1982. She had 13 number one singles in the 80’s. 8 in the 90’s. 3 in the 2000’s. For a total of 24. Only one female performer has more. Dolly at 25 number 1 singles.
The night that the lights went out in Georgia was released in 1991. Fancy was released in 1990.
girl you got a great voice yourself!
She does!
Agreed!
She was a singer long before the tv shows or the movies.
Before she was a singer she was a rodeo 'Barrel Racer" cowgirl. She was selected to sing the National Anthem one night, a record producer heard her sing and the rest is Reba history.
I saw Reba in concert back in 1992 or 93 and she put on one heck of a show. She must have changed clothes ten times during the concert, but you never noticed her leave the stage. I'm talking about switching outfits during one song and coming back wearing something different. She is a phenomenal talent and performer.
I saw her I think a bit later. It was done as theater in the round in a basketball arena. Her entrance was a plane crashing into the right end of the stadium; from my view. She dropped below stage a few times and came out in other outfits. Incredible showman.
I saw her in about 96, utterly amazing. Her and Linda Davis came right over my head in a lifted cage singing Does he love you. Linda was utterly gorgeous as well as Reba. Both were so amazing.
My goodniess I love Reba I have been listening to her since the 80s she is my favorite country female singer in the whole world dang
When i was a kid, i didn't like country music, but my sibs and I could sing every word to this song
That's why I love Country music. I love the stories and I love the songs from the heart. Definitely down the Earth music.
Love your reactions! Please do one to "Ode to Billy Joe" by Bobbie Gentry. She wrote it and I think you'll love it. It will get you thinking, and its definitely a southern story. Haunting.
“The Greatest Man I Never Knew”by Reba is a must listen
Reba is my favorite singer along with Dolly and Kenny.
Girl... you have some pipes too!
Reba is one of the greatest female vocalists ever. She is my favorite female singer.
This song was originally sung by Vikki Lawrence. Reba did the cover both did it justice.
If you remember the TV show, Reba, she sang the theme song to the show. It's called I'm a Survivor.
Reba, such a collection of music to get lost in!!
Great reaction. Reba is wonderful, and this is my favorite Reba song. I also like her song Whoever's In New England. I think you'd like it too.
Yes that’s an awesome song. The start of music videos for her. She was awesome
An excellent cover. The original artist, believe it or not, was Vickie Lawrence, who got famous on the Carol Burnett Show.
Sister killed them both!!❤ There is a video of this song too!❤❤🔥🔥
This video was the first time I've heard you sing. Beautiful.
Ms. Thang!!! Your pipes are pipping too! Girl you got a fire voice! Do a cover of this!!! Loves yas
I love how excited you were…. I’ve loved Reba and her storytelling since I was a child 😊
Wonderful reaction. Now watch the video - It goes into the story even more. I had already liked the song before I saw that video ; but after seeing it - let me like the song even more so.
First time i heard Reba was in OKC, OK at the National Finals Rodeo back in 1973, I’ve been a fan ever since
Love miss Reba! I see u love her too. I hear u too girl, u got pipes, I can tell.
You want to hear one hell of a voice, listen to Reba's "You Lied"....amazing!
I think you would like the official video of Brooks and Dunn, staring Reba. “Cowgirls Dint Cry”
You seem to always make me smile. I love your reactions. Keep up the excellent work.
Classic Reba, awesome.
The question of the day is Why are you so good Britt and where have you been? You really should have your own TV show!
Omg that would be a dream come true!!! Thank you so much!
My first crush ever. I love me so Reba
Fabulous song by one of my favorite singers! You are fabulous too Britt and you have a beautiful voice!!
One that you definitely need to review for Reba is her duet featuring Linda Davis called "Does He Love You?" Her music video for that song is amazing!
I love me some Reba.
reba has numerous great songs. One of her earlier hits was SOMEBODY SHOULD LEAVE, a song about the heartbreak of divorce when kids are involved. Another of my favorites is WHEN WHOEVER’S IN NEW ENGLAND’S THROUGH WITH YOU, about an unfaithful husband and a longsuffering wife.
I went to see her for like 10 years in a row...now a days she acts out the songs versus the stage acts.....she is STILL amazing though. Her singing "I think his name is John" with the AIDS blanket is INCREDIBLE!!!!! Reba is an alley to ALL!
Thank you for your reaction, since that's all I can see,the last 5 or 6 videos we're Transparent, but thank you for your reaction hope you have a blessed day 🙏
Loved your reaction and yes she's just that good all the time. Look forward to seeing your next reaction!
Yes she is that good all the time.
She is that good all the time
"The throat box is boxing." 🤣🤣🤣
Am i right or am i right?!? She can SANGGG!!!!! 😂😂
@@brittreacts OMG, you are 100% right! She can saaang and her face says more with a raised eyebrow and a crooked little smile than a half hour monologue ever could! Cheeky is such a perfect word for her. Lol. You should try, "Does He Love You?" ft. Linda Davis, who was one of her backup singers for years. The video is so 80s, but that's a must-see part of the experience and the two of them pitted against each other vocally is such a treat! Not only does Reba have it all going on vocally in technique and talent, she just has that thing that immediately identifies her when you hear her singing a song you've never heard before. You hear it begin and your mind helpfully says, "Hey, that's Reba!" Because it just can't be anyone else. And how fabulous to be so very, very, quintessentially, undeniably YOU that you are among the one-named wonders of the world. ❤️
@Melly Not to mention Linda's daughter, Hillary Scott, who is one third of Lady A. Need You Now is always a great introduction to Lady A.
