I like the editing on this video--breaks to important parts and doesn't waist time watching her make a seam, not too much needless chatter. Very good! Thank you!!
Just wanted to let you know even after 5 years your still helping people learn this technique. Thank you for your help. I was able to make exactly enough continuous binding for my project on the first try! 💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻 doing a happy sewing dance!
I only learned about this method of making bias binding tonight and did my RUclips rounds to see who is teaching. You my dear have the clearest video AND best explanation. SOLD!
I’ve been sewing for over 45 years and this is the most helpful tip I’ve ever, ever, ever seen. My niece is a physician and she asked me to make 30 sets of scrub caps and masks for her and her staff. Thank you for this video!
Thank you SO much 🙏 I didn’t think I had enough fabric to bind my project. I found your video and only had a 17” square, but following your easy instructions I was able to create more than enough binding. I was so happy 🧡
I have watched other videos do this and I always end up confused where to draw the lines. But not today, could see entire piece of fabric so knew exactly where lines were to be drawn. Can't believe how simple yu made thus technque. I am so thankful your video is still being shown on YT.
Thank you so much! I'm making a quilt for the first time as an anniversary gift to my boyfriend, this tutorial and easy process is going to relieve much of the frustration I accumulated as I did the sewing, layering and quilting itself. Your video is a lifesaver!
I wish people would spend a few seconds showing how the off-set of the first strip works to make sure we get it lined up properly. Otherwise, this was a great video and I was able to accomplish making 10 yards of binding in no time!
There's a few other laboriously long videos that go into how to do this very methodically but I actually like this one as I can pause the video whilst watching and making at the same time.
Your video was perfect. Not only did I feel confident enough to make bias tape, it turned out perfectly. The tutorial was precise and straightforward. Thank you so much for sharing this method!
Thank you for this excellent video. With an 18” square of leftover fabric I made enough bias to make piping for covers for two dining room chairs. Such efficient use of the fabric!!
You are smart and amazing!! Thank you so much..I don't use a bias tool.. mark your width on your ironing board..then put a pin in it.."feed" your bias material through while ironing!! I love the old way..my mom is 91 and she does it the old fashioned way.. 🧓😇 Thank you the best bias video ever!!
I'm a beginner sewer and am so glad to have found your video! The fabric store in our area closed and anyway, the bias tape I'd buy wasn't what I wanted anyway...but it was fast. The other videos I watched were so daunting! This is simple and though I'll need to watch it a couple more times - I am confident I can do this...thank you so much!!!!
I tried it and got confused lining up the second seam but by some miracle it works. Thought u were crazy but I'm a believer now. Won't do bias tape any other way.
Excellent video. I learned this technique years ago but couldn't remember and I like that your video is quick and easy and right to the point. As others have said, not a lot of unnecessary chatter. There are many other videos for making bias strips, but this is by far the quickest and easiest in my opinion. Thanks much!
Excellent explanation! I've used this method for decades and am surprised that it is not more commonly taught. But you taught me one brilliant trick that makes the whole thing easier and faster - marking the cutting lines before sewing the second seam. Thanks! By the way, for those making masks, you don't need bias ties. Ties cut on the straight grain and folded over - with a bias tape maker, if you have one - work just fine and are easier to make.
Thank you so much! I had been struggling with an old quilting book's directions on how to make my own bias tape for edging. Your video uses a technique and has instructions that 100% connected with my brain. Even better, I got perfect results. Yea!
Thank you for this! You explained it so well and I always come back here when I forget how to make my own bias binding. It truly is so much better than store bought!
I watch this video every time I need to make continuous bias binding. This is by far the best tutorial on the subject. I don’t make it often enough to remember everything so thanks for posting this!
Yay! I love it! It took me a while to understand what you did after drawing the cutting lines, then how you pinned it together was confusing for me..but I worked backwards from the last edges that were pinned and it all worked out fine. Actually, excellently. soooo.. thankyou for teaching me this!! This is now my go-to method!
When I saw this video, I couldn't wait to try it out. "Magic" is right! I never knew that I could make bias strips with almost no wasted fabiric/useless triangles. This is a brilliant technique, that you explained very clearly. Thank youi for sharing it!
I watched other video and they matched the drawend lines together, But you lined them up a 1/4 inch apart and explained you can use any size 18x18,12x12 etc.. best video ❤👍🏼
OMG!!!! Why did I go with the first video I saw 🤦♀️ I could have saved myself a heck of a lot of time!!! Now I’m stuck with a gazillion little strips of fabric that I must turn this way and that way and try to pierce them together!!!! Thank you for this simple PERFECT method, especially for a beginner like me 😍❤️😍🇿🇦
Even though I watched this video before, I watched again today for a bag project where I need bias binding. I love making my own bias binding. This technique is great because, as Caroline said, there are no wasted odd triangle fabric pieces to add to our scrap bins. You are a great teacher, Caroline!
Great video! I wanted to make fabric napkins, but didn't have enough material to make it double-sided (self-binding). This video was straight to the point. I have twin flat sheets that I wanted to use to make napkins (happily the colours compliment each other nicely). Now I make some bias tape! TY.
I feel like i need to say this. I have tried to use this technique watching other videos but ultimately this is the one that i finally understood enough to be able to make my own so thanks so much!!
I loved your video! I had watched two others and was so confused! You show all the steps clearly and slowly and I finally learned how to do this. Thank YOU so much!!!

