@@impudentdomainI think your comment is kind of naive like you've watched too much 1950s TV programs.
There was a complete caste system in the music industry and there still is, just not as bad as it was then and women of any color were on the Bottom Rung of the ladder. Most of them barely got royalties for the hits that made lots of money for the recording studios and the contracts we're horrible. That's the whole reason why so many musical artists have died in Airplane crashes. They have to pay for the cheapest planes that they can get because they can't afford to fly safely. They didn't have touring contracts that covered expenses and tax deductions back then. And none of that even takes into consideration the hierarchy of the male-dominated Christian society that firmly believed women were servants to men.

Patsy Cline was a favorite of my whole family. My Aunt Cheryl had Down’s Syndrome. She was dying at a hospital out of town. I took my small tape recorder that I used to record college lectures out there to her so she could hear her beloved Country & Western Music. I also took a case of several cassettes I knew she would love. My Momma was there with my Aunt’s favorite nephew. They had my Patsy Cline tape playing. Mom said Cheryl’s breathing got slower, her heart beat got slower. She took her last breath at the end of the last song. When the cassette stopped playing, was her last heartbeat. Mom couldn’t listen to Patsy after that. Aunt Cheryl was God’s very special gift to our family.
Every time I hear her sing, I adjust the volume to just the perfect level for that song. Her voice gives me chills.
My Aunt couldn’t read. She had thousands of 45 single records, lots of 33 complete albums, and many cassettes. I would go in her room and ask her to play any song. The labels on the 45’s were rubbed off. It always amazed me how she could go right to the song you asked her for in a stack of records 2’-3’ high. When I got older, I realized she never could read anyway. I never solved that mystery.
I strongly feel that Aunt Cheryl is up in Heaven and is the foremost Country & Western DeeJay. I can’t wait to see who she’ll introduce me too when I get there.

In the late 60s at about 12 yrs old I went to a friend's house and when she let me in her dad's hi-fi was blaring this very song. I asked her, Who is that singing? She told me Patsy Cline. Why ? You like this crap?
It's beautiful I told her and she laughed that it was her Dad's country bumpkin music. And from that day fwd she called me Bumpkin 😅.
In the 70s when country became crossover music on FM Rock stations she was humbled a little...but not much.

There is a version of I Fall to Pieces that is an engineered duet merging Patsy’s recording with Jim Reeve’s recording. Reeves was a perfect male counterpoint to Patsy with that smooth but emotional tone to his singing. That “duet” was on a jukebox at a beach bar I used to go to in my much younger years. Now this is the legend .. that when Leann Rhimes debuted with her hit Blue.. everyone was like ohhhhhhh ... wow.. she has a bit of the ghost of Patsy Cline in this young girl coming out!! It was nuts.. and then Leann proved to the world she is her own undeniable talent ... and can sing the phonebook.. and proved that on the masked singer all these years later.. but this isn't about Leann.. this is about the legend that is Patsy Cline and ..... I have loved her my whole life. My first introduction to Patsy was my dad .. who was a singer in a country band before he passed away at 29... and he had me on his lap as a 18 month old.. while he strummed on his guitar and sang Patsy's Crazy. She and Hank Williams Sr. were his fave artists of the time.. and so I was raised on great music. lol Anyways... my dad was country and mum was rock and roll and opera! What a pair they made!! hahaha My point here.. is Walking After Midnight is your next must listen of Patsy's!!!! Love being on this journey with you Peg! Thank you for the fun content!! Cheers from Canada 😊🍁

Patsy had a very unique voice, perfect for ballads. I love that yodel break in her voice, it's one of her trademarks.....Another song to review I suggest is 'Sweet Dreams of You', 'She's Got You', 'San Antonio Rose'......Walking After Midnight as well!...There will never be another singer quite like Patsy...she stands alone and head and shoulders above the others.

Patsy Cline is in a class on her own! She was a tough cookie with a timeless voice! Sweet dreams is a great song as well! When I was young my Aunt would play a cassette of classic old school country music. My mom (who is her twin) cousin snd myself would all be in the dining room playing cards and we all would be singing away! Patsy 1st was in a car accident with her brother driving were she had to undergo several surgeries to her face and then a few years later she was flying home from a concert when the plane propellers stopped working the plane crashed into the mountains! Her made for tv movie biopic was really good you might like it! She was a tough lady! She didn’t take no crap from anyone including her husband! In those days you had to be strong willed! Patsy and Loretta Lynn’s biopic are very good! They were very close friends! Loretta was pregnant with twins she named them Peggy and Patsy after her late friend! It broke my heart watching Loretta Lynne go through so much pain and heartache over Patsys Clines death they were suppose to baby shopping. RIP to two pioneers and powerhouses! ❤

Thanks, Peg - all of her stuff is awesome... (she got that "yodel" ability) appreciate your reaction! (p.s. "Crazy" was written by Willie Nelson.. he does his own version, but it will always be remembered as Patsy's signature song... )

she has some of the most heartwrenching break-up songs imagineable. many years ago i dated a guy for 2-3 yrs but by then realized it wasn't going anywhere. he wanted it to continue just the way it was, but i could no longer do that, so i broke up with him and, even though i've never been much for country (grew up with rock and roll), i listened to nothing but patsy cline for weeks.

Here's another Country Legend that i think has been forgotten.
Please do a reaction to Eddy Arnold "There's Been a Change in me" I believe you will love his story telling and probably his voice. He is my Dad's favorite country singer from the 50s and 60s. My Dad sang his songs at USO shows and VA hospital in Chicago after he got out of the Army during the Korean War. He was even said in newspaper reviews he sounded a lot like him. My Dad is 92 now. Thank you