@@rowanmayfair9249 Hillary's song, "Thy Will Be Done" just takes my breath away every time I hear it. What an incredible voice!
@@Melly01 Yes!!!!
Because of You is a must watch Reba song!!
You will find a story in most Country Music!! Try Miranda! Lambert live at the awards. Just her & a guitar singing...Tin Man!! You'll Love it & everything else she sings!! 💖 Reba was a great concert!!
The video for this song is GREAT
The video for this song is pretty cool, too. Her videos are always mini movies. (Trivia: Reba used to ride as a barrel racer back in her native Oklahoma.) I was raised on country, and one of the things I've always loved about it is that the songs almost always told stories. There are SO many excellent story songs out there...
Flashback! Thank you!
Britt, if you like ballads, there are a few other artists you need to check out; Bob Seeger (Night Moves and Hollywood Nights), Gordon Lightfoot (Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald), and Charlie Daniels (Devil went down to Georgia) to name three. Hmmm, Georgia seems to be the place for a lot of mischief doesn't it?😊
Huge fan of Bob Seger's "Turn the Page".
Funny thing, at the time this was set that was considered "Justifiable Homicide" in Georgia.
She did a reaction to Devil Went Down To Georgia
Dont forget Travis Tritt
Should have done the official video! It is phenomenal!!
YES! I've been watching reactions to this song and a lot of people either do this live performance or the audio, but not the official music video
Soooooo glad you watched a live version of this first!!! Every now & then, rarely, a video might distract some from lyrics or meaning; if you aren’t familiar with the song, the official video can lose you a bit. That said, it’s another great video production. I mean- it’s Reba lol!!!!
There actually was a movie made back in the 80s lol!
Kelly Clarkson was Reba’s Daughter in Law; they will no doubt remain family forever❤️ Their duet of Because of You is a great one!
Also:
•If I Were A Boy, official video
•Just Like Them Horses, official video
… and catch her w Cody Johnson on ‘Dear Rodeo’. Yes- before she was a famous singer, before she was a television & Broadway actress- Ms Reba was a rodeo queen! Superwoman in the flesh😊 👑 🌹 Love the song. Isn’t life like a rodeo?? We all just try to hang on, grab the bull by the horns, & every now & then a clown shows up😊🥰. But I think particular to the song, nearly anything can be analogous to the Rodeo Reba & Cody sing of.
Another great reaction; Thank You!
Stay safe & love much💖
great voice indeed.
Just came out a couple weeks ago so worth the listen!!!!!!!!
You review the music I grew up on and I love watching your reactions by experiencing them for the first time. You can sing too!!! You are beautiful on the inside and out!
I am truly enjoyed your reaction to real country music I truly wish more people get into real country again versus today pop country you're right it does tell a story thank you for your reaction
The video brings it all together
I just found you and I LOVE your reactions! Reba is the best and so are you. Her official vids always tell a great story and play out like a short film.
They made a movie about this song. It's also called The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia.
My Favorite Reactor Ever, REBA DELIVERED!
About Bobbi Gentry, Ode to Billy Joe is a masterpiece written by Gentry. It’s a must!! ♥️
Reba was a huge country music star looooong before she got a tv show. I grew up on her, garth, dolly… all the greats
As mentioned watch the official video. Also watch the video to the duet with Linda Davis who is the mother of one of the Lady A singers. The song is Does he love you?
This is an example of a "murder ballad" a form of folk tale like Tom Dooley or Stagger Lee.
great song......
Another couple good songs of Reba’s is ‘Just Like Them Horses’ & ‘Somebody’s Chelsea’
Reba is a distant relation of mine from the oklahoma side of the family shes always been excellent at everything she does fancy was one of her later songs if remember correctly this was on the same album.
If only on your own PLEASE watch the official video! It's fantastic work!
the reigning queen of country
She's my favorite 🤩🤩 I knew every note of her live album from the late 80s!
Reba has an amazing voice
This, Does He Love You, If You See Him/If You See Her (duet with Brooks & Dunn), Why Haven't I Heard From You, Fancy (both remixes are fan-fing-tastic!) and Somebody are good jumping off points for Reba.
The Mini- movie Starred Kristy Mcnichol. she was a star from a tv show Called "Family" and another Called "Empty nest".
It was a movie actually, back in the 80s. But... and featured different lyrics and timeline to fit the film. That version was sung by Tanya Tucker.
You should listen to the Vicki Lawrence version. This song was written by her husband. Vicki was on the Carol Burnette Show, Mama’s Family and Hannah Montana.
Loved this very few people get that on the first go it’s a tricky song with a GREAT story
Don't mess with my girl REBA.. she has it all..
You got a beautiful voice.
You have a beautiful voice!