Stuck at home on the first day of my holidays. Half way through a dress to find it requires bias binding. Thank you so much. Very happy to have matching binding. Great clear video.
This was by far the best video I’ve seen on how to make bias binding. The bonus was it didn’t take her 30-minutes to show how to make bias binding in 5-minutes 😃. I finished making the binding so quickly I thought I had done something wrong, but I had done something all right 😅.
What a pleasant surprise! I expected a bunch of cuts and then sewing strips together! I know it says "continuous" but I didn't expect a FINISHED continuous bias binding! Thank you!
This is perfect. I make miles of the stuff from a small piece of about 18 inch square fabric. Ironing took forever. Hopefully next time I'll cut better. THe edges were wonky, but it still works for bias tape. Wish those folder-maker gadgets worked better. I'll have to try starching the fabric and try the home-made version of the folder again.

I have never made my own binding before and you have just blown my mind as I assumed there would be so much fabric waste and with this method there really isn't!

Thank you, I'm a beginner working on my second little baby quilt. I butchered the binding on the first one, so I was pretty happy to find your straightforward tutorial. Using your method, with lots of playing back at certain points, I made two long strips for a 5 x 3 quilt I plan to bind tomorrow. I was a lot more confident on that second strip, too. Cheers!

Just to clarify… 1. On the first cut, you’re looking to make a parallelogram when sewing the 2 pieces together. 2. When she says line this line up with this line, it isn’t very clear what “this” is. You want to line the 1st line at the beginning up to the 2nd line on the end. The second line at the beginning to the 3rd line on the end, and so forth. Overall good tutorial, thank you.🌼
Forgot to add, I started with 17.5” square as I messed up cutting 18”…lol and got just over 4 yds of 2” binding! Had less than a 1/4” of waste. Totally sold.

2. When she says line this line up with this line, it isn’t very clear what “this” is. You want to line the 1st line at the beginning up to the 2nd line on the end. The second line at the beginning to the 3rd line on the end, and so forth.
Overall good tutorial, thank you.🌼
I agree @Dillwinkle - and your tip was most helpful. Thanks. Otherwise great tutorial.
Yeahhh your purse at the end is what brought me here! :D LOVE this technique!! Doesn’t waste material at all - so efficient! That’s awesome!!
I was soooo skeptical but wow! Totally impressed. Thanks!
Forgot to add, I started with 17.5” square as I messed up cutting 18”…lol and got just over 4 yds of 2” binding! Had less than a 1/4” of waste. Totally sold.
I agree, this is the quickest and clearest tutorial, thank you!
