Patsy Cline had one of the best country voices around. She had so many great hits such as "She's Got You", "When I Get Through With You", "Sweet Dreams", "So Wrong", "Leavin' on Your Mind", "Walkin' After Midnight", "I Fall To Pieces" "San Antonio Rose", "Blue Moon Of Kentucky", "Half As Much", "He Called Me Baby", "Faded Love", "Imagine That". She was only 31 when she died in a plane crash in 1963. In 1985 Jessica Lange starred in the movie about Patsy's life called "Sweet Dreams". Home Free does a beautiful cover of "Crazy". Hope you check it out.
That's not accurate get back to that day and age sir Willie did record it at one of those walk in and record places it's the demo they rejected that is how Willie tells that story but I'm not Willie and will never smoke weed with him again but I do remember that story before he lit it up@@Jack96993
Home Free does an amazing cover of this song. Patsy's rendition of "Sweet Dreams" is a song to die for. The opening note almost leaves me in tears every time I hear it.
I became a teen about the time Patsy hit the national charts - - country and pop - so grew up listening to her, I love watching first timers eyes glaze over and they start to sway in their chairs. Patsy just reaches inside you, pure and simple
Patsy felt every song she sang. She had a cry in her voice. One of the greatest female singers ever. She opened/kicked down doors for future female singers in Country Music. Here is a list: 1 Kitty Wells 2 Patsy Cline 3 Loretta Lynn 4 Dolly Parton 5 Tammy Wynette Listen to "Sweet dreams" & "Faded Love" Patsy was really crying when she recorded these songs. PATSY will break your heart by the time you finish "Faded Love"!!!! We lost her way to soon. Patsy & Loretta Lynn were bfs. Watch the movie about Loretta Lynn "Coal Miners Daughter." You will love Loretta too.
Thank you for this great comment! You are right, she DID have a "cry" in her voice. I hope you will stick around the channel, because comments like this help me so much. Thank you!
Hard to believe she recorded this just a few days after being in a car accident head on and had broken ribs and I think a wrist too!!! When she recorded this…
Written by the great Willie Nelson. He first called the song "Stupid" but thank goodness changed the title. Patsy did not want to record it because Willie sings it a little behind the beat like a jazz singer. She sings i on the beat. Great post, great song and great performance. Thanks from deep in the heart of Texas.
1961. Recorded three weeks after in a head-on car wreak. Fractured her ribs and scars on her forehead from hitting the windshield. Headband covers her scars. 'Walkin' After Midnight' was the song that brought attention to her in 1957 performing on Arthur Godrey's Talent Scout show..
The story also has it that Patsy didn't really like the song initially and didn't want to record it. Her husband finally talked her into it at the end of another session. It was late, she was tired and she really didn't like the song so she gave them one take. It doesn't seem like much more was needed
This was what is called the "Nashville sound" in the early 1960s, country went more sophisticated, use of strings and orchestral sounds, vs the old days where it was largely drums and guitars, and that unmistakable piano playing by legend Floyd Cramer, along with the backing vocals done by the Jordanaires who sang back up for Patsy, Elvis, Brenda Lee, and many other artists in that era. Patsy was gone much too soon in a plane crash but the recordings she left are unequalled.
Thank you so much for the info... I am in the process of uploading my first reaction to ELVIS! lol OMG I can't with these artists...they are beyond words. Maybe I was born at the wrong time!
Crazy fact the bandana on her forehead wasn't a fashion statement it was covering a large wound shortly before this performance patsy was in a car accident she also had broken ribs
For me the best rendition for this song is by Home Free the singer this time in the group is Austin Brown . The reason is this song was originally written for a man to sing but in those time late 50s early 60s no male would sing it because of the lyrics about crying male matco Patsy had just had a hit and she needed a follow on her manager got to hear about this song so he got her to do it
You should watch the movie "Coal Miner's Daughter". It is about Loretta Lynn, but she and Patsy Cline were friends, o you see a lot of their interactions. And you here a lot of good country music from this period.
Just to inform you, she somehow some two weeks after she broke her ribs in a car accident I can’t understand how she could breathe properly talk about a woman that has power. She was killed in a plane crash at 30 years old.RIP beautiful Patsy
@@Baystreetboy1947 Willie isn't late yet! Still performing. Slowed a bit but still, thank God, with us. If you have never heard his son Lukas, check him out! Sounds just like his dad!
Entertainers dressed much more modestly during this period because they were talented and professional They didn’t need to get undressed to get noticed

patsy cline was the most influentual female vocalist of the 20th century
One of the GREATEST female voices of ALL time.
Won't argue with that.
she sang all her songs like she was living it
The small town I grew up in, you couldn't go into any cafe with a juke box w/o hearing this song! It was so horrible when she died!

Oh thank you so much! I will!
More than 60 years later I'm still crazy about this song!
Gone before her time. She had one of the best voices in country music. Thanks, Angel. You need to hear more from her
Your eyes told the whole story !! Love it.
Song was written by Willie Nelson.
And she altered some of the lyrics.
That was my comment. Pays to scroll down.
Willie wasn't allowed to record the song as they thought his voice wasn't good enough for it
That's not accurate get back to that day and age sir Willie did record it at one of those walk in and record places it's the demo they rejected that is how Willie tells that story but I'm not Willie and will never smoke weed with him again but I do remember that story before he lit it up@@Jack96993
One of first country singers to have cross over hits. Jim Reeves another

Another great reaction! You are so incredible! Love ya girl! ;-)
Sweet dreams is the next song from Patsy you must do!! Others to do are, faded love, she's got you, walking after midnight,

She's Got You by Patsy is a great sad song.
To my understanding this was taped after she was in a car accident. The head band covered a scar. Others say she had broken ribs.
You might check out 13 year old LeAnn Rimes' official video of "Blue" (she was 13 going on 30). She sounds a lot like Patsy.
The first time I heard "Blue" I thought I had some way missed that Patsy song.
Patsey Cline could make her voice seem like she was crying.
This song was written by Willie Nelson. Check out "Sweet Dreams".
Faded Love by Patsy

leaving on your mind- Patsy cline
Willie Nelson, who wrote the song, tells the story that it was originally, "Stupid," instead of "Crazy."
Crazy fact the bandana on her forehead wasn't a fashion statement it was covering a large wound shortly before this performance patsy was in a car accident she also had broken ribs
What a voice, and taken from us way too soon.
Excellent job Always live or Video 50s threw 80s 😊

Sweet Dreams was also a wonderful song of hers. You should also check out the movie that was made about her.
I Fall to Pieces is a timeless classic.
Paths invented the 'cry' with the best pipes ever!!
Now that is what you call a real singer. There's Celine and Freddie Mercury, but nobody like Patsy.
You should watch the movie "Coal Miner's Daughter". It is about Loretta Lynn, but she and Patsy Cline were friends, o you see a lot of their interactions. And you here a lot of good country music from this period.
Talet....is the biggest thing in these older country songs....pure talent
I’ve heard she had st broken ribs from a car accident when she sang this song.
She did.
the head band is covering head wound from serious car accident, and since she normally didnt move much when singing her broken ribs are not so evident
Hi i'd recommend checking out The Petersens cover of "Crazy".
Just to inform you, she somehow some two weeks after she broke her ribs in a car accident I can’t understand how she could breathe properly talk about a woman that has power. She was killed in a plane crash at 30 years old.RIP beautiful Patsy
Written by the great Willy Nelson.
1961- she had broken ribs when recording this track after almost dying in a a car crash
One of the greatest altos (along w/ Karen Carpenter) of all time.

i don't know about Canadian rule on the copywrite, but all the other people on here play songs all the way through.
No covers of this song can't touch patsy cline
Written by the late Willie Nelson.

But wait, now we have Cardi B and T Swift!
